Transmigrated into a Classic Dog-Blood Drama as the Scummy Alpha - Chapter 14
Early the next morning, after dropping off the child, Shen Xian rushed back home. She had signed countless similar agreements in the past, so drafting one now was a breeze. In less than thirty minutes, she finalized the contract, saved it to a flash drive, and prepared to head to a print shop.
Stepping out of the room, Shen Xian went to find Fang Jinglan.
“Mom, I’ll be moving in with Tiantian and Qinghan for a while,” she said.
Fang Jinglan’s expression changed slightly as she hesitated. “Shen Xian, be honest with me. Are you and Qinghan… getting back together?”
Shen Xian gave a wry smile. “Definitely not. It’s just that Lin Zhixin’s been giving Qinghan trouble lately. Last time he scared Tiantian so badly she burst into tears. I’ll move in for a while to keep him from stirring up more trouble.”
Fang Jinglan patted her shoulder. “Then you be careful too. Don’t get into any fights with Lin Zhixin. If something happens, call the police. Oh, and do you still have money? I can give you some for living expenses.”
Shen Xian stopped her with a smile. “No need, Mom. I made a little money recently. Keep yours for you and Dad. I’m heading out to buy a few things.”
After saying goodbye, Shen Xian printed and bound the contract for the afternoon, bought a new suitcase, and picked up some toiletries before heading off to buy sleepwear.
One set in particular caught her eye — matching parent-child pajamas in a black-and-white cow pattern. Shen Xian looked at them and the more she did, the more she thought her little one would love it. She decided to buy them.
“Hello, this set is a three-piece family pajama set — two adult sizes and one for a child. We don’t sell them separately,” the shop assistant explained when she saw Shen Xian only holding two sets.
“Oh?” Shen Xian thought for a moment. Lin Qinghan probably wouldn’t wear it with them, but she bought all three sets anyway.
With everything in hand, she took a cab to Lin Qinghan’s place using the spare key Lin had given her, and dropped everything off. She grabbed a quick lunch and then headed to the same café from the day before.
Jiang Xi arrived shortly afterward.
The moment she saw Shen Xian, a bright smile lit up her face.
“You’re early, big sis!”
“I just got here,” Shen Xian replied, handing over the contract. “Here’s the agreement. See if there’s anything you want to revise.”
Jiang Xi happily read through it and then gave Shen Xian a thumbs-up. “Awesome! I think it’s perfect. Let’s sign! Sis, my entire plan to prove to my dad that I’m not a total loser is riding on you. At the very least, I want him to know I’m a loser with taste!”
Shen Xian looked at her, half wanting to laugh. So you’re still aiming to be a salted fish, huh? What lofty aspirations. “Alright. There are two copies. We both need to sign and do fingerprint stamps.”
“Got it!” Jiang Xi didn’t hesitate. She quickly signed and stamped both copies. Shen Xian shook her head and signed as well. This kid’s lucky she ran into me. Anyone else would probably burn through that million in no time.
“I’ll transfer the money now,” Jiang Xi said. “Which account should I send it to?”
Shen Xian handed over a new bank card she’d opened that morning, specifically for managing this million-yuan investment.
“Use this. I opened it today for our transactions.”
Jiang Xi took the card and swiftly worked her phone like a pro. A second later, Shen Xian received a bank notification — the long string of zeroes was enough to make most people dizzy.
Shen Xian extended a hand with a smile.
“Pleasure doing business with you, President Jiang.”
“Pleasure’s mine, big sis. But when you call me ‘President Jiang,’ it feels weird, hehe.”
“What’s so weird about it? If we do well this year, we can consider starting a proper company together next year.”
“Deal! I’m counting on you, big sis!” Jiang Xi was already acting like family, fully trusting Shen Xian even though she hadn’t seen a single yuan in return yet.
After leaving the café, Jiang Xi dropped Shen Xian off at the mall in her flashy Porsche and drove home.
Shen Xian first bought a new laptop, then checked out phones. Her current one was painfully slow, and she remembered Lin Qinghan’s wasn’t in great shape either. So she simply bought two — over ten thousand yuan spent in a flash. But now that she had funding, earning money didn’t seem too hard.
With everything done, Shen Xian headed straight to pick up Tiantian from school. The little girl had already grown used to seeing her at the gate. As soon as she stepped outside, she scanned the crowd with wide eyes, spotted Shen Xian, and launched herself like a little cannonball into her arms.
Shen Xian laughed and caught her. “Mommy’s not going anywhere! No need to rush, or you’ll trip.”
