Transmigrated into a Classic Dog-Blood Drama as the Scummy Alpha - Chapter 31
Dinner that night was prepared by Lin Qinghan. Shen Xian lay on the bed with her eyes closed, resting. Only when Lin Qinghan came over to call her did she get up to eat.
This was the first time since transmigrating into the book that Shen Xian had dinner alone with Qinghan. Usually, their daughter was always present. For no particular reason, Shen Xian felt a little happy.
Thinking of the rumors at the hospital earlier, she grew uneasy.
“Qinghan, did my showing up at the hospital affect you? I didn’t think it through… I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine,” Lin Qinghan replied, glancing at her. “People can say whatever they like. I don’t care about those things. Just focus on recovering.”
“Okay. I’m feeling a lot better already. I think I’ll be fully healed in a few more days.” Shen Xian smiled at Lin Qinghan. Being able to talk like this, without awkwardness or hostility, genuinely made her happy.
A few days later, the wounds on Shen Xian’s back had completely healed, and the swelling around her lips had also subsided. Having promised to pick up their daughter from kindergarten, Shen Xian arrived early and waited at the gate. Sure enough, when Shen Tian saw her, her little eyes lit up. She ran over on her short legs and leapt into Shen Xian’s arms.
“Mommy! You’re finally here! I missed you!” Shen Tian clung to Shen Xian’s neck and acted spoiled.
“Mommy’s been busy lately. But now that things have settled down, I came to pick you up. How about I make some big lobsters for dinner tonight?”
“Yes! Big shrimp! Yum~” Shen Tian hadn’t seen Shen Xian in days and wouldn’t let go of her. Shen Xian scooped her up and took a cab straight to the hospital to find Lin Qinghan.
They got out near the hospital, and Shen Xian gave Lin Qinghan a call. It was just about time for her shift to end. Lin Qinghan and Han Rui walked out together.
From a distance, Shen Tian spotted her mom and waved her chubby little hand. “Mama! Tiantian’s over here!”
The moment Lin Qinghan heard her daughter’s sweet voice, her smile bloomed. She exchanged a quick word with Han Rui and then hurried over to Shen Xian and their daughter.
“Tiantian, what are you doing here? Did you miss Mama?” Lin Qinghan pinched her daughter’s soft cheeks with a smile, then took her into her arms and handed the scooter keys to Shen Xian.
Shen Xian smiled as she accepted the keys and turned to retrieve the electric scooter from the parking shed.
Unbeknownst to them, Lu Jianbai had just exited the hospital and witnessed the whole scene. He froze in place, hands curling into fists, his expression darkening.
Another doctor passing by noticed and patted Lu Jianbai on the shoulder. “Dr. Lu? You okay? You don’t look well.”
Lu Jianbai snapped out of it and forced a warm smile. “I’m fine. Just got lost in thought for a moment. Let’s head home.”
Soon after, Shen Xian wheeled the scooter out. Lin Qinghan walked over with her daughter and said with a laugh, “You’re driving today—take us both home.”
“Gladly.” Shen Xian swung her leg over the scooter, took Shen Tian and stood her on the footrest, while Lin Qinghan climbed onto the back seat and gently held Shen Xian’s waist. Once they were all settled, Shen Xian took off.
Not long after they got home, the Australian lobsters Shen Xian had ordered online were delivered. Shen Tian stared at the bag in curiosity. Shen Xian took one out—its head was even bigger than Shen Tian’s.
“Mommy! That shrimp is huge! Tiantian is scared!” she cried.
Shen Xian chuckled. “Once it’s in your belly, there’s nothing to be scared of. It’s going to be delicious once it’s cooked. You’ll love it.”
Shen Tian’s big round eyes sparkled. “Okay! If I eat it, I won’t be scared!”
Leaving their daughter in the living room to watch cartoons, Shen Xian headed into the kitchen. Lin Qinghan was already washing vegetables.
Seeing the lobsters, Lin Qinghan asked, “You know how to cook these?”
Shen Xian nodded. “A bit. I’ll halve them, mix a sauce, pour it over the meat, and steam it with cheese. The big steamer should do the trick.”
“Sounds good. You handle that—I’ll cook a few more dishes.” Lin Qinghan smiled. Somehow, since that incident, it had become easier to talk to Shen Xian.
Shen Xian prepared a sweet-savory sauce and paired it with cheese. Soon, the aroma filled the kitchen.
Lin Qinghan teased as she stir-fried, “Where’d you learn this? Looks pretty professional.”
“I just figured it out on my own,” Shen Xian replied with a grin. “But it should taste pretty good.” In her past life, she’d eaten this kind of thing often and knew exactly what worked.
Lin Qinghan didn’t think too much of it. Before long, the table was set.
