Transmigrated into the Early-Deceased Alpha Fiancée of the Female Lead - Chapter 2
Han Xuejin was kneeling at the center of the main hall, surrounded by judgmental gazes and whispered accusations.
The only people who might have spoken up for her, Zhu Changxuan’s parents, had recently left on a trip to Ice Demon Island to search for Heart-guarding Grass. They had not yet returned.
The ones who framed her had clearly chosen their timing well.
Her master, who was also the Sect Leader of Lingcang Sect, had always shown her little care. Now he sat on the high seat, staring down at her with an expression full of disappointment.
When Zhu Changxuan arrived, the Sect Leader, Dao Zhiming, was holding a letter that had been found in Han Xuejin’s room. He sat upright with authority, questioning her in a cold voice.
“Han Xuejin, have you been secretly colluding with the demon clan? If you confess, I will spare your life, but I will destroy your spiritual root.”
Another elder stepped forward and spoke up.
“Han Xuejin, you have betrayed the sect and joined the demon clan. Are you still going to deny it?”
The speaker was an Omega woman who appeared young and striking. Her Dao title was Fairy Furong. Although she had no Dao companion, she was admired by many inside and outside the sect.
Mo Lingchuan, the leading Alpha disciple of Lingcang Sect and one of Fairy Furong’s admirers, quickly followed her lead. His eyes were filled with disdain as he looked at Han Xuejin. His voice was cold and emotionless.
“The Sect Leader and Fairy Furong are right. Junior Sister Han, I will still call you that for now. But if you continue to deny it, then I will no longer recognize you as part of our sect.”
The surrounding disciples began to echo the accusations. They were convinced that Han Xuejin was guilty.
They looked at her with bitter envy. Her rare mutated ice spiritual root was enough to draw jealousy. She also had the favor of Zhu Changxuan’s parents and was even engaged to the most beautiful person in the sect.
Even though most believed that Zhu Changxuan was terminally ill and would not live much longer, they still thought someone like Han Xuejin, with that large and unsightly birthmark, was not worthy of her.
Fairy Furong observed the rising anger in the crowd. Her expression did not change, but the corners of her mouth lifted ever so slightly.
Kneeling in silence, Han Xuejin’s gaze suddenly clouded over. When her eyes cleared again, she saw the same familiar and hateful faces in front of her.
Had she been reborn?
If fate had given her another chance, then these people who wore masks of righteousness would not escape so easily. Han Xuejin’s eyes began to turn slightly red.
She quietly activated the Infinite Void Technique from her past life. It was still there. Although she could not access all her strength from her former Great Ascension stage, she could still use part of it. With a surprise strike, she just might be able to take down a few of them.
In her previous life, these people had chased her without rest. They claimed to act in the name of justice, but their actions were driven by selfishness and greed. Han Xuejin’s heart began to stir with cold anger.
Just then, Zhu Changxuan appeared.
Fairy Furong’s expression brightened. She looked at Zhu Changxuan with admiration and concern.
“Changxuan, why have you come here? You should go back and rest. Han Xuejin is not worth your time.”
Everyone turned to look at Zhu Changxuan, whose figure was slim and fragile.
Even though many had seen her before, her beauty still took their breath away. Her pale and delicate features softened the sharpness of her looks, giving her an ethereal and sacred presence, like a quiet and untouchable goddess.
The jealousy directed at Han Xuejin intensified once again.
Zhu Changxuan really wanted to scold all of them. Were they out of their minds? Framing and humiliating the female lead like this. Were they asking to die?
But she was too weak to speak up. A sudden cough burst from her throat. She quickly raised her handkerchief to cover her mouth.
Coughing violently, she almost lost her balance.
The female disciple beside her rushed to support her trembling body.
She had only meant to take a quick glance at the legendary beauty and maybe exchange a few words. She had not expected Zhu Changxuan to insist on coming to the main hall. If something happened to her now, would she be blamed?
Han Xuejin glanced sideways at Zhu Changxuan, who was coughing painfully, just like in her past life.
They had never had any real conflict. The bit of admiration she once felt as a young girl was just a phase. Later, after being mocked by so many other disciples, she quickly learned to see things as they were.
Her relationship with Zhu Changxuan had always been practical. Her parents offered Han Xuejin some protection, and in return, when she reached adulthood, she would dual cultivate with Zhu Changxuan to help extend her life.
