Transmigrated Into an Ancient Famine Novel as a Scumbag Alpha (ABO, GL) - Chapter 31
Chapter 31
The little one saw that Ye Qing was silent, and her heart grew even more puzzled.
She tilted her head and finally couldn’t help but ask, “Sister Ye, why did you bite Sister just now?”
Was Sister Ye hungry? But even if she was hungry, she couldn’t eat Sister, could she? The little one thought to herself, tugging at her two little buns in confusion. She messed up her buns but still couldn’t figure out why.
Ye Qing was stunned by the question and didn’t know how to respond for a moment.
Ye Qing glanced at Jiang Jinhuang in her arms, noticing that her eyes were closed and her breathing had calmed down a lot, but she was clearly still unconscious and couldn’t help explain.
She had to brace herself and try to explain in simple words, “Your sister wasn’t feeling well earlier, and I was helping her. I didn’t mean to bite her.”
The little one blinked, clearly not fully satisfied with this explanation.
She pressed on, “Then why was Sister holding your hand so tightly? She doesn’t usually do that.”
Ye Qing felt a headache coming on and inwardly grumbled, “Seriously, why is this little white dumpling so hard to fool?”
After thinking for a moment, she decided to change the subject, “Yangyang, are you hungry? How about I get you some beef jerky to eat?”
The little one’s eyes lit up at the mention of food, temporarily forgetting her earlier question, “Yes, yes! I love beef jerky.”
Ye Qing secretly sighed in relief. Jiang Jinhuang was still leaning against her in her arms, and one of Ye Qing’s hands was gripped tightly by Jiang Jinhuang. She could only loosely hold her right hand, and then a piece of beef jerky appeared in her right palm out of nowhere.
It was from the stash they got from those bandit soldiers yesterday, and there was still some left. Now it came in handy to coax the little one.
Ye Qing opened her palm and said, “Yangyang, come take it yourself. Your sister can’t be away from me right now.”
“Okay!” The little one’s eyes sparkled at the sight of the beef jerky.
She climbed out from under the blanket, scampered over to Ye Qing with her short legs, and Ye Qing handed the beef jerky to her with her right hand.
The little one took the beef jerky and politely said, “Thank you, Sister Ye.”
Ye Qing gave Jiang Jinyang an awkward smile and quickly instructed, “Yangyang, go back to your blanket to eat. Don’t catch a cold.”
“Okay.” With something tasty in hand, the little one was extra obedient. She soon scurried back to her blanket, covered herself up, and started munching on the beef jerky.
With food in her mouth, the little one completely forgot her earlier questions and focused on eating her beef jerky.
Ye Qing finally relaxed a bit. Good thing this little glutton could be distracted with food, or how would she explain what happened between her and Jiang Jinhuang?
She looked down at Jiang Jinhuang and saw that her face was still covered in sweat. Ye Qing released a bit more of her calming scent to soothe Jiang Jinhuang’s emotions. After a while, Jiang Jinhuang seemed to fall into a deep sleep.
Ye Qing tried to pull her hand free from Jiang Jinhuang’s grip. After two attempts, she succeeded. She gently placed Jiang Jinhuang in the blanket, covered her up, and then stood up.
As soon as Ye Qing stood, she saw the little one watching her. Ye Qing gave the little one a helpless smile, “Yangyang, stay put. I’m going to get our horse and cart. Don’t go anywhere, and keep your sister company.”
“Mm-hmm.” The little one nodded earnestly.
Ye Qing thought for a moment, worried that the cave might be too cold. She went outside to gather some dry branches and used the flint and fire knife from her space to start a fire.
She tossed the branches into the fire to keep it burning brightly, then said to the little one, “Yangyang, stay put and don’t touch the fire. I’m really going to get our horse and cart now, or we won’t have dinner.”
“Okay, I’ll be good,” the little one replied sweetly.
Ye Qing then left with peace of mind. She didn’t go far, but she had to put on a show. The little white dumpling was easy to fool, but making a horse and cart appear out of thin air would be too outrageous.
Ye Qing first pulled the cart from a distance, dragging it into the cave before leaving again. Then she pretended to go get the horse, but actually went to gather more dry branches in the woods. After all, Jiang Jinhuang’s heat period would last at least three days, and Ye Qing wanted to save the firewood in her space for emergencies, so she gathered what she could now.
Meanwhile, Jiang Jinhuang slowly woke up after resting for a while. She was still very weak and couldn’t muster any strength, but her mind was clear now.
Jiang Jinhuang propped herself up with both hands, managing to sit up. She looked around, her senses gradually returning.
She remembered that her heat period had suddenly started while she was walking on the road. Then she felt dizzy and too weak to keep going. After that, Ye Qing seemed to come to her side and ask about her condition, but she couldn’t recall what happened next.
Where was she now? Jiang Jinhuang looked around and realized she was lying in a cave. A fire was burning nearby, so the cave wasn’t cold. Across from her was the little one, staring at her.
