Transmigrated into the Film Empress Sister's Sugar Baby Alpha (GL) - Chapter 11
It was still early. The late summer morning had less heat and more coolness. Light streamed in through the gaps in the curtains, vaguely revealing golden dust motes, scattered and dancing in the light.
Shen Yishu was worried about her IOU, an IOU worth her entire payment for a show. Last night, Ji Xiangyu said she didn’t need to pay her back, and though Shen Yishu didn’t say it aloud, she was happy inside.
It felt like walking down the street and having a steamed bun with meat filling fall from the sky, only to realize upon closer inspection that she had made it herself that morning. Still, there was a sense of unexpected surprise.
Before Ji Xiangyu left the bedroom, Shen Yishu nervously asked, “Film Empress Ji, you said last night I didn’t need to pay you back. Can the IOU be voided?”
Ji Xiangyu had gotten up to wash up. Her fingers had just grasped the doorknob when she paused at the words, looking back with a half-smile.
“Did I say that last night?”
Shen Yishu: …
Years of public speaking experience enabled her to maintain an outward composure in any situation, but only outwardly.
“Don’t you remember?” Shen Yishu asked with a wronged expression.
“I remember, but it’s morning now, and I’ve changed my mind,” Ji Xiangyu said quite frankly, without any hint of bullying a junior.
Shen Yishu: “?”
“The photos can’t be bought, but subsequent public relations will cost money,” Ji Xiangyu had slept well and was in a good mood, her voice unusually gentle. “Will your company help you with public relations?”
Shen Yishu thought for a few seconds and felt that they probably wouldn’t.
The original novel briefly described Shen Yishu’s company: an industry cancer, only knowing how to follow the wind.
For a company like that, upon learning that she and Ji Xiangyu were trending on hot searches, they would most likely add fuel to the fire by buying more hot searches to let her piggyback on the popularity. Being notorious was still being famous. The entertainment industry had always only recognized traffic, not scandals, unless it was illegal activity. Otherwise, after a few years, not many people would remember what happened.
“I understand. I’ll pay for this,” Shen Yishu sighed. She thought that trending topics would just die down when people stopped discussing them, but she hadn’t expected that a team would be needed for public relations.
“I’ll have my team also keep an eye out for any opposing parties stepping in. It won’t cost too much. You can just pay my team directly for the actual expenses, like it’s outsourced.”
“You’ve just entered the industry, and your path ahead is long. There’s no need to be too closely linked with me at this juncture; it’s not good for you.”
A young actor who had just entered the industry and got involved with the swirling undercurrents at the center of the entertainment world would find her future path extremely susceptible to sabotage from Ji Xiangyu’s rivals. Few dared to trip up Ji Xiangyu, but many would dare to target Shen Yishu.
Shen Yishu nodded thoughtfully.
She was just an outsider, but even occasionally glancing at the entertainment industry, she could glimpse the fierce competition between celebrities, like vibrant flowers in a garden, each striving to outdo the other.
Is this what it feels like to have everything perfectly arranged? She seemed to understand how it felt in university when she planned all the trips, and her roommates just had to follow her.
At that time, her roommates said that with her, they didn’t have to worry about anything, just enjoy the beautiful scenery outside the window.
Shen Yishu now looked at Ji Xiangyu as her roommates looked at her back then. Without Ji Xiangyu, the beginning of her transmigration journey would have been exceptionally difficult.
Having Ji Xiangyu allow her to temporarily hold onto her leg (rely on her) gave her a glimmer of hope in a disastrous start.
Shen Yishu felt very moved inside, even forgetting about the money for a few seconds, only wanting to exclaim: Is this what it feels like to be a kept man/woman?
She didn’t think too much. While Ji Xiangyu was in the bathroom, she quickly changed, ready to say goodbye to Ji Xiangyu and go back to her narrow little standard room to tidy up.
