Transmigrated into a Classic Dog-Blood Drama as the Scummy Alpha - Chapter 30
Early in the morning, Lin Qinghan called Fang Jinglan.
“Mom, can Tiantian stay with you for a few days? Shen Xian and I both have things to take care of—we’re pretty swamped.”
“Of course, don’t worry about her. You two take care of your business,” Fang Jinglan replied over the phone.
Hearing voices, Shen Tian crawled out from under the covers, slipped on her little slippers, and trotted over to Fang Jinglan.
“Grandma, who is it?” she asked, climbing up beside her. Her tiny head peeked toward the phone.
“You’ve got good ears. It’s your mom,” Fang Jinglan said with a chuckle, gently patting Shen Tian’s head.
“Grandma, I want to talk to Mama!”
“Alright, don’t rush. Here you go.” Fang Jinglan handed the phone over.
Clutching the phone in her chubby little hands, Shen Tian said sweetly, “Mama, I miss you and Mommy. When are you coming to pick me up?”
Lin Qinghan softened her voice. “Mama and Mommy have a few things to deal with these next few days, but we’ll come get you soon, okay? Be good and stay with Grandma for now. When we come, I’ll bring you something yummy.”
“Okay… but what about Mommy? Why isn’t Mommy talking to me?” Shen Tian asked in her soft, childish voice.
“Your Mommy worked really late last night and is still sleeping because she’s tired.”
“Okay then. I won’t bother Mommy. Mama, don’t forget to come get me in a few days, okay? I miss you and Mommy.”
“Mama misses you too, sweetheart…” Lin Qinghan soothed her gently, speaking with her daughter for a while longer before finally hanging up.
Then, Lin Qinghan quietly opened the door to Shen Xian’s room. Shen Xian was still lying obediently on the bed, curled up, her eyebrows slightly furrowed—possibly from the lingering pain in her back. The blanket had been tossed aside, her long legs drawn in slightly, and the hem of her dress revealed the faintest glimpse of skin.
Lin Qinghan hesitated for a few seconds before picking up the discarded blanket and gently covering her.
Though the pain in Shen Xian’s back had eased a little, she still hadn’t slept well—waking several times during the night. She had only just managed to fall into a light sleep as dawn broke. The moment she felt the blanket on her back, she woke up, her eyes still hazy from lack of sleep. Her voice was hoarse when she spoke:
“Qinghan? Morning. Why are you here?”
“I came to check on you. What happened to your voice? Is your back still hurting a lot?” Lin Qinghan asked softly.
Shen Xian sniffled a little, her voice stuffy:
“I don’t know. Maybe I caught a cold last night? It’s not serious. I’ll sleep a bit more and I’ll be fine. My back’s better too… but I probably won’t be able to pick up Tiantian like this.”
“I already told your mom. Tiantian will stay with her for a few days. Once you’re better, we can bring her home.” Lin Qinghan glanced at her, noticing the corner of her lips was still swollen. Last night, in a hurry to treat her back, she had completely forgotten about her face.
She returned to the living room, fetched a tube of anti-inflammatory ointment from the first-aid kit, and came back to Shen Xian’s room.
Hearing movement, Shen Xian looked toward the door, puzzled when Lin Qinghan returned. She watched as Lin Qinghan approached, bent down, and gently touched the corner of her lips.
The unexpected touch made Shen Xian freeze. Her ears turned a bit red from embarrassment.
Do good friends… normally touch each other’s lips? Was she missing some kind of unspoken rule?
Seeing her ears turn visibly red, Lin Qinghan couldn’t help but chuckle. Thinking Shen Xian had misunderstood, she explained,
“The corner of your mouth is swollen. I’m just putting on some medicine. What were you thinking?”
“Nothing,” Shen Xian murmured, looking up at her.
“Don’t move.” Lin Qinghan squeezed a bit of the ointment onto her fingertip, crouched down, and held Shen Xian’s chin to keep her still, carefully dabbing the cream onto her lips.
The two were very close. As Lin Qinghan concentrated on applying the medicine, Shen Xian kept staring at her.
Her Qinghan really was the kind of beauty you could never get tired of looking at.
Lin Qinghan could feel that gaze—hot and intense—and glanced up, catching Shen Xian staring in a daze.
Still not looking away, Shen Xian held her gaze.
With a small smirk, Lin Qinghan pressed a little harder with her finger. Shen Xian winced at the sting and sucked in a breath.
“Hiss—Qinghan, easy! That hurts.”
Lin Qinghan gave her a sideways look, lips curving slightly.
“All done. Breakfast is ready. Do you want to eat now or later?”
“I’ll eat later… I’m still sleepy. You should get to work. Don’t worry, I’m fine.” Shen Xian mumbled, lying back down.
“Alright. I left the cold medicine on the coffee table. Take it after you eat something.”
“Okay, got it.” Shen Xian buried her head in the pillow and closed her eyes.
Watching her, Lin Qinghan couldn’t help but smile and shake her head. After what Shen Xian had done for her, she didn’t feel the need to keep her guard up anymore.
And who knows—because of Tiantian, maybe they really could become friends again.

