Transmigrated Into an Ancient Famine Novel as a Scumbag Alpha (ABO, GL) - Chapter 35
Chapter 35
The little one lay in her blanket, watching her two sisters with wide eyes. She couldn’t figure out what they were doing, biting each other back and forth. Why was her sister biting Sister Ye now? And it looked like her sister was crying and acting cute with Sister Ye?
This wasn’t her sister’s style. In her eyes, her sister was always graceful and gentle. So why was she grabbing Sister Ye and biting her?
The little one didn’t understand. Her small hands tugged anxiously at her two little buns, her big eyes blinking with curiosity.
But her sister had told her not to look, so she didn’t dare get up. She could only peek from her spot. The sisters seemed busy and hadn’t noticed her, so she boldly watched them openly.
Ye Qing indeed had no time for the little one. At that moment, Jiang Jinhuang seemed to have had enough. She released Ye Qing’s bonding mark but still occasionally nuzzled it with her nose. Completely drunk on the scent, she squirmed in Ye Qing’s arms, murmuring softly, “Ugh~ I’m dizzy, so dizzy. I feel bad, my body feels bad.”
Ye Qing was exasperated. Her bonding mark stung painfully. Without looking, she knew it was probably swollen. After all, Jiang Jinhuang had bitten and sucked on it for a while. It’d be strange if it wasn’t swollen. But she didn’t hold it against someone who was unwell.
When Ye Qing looked at Jiang Jinhuang again, she nearly panicked. Jiang Jinhuang was tugging at her collar, seemingly annoyed that her sweaty clothes were sticking to her uncomfortably.
Ye Qing quickly grabbed Jiang Jinhuang’s hand to stop her from pulling her dress. If the dress came off, Ye Qing would never clear her name.
Her hand restrained, Jiang Jinhuang grew unhappy. She squirmed restlessly in Ye Qing’s arms, struggling, “What are you doing? Don’t grab me. I want to take off my dress. It’s sweaty and uncomfortable.”
Ye Qing patiently soothed her, “Jinhuang, don’t be rash. Sweat is uncomfortable, but you can’t take off your dress now. When you’re feeling a bit better, I’ll heat water for you to wipe down. But not now. Be good and stop fussing, okay?”
“No, it’s hot…” Jiang Jinhuang kept wriggling and struggling.
With no other choice, Ye Qing held her tightly in her arms, keeping Jiang Jinhuang’s arms pinned so she couldn’t tug at her clothes.
They stayed like that for the time it takes to drink a cup of tea. Finally, Jiang Jinhuang fell into a dazed sleep. Ye Qing let out a long sigh of relief.
Not only was Jiang Jinhuang’s dress damp, but Ye Qing’s was too. She had no time to deal with it, though. Taking advantage of Jiang Jinhuang’s sleep, Ye Qing closed her eyes to rest. It seemed the night would be tough, as the heat period wouldn’t pass quickly.
Exhausted from the night’s ordeal and transferring so much scent to Jiang Jinhuang, Ye Qing fell asleep almost instantly without much effort.
The little one saw both sisters asleep and had nothing to do. She covered herself with her blanket, lay down obediently, but before sleeping, she was still thinking about what she’d seen.
Ye Qing slept deeply. She’d been doing most of the heavy work on this journey, so she was already tired. Combined with the day’s scent transfers, she slept even more soundly.
When Ye Qing woke, it was around 2 a.m. She was jolted awake by the heat from Jiang Jinhuang in her arms, who felt like a fireball. Ye Qing checked her face and saw an unnatural flush on her cheeks, her breathing rapid and her body trembling faintly.
Ye Qing wiped the sweat from Jiang Jinhuang’s forehead, then gently tilted her face to the left, exposing the swollen bonding mark.
Ye Qing sighed, resignedly bit down, and transferred her scent again. Jiang Jinhuang instinctively gripped Ye Qing’s sleeve tightly, trembling in her arms.
While transferring the scent, Ye Qing watched Jiang Jinhuang’s expression, careful not to hurt her. If Jiang Jinhuang frowned or trembled too much, Ye Qing paused to let her rest before continuing.
After a while, Jiang Jinhuang’s temperature dropped again. Ye Qing gently patted her back to soothe her. As her body stabilized, Ye Qing noticed the cave was getting cold. She glanced at the fire and saw it had gone out.
Looking at Jiang Jinhuang in her arms, Ye Qing decided to relight the fire. It would keep animals away and prevent Jiang Jinhuang from getting sick in the cold cave, especially with her fluctuating temperature. Ye Qing gently placed Jiang Jinhuang back in the blanket.
Thankfully, Jiang Jinhuang didn’t struggle this time and slept peacefully.
Ye Qing got up, used her flint and fire knife to restart the fire, and added thicker logs from her space to keep it burning longer.
After that, Ye Qing returned to Jiang Jinhuang. She carefully lifted the blanket and lay down. As soon as she did, Jiang Jinhuang instinctively snuggled closer.
Ye Qing held her, pulled the blanket up, and went back to sleep.
During the night, Ye Qing transferred scent to Jiang Jinhuang once more before sleeping again.
Both she and Jiang Jinhuang slept deeply, so the little one woke up first the next morning.
