Transmigrated into a Classic Dog-Blood Drama as the Scummy Alpha - Chapter 33
“Qinghan, what do you mean ‘my Xiao Xi’? Don’t talk nonsense. I was just helping her out, that’s all. Xiao Xi’s still closest with her ‘Mu-jiejie’,” Shen Xian hurried to explain, walking quickly after Lin Qinghan.
But Lin Qinghan only walked faster, forcing Shen Xian to trot after her while still trying to explain.
Suddenly, Lin Qinghan stopped in her tracks, and Shen Xian nearly bumped into her. Lin Qinghan turned around, stared directly into her eyes, and raised her brows slightly. “If you’ve got nothing to hide, why didn’t you tell me last night that you were going out with Jiang Xi? You clearly didn’t want me to know.”
Shen Xian was stunned. Last night, she had honestly thought it was no big deal. It was just a simple dinner party with a friend—totally normal, wasn’t it? Besides, it wasn’t like Lin Qinghan had told her that she would be with Lu Jianbai either.
“What would I be hiding? I was just helping Xiao Xi, that’s all. She even helped look after Tiantian last time when things went wrong. And didn’t you also not tell me you were going to the banquet with Lu Jianbai?”
Shen Xian’s voice grew smaller and smaller under Lin Qinghan’s increasingly dangerous stare.
Lin Qinghan hadn’t expected Shen Xian to bring up the past like that. True, she hadn’t mentioned she was going with Lu Jianbai—but then again, neither had Shen Xian said anything.
After studying Shen Xian for a moment, Lin Qinghan finally replied, “Lu Jianbai helped me before, but now I know exactly what kind of person he is. I won’t have anything more to do with him.”
Shen Xian nodded quickly. “Mm, mm. But judging from how he acted tonight, I doubt he’ll let it go so easily. He might still cause trouble.”
“It’s a hospital—plenty of people around. He won’t dare try anything. What I do want to know is: Shen Xian, are you seriously bringing up old scores right now?” Lin Qinghan raised an eyebrow at her.
Shen Xian immediately shook her head. “No, no, no! That was my bad. I shouldn’t have talked back.” She had the distinct feeling that if she didn’t admit her mistake, the numbers above Lin Qinghan’s head would plummet into the negatives.
Finally satisfied, Lin Qinghan gave her a glance and nodded. “Let’s go home. And be careful with that expensive dress of yours—don’t end up paying for it with your whole self.”
Shen Xian nodded, though she felt like Lin Qinghan’s tone was oddly… ambiguous.
They hailed a cab and returned home. Shen Xian had thoroughly enjoyed herself at the banquet and eaten plenty of snacks. But Lin Qinghan hadn’t had a single bite, only a belly full of anger. After taking off her gown and hanging it up carefully, she made a mental note to return it to Lu Jianbai first thing in the morning. She didn’t want any lingering ties to that man.
Shen Xian came out in a nightgown and saw Lin Qinghan sitting on the couch. “Qinghan, are you hungry? Did you eat anything tonight?”
Leaning back against the sofa and running her fingers through her hair, Lin Qinghan replied, “I didn’t eat, but I’m not really hungry either. I’ll just wait until morning.”
“Don’t be like that. I’m hungry, so I’m going to make some noodles. Just keep me company while I eat.” Shen Xian smiled and turned toward the kitchen.
Watching her back as she left, Lin Qinghan couldn’t help but smile faintly. Lately, she found herself looking at Shen Xian more and more fondly.
Especially tonight—at the banquet, Shen Xian had been so composed and commanding that Lin Qinghan had momentarily thought she was some group’s CEO. Too much had happened recently, and she hadn’t had time to sort through her thoughts. But could someone really change this much in just over a month? Especially when it came to temperament?
The Shen Xian she remembered was slick and evasive, with shifty eyes and no presence. But now? When she spoke, she looked you straight in the eye. Her presence had grown, and her aura was completely different. Lin Qinghan rubbed her temples, not wanting to think too hard about it. Still, becoming better is better than staying that flaky version of herself.
While Lin Qinghan was lost in thought, Shen Xian brought over two steaming bowls of vegetable noodles and set one down in front of her. “Qinghan, eat something. Everything that happened tonight is Lu
Jianbai’s fault, not yours. Don’t punish yourself for someone else’s mess. Just keep me company, okay?”
She shoved a pair of chopsticks into Lin Qinghan’s hands.
Lin Qinghan sighed. Shen Xian did have a point. And the noodles did smell good. She glanced at Shen Xian, then picked up some noodles and started eating.
“That’s more like it.” Shen Xian beamed. “No point hurting yourself over someone else’s mistake. Eat more—you’re too skinny.”
After a few bites, Lin Qinghan looked up. “By the way, the way you carried yourself at the banquet… didn’t seem like it was your first time.”
“Ha! Gotta put on a show, right? Otherwise, how would I have scared off that crazy Lu man?” Shen Xian replied casually.
Lin Qinghan nodded. It did make sense, so she didn’t press further. Glancing at Shen Xian’s nightgown, she asked offhandedly, “You used to hate wearing dresses, didn’t you?”
“Oh, I’ve just gotten into them lately. I think they actually look nice. What do you think? How do I look now?” Shen Xian asked, standing up.
She was wearing a black camisole nightgown that stopped mid-thigh, exposing her collarbones and a bit more. Lin Qinghan hadn’t thought much of it before, but now that Shen Xian pointed it out, she suddenly felt a bit flustered—especially since Tiantian wasn’t home tonight.
She took a few more bites of noodles before saying coolly, “Not bad. At least it’s not ugly.”
Shen Xian couldn’t help but laugh. Why’s she so awkward about it? They were both women, weren’t they? If it looked good, just say it looked good. Her Qinghan was unexpectedly cute.
“What are you laughing at?” Lin Qinghan glared at her.
“Nothing, nothing. Just eat.” Shen Xian suppressed her grin, not wanting to upset her.

