- Chapter 8 - Appearing early again?
Si Chou and Han Xuejin were engaged in a fierce battle.
Two powerful forces clashed. Blades flashed and shadows danced, causing flocks of frightened creatures to flee in panic.
After escaping from the Seven-Star Python, Lian Huazi and her group followed the Bagua Compass to Tianzhong Mountain.
Their first stop was a small sect located near the mountain.
After discussing with the sect master, Li Wuping of the Omage Sect, he reluctantly agreed to help search for Zhu Changxuan. Considering the power of the Lingcang Sect and fearing future revenge, he decided to send his disciples along.
Li Wuping looked anxiously at his disciple, Song Yidao, and said with concern,
“Yidao, as the senior sister, you must stay alert and take care of your younger fellow disciples.”
Song Yidao, though petite and delicate in appearance, stood straight and firm. Her cute and innocent looks contrasted sharply with her serious and composed expression, giving her an oddly charming presence.
Her voice was clear and determined.
“Yes, Master!”
Li Wuping nodded slightly. As he watched his disciples leave with Lian Huazi, the worry in his eyes deepened.
His eldest disciple, Song Yidao, was not particularly gifted but had always been extremely diligent in her cultivation.
Since she had joined his sect decades ago, she had trained to nearly reach the Golden Core stage. Though not exceptional, her progress had been steady and reliable.
Her cultivation level was the highest among all his disciples, and that was already something to be proud of.
Li Wuping let out a sigh.
“I just hope nothing goes wrong.”
While Song Yidao and Lian Huazi’s group continued their search, a strange sound echoed from the western distance.
Lian Huazi narrowed her eyes playfully, then turned to the group and said,
“Let’s go check it out. Stay quiet and do not alert anyone.”
Everyone nodded in agreement.
Watching the birds flee in panic, Song Yidao began to worry.
Far ahead, behind a tall tree, Zhu Changxuan was holding Sui Sheng tightly while nervously observing the two people locked in battle.
Si Chou parried Han Xuejin’s attack with one clean sword strike.
His expression turned a bit more serious.
“Looks like I underestimated you.”
He then removed a silver ornament from his wrist and gave a wide grin.
“It has been a long time since I had such an enjoyable fight. Today might turn out to be a great day.”
The moment he removed the silver ornament, the dark aura around Si Chou intensified.
“Let me show you my full power.”
Han Xuejin was shocked. She had not expected Si Chou to already be at the Nascent Soul stage. He had clearly been suppressing his power. This was dangerous.
Si Chou did not give her a chance to think. He launched a sudden, fierce attack.
Han Xuejin had no choice but to brace herself and face the attack head-on. This strike was much stronger than before.
Zhu Changxuan watched as Han Xuejin began to lose ground, forced to retreat step by step. Her gaze grew tense.
She anxiously tried to come up with a plan. Sui Sheng could only hide one person using her aura-concealing ability.
Suddenly, Zhu Changxuan remembered the teleportation talisman her parents had given her.
It was a rare and precious item, capable of transporting one person a hundred li away. But it could only be used on one person.
Only cultivators at the mid Out-of-Body stage could craft such a talisman, and the materials were extremely rare. The crafting process was also long and complicated.
Her parents had spent a great deal of effort gathering the ingredients and refining the talisman especially for her.
Zhu Changxuan lowered her head and thought to herself,
“A chicken doesn’t count as a person. One person and one chicken should be able to escape. But two people would not make it.”
She leaned in close to Sui Sheng’s ear and whispered,
“I have a teleportation talisman that can instantly move someone a hundred li away. Conceal your aura now. I will distract Si Chou. When the time comes, get close to Xuejin, activate the talisman, and take her with you.”
Sui Sheng stared at Zhu Changxuan in shock.
Just as she opened her beak to object, Zhu Changxuan quickly covered her mouth to silence her.
“Please.”
Zhu Changxuan looked toward Han Xuejin, who had just received a deep cut on her arm and was barely holding back Si Chou’s powerful attacks.
“There’s no time.”
Sui Sheng bit down hard, made up her mind, and nodded.
