Transmigrated into a Classic Dog-Blood Drama as the Scummy Alpha - Chapter 11
By the time the pair—one big, one small—returned to the living room, Lin Qinghan had already tidied up, changed into her pajamas, and walked out to see Shen Xian and Shen Tian cozily curled up together, watching videos on a phone. They were chatting and laughing like a little family, which made Lin Qinghan feel a tiny pang of jealousy. After all, Tiantian had always been the one most attached to her.
“Mommy, what’s this made of? Is it yummy?” Shen Tian blinked her big eyes and tilted her little pigtails, curious.
“It’s delicious,” Shen Xian explained, “It’s made with milk on the bottom, and topped with mango. It’s smooth and creamy—Tiantian will definitely love it.”
It was already past 9 p.m., and eating too much this late wouldn’t be good for a child’s digestion. So Shen Xian simply ordered three servings of mango double-skin milk. First, the portions were small—Tiantian wouldn’t get too full—and second, it was nutritious and wouldn’t upset her stomach.
“Mommy, when will the pudding arrive?” Shen Tian leaned into Shen Xian’s arms, her eyes practically glued to the screen showing the dessert.
Shen Xian chuckled and patted the top of her little glutton’s head. “Soon. As for the mangosteen, Mommy will buy more for you after school tomorrow, okay?”
“Okay~” Tiantian replied in a sing-song tone, dragging out the last syllable sweetly.
Soon enough, the delivery arrived. Shen Xian was still at the door when little Tiantian ran up and wrapped herself around her leg. Shen Xian laughed and scooped her up. “What’s the rush, sweetie? Mommy will get it ready right away.”
She opened the bag to reveal three neatly packed bowls of mango double-skin milk. She took one out, removed the lid, handed Tiantian a little spoon, and said, “Go ahead, Tiantian, have a taste.”
With a wide grin and a soft, babyish voice, Tiantian chirped, “Okay~ Tiantian’s gonna eat it!”
She took a tiny spoonful, cautiously put it in her mouth, and then her eyes lit up. She blinked up at Shen Xian, delighted.
“Mommy, it’s so good! Tiantian likes this pudding!”
“Good. As long as you like it, Mommy will buy it for you again next time,” Shen Xian said warmly, gently stroking her soft little cheek.
Then, she opened another bowl, stuck a spoon in it, and glanced at Lin Qinghan, who was sitting on the other end of the sofa. She held it out. “Here, Qinghan, you should have some too. It’s been a long night.”
Lin Qinghan, visibly exhausted, leaned back against the sofa and looked at her. “No, I’m fine. Let Tiantian have it.”
“Dairy desserts don’t keep well overnight. If Tiantian wants more tomorrow, we can just buy fresh ones,” Shen Xian replied, still holding the bowl out.
After a moment’s hesitation, Lin Qinghan finally took the dessert.
Shen Xian noticed that ever since Lin Zhixin left, the favorability score above Lin Qinghan’s head had settled at -90, and Shen Tian’s had even climbed to 10—a positive number at last. That alone was enough to lift
Shen Xian’s mood. She picked up her own bowl and began to eat as well.
By then, it was already 10 p.m. Shen Xian turned to Lin Qinghan and said, “If there’s nothing else, I’ll get going now. You and Tiantian should rest early.”
As soon as Shen Tian heard Shen Xian was leaving, her little face fell. Even the delicious pudding suddenly lost its charm. Her eyes widened with innocent worry. “Mommy, are you leaving? But without you,
Tiantian gets scared and can’t sleep…” She clutched Shen Xian’s arm tightly.
Shen Xian hesitated. Tiantian clearly didn’t want her to go, but she knew Lin Qinghan probably wouldn’t want her staying. After all, she was an Alpha—and with her past behavior, she was basically a walking time bomb in Qinghan’s eyes.
Not wanting to put Lin Qinghan in a difficult spot, Shen Xian gently cuddled the little one and coaxed, “Tiantian, be good. If you go to bed early, you’ll get to play with your friends at preschool tomorrow. And you’ll see Mommy again tomorrow too.”
Tiantian pouted, her eyes growing misty. She didn’t know all the details, but she could tell that her new Mommy was different—this Mommy was gentle, held her in her arms, bought her treats, chased away the scary uncle. She knew other kids’ parents lived together… and she wanted that too.
She looked back and forth between Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan, hugging Shen Xian’s waist, clearly reluctant to let her go. For some reason, she just felt safest when Mommy was around.
After a long silence, Lin Qinghan finally said, “It’s already past ten. You might as well stay. You can sleep in the guest room.”
Hearing her mama give in, Tiantian immediately wrapped her arms around Shen Xian’s waist and beamed, “Mommy, Mama wants you to stay too. Mommy has to listen to Mama to be good~”
Shen Xian burst out laughing. “Okay, then Mommy will stay with Tiantian.”
She said it without thinking, but Lin Qinghan, on the side, flushed slightly. She cleared her throat and said, “Tiantian, don’t talk nonsense.”
