- Chapter 10 - The Left Guardian’s Blind Date and the Suffering of Zhu Changxuan
Inside the most luxurious restaurant in Tianman City, three people were seated in a private VIP room.
Si Chou sat back with her eyes closed, looking thoroughly relaxed, while Song Yidao reluctantly massaged her shoulders.
“Pillar, pour me a cup of tea.”
“Right away. It’s a little hot, please be careful.”
Zhu Changxuan had quickly adapted to the role of a maid. In her previous life, she had been an ordinary worker, used to bowing and scraping in customer service. Serving Si Chou came naturally to her.
“Mmm, Pillar is so attentive. Song Yidao, you should learn from her.”
That remark made Song Yidao’s face darken. Her hands, still on Si Chou’s shoulders, pressed much harder.
“Ow, ow! Easy, be gentle! That strength of yours is too much for me to handle!”
Song Yidao remained silent.
Zhu Changxuan quickly smiled and asked, “Guardian, we’ve been here in Tianman for almost ten days now, eating and having fun. Shouldn’t we go look for the person you mentioned?”
Even Song Yidao grew curious. Though her opinion of the two had slightly improved over the past few days, she still disliked how Si Chou acted so casually around her.
Still, whenever Si Chou flirted with her and tried to provoke her temper, Zhu Changxuan would quickly change the topic or distract Si Chou, leading Song Yidao to suspect that Zhu Changxuan might actually have feelings for Si Chou. Was she jealous, and trying to draw Si Chou’s attention back? That would explain a lot.
Si Chou blinked as if just remembering.
“Oh, I completely forgot. What a pain. Let’s go after we finish eating. You two should try this roast beef. It’s juicy and tender. Absolutely delicious.”
Zhu Changxuan smiled awkwardly. “Ah… sure. I’ll try it.”
Song Yidao remained silent.
Meanwhile, back at the shop where Zhu Changxuan had bought the dried fruits, Zhu Shijing and Chen Tao were questioning the shopkeeper about the other spiritual locator stone.
Seeing how graceful and elegant the couple looked, the shopkeeper did not dare hide anything and answered honestly.
The spiritual locator stones were similar to regular spirit stones, except they had the added ability of location tracking.
Zhu Shijing frowned deeply, full of worry. “What do we do now? Is Changxuan alright?”
Chen Tao also looked troubled.
“The person wearing the locator stone had a mask on, but based on the shopkeeper’s description, it does sound like Changxuan. Han Xuejin doesn’t seem to be with her though, and the others she’s traveling with are unknown. Still, since they came to Tianman, they might stay for a while. Let’s keep searching carefully.”
Zhu Shijing nodded. “Alright.”
Outside the city of Tianman, high above in the clear sky, someone was streaking through the air like a bolt of lightning.
It was Han Xuejin flying on her sword.
Even Sui Sheng, who had seen a lot in her life, could not help but admire her.
“As expected of my master. You entered the Realm of Immortals and Demons, obtained the inheritance of the first Demon Lord, and even gained an immortal technique from a cultivator who survived heavenly tribulation.”
“In just a few days, you reached the peak of the Nascent Soul stage. Truly born under the stars.”
Han Xuejin showed no expression despite the constant praise. In fact, she looked even colder than usual.
Sui Sheng continued, “But is that Right Guardian of the Demon Realm really in Tianman City?”
Han Xuejin’s gaze was ice cold. “Yes.”
In her previous life, she had not stayed long in the Realm of Immortals and Demons.
She had left because the remnant soul of the first Demon Lord told her to go to the Demon Realm. But Si Chou had not been there. Instead, she was in Tianman City, trying to escort Fan Nimei back to the Demon Realm.
That plan got delayed for several months because Fan Nimei was searching for someone she had feelings for. In the end, she never found that person.
Thinking of Zhu Changxuan, Sui Sheng gritted her teeth in frustration.
“This time, we have to take that Right Guardian’s damned life.”
Han Xuejin’s eyes turned even colder. She clenched her fists tightly.
Back at the restaurant, after finishing their meal, Si Chou left by herself and went to the Matchmaker Pavilion.
This place specialized in setting up dates and arranged marriages. According to her informants, the Left Guardian had been visiting this place frequently during her time in Tianman City.
As soon as Si Chou entered the building, she heard a familiar voice.
It belonged to a tall, dark-skinned Alpha woman. She stood with her hands firmly on the table, speaking forcefully to a middle-aged matchmaker.
“Madam Huang, I’ve told you exactly what I want. I’m looking for an absolute beauty. Someone who looks like a cold and elegant fairy but also has a soft, fragile charm. Pale skin, tall and slender figure… and an Omega.”
As she spoke, the Alpha woman threw a large pouch of spirit stones onto the table.
“Money is not a problem. This bag of spirit stones is worth more than ten of your entire matchmaking halls.”
Madam Huang looked troubled. “My lady, please calm down. It’s not that we don’t want to help. It’s just that your requirements are very high…”
“We’ve already arranged meetings with over twenty unmarried Omegas, the best we have, and you’ve turned down every one of them.”
The Alpha woman grew angrier. She had come to Tianman City specifically because she had foreseen a fated encounter here. She dropped everything to pursue it, but so far, nothing had gone her way.
At that moment, Si Chou stepped out and said with a teasing smile,
“Well, well. Fan Nimei, you came all this way just for a blind date? Don’t you think it’s time to head back?”
Fan Nimei was surprised to see a familiar face, but she stayed firm and defiant.
“I’m not going back. Not until I find the person I’m destined for. I’d rather die here than return empty-handed. You could help me look, too. I’ve already calculated it—my ideal match is here in Tianman City. Even seeing her once would be enough.”
Si Chou was silent.
If they fought, it would end in mutual destruction. With no better option, Si Chou returned to the inn where they were staying.
She called Zhu Changxuan and Song Yidao over to help come up with a plan.
Si Chou explained what had happened with Fan Nimei.
Zhu Changxuan looked troubled. “Someone like that? How are we supposed to find a person that specific?”
As soon as she finished speaking, both Si Chou and Song Yidao turned and stared straight at her.
Noticing their strange, focused gazes, Zhu Changxuan became nervous and confused.
“Um… why are you two looking at me like that?”
Si Chou stroked her chin thoughtfully and said, “Isn’t the perfect candidate sitting right in front of us?”
Zhu Changxuan’s eyes widened in shock. She quickly waved her hands in protest.
“I’m an Alpha! That’s not appropriate at all!”
Si Chou chuckled.
“Well, I just so happen to have a special pill. If an Alpha takes it, their pheromones will smell just like an Omega’s for twelve hours. Pillar, you’ve got this.”
Zhu Changxuan panicked. “No way! What if I get exposed?”
Si Chou patted her on the shoulder with confidence.
“Don’t worry, that won’t happen. You just need to meet her once. If she’s satisfied, she’ll go back to the Demon Realm with me. I’m counting on you for this mission.”
Zhu Changxuan looked bitter and turned to Song Yidao for help.
“Senior Sister Song… what do you think? Isn’t this kind of crazy?”
Although Song Yidao did not have much affection for the other two, she found the whole situation amusing.
“It’s worth a try.”
Si Chou grinned as she pulled out the pill.
“Come on, Pillar. Time to shine.”
Zhu Changxuan could only stare in helpless silence.