After taking their statements the previous night, the police reviewed footage from several surveillance cameras near the hospital. They identified a black minibus and followed its trail across the city. It didn’t take long before they located Wang Qi’s residence.
Wang Qi and his gang were no strangers to the local precinct. They were slippery and well-versed in exploiting legal loopholes. Even when they did break the law, they rarely left behind solid evidence. This time, for example, Shen Xian hadn’t sustained any serious injuries, and Lin Qinghan wasn’t harmed physically—so even if the culprits were caught, the most they’d face was a few days of administrative detention.
Wang Qi seemed prepared. When the police showed up, all five of the men who had gone after Lin Qinghan were present and cooperative. With their unusually good attitudes, the police had no choice but to take them in for questioning. They called Lin Qinghan to come identify the suspects.
Lin Qinghan informed Dr. Zhao and left for the station early. After positively identifying the five men as their attackers, she completed the paperwork and returned to the hospital.
By then, news of what happened had already spread throughout the hospital, accompanied by all kinds of rumors. As soon as Lin Qinghan stepped inside, she noticed several coworkers giving her odd looks.
Han Rui pulled her into the break room.
“Qinghan, what happened yesterday? Everyone’s talking—and some of it’s really nasty.”
“My brother owes money, and those thugs came after me instead. They tried to abduct me when I refused. Luckily Shen Xian showed up. If she hadn’t… I don’t know what would’ve happened.” Lin Qinghan’s heart still sank at the thought—she never imagined her own brother would betray her like this.
“That’s awful. But honestly, the rumors flying around are even worse. People are saying you and Shen Xian were swapping pheromones in the rest area—and some are saying things I can’t even repeat…”
“I know. Last night, Shen Xian exhausted all her pheromones fighting those five men. I used mine to stabilize her—that’s all that happened. I can’t control what people say. Let them talk. But thank you, Han Rui.”
Lin Qinghan gave her a grateful look.
“You don’t have to thank me. I just didn’t want you to be blindsided. People love to gossip—don’t take it to heart.”
“I won’t. Thanks again.” Lin Qinghan smiled lightly, and they returned to their departments.

Lu Jianbai had felt uneasy all morning. During breakfast in the hospital cafeteria, he overheard Liu Wenwen and Zhao Qing gossiping about Lin Qinghan. He lost his appetite immediately.
It was bad enough knowing Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan were living together—now rumors were flying that they had released pheromones in the staff lounge? Lu Jianbai was about to explode.
As soon as he heard Lin Qinghan was back, he rushed over.
“Qinghan, the things people are saying—they can’t be true, right? You and Shen Xian… in the rest area…”
“It’s true she used up all her pheromones to save me. I used mine to help her recover. That’s all. I don’t want to explain any more. People can believe what they want.” Lin Qinghan spoke without looking up from the X-rays in her hand, clearly uninterested in continuing the conversation.
Seeing she didn’t want to talk, Lu Jianbai furrowed his brow, turned, and left. Back in his office, he ran his fingers through his hair in frustration.
Something felt off, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it.
He even found himself missing the days when Shen Xian used to ask Lin Qinghan for money—at least then, he could tell where things stood.
But now… Lin Qinghan had actually used her pheromones on Shen Xian.
Why?
What did Shen Xian have that he didn’t?

