Transmigrated Into an Ancient Famine Novel as a Scumbag Alpha (ABO, GL) - Chapter 101
Chapter 101
Ye Qing had already gone upstairs. She had traveled for many days and was truly exhausted. Even after resting all afternoon, Ye Qing went to bed early.
She woke up the next morning, feeling much better than the previous day. However, when she thought about the princess from yesterday, Ye Qing decided not to eat in the inn’s main hall. Instead, she went next door to call Song Zhao, and Ye Qing instructed the inn staff to bring their meal to her room.
Soon, breakfast arrived. Ye Qing and Song Zhao sat in the room and ate heartily.
Song Zhao ate and spoke nervously, “Master, that princess from yesterday won’t come looking for you this morning, will she?”
“I don’t care about her; she’s just a lunatic. After we eat, we’ll go out and explore,” Ye Qing said, dismissing the thought. She focused on eating first.
However, Ye Qing had only eaten half her bowl of noodles when an uninvited guest knocked on the door. From the sound, it seemed many people were outside.
Soon, someone knocked on Ye Qing’s door, and a voice said, “Ye Qing, you’re in there, right? I’m coming in.”
The princess pushed open Ye Qing’s door and saw Ye Qing and Song Zhao eating in the room.
Her lips curved slightly, and she said with a smile, “Oh, why aren’t you eating breakfast in the hall today?”
“I don’t want to be disturbed,” Ye Qing said, glancing at her coolly.
“Be bold! You see our princess and don’t bow immediately,” a guard beside Xiao Ying scolded, frowning.
Xiao Ying glared at the guard and said, “She doesn’t need to bow to me.”
Then, she smiled at Ye Qing again and pointed to several servants behind her, who carried food boxes.
“The breakfast at this little inn is inedible. I brought you breakfast from the mansion’s kitchen. It’s all delicious; you should try it,” Xiao Ying said.
Without waiting for Ye Qing’s response, Xiao Ying ordered her servants, “Come, bring the food over.”
“Yes, Princess,” the servants replied.
They placed various exquisite dishes from the food boxes on the table, but Ye Qing dared not eat them, fearing entanglement with the princess.
“Thank you for your kindness, but my friend and I are almost done eating. Take your food back; don’t waste it,” Ye Qing said.
Xiao Ying’s smile faded considerably. She looked at Ye Qing and said unhappily, “I came early to bring you breakfast. What are you still dissatisfied with? Why can’t you accept my kindness?”
“Princess, we only met yesterday; we’re not even friends. Your actions make me uneasy,” Ye Qing said with a sigh.
“What’s there to fear? I willingly brought you breakfast. You and your friend can just eat. What’s the issue?” Xiao Ying said dismissively.
Ye Qing sighed again, wondering why she couldn’t get through to this princess. Wasn’t her refusal clear enough? She wanted no involvement with royalty.
“We are mere commoners and dare not be friends with the princess. Please don’t make things difficult for us,” Ye Qing continued.
While Ye Qing and Xiao Ying argued upstairs, Jiang Jinhuang arrived at the inn by carriage with the little one and the Jiang family’s servants.
The little one held a wooden rabbit carving in her arms and had a small cloth ball beside her. She brought these to play with Ye Qing later.
Jiang Jinhuang had prepared many snacks and sweet soup from her courtyard’s kitchen, filling four food boxes, fearing Ye Qing and Song Zhao wouldn’t have enough to eat.
She waited anxiously in the carriage. Although they had been apart for less than a day, she felt she hadn’t seen Ye Qing in a long time.
Soon, Jiang Jinhuang’s carriage stopped at the entrance of Jinghong Inn. When she got off, she saw a luxurious carriage nearby, surrounded by more servants and guards than she had brought.
Jiang Jinhuang carried the little one off the carriage, followed by maids and guards carrying items.
She walked slowly into the inn’s hall. The waiter, seeing her demeanor, knew she was wealthy or noble and approached nervously.
“Miss, are you here to stay or eat?” the waiter asked.
“Neither. I’m here to find someone,” Jiang Jinhuang said calmly.
“What? Another person looking for someone?” the waiter muttered.
Jiang Jinhuang frowned but didn’t ask further. She said, “Check which room Ye Qing is staying in. I’ll go upstairs to find her.”
“Another one looking for Ye Qing?” the waiter said, nearly crying. Why were so many people coming for Ye Qing?
“Someone else came to find Ye Qing?” Jiang Jinhuang asked, frowning. She thought it unlikely since Ye Qing had just arrived in the capital and shouldn’t have many friends. If anyone, it could only be someone from the Second Highness.
The waiter whispered, “This morning, a noble lady came with more people than you brought. She went upstairs to find Ye Qing early.”
Jiang Jinhuang’s expression darkened. She didn’t ask which room Ye Qing was in, hugged the little one, and went upstairs, her maids and guards hurrying behind.
The waiter shouted from the first floor, “Miss, I haven’t told you which room she’s in!”