Meanwhile, Jiang Xi had chased after Mu Siyu for a long way. But instead of slowing down, Mu Siyu only walked faster.
“Jiejie, what’s wrong? Slow down! I can’t keep up!” Jiang Xi shouted from behind.
Her heels were over ten centimeters tall, making the chase exhausting. Her voice even trembled. She didn’t understand why Mu Siyu was mad. Was it really because she brought Shen Xian to the banquet tonight?
Mu Siyu finally stopped, her brows tightly furrowed as she turned around. Jiang Xi rushed over, slightly out of breath, and asked with a trace of grievance, “Jiejie, what’s wrong? Are you ignoring me just because I brought Shen-jiejie tonight?”
Mu Siyu had flown in this morning just to surprise her. She’d heard Jiang Xi would be at this banquet, so she chartered a private jet straight from abroad, didn’t rest, and even changed into her gown mid-flight. But when she arrived, the first thing she saw was Jiang Xi with Shen Xian.
She couldn’t help but feel that, to Jiang Xi, all her efforts meant nothing more than a doting sister spoiling a younger one. Jiang Xi might consider many candidates for her future Alpha—but Mu Siyu would never make the list. If things stayed the same, there would be no future between them.
Mu Siyu let out a cold laugh. Jiang Xi didn’t even know what she had done wrong.
“I rushed back from abroad because I heard you’d be at the banquet. I changed on the plane and came straight here—and what did I see? You getting all cozy with another Alpha. Think carefully, Jiang Xi—what do you take me for? Just your ‘jiejie’? If you really don’t know, then stop messing with me.”
She turned to leave.
Panicked, Jiang Xi grabbed her hand and tried to act cute like she always did. “Jiejie~ My driver already left. Will you take me home? Or can I stay over at your place? Please?”
Usually, Mu Siyu couldn’t resist her when she acted like this.
But this time, Mu Siyu gently pulled her hand away. She looked straight at her and said firmly, “Jiang Xi, I’m not joking. Until you figure things out, we shouldn’t see each other.”
Then she turned and walked away without another word.
Jiang Xi stood frozen in place for a long while before the shock hit her. Did Mu-jiejie just reject me?
Her heart was in turmoil, and her eyes quickly turned red. She had never heard Mu Siyu speak to her in such a harsh tone before. For once, she had no idea what to do.

From the time she left the banquet to the time she got home, Jiang Xi had already sent Mu Siyu dozens of texts and called her six times. But there was no answer. No reply. No message.
By the time it hit midnight, she had lost count of how many texts she’d sent or how many times she’d called. This had never happened before. No matter how busy Mu Siyu was, she always answered her calls—always. But tonight, the phone just rang and rang.
Curled up under her blanket, Jiang Xi cried until her eyes were swollen. She finally tossed her phone aside and whimpered:
“If Mu-jiejie doesn’t want Xiao Xi anymore… then Xiao Xi doesn’t want Mu-jiejie either. I won’t talk to her again…”
She didn’t know how long she cried before falling asleep.
The next morning, her eyes were still swollen. Afraid her parents would notice, she stayed hidden in her room. Glancing at her phone lying on the carpet, she hesitated. What if? What if Mu-jiejie had been too busy with work last night to see her messages?
She picked up her phone nervously—only to find no missed calls, no replies. Her eyes reddened again.

Meanwhile, Mu Siyu was handling work while scrolling through Jiang Xi’s messages. There were over a hundred texts and more than twenty missed calls.
But none of the texts said what she wanted to hear.
She didn’t answer a single one.
Mu Siyu knew Jiang Xi was probably still crying, and yes, it pained her. But some things needed to be clarified sooner rather than later. Otherwise, what was she to Jiang Xi? Just a dear sister? Someone who’d one day watch her marry another Alpha?
No. Mu Siyu couldn’t accept that.
This was better. Let Jiang Xi figure out what she really wanted. Let her decide what Mu Siyu meant to her.