“Wenwen, did you hear? Dr. Lu went to talk to Lin Qinghan, and came back looking like a thundercloud,” Zhao Qing whispered excitedly.
“Of course I heard. He slammed the office door on the way in. Serves her right—messing around with her ex-wife and still trying to hook Dr. Lu.”
“Exactly. She should take a good look in the mirror. Acting all high and mighty just because she’s an Omega.”
“Well, now Dr. Lu’s seen her for what she is. All that pretending to be pure and proper, and now look—fooling around in the lounge with her ex-wife…” Liu Wenwen was mid-sentence when someone coughed behind her.
“You two have a lot of free time to gossip? Is your department that quiet?” Dr. Zhao’s tone was sharp.
She had noticed this tension during a previous department dinner and had since learned who the real troublemakers were. Lin Qinghan had always been diligent and professional, while these two nurses loved to slack off and stir up drama.
“Dr. Zhao, we’re heading back now. One of our patients needs a fluid change,” Zhao Qing said quickly, tugging Liu Wenwen along.

Around noon, Lin Qinghan checked her phone several times before finally dialing Shen Xian.
This time, her voice sounded clearer.
“Qinghan? What’s up?” Shen Xian had just woken from another nap. Her back was feeling better, and she had eaten the breakfast Lin Qinghan had prepared.
“Did you take your meds? Is your throat any better?” Lin Qinghan asked gently, recalling how raspy her voice had sounded that morning. The memory made her lips curve into a soft smile.
“Just about to take them. Nothing serious. You go have lunch too—don’t worry about me.” Shen Xian was delighted to receive her call.
Was this what it felt like when the affection meter reset to zero?
She was loving it.
“Alright. Take the cold medicine and get some rest. I’ll put the ointment on your back when I get home,” Lin Qinghan reminded her before hanging up.
Watching her, Han Rui couldn’t help but feel that something more was going on between them. Ever since Shen Xian had picked Lin Qinghan up from that hotel, Han Rui had been suspicious—and now the way they interacted?
It was starting to look downright sweet.

After taking her cold medicine, Shen Xian set an alarm. She didn’t feel right letting Lin Qinghan go home alone. If she was feeling better after a nap, she figured she might as well go pick her up.
Around the time Lin Qinghan was finishing her shift, Shen Xian arrived at the hospital. Just as she walked in, she ran into the two young nurses from the day before.
“Oh! You’re here to see Dr. Lin?” one of them asked, eyes bright. “Wait here, I’ll go get her!”
In Imaging, she called out cheerfully,
“Dr. Lin, your Alpha’s waiting for you at the door!”
Lin Qinghan frowned but had already packed up for the day. She slung her bag over her shoulder and headed out. Seeing Shen Xian standing there, she frowned again, clearly displeased.
“Why are you here? Your injuries haven’t healed yet!” she scolded.
Shen Xian had already noticed the curious and amused looks from others around her. It wasn’t hard to guess that last night’s incident had become gossip fodder. Had it affected Lin Qinghan?
Hearing Lin Qinghan’s irritated tone, Shen Xian thought she was angry that her presence was fueling rumors. Her gaze faltered.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make things worse. I just didn’t want you walking home alone…”
Lin Qinghan’s tone softened.
She wasn’t upset about the rumors—she was upset that Shen Xian wasn’t resting properly despite her injuries and cold. But hearing her explanation, her heart warmed.
“I’m not mad. I was just worried about your back. Come on, let’s go home.” She reached for Shen Xian’s wrist and pulled her along, not caring who saw.
With Shen Xian’s back still healing, riding a scooter was out of the question. They had to take a taxi. Shen Xian sat without leaning back, her posture slightly hunched.
Watching her, Lin Qinghan felt a pang of guilt. She must have ridden over in that same painful position, just to pick her up.
After a pause, Lin Qinghan offered, in as neutral a tone as she could manage,
“That position doesn’t look comfortable. Want to lie down on my lap for a bit?”
Shen Xian looked at her, then nodded.
So Qinghan did care about her.
And anyway… wasn’t it normal for close friends to nap on each other’s laps?
But as she leaned over, resting against her, a faint blush crept across Lin Qinghan’s calm face.
