- Chapter 3 - To Save You
Han Xuejin swept her eyes across the crowd.
Disciples of the sect began to draw their swords.
She released a powerful wave of spiritual pressure. Her eyes turned bl00d-red. Everyone froze in fear, no longer daring to step forward.
The Sect Leader narrowed his eyes. Her cultivation was clearly beyond the Golden Core stage. This level of pressure should not be possible. He dared not act recklessly.
Fairy Furong resisted the pressure, gripping her sword tightly.
She shouted, “You wicked girl, put down Changxuan now or else—”
“Or else what?” Han Xuejin said coldly as she cast her gaze at Fairy Furong.
Fairy Furong’s back went cold, and she instinctively took a step back.
Mo Lingchuan nearly lost his footing. Many of the disciples, overwhelmed by the pressure, could barely stay standing, using their swords to support themselves.
Han Xuejin spoke calmly.
“If you want to die, then follow me.”
After those words, she summoned the Thousand-Breaking Sword. Holding Zhu Changxuan tightly, she took to the sky on her sword.
For a moment, everyone stood in stunned silence. No one reacted in time as they watched Han Xuejin fly away with Zhu Changxuan in her arms.
The Sect Leader and a few elders were the first to come back to their senses.
Dao Zhiming felt Han Xuejin’s spiritual presence vanish and angrily threw his sleeve.
He was at the peak of the Soul Projection stage, and yet he had been intimidated by someone at the Golden Core stage. But that terrifying pressure she released, what was it?
Even though the pressure was not thick or overwhelming, it felt like it belonged to someone above the Soul Projection stage. What on earth was going on?
Could she have stumbled upon some kind of powerful treasure? If that was the case, he needed to find a way to take it. A woman like her, aligned with the demon clan, would only waste such a gift.
But the priority now was to contact his senior brother and sister. Once they returned, they would surely confront Han Xuejin. If she truly had a powerful treasure, she still might not be able to stand against two Soul Division cultivators working together.
And then, he would benefit from the aftermath. A perfect outcome.
With a dark and vicious look, Dao Zhiming gave out orders.
“Lingchuan, contact Elder Zhu and his wife. Tell them to return. Fairy Furong, take a few disciples and follow Han Xuejin’s trail.”
“And be careful. We do not yet know what demonic technique she used or what her true strength is.”
Fairy Furong nodded.
“Understood.”
Mo Lingchuan answered,
“Yes, Master.”
Fairy Furong left the main hall with several disciples in tow. Her eyes were cold. If she found Han Xuejin, she would kill her without hesitation. How dare that girl speak to her like that.
She was also furious. The letter she had planted in Han Xuejin’s room was meant to destroy her. Instead, Han Xuejin had escaped and had taken Zhu Changxuan with her.
Fairy Furong swore silently to herself.
“Han Xuejin, I do not care how your strength changed. There is no way you can really match me. I am close to the Soul Projection stage. I will make sure you suffer.”
By the time Han Xuejin arrived with Zhu Changxuan at the remote and shadowed valley of Youming, night had already fallen.
In her past life, Zhu Changxuan had not survived long enough for her parents to return.
Han Xuejin checked her breathing. It was even worse than she expected. Her heart meridian was in total disarray, and her water spiritual root clashed violently with her own spiritual energy.
She stopped beneath a tree and carefully set Zhu Changxuan down so she was leaning against the trunk.
Taking her hand, Han Xuejin began to channel her own spiritual energy and pheromones, trying to soothe the chaotic force raging inside Zhu Changxuan’s body.
The effect was faint, but it was working.
Zhu Changxuan slowly opened her eyes. She looked up and saw Han Xuejin, who seemed to be helping her. Her voice was weak as she spoke.
“Thank you. But I don’t have much time left. You don’t need to waste your strength.”
Han Xuejin pressed her lips together. Her eyes were firm as she said,
“I won’t let you die.”
Zhu Changxuan was a little moved. After all, she had only spoken up for Han Xuejin once, yet this girl was now going so far for her.
She also felt a stab of sorrow for her. It was heartbreaking that someone like Han Xuejin would treat a rare moment of kindness as something worth protecting at all costs.
But something confused her. How had they escaped together? Her thoughts blurred. In the end, it didn’t matter. She was going to die anyway. Overthinking it wouldn’t help.
She reached out and gently held Han Xuejin’s hand, the one still transferring spiritual energy into her.
Forcing a faint smile, she whispered,
“You don’t have to comfort me. I know my condition. Save your strength. You should run while you still can.”
Han Xuejin felt the warmth of her hand and looked at that soft smile. Her ears flushed with a faint pink.
Because of their engagement, a strange and unfamiliar emotion began to rise in her chest.
But Zhu Changxuan could not hold on any longer. She slipped back into unconsciousness.
Han Xuejin’s heart tightened. She gripped Zhu Changxuan’s hand with both of her own.
She stared at her with fierce determination.
“You will not die.”
Han Xuejin turned her gaze toward the depths of Youming Valley.
In her past life, she had passed through this place while escaping. Although she had nearly lost her life there, she had also been incredibly lucky. Deep within the valley, she had encountered a rare spirit beast with phoenix bl00d, known as the Sui Sheng Sparrow.
The Sui Sheng Sparrow produced one spiritual pill every thousand years. The pill could help cultivators break through bottlenecks in their cultivation. In the world of cultivation, ascending even one stage could mean a complete transformation. It was also said to cure any illness.
These were the legends surrounding the Sui Sheng Sparrow. No one could say for certain whether they were true or not.
But Han Xuejin knew for a fact that the Sui Sheng Sparrow lived in seclusion somewhere in this valley.
A year before her death in her previous life, the Sui Sheng Sparrow had produced a spiritual pill. It still kept the pill hidden, unused and unknown to anyone else.
Back then, the sparrow had formed a bond with her. Quietly, it gave her the pill, which helped her break through from the Golden Core stage to the Nascent Soul stage. Only then did she believe this absurd-looking bird was truly the legendary Sui Sheng Sparrow.
In her past life, she had used the pill to strengthen herself.
But this time, she looked down at Zhu Changxuan’s tightly closed eyes and thought,
In this life, I will use it to save you.
The valley was full of dangers. Poisonous plants, toxic mists, and savage beasts lurked everywhere.
Though she could not fully access her former strength from the peak of her cultivation, her current level was already at the Golden Core stage. That was no small feat, especially for someone with a mutated ice spiritual root. Among her peers, her abilities were considered exceptional.
Now that she had returned to this time and had begun merging with the Infinite Void Technique from her past life, even a cultivator at the Soul Projection stage would not be able to defeat her easily.
Holding Zhu Changxuan tightly, Han Xuejin gathered her spiritual energy and flew deeper into the valley.
As she flew, she recalled the sparrow’s habits. The creature was timid and liked to stay clean. It often bathed near water, especially to wash its rather unsightly feathers.
Following her memory, she located the stream where she had first encountered the sparrow. There, she carefully concealed both her presence and Zhu Changxuan’s aura.
Then, she silently stood guard, waiting in the shadows.
