- Chapter 8 - Luring the Little Villain Home
Ren Zai’s bottomless black eyes were fixed intently on the meat bun in Mu Suru’s hand.
Mu Suru took a few tentative steps forward. He didn’t react.
She took a few more steps, getting closer to Ren Zai. He began to show signs of anxiety, his eyes turning red, and he let out a low growl: “Awooo…” as if trying to scare off an enemy.
Mu Suru lifted her foot, preparing to cross his boundary.
But she saw Ren Zai baring his teeth, his beast-like eyes locked onto her bunny pajamas, his sharp claws scraping the grass subconsciously.
The sense of being torn apart at any moment made Mu Suru hesitate.
She wrapped the meat bun in a bag and threw it directly in front of Ren Zai.
He jumped back in fright, and once he realized it wasn’t a trap, he picked up the bun with his mouth and quickly retreated.
Mu Suru couldn’t help but marvel at his almost fully recovered body. His healing ability was indeed impressive!
“Sister, what are you doing here?”
A gentle voice came from behind. Mu Suru yawned and turned around to see Xia Qian in a white dress, smiling charmingly.
Mu Suru replied irritably, “I saw a little lamb in the house just now, and it was so cute that I wanted to pet it, but they got scared and ran away…”
“So it was you who caused the panic among the sheep? I thought…” Xia Qian’s gaze was a bit unfocused.
Before this, she had felt an inexplicable sense of unease, as if she had missed some opportunity…
Seeing Xia Qian’s guilty expression, Mu Suru guessed that it was likely the plot pushing her to encounter the little villain.
Fortunately, the most crucial plot point for his blackening was almost ruined!
【Ding, Side Task Released】
【First Task: Lure Villain Ren Zai Home】
Mu Suru felt a bit overwhelmed. This little villain was like a little wolf cub; if he wasn’t willing, she couldn’t just drag him away!
It seemed like she had to take a gamble!
At noon, Mu Suru arrived at the usual place and began setting up.
First was tender and savory braised pig trotters, then delicious lamb stew, and finally tasty steamed bass.
Since it was still warm, the aroma of the food was rich. She was preparing to lure a little foodie.
The faint noises coming from the bamboo forest didn’t escape Mu Suru’s ears.
She coughed twice and then left.
Once Ren Zai couldn’t smell her presence, he emerged and began devouring the food.
At this moment, faint footsteps approached, and he stopped eating.
His oily mouth curled up, revealing two sharp little tiger teeth.
Mu Suru had entered Ren Zai’s attack range and was at risk of danger.
She smiled and extended her delicate white hand, trying to pet him, but Ren Zai turned his head to avoid her.
However, he didn’t attack. Instead, he accepted Mu Suru’s presence.
This behavior made Mu Suru more certain of her thoughts.
One trait of wolves is that once they are familiar with your scent, they stop attacking and accept you.
Mu Suru watched silently as Ren Zai finished eating.
He seemed somewhat unsatisfied, his fierce eyes looking at Mu Suru, and he let out a very soft sound: “Awooo…”
It gave Mu Suru the feeling that the little wolf cub was acting spoiled.
She quickly took out a meat bun she had kept in her arms.
Instead of throwing it in front of Ren Zai, she waited for him to come closer to take it.
Ren Zai first let out two anxious “Awoos,” hoping that this human would throw the bun like before.
Seeing that the human in front of him didn’t move, he lowered his head in frustration, thinking about something.
Time flew by quickly. After five minutes, Mu Suru was a bit disappointed to see that the little villain still hadn’t moved.
Just as she was about to throw the bun, Ren Zai finally took the first step towards her.
Mu Suru watched in surprise as the little villain slowly approached her.
By the time Ren Zai was in front of her, Mu Suru was still processing what was happening.
Ren Zai, dissatisfied with the human in front of him being distracted, let out a proud “Awooo,” clearly wanting Mu Suru to give him the meat bun quickly.
Mu Suru misunderstood and thought that Ren Zai wanted her to feed him personally.
At that moment, with a motherly heart, Mu Suru revealed a warm smile.
She broke a small piece of the meat bun and held it out to Ren Zai.
He hesitated for a moment but eventually took a bite, his tongue brushing against Mu Suru’s fingers, causing a slight tickle.
Feeding and eating like this, with the backdrop of the lush green bamboo forest, felt very cozy.
Mu Suru gently ruffled the little villain’s somewhat prickly hair, her eyes full of tenderness.
Ren Zai stared blankly at the delicate and flawless features of this human, which seemed even more ethereal under the sunlight. His heart raced for the first time, and he had the thought of wanting to keep this human around.
As Mu Suru prepared to get up, the little villain bit the hem of her clothes.
Mu Suru saw Ren Zai looking up at her with wet eyes, giving him a pitiful look.
His dirty face was cleaned with a cloth by her.
Revealing a delicate face that was pale but refined, his eyes seemed even more striking.
Mu Suru instinctively thought of something. She smiled and gestured as if asking, “Do you want to follow me?”
Ren Zai still didn’t understand but let out a full-throated “Awooo.”
Mu Suru successfully lured the little wolf cub home.
【Task Completed, Reward: 10 Plot Points】
“I disagree!” Mu Chen said sternly, his tone severe.
He looked at Ren Zai, who was being comforted by Mu Suru.
“Ru Tuan, I know you feel sorry for his past, but it’s enough to send him to the orphanage. Why do you insist on keeping him here!”
Mu Suru was gently comforting the little villain clinging to her.
His trembling little body made her heart ache deeply.
In the original plot, after Ren Zai was sent to the orphanage, he resisted education due to his aversion to humans, becoming an oddity there.
All the other children isolated him and refused to communicate with him. Later, he learned to speak by watching others.
This caused his blackening value to continuously rise, reaching 60 by the time he met Xia Qian.
So the best approach was to keep him here. She would make sure to educate him properly!
“Big brother, but Ru Tuan really likes him. Can we keep him…”
Mu Suru’s eyes were filled with unshed tears, making her look pitiable.
She knew her brother was the softest-hearted, so she deliberately used this tactic.
As expected, Mu Chen’s tone softened quickly, and he spoke gently: “Ru Tuan, if you insist on keeping him, our Mu family won’t mind an extra mouth to feed!”
Mu Suru happily embraced the dirty little villain.
She didn’t care whether he understood or not, whispering, “You can stay. I’ll take good care of you…”
Ren Zai was slightly dazed by the faint milk scent that was different from his own, momentarily lost in thought.
Mu Chen watched as his dirty little sister tightly hugged the soft little villain, feeling a pang of bitterness: “Ru Tuan, let him go. He needs a bath!”
As the servant approached, Ren Zai bared his teeth and put on a fierce expression.
He held onto Mu Suru tightly, looking like he was afraid of being abandoned, making Mu Suru both laugh and cry.
Mu Suru felt that the little villain must see her as a mother figure.
But he needed a bath, although the wounds shouldn’t get wet, the dirt all over him could lead to bacterial infection!
【Second Task Released: Help the Villain Take a Bath】
[Do I have to do it personally?]
Mu Suru hesitated, as she had never helped someone bathe before.
[Yes!]
After thinking about it, since the little villain was only ten years old, helping him bathe shouldn’t be a big deal.
She said to Mu Chen, “Big brother, I’ll take him to bathe!”
Mu Chen was so enraged that he couldn’t speak, glaring at the child who seemed to be taking advantage of his sister.
He suspected that this little brat was trying to steal his sister away!