Seeing Jiang Jinhuang awake, the little one’s face lit up with excitement. She threw off her blanket and ran to Jiang Jinhuang’s side.
“Sister, are you okay now? You scared me,” the little one said, nuzzling her face against her sister’s while acting cute.
Jiang Jinhuang felt relieved seeing her sister was still there, but why wasn’t Ye Qing in the cave?
With that thought, Jiang Jinhuang asked, “Yangyang, where’s Ye Qing?”
“Sister Ye said she’s going to get the horse and will be back soon,” the little one replied obediently.
Jiang Jinhuang nodded, still feeling uneasy. She relaxed a little when she saw the cart in the cave. Their luggage, pots, and pans were all on the cart. If Ye Qing was going to leave, she would’ve taken the cart, right?
After thinking this over, Jiang Jinhuang remembered her condition. She was definitely in her heat period earlier, and there were no pills here to control it. So how did she suppress that burning, unbearable feeling in her body?
As Jiang Jinhuang pondered, she noticed a different scent in her body. It wasn’t just inside her—her clothes seemed to carry that scent too.
Jiang Jinhuang quickly brought her sleeve to her nose and sniffed lightly. It was the scent of green grape wine, very distinct.
Her heart sank to the pit of her stomach. That was Ye Qing’s scent, so Ye Qing had already…
Just thinking about it made Jiang Jinhuang’s eyes turn red, as if they might bleed. She reached for her bonding mark, her right hand trembling. The moment her fingertips touched the mark, tears slid down her cheeks.
Her trembling right hand could clearly feel that the bonding mark was swollen and warm, not flat like usual.
Jiang Jinhuang ignored the tears on her face and brought her right hand to her nose to sniff lightly. Another strong whiff of green grape wine hit her.
She closed her eyes tightly, her whole body trembling. That bastard Ye Qing had really done that to her. What was worse, she was actually drawn to this green grape wine scent. Was this the instinctive reaction of a Kunze after bonding with a Qianyuan?
Jiang Jinhuang’s heart felt dead. She hated how Qianyuan could control Kunze with their scent, and now she had become one of those controlled Kunze.
The scent on her was so strong that Ye Qing might not have just bonded with her—other parts of her body might have been touched too. Thinking this, Jiang Jinhuang’s tears flowed even more uncontrollably.
The little one didn’t know why her sister was crying, but she was terribly worried. She leaned in and asked, “Sister, why are you crying? Are you still feeling bad? I’ll go get Sister Ye.”
Jiang Jinhuang quickly grabbed the little one, “Don’t go. I’m fine.”
She took a few deep breaths, trying to calm herself. When her heat period hit on the road, if Ye Qing hadn’t saved her, her scent might have attracted more Qianyuan who’d lose control. Plus, she just realized that Ye Qing had only formed a temporary bond with her. The green grape wine scent in her body would fade on its own after some time.
Maybe things weren’t as bad as she thought?
But even so, Jiang Jinhuang felt humiliated and furious. She had never been so close to a Qianyuan before. No matter how you looked at it, Ye Qing bonding with her meant they had been physically intimate. Thinking this, more tears fell from Jiang Jinhuang’s eyes.
“Sister,” the little one saw her sister crying so sadly and started crying too, “Wahh, Sister, what’s wrong?”
Jiang Jinhuang bit her lower lip hard. She gently wiped the tears from her face and looked at the little one. Her only hope now was that her sister hadn’t seen her being humiliated by Ye Qing, or how could she face living in this world?
Jiang Jinhuang closed her eyes and unconsciously gripped the edge of the blanket, her fingertips turning white from the force.
She took a deep breath, silently praying for a while before asking, “Yangyang, tell me honestly, did you see what Ye Qing did to me?”
The little one wiped her tears and looked up at her sister with an innocent face.
Her eyes were still red from crying, but her gaze was clear and pure.
She nodded obediently at Jiang Jinhuang. She had indeed seen everything.
Seeing her sister nod, Jiang Jinhuang’s face turned pale instantly. She bit her lower lip hard, still clinging to a sliver of hope. She thought Ye Qing might not be so depraved as to do that in front of her sister, right?
Jiang Jinhuang asked anxiously, “Yangyang, tell me honestly, what did you see?”
The little one nodded sweetly at Jiang Jinhuang, her voice soft and sticky, “It’s just, Sister Ye bit you once, and then you kept holding her hand and wouldn’t let go. You rubbed your face against Sister Ye’s hand, like you were acting cute with her.”
The little one tugged at her little buns, looking puzzled, “Sister, why did Sister Ye bite you?”
Jiang Jinhuang’s mind was a mess, and the last bit of hope she had was completely shattered.
She bit her lower lip so hard it nearly bled. That bastard Ye Qing was far worse than she thought. Doing that to her was bad enough, but why did she have to do it in front of Yangyang?
