- Chapter 6 - First Encounter with the Little Villain
“Big brother, I’ll stay with Sister. My stomach feels a bit uncomfortable…”
As she spoke, Mu Suru’s face turned pale, and she bent slightly at the waist.
Her small, white hand tightly covered her stomach, as if she was in significant discomfort.
“Ru Tuan, we won’t go for now. Are you feeling better?”
Mu Chen knelt down and gently rubbed Mu Suru’s little tummy through her dress.
Mu Suru felt the warmth of a large hand massaging her stomach. A wave of comfort washed over her, making it hard to maintain her pained expression.
“It still hurts a little. Ugh… Big Brother, it must be from the car ride. I’ll be fine in a bit… You two should go ahead. I’ll join Sister in a little while.”
Mu Suru straightened up, her face still pale but without any pain between her brows. This look reassured Mu Chen completely.
Mu Chen agreed to Mu Suru’s request, and he and Mu An went to the flower field one after the other.
Mu Suru looked at Xia Qian and smiled sweetly: “Sister, let’s go back inside. It’s a bit hot out here in the sun.”
She had to keep an eye on Xia Qian and couldn’t let her act on her own.
Xia Qian’s face twitched, but she obediently followed inside.
On the glossy sandalwood table, Mu Suru’s favorite snacks were laid out.
There was juicy roast chicken, crispy and golden fried small fish, fragrant sugar-roasted chestnuts, and delicate green bean cakes.
The air was filled with the tempting aroma of food.
Mu Suru’s eyes sparkled as she sat down and started eating without hesitation.
She pressed her left hand on the juicy roast chicken and tore off a large drumstick. With her right hand, she grabbed the crispy fried fish and took a big bite.Â
The juicy, tender flavor exploded in her mouth, filling her taste buds with deliciousness. Mm, it was so good~
While Mu Suru was busy feasting, Xia Qian kept her head down. Her soft hair covered her eyes, making it impossible to see her expression.
What was happening?
Since arriving here, Xia Qian had felt a strong urge guiding her somewhere.
The intense compulsion made her feel like she was losing control of her body.
She stared at the sliver of light peeking through the door, her mind racing with thoughts on how to get rid of that fool Mu Suru.
At that moment, inspiration struck Xia Qian, and she began to devise a plan.
“Hic…”
Mu Suru patted her now-rounded tummy, her fair face full of satisfaction.
The sandalwood table was a mess, looking like it had been ransacked by robbers.
Xia Qian softened her voice, her watery eyes looking at Mu Suru: “Sister, I feel a bit uncomfortable. I think I overate… I need to use the restroom.”
Mu Suru slowly licked her fingers and, hearing this, raised her eyes: “I’ll go with you. I ate too much too, so I should walk it off!”
At that moment, Mu Suru unconsciously exuded an air of authority.
Xia Qian felt the pressure from Mu Suru and couldn’t help but be a bit scared: “Oh, you shouldn’t trouble yourself, Sister…”
Mu Suru quickly grabbed Xia Qian’s shoulder and half-pushed, half-dragged her out the door.
It seemed like Mu Suru was in control, but in reality, Xia Qian’s lips curled slightly in triumph, a gleam of victory in her eyes.
Her plan was more than just going to the restroom…
The sound of cicadas filled the air, and the lush green leaves blocked the scorching sun, bringing a hint of coolness to the area.
Vines climbed over a small wooden house. Mu Suru stood upright, her eyes fixed on the door, as if ready to charge in at any moment.
Why was it taking so long? Could it be…?
“Sister, are you okay? I really need to go!”
Xia Qian intentionally made some rustling noises to catch Mu Suru’s attention.
Hearing the noise, Mu Suru knew the story was about to unfold.
“Sister, are you alright? I’m coming in to check on you!”
Xia Qian forced a calm tone: “I’m fine… I just ran out of toilet paper. Can you bring me some?”
Time ticked by, and someone’s heart pounded in their chest.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Mu Suru responded, “Sure!”
Xia Qian clutched her thumping heart and, hearing Mu Suru’s footsteps fade away, opened the door.
She then headed to the back of the wooden house, the compulsion in her heart growing stronger, pushing her to take this risky move.
Behind the wooden house, there was a deep well and a large grove of lush green bamboo.
Xia Qian reached the well and, with great effort, drew half a bucket of water.
The spring water was clear and transparent, looking refreshingly cool and drinkable.
Suddenly, she heard a sound. She turned toward the bamboo grove.
The bamboo grove was silent, with no signs of movement.
A chill ran down Xia Qian’s spine, making her hair stand on end.
She took a deep breath and tiptoed toward the bamboo grove.
One step… two steps…
She got closer and closer to the spot where she had heard the noise.
At that moment, a pair of eyes hidden behind the bamboo began to glow coldly.
Just when things were about to turn dangerous, Mu Suru appeared, leaning casually against the bamboo, arms crossed as she watched Xia Qian.
“Sister, why did you come here?”
Xia Qian jumped in surprise and hastily brushed her damp bangs aside.
She forced a smile: “Sister, I found some paper in the wooden house and felt thirsty. I remembered the well behind the house, so I drew a bucket of water. When I was about to leave, I heard a noise… so I thought I’d check it out…”
As she spoke, Xia Qian’s gaze kept flicking toward Ren Zai’s direction, unwilling to give up.
Mu Suru wrapped her arm around Xia Qian’s shoulder: “What could it be? You’re so jumpy; it was probably just a snake or a bug!”
Hearing this, Xia Qian’s face turned various shades of green and purple, and she clutched Mu Suru’s arm tightly.
She was nearly wrapped around Mu Suru!
Mu Suru, however, subtly glanced back at the darkened spot in the bamboo where the sunlight couldn’t reach.
In the darkness, a pair of cold eyes stared fixedly at the small figure as it moved farther away, like a predator waiting for the right moment to strike.
Xia Qian, now downcast, sat on a bench.
Mu Chen and Mu An had returned.
Mu Chen’s brows arched slightly, a smile playing on his lips. In his slender, elegant hands was a bouquet of perfectly blooming crabapple flowers.
He bent down and tucked the bouquet behind Mu Suru’s ear, leaving her momentarily stunned.
The snowy-white flowers against Mu Suru’s delicate, jade-like face made a perfect picture.
Mu Suru beamed widely: “Thank you for the gift, Big Brother! Ru Tuan loves it!”
Mu An also held a bouquet of flourishing crabapple flowers. His gentle, affectionate peach blossom eyes flickered with indecision as he glanced between Suru and Xia Qian.
Finally, as if making up his mind, he strode toward Xia Qian. Seeing this, Suru quickly called out, “Second Brother, is that bouquet for me too?”
She had to keep her Second Brother away from Xia Qian as much as possible!
But she couldn’t exactly say: “Second Brother! That woman is poisonous… stay away from her!”
That would be way too awkward!