Zhu Changxuan handed the talisman to Sui Sheng, who immediately concealed her aura.
Si Chou struck once again, forcing Han Xuejin back several steps. She did her best to stabilize her body.
Bl00d flowed down her arm and stained her white robes red. She could not help but think,
“Even in this life, does Heaven still wish for my death?”
Even if Zhu Changxuan and Sui Sheng escaped by concealing their presence, they would not make it far.
A feeling of despair grew in her heart.
“She wants to save me, but I cannot even save myself.”
As Si Chou prepared to attack again, Zhu Changxuan suddenly shouted,
“Wait, Si Chou. I have something very important to tell you.”
Si Chou paused and looked at her with confusion.
“Oh? What is it?”
At that moment, Sui Sheng silently approached Han Xuejin and quickly activated the talisman. The charm stuck to Han Xuejin’s leg.
In an instant, Han Xuejin and Sui Sheng vanished. They had been teleported a hundred li away.
Si Chou noticed Han Xuejin’s sudden disappearance, but his expression remained unreadable.
He slowly walked toward Zhu Changxuan, who had stopped speaking.
He reached out and gently lifted her chin. His rusty red eyeshadow and violet pupils made him look both mysterious and seductive.
He curled his lips into a smirk.
“You did that on purpose, didn’t you?”
Zhu Changxuan did not respond. She calmly met his gaze and said quietly,
“Your eyes are beautiful.”
Si Chou froze for a moment. A memory flashed through his mind. A woman gently patted a crying child’s head and comforted him, saying,
“Don’t listen to what they say. Your eyes are beautiful.”
He let go of her and chuckled.
“Fine. I’ve decided not to kill you. Hmm. Now that I look closely, you are quite attractive. From now on, stay by my side and serve me.”
Zhu Changxuan was stunned. The book had said little about Si Chou, only that his mood was unpredictable. But this?
She instinctively crossed her arms over her chest.
“The book never mentioned anything like this. Is it because I’m too beautiful? Is being beautiful a crime?”
“You… you’re an alpha, right? I’m one too. Don’t tell me…”
Si Chou rolled his eyes.
“Stop right there. I’m not interested in alphas.”
He calmly placed the silver ring back on his wrist.
The book never mentioned anything about a silver ring either. Zhu Changxuan decided to test him.
“This ring of yours…?”
Si Chou spoke in a calm tone, “This thing is not very useful. I just wear it when I go out to hide my killing aura.”
When Lian Huazi and her group arrived, they saw a woman in black talking with Zhu Changxuan. There was no sign of Han Xuejin.
As Si Chou noticed the group approaching, she smiled. Her expression looked cheerful, but it carried a terrifying edge.
“Well, looks like quite a few people have shown up just to die.”
Zhu Changxuan was confused and said nothing.
Lian Huazi realized they had been exposed. She and her group had no choice but to fly over and land in front of the two.
She looked at Zhu Changxuan, trying to hide her excitement.
“Changxuan, are you alright? Where is that wretched Han Xuejin? And who are you?” She glanced at Si Chou, then waved it off. “Never mind. Come with us for now.”
The other disciples from the Lingcang Sect all agreed with Lian Huazi.
The group that came with Song Yidao stayed silent and did not speak.
Si Chou was annoyed.
“Hey, if you want to take her away, shouldn’t you ask if I agree?”
Lian Huazi looked at the woman in black with suspicion. Her presence was dark and unsettling.
“Changxuan is from our Lingcang Sect. Who exactly are you?”
Si Chou looked irritated but did not bother hiding her identity.
“I am Si Chou, Right Guardian of the Demon Lord. Since I am feeling generous today, I will personally send all of you to the underworld.”
Dark energy burst out all around, surrounding Lian Huazi’s group.
Everyone was shocked when they heard her identity and quickly tried to resist the heavy pressure in the air.
Zhu Changxuan could not help them, and to be honest, she did not want to save people like Lian Huazi.
Seeing that things were getting worse, Lian Huazi panicked and shouted, “Do not be afraid. Attack together.”
