- Chapter 4 - Sui Sheng, the Sparrow
Han Xuejin often thought that Sui Sheng was not particularly powerful. However, in moments of danger, she could turn invisible and completely mask her presence.
In her previous life, Han Xuejin had been chased by Lian Huazi and the others to the edge of a stream. Coincidentally, Sui Sheng had been there, thoroughly absorbed in cleaning her feathers.
Startled by the noise, Sui Sheng panicked.
Han Xuejin happened to make eye contact with the plump hen standing at the stream’s edge.
Terrified, Sui Sheng immediately vanished. Han Xuejin was stunned. The chicken had disappeared before her eyes.
Even so, she quickly moved to the same spot and waved her hand. To her surprise, she actually managed to grab hold of the now invisible chicken.
When Han Xuejin caught her, Sui Sheng struggled frantically and even spoke in human language.
“Please don’t kill me. I am very useful. Really, I am.”
Han Xuejin frowned slightly.
“Stop talking.”
“If you can make me invisible too and completely conceal my presence, I will spare your life.”
Sui Sheng responded in a panic.
“Yes, yes. Of course I can.”
She breathed out a white mist onto Han Xuejin, and her figure and aura disappeared completely.
They managed to escape from Lian Huazi and the others. Later, Han Xuejin formed a spiritual contract with Sui Sheng and accepted her as a spiritual pet.
Now, Han Xuejin did not know when Sui Sheng might appear again. Holding Zhu Changxuan, whose breath was faint, she dared not stop channeling spiritual energy to soothe her inner pulse.
Fortunately, after only a short while, Han Xuejin noticed the familiar, sneaky little hen quietly approaching the stream, glancing around cautiously.
She gently laid Zhu Changxuan down on a large stone, letting her rest.
Turning to face the dirt-colored, plump hen, Han Xuejin moved in a flash and firmly grabbed her with both hands.
Sui Sheng was shocked. She tried to flap her short wings, but Han Xuejin held her tightly.
Sui Sheng squawked in fear.
“Cluck cluck, please don’t kill me. I am very useful. Please don’t hurt me.”
Han Xuejin remained silent for a moment.
Recognizing the familiar tone, she said coldly, “Form a contract with me.”
Sui Sheng quickly nodded.
“Alright, alright.”
She could tell this cultivator was no ordinary person. Her spiritual energy was likely above the Nascent Soul stage. Forming a contract was her only way to survive.
Once the spiritual bond was complete, Han Xuejin released Sui Sheng.
“Give me a spirit pill.”
Sui Sheng blinked in confusion.
“Huh? You know I have one? Wait, do you know who I really am?”
Han Xuejin did not want to waste time.
“Sui Sheng, give it to me. Now.”
“Fine, fine. So impatient.” Sui Sheng muttered under her breath. Spirit pills were not particularly useful to her, but to a cultivator, they were priceless treasures.
She spat out a small, glowing spirit pill.
Han Xuejin crouched down and caught it, then quickly rushed back to Zhu Changxuan.
“Wait, don’t go so fast. Let me catch up.”
When Han Xuejin returned to Zhu Changxuan’s side, she helped her sit up. Then she paused.
Looking at the spirit pill in her hand, she frowned. How could she get an unconscious Zhu Changxuan to swallow and absorb the pill?
By the time Sui Sheng finally caught up with her short legs, she saw Han Xuejin holding an unconscious female alpha in her arms.
So her master now was an omega. It made sense. She was trying to save her beloved.
Han Xuejin hesitated, then made a decision.
It did not matter. Zhu Changxuan would not know anyway.
Letting go of her embarrassment, she placed the spirit pill in her mouth. Then, closing her eyes, she leaned forward and kissed Zhu Changxuan.
She gently pinched Zhu Changxuan’s chin, parting her lips slightly, and passed the pill into her mouth.
Breathing spiritual energy through their connection, she released her pheromones to help the pill fully integrate into Zhu Changxuan’s body.
Sui Sheng, watching the intense scene, screamed dramatically.
“Cluck cluck, she’s bullying the sparrow. She’s bullying the sparrow.”
After ensuring the pill had been properly delivered, Han Xuejin quickly stood up.
Her face flushed with embarrassment and frustration. She glared at Sui Sheng.
“Shut up.”
Sui Sheng was so frightened that she immediately buried her head beneath her wings.
“I didn’t see anything. I didn’t see a thing. I really didn’t see you two kissing.”
Han Xuejin was speechless.
The spirit pill worked remarkably well. When Han Xuejin checked Zhu Changxuan’s pulse again, it was no longer as chaotic as before.
Sui Sheng noticed the gentleness in Han Xuejin’s gaze as she looked at Zhu Changxuan. Clearly, this alpha meant a lot to her master.
However, that pale-faced girl’s body was seriously weak.
Sui Sheng hesitated for a moment, then said cautiously, “Um, Master, your alpha’s body is in really bad shape. Even with my spirit pill, she can only survive. Her condition is still very fragile.”
“In the future, if you two want to do any intimate activities, it won’t be satisfying at all. Your romantic nights might be in danger.”
“But your attributes are actually a perfect match. If you cultivate together as dual partners… heehee… that would be truly exquisite.”
Sui Sheng was about to make another cheeky comment, but one look at Han Xuejin’s cold and piercing stare made her shudder. She quickly stopped.
Trying to redeem herself, she added in a timid voice, “In the eastern Tianzhong Mountains, there’s a rare spiritual herb called Dragonbone Grass. It’s extremely hard to find, but I know exactly where it grows. It can rebuild the meridians and strengthen the body. It’s perfect for your alpha.”
Han Xuejin looked at Zhu Changxuan’s face, which had regained a bit of color, and fell into deep thought for a moment.
“Tonight, we’ll rest at your chicken coop.”
Sui Sheng mumbled under her breath, clearly displeased. “What chicken coop? That’s my celestial cave.”
Carrying Zhu Changxuan in her arms, Han Xuejin followed Sui Sheng, and together, the two women and one chicken made their way to a small, hidden cave in the mountains.
Han Xuejin gently laid Zhu Changxuan down on a stone slab inside the cave, then sat beside her and began meditating to recover her energy.
Sui Sheng looked on with tears in her eyes. The two had completely taken over her place, yet she dared not complain. She quietly curled up on the ground.
Next time, she would definitely jump into the stream and give her beautiful feathers a proper wash.