Shen Tian was extra excited that evening. Being with both her moms made her happiest. When she saw the lobster, her eyes widened in awe. “Mommy, it smells so good!”
“Here, let me get you some.” Shen Xian scooped half of the lobster meat into Tiantian’s bowl, mixed it with the sauce and cheese. “Try it, sweetheart.”
Tiantian nodded her tiny pigtails, stuffed her mouth full, and was too busy chewing to speak.
Amused, Shen Xian reached over to peel shrimp for Lin Qinghan and passed the plate over.
Lin Qinghan accepted it with a soft smile. She suddenly thought, Maybe even without marriage, the three of us living like this wouldn’t be so bad. But she shook her head almost immediately. That was just her wishful thinking—Shen Xian wouldn’t think that way.

The next morning, Shen Xian sent a photo of the month’s profits to Jiang Xi. Jiang Xi excitedly replied with a string of cat-bowing emojis.
Shen Xian also mentioned withdrawing her share for the month. Jiang Xi had no objections.
With over 1.7 million in hand, Shen Xian rented an office at Jinxiang Pavillon, hired a renovation crew, and in the afternoon posted a job listing on the Linhai University forum. Only after all that did she finally relax.
But she had barely lain down when Jiang Xi called.
“Jiejie, are you free tomorrow night? I need your help with something,” Jiang Xi’s sweet voice came through the line.
“I’m free. What’s up?”
“There’s a banquet tomorrow, and I need a plus one. Can you come with me?”
“I have time, but I don’t have anything to wear. No gown, no accessories…” Shen Xian had been busy managing renovations and hiring for her startup. Aside from checking the stock market occasionally, she hadn’t done much else.
“Don’t worry, I’ve got all of that covered! You don’t know how annoying these banquets are when I go alone—people keep trying to talk to me. I’m so sick of it.” Jiang Xi grumbled. Most of those trying to strike up conversation only cared about her family background, which she found extremely irritating.
“Alright. I’ll be your personal mobile shield and block them all for you,” Shen Xian laughed.
“Thanks, jiejie! You really get me.”
Shen Xian hesitated for a moment before asking, “What about your Mu-jiejie? I thought you two were close—why not ask her?”
At that, Jiang Xi’s tone turned downcast. “Mu-jiejie’s super busy, and she’s still overseas handling some business. I didn’t want to bother her. But now that I have you, it’s just as good!”
“Alright then, President Jiang. I’ll make sure the mission is a success.” Shen Xian chatted a bit more with her and then hung up.

At lunch, Lu Jianbai once again showed up uninvited. Han Rui had long known he was interested in Lin Qinghan. But now it was clear Lin Qinghan’s attitude toward her ex-wife was way better than toward him.
After Shen Xian risked herself to save Lin Qinghan, Han Rui was increasingly convinced Lu Jianbai had no chance.
When Han Rui finished eating, Lu Jianbai hesitated, then said, “Dr. Han, I’d like a moment alone with Qinghan, if that’s okay?”
Han Rui instantly understood—he wanted her gone. She made a quick excuse and left.
Seeing her go, Lin Qinghan frowned slightly. She didn’t want to be alone with Lu Jianbai. She had no desire to date again, much less remarry, and she didn’t want to give anyone false hope.
Lu Jianbai softened his tone. “Qinghan, there’s a banquet tomorrow night. I was wondering if I could invite you to join me.”
Setting her chopsticks down, Lin Qinghan looked at him calmly. “Sorry, Dr. Lu. I don’t have time. You should ask someone else.” She stood up to leave.
“Wait—Qinghan, just this once, please? I couldn’t find anyone else on such short notice.” He added, “And… I know it’s awkward to say this, but I have helped you out a few times before. I promise, this will be the last time.”
Lin Qinghan’s fingers tightened around her chopsticks. She hated being pressured. But it was true—Lu Jianbai had helped her in the past. After a long pause, she finally frowned and nodded. “Just this once, Dr.
Lu. After this, there’s no need for you to worry about my affairs.”
With that, she picked up her tray and walked away, leaving Lu Jianbai sitting there with a dark expression.
All the Omegas in the hospital, regardless of gender, treated him differently—except for Lin Qinghan. No matter how he tried to impress her, she never wavered.
Lu Jianbai sneered to himself. Tomorrow, things will change. His family ran a construction materials business in Linhai—not exactly wealthy elite, but well-off. Getting an invitation to the upcoming banquet had taken a lot of effort.
He was sure that once Lin Qinghan saw the kind of circles he moved in, she wouldn’t keep choosing someone like Shen Xian. Most Omegas were still materialistic. With someone like him—an excellent Alpha from a good family—why would she choose Shen Xian?
Thinking of this, Lu Jianbai’s mood improved, and his appetite returned.
