Transmigrated into the Film Empress Sister's Sugar Baby Alpha (GL) - Chapter 15
Lin Luosheng listened to Ji Xiangyu’s explanation this morning and felt increasingly wronged on Ji Xiangyu’s behalf.
Why did no one else faint outside Ji Xiangyu’s room, but it had to be Shen Yishu? And why did it have to be when Ji Xiangyu was in her estrus period?
If it were someone else, Lin Luosheng might grudgingly believe there were other reasons.
But Shen Yishu was highly untrustworthy. Lin Luosheng simply didn’t believe she was unintentional. Everyone in the industry wanted to curry favor with Ji Xiangyu. In Lin Luosheng’s eyes, Shen Yishu was just one of them.
It was just that Shen Yishu had succeeded.
Shen Yishu felt Lin Luosheng’s gaze scrutinizing her, filled with suspicion and anger. If Lin Luosheng’s eyes were laser emitters, Shen Yishu felt she would have already been shot full of holes.
She was very helpless and had no explanation.
In any case, since Lin Luosheng wasn’t harmed, there was no direct reason for her to cause trouble. Even a novel’s protagonist needed cause and effect. Shen Yishu was too lazy to explain now; once the evidence was complete, the truth would naturally come to light.
She spent the past two days idly flipping through the original owner’s phone and found that the original owner was more foolish than bad. She did whatever others told her to, and easily got angry when provoked, a complete simpleton.
To involve the original owner in such a big plan, she didn’t believe the original owner wouldn’t boast or spill the beans to someone. The most likely scenario was that the original owner was also a part of someone else’s plan, completely unaware before getting involved.
Tonight’s filming was almost done, and the director called it a wrap.
Shen Yishu remembered she had no shooting scheduled for tomorrow, so she stepped back to ask the director for leave, planning to go back to the Shen family home tomorrow.
Having filmed a very good scene tonight, the director was in a joyous mood and approved a day off without hesitation.
Shen Yishu thanked him and walked towards the exit, ready to return to the hotel with Zhu Li, who had already called a car.
She had walked a few steps when she saw Ji Xiangyu standing outside the corridor, her expression cool, like the cold moonlight in the courtyard earlier.
“Teacher Ji,” Shen Yishu greeted her, intending to leave, thinking Ji Xiangyu was waiting for Lin Luosheng. But after greeting, she saw Lin Luosheng standing beside her, looking down at her phone.
“Let’s talk,” Ji Xiangyu stopped her.
“Is something wrong?” Shen Yishu walked slowly beside Ji Xiangyu.
Because they were on set, Shen Yishu deliberately changed her address, afraid of others hearing and overthinking. She also kept Ji Xiangyu’s advice in mind, to keep her distance publicly.
“You’re going back to the Shen family tomorrow?”
“Mhm.”
“I’ll drive you. Come to the hospital with me.”
Shen Yishu’s mind conjured a terrifying scene of Ji Xiangyu having her kidneys removed and discarded in the wilderness to avenge Lin Luosheng.
“You don’t want to go?” Ji Xiangyu saw her not reply and leaned closer to ask.
“Why go to the hospital?” Shen Yishu didn’t directly refute.
“To check pheromone compatibility,” Ji Xiangyu didn’t hide anything.
Ancient-style buildings stood by the road, flagstone paths underfoot, and the lingering heat of the sun. Staff members jogged past occasionally, stopping to greet both of them.
“Why check compatibility?” Shen Yishu was a bit confused.
Pheromone compatibility checks were usually for young couples in passionate relationships wanting to prove their physical and mental compatibility, or for engaged couples about to marry, checking for ease of writing on their marriage certificate.
She and Ji Xiangyu weren’t a passionate young couple, nor engaged. At best, they were fleeting acquaintances who had shared a night. If they went for the check, where most people were deeply in love, wouldn’t they seem out of place?
“Just say whether you’re going or not. You’re asking as if Cousin would harm you,” Lin Luosheng, who had just replied to two messages from Zheng Shu, looked up and heard Shen Yishu’s hesitant question, replying impatiently.