Ji Xiangyu came out and saw her neatly folded nightgown by the bed. She gave her a strange glance and said, “Take this dress with you.”
Seeing Shen Yishu look confused, she continued, “I won’t wear it again. Take it back and wear it.”
Shen Yishu thought the same, how could Ji Xiangyu lack a nightgown? She showed a docile smile, held the dress in her hands, and said sweetly and ingratiatingly, “Thank you for the dress, Sister.”
“You can leave it here too,” Ji Xiangyu suddenly remembered something.
Shen Yishu had just turned to leave and almost thought she had misheard, turning around in surprise: “Huh?”
Ji Xiangyu: …
She closed her eyes, swallowing the words “Anyway, you’ll be back later.”
“I’ll get you a bag for it. If you run into anyone on the way, just say you’re delivering a script to me,” Ji Xiangyu rummaged through her wardrobe for a paper bag, took the nightgown from Shen Yishu’s hand, where a faint trace of Alpha scent and warmth lingered, like invisible threads entwined around her fingertips.
Ji Xiangyu found a box of peach cake in the fridge and placed it on top of the dress, perfectly covering it.
“Go back. Forget about last night’s incident,” Ji Xiangyu leaned lazily against the fridge, her slender legs crossed.
The still-gentle sunlight lazily chased into the room, falling on Ji Xiangyu’s long hair, scattered like seaweed, drilling into her strands. Her back to the light, her expression faint, she concealed all her thoughts in her eyes, looking at Shen Yishu.
“I’m leaving!” Shen Yishu deeply etched the radiant Ji Xiangyu into her eyes, waved, and walked out.
“Mhm.”
Shen Yishu didn’t meet anyone else on her way back, but she did encounter Lin Luosheng, who was just leaving for breakfast, at the door.
Lin Luosheng was bare-faced, with a high ponytail, only wearing sportswear, yet she exuded an air of arrogance. She had just come out of her room and met Shen Yishu’s gaze directly. This was the first time Shen Yishu had met the female lead, Lin Luosheng, alone since transmigrating.
“Morning,” The original owner looked down on Lin Luosheng, but Shen Yishu had no particular opinion of her.
“Morning.” Lin Luosheng wrinkled her nose, not understanding why Shen Yishu had suddenly become so presentable and was even greeting her. She subconsciously felt it was a trick.
Shen Yishu had no intention of chatting with her further. She hadn’t slept well last night, and since today’s filming started late, she wanted to get some more sleep.
“Stop right there,” Lin Luosheng called out to her.
Shen Yishu: “?”
“You just came back from my cousin… Senior Ji Xiangyu’s place?”
Shen Yishu wondered if Lin Luosheng had transmigrated from another book, a book titled Transmigrating as the Film Empress Sister’s Kept Alpha, otherwise, how could she have been discovered even after reaching the door of her room?
“I went to deliver a script to her,” Shen Yishu used the excuse Ji Xiangyu had taught her to deal with Lin Luosheng.
“You’re lying. You have her pheromone scent on you,” Lin Luosheng would never mistake Ji Xiangyu’s pheromones. She didn’t know what happened that night, so she had no idea about Shen Yishu and Ji Xiangyu’s relationship.
“Mhm,” Shen Yishu sniffed carefully, “Do I?”
The rosemary scent had enveloped her all night, and she was completely immune to it now.
“Do you know my cousin’s secret?” Lin Luosheng fiercely snatched the bag. The cake box moved, revealing the neatly folded silk nightgown inside.
“Were you stealing?” Lin Luosheng looked at her suspiciously, flipping up a corner of the skirt.
Shen Yishu followed her gaze. A hand-embroidered character for “Yu” (雨) was hidden behind the washing label on the inside of the skirt hem, like a delicate anti-counterfeit mark.
“…” Would you believe me if I said Sister gave it to me?
Lin Luosheng took a deep breath: “If you expose my cousin’s secret, you’ll regret it!”