Just as everyone moved to attack Si Chou, Lian Huazi suddenly turned around and ran away at full speed.
Zhu Changxuan stared silently at Lian Huazi, who fled as quickly as she could.
As someone close to the Out-of-Body stage, her escape speed was impressive. In the blink of an eye, she disappeared.
The Lingcang Sect disciples fell into chaos. Their leader had run off, and none of them dared to keep fighting. They all scrambled to flee.
Two of Song Yidao’s junior disciples were not fast enough. One was grabbed by Si Chou’s hand, while the other was stepped on and pinned to the ground.
Si Chou did not bother chasing the rest. She was about to deal with the two when someone rushed forward without fear.
Song Yidao charged at her with a sword and shouted, “Let go of my junior disciples!”
Si Chou looked surprised. She let the two go and dodged Song Yidao’s attack with ease.
“Run!” Song Yidao called out to her juniors.
Then she turned back and attacked Si Chou again.
Her junior disciples quickly escaped.
Si Chou dodged the attacks as if it were a game.
She moved in close, grabbed Song Yidao’s wrist, and forced her to drop the sword. It fell to the ground.
She stared at Song Yidao with amusement.
“Look at that. The two you saved ran away without even looking back. Was it worth it? Do you really want to die so badly?”
“Do what you want. Kill me if you must,” Song Yidao replied stubbornly. Her master had told her to protect her juniors, and she had done just that.
Si Chou gave a light laugh. “Alright. What is your name?”
“Song Yidao,” she replied. Then she closed her eyes, as if waiting for death.
Zhu Changxuan had been preparing to mourn the loss of this upright but unlucky person, but when she heard the name, she gasped loudly.
“Oh no!”
Si Chou turned to look at Zhu Changxuan. “Hmm?”
Zhu Changxuan stood frozen, not knowing how to react.
Si Chou looked away from her and smiled at Song Yidao again.
“Song Yidao, your looks suit my taste, and I like your personality too. Even your scent is amazing. Honestly, it is making it hard to control myself.”
“Why not become mine? I will spare your life and even protect you. How does that sound?”
Song Yidao’s face turned red, then pale. She was full of shame and anger.
“Never.”
Zhu Changxuan quickly spoke up.
“Sister, even I said I would be her servant if it means staying alive. As long as you live, there is still hope.”
Si Chou nodded in approval. “That is true.”
Song Yidao looked at Zhu Changxuan in surprise.
She really was as beautiful as the rumors said. A stunning woman. No wonder they called her the number one beauty. But her attitude was different from what the stories described. And she was an Alpha too.
She glanced at Si Chou with disgust. It was shocking to see that someone like the Right Guardian of the Demon Realm would be interested in both Alphas and Omegas.
Song Yidao replied coldly, “I would rather die than give up my dignity.”
Si Chou chuckled. “If you are not willing, I would never force you. You can serve me as a normal maid. If you ever change your mind, we can share a night together. How about that?”
Zhu Changxuan added quickly, “As long as the green hills remain, there will always be wood to burn.”
Song Yidao took a deep breath and swallowed her anger.
“Fine.”
She knew Si Chou was a terrible person, and she now suspected that Zhu Changxuan’s character might not be so great either. But what Zhu Changxuan said made sense. She had no choice but to hold back her pride for now. Still, if Si Chou ever tried to cross the line, she would rather die than give in.
Zhu Changxuan breathed a quiet sigh of relief.
That was right. According to the book, Song Yidao would eventually kill Si Chou. That event would help Han Xuejin in the future. She could not die here.
A hundred li away, Han Xuejin was flying back toward Tianzhong Mountain on her sword. Her face was pale and her expression looked lifeless.
Sui Sheng sighed beside her.
“Master, if you go back now, are you not throwing away that Alpha’s sacrifice?”
Han Xuejin stopped in midair. Her eyes looked dull. She already knew that.
She was still too weak. She could not even protect one person. Pain and sadness filled her heart.
She had to become stronger. Stronger than anyone.
And if the world insisted on dragging her to hell, then she would make sure everyone went with her, including herself.