Tiantian blinked and argued seriously, “I’m not talking nonsense. Mengmeng’s Mommy always listens to her Mama too. Mengmeng told me!”
Shen Xian laughed out loud and coaxed, “Okay, okay. Tiantian makes sense. Mommy will listen to Mommy too, alright?”
Having her reasoning affirmed, Tiantian nodded solemnly. Shen Xian found her absolutely adorable and turned to smile at Lin Qinghan—only to get a glare in return.
What the heck? Shen Xian was puzzled. What did I do? She was a completely straight woman, and had no idea why Lin Qinghan was glaring at her like that.
Lin Qinghan, seeing Tiantian finishing her dessert and still clinging to Shen Xian, couldn’t help feeling jealous. She was the one who spent the most time with Tiantian, after all.
Trying to keep her tone light, she said, “Come on, Mama will help Tiantian brush her teeth, okay?”
Tiantian looked back at Shen Xian and reluctantly agreed. “Okay… Mommy, I’m going to rinse now. But later, you have to rinse too—good Mommy has to follow the rules.”
Shen Xian grinned. “Of course. Mommy will be good too. Go on.”
Lin Qinghan set her on a small stool, squeezed out some toothpaste, and quietly asked while brushing, “Tiantian… do you like Mommy now?”
Tiantian looked at Lin Qinghan in the mirror and smiled, dimples showing. “Tiantian likes Mama the most! But Mommy changed, and she’s nice now, so I like her too~”
Lin Qinghan sighed but said nothing. She wanted Shen Xian to stay this way. But she knew Shen Xian too well, and she was afraid Tiantian would end up disappointed again.
After helping her rinse, she prepared to take Tiantian back to the bedroom. On the way, Tiantian asked, “Mama, is Mommy going to sleep with us?”
Shen Xian immediately saw the chill sweep over Lin Qinghan’s face. In order to preserve what little favorability she had left, Shen Xian quickly stepped in.
“I’ll sleep in the guest room,” she said quickly. “Tiantian, don’t worry. With Mommy here, you’re perfectly safe. I’ll chase away any bad guys. You just need to sleep well and listen to Mama.”
Tiantian looked a little disappointed but still acted like a little grown-up. “Then Mommy has to listen to Mama too.”
Shen Xian chuckled, “Of course. Mommy will be just as obedient as Tiantian, okay?”
Satisfied, Tiantian nodded and let Lin Qinghan lead her into the bedroom.
Shen Xian found a set of disposable toiletries in the bathroom. When she came back out, she saw Lin Qinghan still in the living room. “Um… is Tiantian asleep?” she asked.
Lin Qinghan glanced at her and gave a small nod. After a moment of hesitation, she said, “Don’t take what Tiantian said too seriously. Kids just say things.”
Shen Xian nodded. “I understand. I know you still hate me. And I know I’ve made a lot of mistakes. But Qinghan… I want to sincerely apologize. I know words don’t mean much, but I’ll prove it to you. I really have changed. I hope that someday, we can be friends again.”
Her tone was earnest, but Lin Qinghan’s expression didn’t change. Shen Xian had said too many things like this before. Not once had she meant them. Lin Qinghan couldn’t afford to lower her guard now.
“Thanks for what you did tonight,” she said coolly. “But just remember—we’re never getting back together.”
With that, she pulled out a can of pheromone blocker and sprayed it into the air. The faint scent of artificial freshness filled the room. Then, she disappeared into the bedroom and returned shortly after with a clean nightgown.
“Here. You can wear this. It’s clean.”
“Thanks. You should get some rest too. Goodnight.”
Lin Qinghan looked at her for a second, then finally replied, “Goodnight.”
Shen Xian changed into the nightgown and lay down on the bed, then called Fang Jinglan. “Mom, I’m staying over at Tiantian’s place tonight, I won’t be coming home.”
Fang Jinglan hesitated. “Did you and Qinghan make up?”
“No, Mom, don’t overthink it. Lin Zhixin showed up causing trouble. Tiantian got scared and couldn’t sleep, so I stayed. You and Dad should go to bed early too.”
She chatted a little longer, then hung up.
Shen Xian was an early riser, but since she didn’t have a key, she didn’t go for her usual morning run. She noticed there were still some shrimp in the fridge from before, so she started cooking a pot of seafood congee. By the time Lin Qinghan and Shen Tian woke up, the whole house was filled with a warm, comforting aroma.
Shen Tian, still groggy from sleep, perked up instantly. “Mama, it smells so good! Tiantian’s hungry!”
Lin Qinghan, freshly woken, was softer than usual. “Okay, let’s get you dressed and washed up first.”
When the two emerged, they found Shen Xian in the kitchen. She greeted them with a smile, “Good morning! Perfect timing—the congee is ready!”
Still not quite fully awake, Lin Qinghan gave her a small smile in return. “Morning. I’ll help Tiantian get ready first.”