Tiantian clung to her leg, pouting sweetly. “Tiantian missed Mommy~”
Shen Xian ruffled her hair with a smile. “Alright, Mommy’s moving in tonight to live with you.”
“Yay! That means I’ll have Mama and Mommy with me every day!” Her twin pigtails bounced adorably as she spoke.
Just then, Lin Qinghan arrived on her little electric scooter. Tiantian immediately darted over and wrapped herself around her mother’s leg, chirping, “Mama! Tiantian missed Mama!”
Lin Qinghan touched the tip of Tiantian’s nose with a smile. “Such a sweet talker.”
“Heehee, Mommy is sweet too~” Tiantian added quickly, pulling Shen Xian over to earn double praise.
Lin Qinghan sat Tiantian on the scooter’s footboard and gestured for Shen Xian to hop on. Shen Xian swung one leg over, her hands full with her laptop bag and shopping, so she reached forward and instinctively wrapped her arm around Lin Qinghan’s waist for balance.
Feeling the sudden contact, Lin Qinghan glanced down at the hand around her waist. Shen Xian had always avoided touching her unless necessary. What’s this now? Did Shen Xian have ulterior motives for moving in? Lin Qinghan glanced back and saw Shen Xian juggling multiple bags. Realizing she was overthinking it, she quietly exhaled.
The three of them soon arrived home. After Lin Qinghan parked the scooter and locked it, Tiantian ran to stand between the two adults, holding one hand from each of them.
“Tiantian wants Mama and Mommy to hold hands together!”
Shen Xian exchanged a glance with Lin Qinghan and took her daughter’s hand. Tiantian beamed and chattered happily the whole walk back.
Once home, Lin Qinghan went into the kitchen. Shen Xian rubbed Tiantian’s little pigtails and followed.
“Qinghan, let me cook. You go play with Tiantian.”
“No need. I’ve already taken the ingredients out. It’s no trouble,” Lin Qinghan replied casually.
But Shen Xian gently but firmly ushered her out of the kitchen, seizing command. Watching Shen Xian busily cooking, Lin Qinghan spaced out for a moment. If only she’d been like this before… Then she shook her head. It was too late. Without Tiantian, they would’ve been nothing more than strangers.
Lin Qinghan returned to the living room to watch Tiantian draw. Soon after, Shen Xian brought out dinner. After eating, she tidied up the guest room. Tiantian bounced in to watch and followed her around.
That was when Shen Xian remembered the cow-print pajamas. She pulled them out and showed Tiantian.
“Look! Mommy bought these for you. Do you like them? We match!”
Tiantian hugged the soft pajamas and flashed her dimples. “I love them! I want to wear them now! Mommy, help me change!”
“Sure.” Shen Xian changed Tiantian into the cow-print set, which even had a little hoodie with horns. The black-and-white shirt and shorts made her look adorably silly.
Tiantian ran to the mirror to admire herself, then scurried back, tugging at Shen Xian’s sleeve.
“Mommy! Put yours on too! Tiantian wants to be matching cows with Mommy!”
With her daughter snuggling into her arms, Shen Xian caved instantly. In her past life, she always wore dark, serious pajamas. These cute ones were a first — and honestly, kind of fun. Under Tiantian’s urging, she changed into the matching set.
Tiantian hugged her thigh and cheered, “So pretty! Momy looks just like Tiantian. Tiantian loves it!”
Then she spotted the third set of pajamas still in the suitcase.
“Mommy, why is there one more cow pajama?” she asked, holding it up and blinking expectantly.
Shen Xian awkwardly scratched Tiantian’s head.
“That one’s for your mama… but she probably won’t want—”
Before Shen Xian could finish, Tiantian had already shouted “Awooo!” and bolted.
“Mama! This is for you! Just like mine and Mommy’s!” she cried, dragging Lin Qinghan into the guest room.
The first thing Lin Qinghan saw was Shen Xian wearing the same pajamas as Tiantian. Shen Xian’s smile froze. Was this kid trying to embarrass her to death?
But Tiantian beamed and tugged at her mother’s sleeve. “Mama, wear it too! Be just like Tiantian and Mommy!”
Lin Qinghan gently patted her daughter’s head, but her eyes were fixed on Shen Xian as she muttered, “Childish.”
Then she crouched down and coaxed Tiantian gently.
“Mama will wear it next time. Be good, and I’ll take you out to play.”
Tiantian was quickly appeased, leaving Shen Xian frozen in place like a statue. A big-shot CEO like me, getting called childish…
Still, when she saw that Tiantian’s affection meter had ticked up to 40, she finally felt a little comforted.