Han Xuejin knew that Zhu Changxuan had very little time left. She felt some pity for her, but not much more than that.
Fairy Furong quickly turned to the Alpha disciple who was supporting Zhu Changxuan.
“What are you waiting for? Hurry and take Changxuan back to her room to rest.”
The Sect Leader frowned and said, “Lingchuan, go and summon Elder Yao to examine her.”
They could not use their own spiritual power to help Zhu Changxuan. Her condition was too complex and unstable.
Spiritual energy and pheromones that were not completely compatible could further damage her heart meridian.
Only Han Xuejin’s mutated ice spiritual root and matching pheromones could help soothe it.
But Han Xuejin was still only seventeen. She had not yet reached adulthood and did not have full control over her pheromones.
This was why Zhu Changxuan’s parents had not dared to allow them to dual cultivate just yet.
Zhu Changxuan shook her head and gently pushed the disciple’s hand away. Under the watchful eyes of everyone in the hall, she slowly and weakly walked to Han Xuejin’s side.
She wiped the bl00d from the corner of her mouth, then looked at Han Xuejin and said softly, “Stand up.”
Zhu Changxuan looked closely at the female lead’s face. Her features were actually quite beautiful. It was just the large black birthmark on the left side of her face that affected her overall appearance. But to Zhu Changxuan, she still did not seem ugly at all.
In fact, Han Xuejin had a great figure. She had a slim waist, long legs, and a full chest. Zhu Changxuan could not help but feel a twinge of envy in her heart.
Han Xuejin’s eyes widened in surprise as she stared into Zhu Changxuan’s clear and sincere gaze. There was something in those eyes that made it hard to look away, something that pulled her in.
She had already been preparing to stand up, but now she found herself rising slowly, as if in a daze.
Everyone around them looked on in confusion. Some were puzzled, others shocked, but most of all, they were displeased.
The Sect Leader’s voice rang out cold and sharp.
“Changxuan, what are you doing?”
She was the daughter of his senior brother and senior sister. The position of Sect Leader should have rightfully belonged to her father.
But because of her fragile health, her parents had spent most of their time away from the sect, searching for a way to save her. They had no time to manage sect affairs and were not suited to lead.
Even so, her parents’ strength was a pillar of support for Lingcang Sect, allowing it to stand firm among many powerful factions. Because of that, the Sect Leader had always shown her more patience and tolerance than others.
Zhu Changxuan took a shallow breath and steadied herself. She thought to herself that she was dying anyway. If she closed her eyes now, she might never open them again. In that case, she might as well use the last bit of her life to help the pitiful female lead, even if only by speaking a few words.
“Proof,” she said weakly.
Han Xuejin looked at the person standing in front of her. Something deep in her heart shifted. She could not quite name the feeling, but it stirred quietly inside her.
The Sect Leader gathered spiritual energy in his hand and floated the letter toward Zhu Changxuan.
She slowly lifted her hand to take it, glanced over it, and frowned slightly.
“This is it?”
She raised her eyes to look at the Sect Leader.
He struggled to hold back his irritation.
“There are remnants of demonic runes on the letter. Is that not enough evidence?”
Zhu Changxuan held the letter in her hand but said nothing.
Han Xuejin laughed bitterly in her heart. So in the end, no one would believe her.
But in the next second, Zhu Changxuan tore the letter into pieces.
Everyone in the hall was stunned.
Even Han Xuejin was shocked by her actions.
The Sect Leader’s eyes burned with fury.
“You… you…”
Fairy Furong, her hand hidden in the wide sleeve of her robe, clenched her fist tightly. Her nails dug into her palm as her anger surged.
“Changxuan, what are you doing? Are you insane?”
Inside, her thoughts were boiling with rage.
Why would she protect this ugly girl?
Zhu Changxuan ignored everyone’s reactions. She turned her gaze toward Fairy Furong and spoke calmly.
“Why are you panicking? Unless… this letter was yours?”
Just as the words left her lips, Zhu Changxuan’s body finally gave out. She collapsed backward.
Han Xuejin moved quickly and caught her.
She looked deeply into Zhu Changxuan’s face, twisted in pain. If she remembered correctly, this woman did not have much time left.
Without hesitation, she wrapped her arms around her and lifted her up.
She did not want her to die.