The little one sat up, her two buns messy. She rubbed her eyes, stretched, and remembered they were staying in a cave.
It was a bit cold, and the little one shivered. She stretched again, then turned to see her sisters sleeping soundly, wrapped in each other’s arms.
The little one scratched her face, unsure what to do. Usually, her sisters woke up first and helped her wash up.
Seeing them sleeping so peacefully, she didn’t disturb them. She nestled back into her blanket, playing with her hands.
Jiang Jinhuang woke first. The first day of a heat period was often the hardest. Having received enough of Ye Qing’s scent the previous night, she felt less weak that morning.
But as soon as she opened her eyes, she noticed something off. She was lying in Ye Qing’s arms, with Ye Qing’s arms around her waist.
Jiang Jinhuang’s face flushed with embarrassment. She’d been dazed last night and didn’t know what had happened. Now clear-headed, she didn’t question Ye Qing like before.
Still, her mood wasn’t good. Sleeping all night in the arms of a Qianyuan she disliked made her bite her lip hard just thinking about it.
She propped herself up, about to wake Ye Qing to let her go, when her gaze fell on Ye Qing’s neck.
Ye Qing’s skin was fair, and she wasn’t as tall as some female Qianyuan, only slightly taller than Jiang Jinhuang, with a slender frame. From the outside, Ye Qing almost looked like a Kunze.
Now, Ye Qing’s fair neck had several red marks, and her bonding mark was a mess, with tooth marks still visible and the tender flesh red and swollen.
Jiang Jinhuang’s heart raced inexplicably. Not because she had improper feelings for Ye Qing, but because she felt oddly guilty.
Who could have bitten Ye Qing’s mark? It couldn’t be her, could it?
She was raised reading classics and would never do something so reckless. Thinking this, Jiang Jinhuang closed her eyes, calming herself when she opened them again.
She pushed Ye Qing gently, calling, “Ye Qing? Ye Qing, wake up. You can let go now.”
Ye Qing was exhausted from the night, having transferred scent multiple times and been sucked on by Jiang Jinhuang. She was still groggy.
When she opened her eyes, her mind was foggy. Seeing Jiang Jinhuang’s face just inches away startled her awake.
“You’re awake?” Ye Qing asked, dazed.
Jiang Jinhuang felt awkward. Her body had recovered a bit, and she didn’t need Ye Qing for now. “Yeah, can you let go?”
Ye Qing quickly released her, explaining hurriedly, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to hold you. You had fevers several times last night, so I held you to transfer scent more easily. I didn’t do anything improper.”
Jiang Jinhuang got up from Ye Qing’s arms, looking away, “I know. I’m not blaming you.”
Ye Qing touched her chest and sighed in relief, “Good, good.”
As long as her favorability didn’t drop, she was fine. Thinking this, Ye Qing rubbed her face, still not fully awake.
Jiang Jinhuang kept her distance, avoiding Ye Qing’s gaze and not mentioning the tooth marks on her neck. They couldn’t be hers—she wouldn’t bite Ye Qing.
Whoever did it, Jiang Jinhuang decided not to think about it. It wasn’t her, and that was that!
Ye Qing didn’t notice Jiang Jinhuang’s guilt. She rubbed her face, got up, grabbed the water gourd, wet a cloth, and wiped her face, feeling more awake.
Seeing both Ye Qing and her sister up, the little one got out of her blanket.
She scampered to her sister, acting cute, “Sister, are you feeling better?”
Jiang Jinhuang lifted the little one onto her lap, speaking softly, “Much better, but I might be sick for another day or two. Be good and listen to Sister Ye, okay?”
The little one nodded innocently, “Yeah, I’m super obedient.”
“Good, our Yangyang is the best,” Jiang Jinhuang praised.
The little one basked in the praise. Soon, she ran to Ye Qing, “Sister Ye, help me.”
Ye Qing understood, helped the little one wash up, retied her two cute buns, and handed the washing supplies to Jiang Jinhuang.
“Clean up a bit. I’ll start the fire and go chop some branches. Shout if you need me,” Ye Qing said, grabbing the axe.
Jiang Jinhuang glanced at Ye Qing briefly before looking away, nodding faintly, “I know.”
Ye Qing left the cave to chop branches nearby. Maybe from yesterday’s exertion, she felt weak, and her stomach was growling. She planned to chop quickly and make breakfast—she was starving.
Back in the cave, the little one clung to Jiang Jinhuang, acting cute. After thinking, she asked the question that had puzzled her yesterday, “Sister, why did you bite Sister Ye yesterday? Why do you two keep biting each other? Is it fun?”
Jiang Jinhuang’s ears turned red instantly, her cheeks flushing.
She coughed lightly before replying, “Don’t talk nonsense. How could I do that to Ye Qing? Besides, didn’t I tell you not to look yesterday? Yangyang, have you been naughty?”
The little one quickly shook her head, “No, no, I’m good~ I didn’t see anything.”
Jiang Jinhuang relaxed, gently touching her sister’s face, “That’s better. Don’t tell anyone what you said, especially not Ye Qing, got it?”
The little one nodded obediently, agreeing cheerfully, “Okay.”