Jiang Jinhuang ignored the waiter and headed straight to the second floor. If someone brought many servants, they would likely be waiting outside the room, making it easy to find Ye Qing.
Sure enough, upon reaching the second floor, she saw many maids and servants gathered outside a room.
Jiang Jinhuang frowned and walked over. A guard blocked her path and said, “Who are you? Our princess is handling business here. Unrelated people, stay back.”
“I’m here to find my friend, and I’m not an unrelated person. My father is Jiang Changde, the Minister of Rites,” Jiang Jinhuang said. She carried the little one toward the room, and her observant maid opened the door for her.
Xiao Ying turned, about to scold whoever dared interrupt her conversation with Ye Qing.
When she saw Jiang Jinhuang, she looked surprised and said, “You? Why are you here?”
Jiang Jinhuang was also stunned, not expecting the princess of Prince Qi’s mansion to be with Ye Qing.
However, Jiang Jinhuang quickly recovered and bowed to Xiao Ying, saying, “This subject has seen the princess.”
“No need for formalities. But why are you here? Is Ye Qing a distant relative of your family?” Xiao Ying asked.
Jiang Jinhuang shook her head and said, “Your Highness has likely heard of my situation. In Linzhou City, Ye Qing saved me. We supported each other, traveling south together. When the northern famine eased, she escorted me back to the capital.”
Xiao Ying looked at Jiang Jinhuang, sensing hostility. Was that phrase “supported each other” claiming ownership?
Xiao Ying smirked dangerously and said, “I saw Ye Qing on the street yesterday and fell for her at first sight. You don’t carry a Qianyuan’s scent, meaning you haven’t bonded with her, so I still have a great chance.”
Jiang Jinhuang’s expression turned cold, and she said, “Ye Qing and I have long shared mutual feelings. Please, Princess, don’t make things difficult for us.”
“Is that so? If you truly share feelings, you’ve been together for over half a year. Why haven’t you bonded?” Xiao Ying pressed relentlessly.
Jiang Jinhuang pursed her lips and said, “Ye Qing respects me and wants to bond after we marry in the capital. By the way, I forgot to tell the princess, we already married once in Linzhou City.”
“Marriages can end in divorce. That’s no big issue. I don’t mind her past,” Xiao Ying said, as if challenging Jiang Jinhuang.
Ye Qing swallowed hard, unsure how things escalated this way. She interrupted quickly, saying, “Jinhuang, I’ll hold Yangyang for you. You must be tired.”
Jiang Jinhuang looked at Ye Qing, her face softening into a smile. She handed the little one to Ye Qing and smiled at Xiao Ying.
Ye Qing lifted the little one gently and asked with a smile, “Did you miss me?”
“I missed you! I brought my ball. Sister Ye, will you play with me?” the little one said, clinging to Ye Qing affectionately.
Ye Qing replied softly, “Sure, I’ll play with you soon, okay?”
“Okay, hehe,” the little one said, delighted, chattering on, “Sister and I brought you yummy food—milk cakes, peach blossom pastries, and lots of other tasty things!”
“Thank you for thinking of me, Yangyang,” Ye Qing said, bouncing the little one playfully.
Xiao Ying’s smile faltered. She looked at Jiang Jinhuang and said, “Using a child to keep someone is pointless. If you’re capable, rely on yourself.”
“As long as Ye Qing likes it, that’s enough,” Jiang Jinhuang said, smiling at Xiao Ying.
Xiao Ying glared at her, her chest heaving with anger, and said, “Fine, since Ye Qing is busy now, I’ll come back next time. But next time, I might just take her to the mansion.”
With that, Xiao Ying left arrogantly with her maids and guards.
Jiang Jinhuang frowned, worried. The princess of Prince Qi’s mansion was notoriously lawless, and Jiang Jinhuang feared she might actually take Ye Qing to the mansion next time.
Ye Qing was already playing with the little one, both shaking a wooden rabbit carving back and forth.
Jiang Jinhuang pinched her brow and sighed, saying, “It’s only been a day, and you’ve already gotten entangled with her.”
Ye Qing pinched the little one’s cheek and said, “Bad luck, really. Yesterday, that princess rode recklessly on the street, nearly killing a child. I saved the child and argued with her. That crazy woman, for some reason, came to the inn last night and again today after I rejected her.”
Jiang Jinhuang pursed her lips and said, “Prince Qi’s mansion is powerful. You really can’t stay here anymore. With her character, she might actually drag you to the mansion.”
“Who did I offend? I just saved someone, and now this lunatic is after me,” Ye Qing said, exasperated.
“The only solution now is to seek the Second Highness. You helped her, so asking for her assistance is the most suitable option,” Jiang Jinhuang said.
“But I don’t want to get involved with royals,” Ye Qing said.
“You have no choice now. Even if you leave the capital, she has ways to intercept you on the road,” Jiang Jinhuang said.