“Ah Sheng, go back first. I want to talk to Shen Yishu alone for a few words,” Ji Xiangyu stroked Lin Luosheng’s hair, saying softly.
“Understood, be careful, stay safe,” Lin Luosheng put away her phone, instructing Ji Xiangyu verbally, but her eyes were fixed on Shen Yishu.
Then she walked off with Ji Xiangyu’s assistant, leaving the two of them to walk slowly behind.
“Are you worried I’ll do something to you?” The streetlights at the film base were very dim, so dim that even with someone walking right beside her, Shen Yishu couldn’t clearly see the expression on her face.
“No…”
Shen Yishu was stumped. Frankly, Ji Xiangyu had been the kindest person to her in this world from beginning to end. Although she was constantly wary of everything in this world, she had to admit that Ji Xiangyu held no ill will towards her.
“I’ll go with you.”
“I’ll finish filming tomorrow lunchtime, and then I’ll come directly to your room to find you,” Ji Xiangyu’s eyes curved as she got a satisfactory answer.
“You pick a place for dinner tonight, and I’ll go with you,” Ji Xiangyu said.
She wanted to find out as soon as possible if it was really Shen Yishu who had done it.
“Isn’t that inappropriate?” Shen Yishu could already imagine how dramatic she would be tomorrow when trying to extract information. The original owner’s image as a dissolute noble was too far from her own. She had been practicing the original owner’s tone whenever she had free time these past few days, hoping to get all the information in one go.
“After dinner, I’ll bring you back. It’s not safe for you to go back alone,” Ji Xiangyu didn’t understand what Shen Yishu was thinking. She just wanted to avoid information errors caused by second-hand accounts. She wanted to judge for herself whether Shen Yishu was trustworthy.
The people she sent to track the paparazzi had just told her today that they could confirm Shen Yishu was not involved in the incident, that she was truly innocently dragged in, and not actively plotting to leverage her influence.
As long as Shen Yishu had no connection to them and hadn’t done anything to wrong Lin Luosheng, then Shen Yishu would pass the test.
Shen Yishu was thinking about how she could extract information smoothly without Ji Xiangyu seeing her embarrassing act.
“Hey.”
Ji Xiangyu pulled her, and Shen Yishu, caught off guard, stepped directly on Ji Xiangyu’s foot. Her shoulder blade hit something soft, as if she were being embraced.
In that instant, Shen Yishu felt as if she had developed skin hunger, and deeply wanted to turn around and hug her tightly, just like in the scene earlier.
But Ji Xiangyu wasn’t the real Zhou Yi, and she wasn’t the real Li Jin; there was no reason.
Ji Xiangyu let out a low groan of pain, startling Shen Yishu, who quickly took two steps back and looked down closely.
Fortunately, she was wearing ordinary canvas shoes today, without heels. Even so, Ji Xiangyu’s white shoe had a dark grey footprint on it, a black mark on white, conspicuously dirty.
A small electric scooter stopped where Shen Yishu had just been standing. The rider was none other than their drama’s director.
“Director, you should be more careful with your riding skills,” Ji Xiangyu frowned, her tone reproachful, “You almost hit someone.”
“I’m sorry, Xiao Shen, are you okay?” The director also felt a bit embarrassed, rubbing his head and apologizing.
“I’m fine,” Shen Yishu wanted to cry but had no tears.
It wasn’t her that was in trouble, it was her wallet.
The moment she looked down, she clearly saw the logo on Ji Xiangyu’s white shoe. It was from a famous luxury brand. Those shoes must cost tens of thousands, at least. She had also heard that luxury brand clothes and shoes were very delicate and would be ruined if washed. Thinking of the IOU she hadn’t gotten back, her heart ached even more.
After the director rode his small electric scooter away, Shen Yishu nervously took Ji Xiangyu’s hands.
“Sister, does your foot hurt?”
“No.”
“Sister, how much do these shoes cost?”
Ji Xiangyu looked at Shen Yishu, who was holding her hands, with a mixture of amusement and exasperation. The other person seemed genuinely worried about having to pay for these shoes. She was, after all, raised in a wealthy family, and her attire didn’t look cheap. Why was she always so worried about money?
“If you’re well-behaved, you won’t have to pay.”
