Transmigrated into the Film Empress Sister's Sugar Baby Alpha (GL) - Chapter 16
The next day, right after lunch, Shen Yishu received a message from Ji Xiangyu.
[Yu: Be in the underground parking garage in ten minutes, license plate number Jing AXXXX.]
Yesterday, she and Ji Xiangyu had added each other as friends, but since both were busy, they hadn’t chatted. Now, Shen Yishu replied with a “Got it” and opened Ji Xiangyu’s WeChat profile.
Her Moments background was completely black, and her profile picture was a small orange cat. Shen Yishu clicked to look closely. The photo must have been taken many years ago; it wasn’t high-definition, and if you looked carefully, there were pixel squares. The little orange cat was probably four or five months old, orange and white, with a round pink nose, gazing blankly at the camera, its expression frozen.
Her Moments were set to only show the last six months, and it was bare. Just like Ji Xiangyu’s appearance, cold as ice. The only approachable thing was the cat in the profile picture, so soft and completely different from Ji Xiangyu’s outward demeanor.
But Shen Yishu felt that this cat was probably Ji Xiangyu’s true inner self.
When Shen Yishu, wearing a mask and sunglasses, arrived at the underground parking garage, Ji Xiangyu was already waiting below.
It was a white SUV, a brand that didn’t quite match Ji Xiangyu’s celebrity status. Ji Xiangyu stood leaning against the car, wearing sunglasses, dressed in a simple short-sleeved top and jeans. Seeing Shen Yishu descend from the elevator, she took off her sunglasses. In an instant, even the dim basement seemed to brighten considerably.
“Get in, we’re going to the hospital first,” Ji Xiangyu wasted no time.
She had an appointment with her doctor at three in the afternoon. If there was no traffic from the suburbs to the city, they would just barely make it on time. Her private doctor was a busy person, and if they missed this time, they’d have to reschedule.
Shen Yishu hesitated whether to sit in the front passenger seat or the back seat. No matter where she sat, it made her feel like she had no legitimate claim. A famous film empress driving for her—she feared she’d be beaten by Ji Xiangyu’s admirers if word got out.
“Front passenger seat.”
Ji Xiangyu made the decision for her.
Shen Yishu pulled the door open and got in.
A faint citrus scent, Ji Xiangyu’s usual perfume, wafted in the car. Some cars tended to accumulate odors, and spraying perfume would make it even more stuffy. Perhaps because the citrus scent was naturally refreshing enough, Shen Yishu didn’t smell any peculiar odors.
“Seatbelt,” Ji Xiangyu reminded her.
“Buckled,” Shen Yishu fastened her seatbelt and obediently answered Ji Xiangyu’s question.
Since last night, she had been the most obedient person to Ji Xiangyu in the world, for no other reason than that she didn’t want to incur another debt.
Ji Xiangyu took a pair of gold-rimmed glasses from the center console and put them on. Shen Yishu had the illusion that she wasn’t in a car, but in a university professor’s lecture.
A simple white short-sleeved top, black hair pulled back to reveal her fair, slender neck, forearms gripping the steering wheel, her expression focused, not like she was driving, but like a leader delivering a concluding opinion at a meeting of elite executives in some company.
“Shen Yishu.”
“Hm?”
“What are you planning to do after this drama finishes?”
Ji Xiangyu’s gaze was fixed ahead. Though she was speaking, her attention was mostly on the road.
“Haven’t decided yet,” Shen Yishu sounded a bit melancholic.
She definitely couldn’t go back to the Shen family. She did want to continue acting, but without financial support from the Shen family and with her company’s dubious practices, whether she’d even get another acting job was questionable.
However, Shen Yishu’s personality leaned towards optimism. Things will work out eventually. If her role in this drama gained a little popularity, she should be able to find a supporting role in the next one. If not, starting as an extra wouldn’t be bad either.
Ji Xiangyu didn’t ask further.
The car drove into a private hospital’s parking lot. Ji Xiangyu put on her sunglasses and mask. Seeing Shen Yishu unbuckle her seatbelt and about to open the door, she quickly grabbed her arm.
“Cover up a bit.”
Shen Yishu had forgotten to wear a hat when she left. Ji Xiangyu went to the trunk and found a black baseball cap of the same style as her own for Shen Yishu.
Ten minutes later, fully armed, the two stood in the elevator.
The elevator in this hospital had three mirrors. As soon as Shen Yishu entered, she saw herself and Ji Xiangyu.
Only 2cm difference in height, wearing black masks, black sunglasses, matching black and white baseball caps. With one’s hair tied up and the other’s elegantly pulled back, they exuded an imposing aura, like a black and white duo of death.
They actually looked quite good together.
Because they had an appointment, the private doctor had cleared the area. The corridor was empty, with only a few nurses writing something with their heads down.
Ji Xiangyu had been here several times and, familiar with the way, led Shen Yishu towards the office.
Shen Yishu followed behind her, looking left and right.
“Knock, knock.”
She raised her hand and knocked twice on the door.
“Come in.”
Through the thick wooden door, a female voice replied.
“You’re here?”
Shen Yishu followed Ji Xiangyu in, closed the door, and peeked out from behind Ji Xiangyu: “Hello.”
What Shen Yishu hadn’t expected was that this doctor was remarkably young, completely different from the stern professors in campus hospitals she remembered from her previous life. Not only was she young, but also incredibly gentle, her smile making one feel as if bathed in a spring breeze.
“Hello, my name is Zhao,” she looked up at Ji Xiangyu and said, “Is this the ‘little one’ you mentioned?”
Ji Xiangyu hummed in response.
Shen Yishu was very curious.
Firstly, she didn’t think of herself as a “little one” anymore; secondly, she really wanted to know why Ji Xiangyu would tell Dr. Zhao that she was a “little one”; lastly, she wanted to know what Ji Xiangyu had said to make Dr. Zhao’s expression so teasing when she saw her.
“Catch up first or do the analysis first?” Dr. Zhao asked.
“Do the analysis, I have something else later,” Ji Xiangyu hadn’t forgotten the main event of the evening.
Dr. Zhao got up to retrieve the pheromone collector. It was a device that collected gas. The collected gas would be put into an analyzer to get the pheromone compatibility results.
Her arm was tired from holding it up, but the device still didn’t show that collection was complete.
“…Are you shy because there’s an outsider present?”
Dr. Zhao stared at the numbers on the display, asking rather speechlessly.
After waiting for ten minutes, the pheromones collected by the gas collector were minuscule, almost zero.
Shen Yishu simply stared up at the ceiling.
She also didn’t understand. Clearly, when they slept together the night before, the pheromones were overflowing uncontrollably, yet now they were as dead as wet firewood.
Out of the corner of her eye, she glanced at Ji Xiangyu.
Ji Xiangyu’s expression remained as cold as ever, only the tips of her ears were pink, clear and rosy, the color of a peach.
“The single room on the left. Collect it yourselves,” Dr. Zhao, seeing their different expressions, knew she was as bright as the sun, a glaring third wheel. With her and the two of them in the same room, this analysis definitely wouldn’t get done today.
“Thank you,” Ji Xiangyu moved as she spoke, took the device Dr. Zhao handed her, and walked straight into the small room.
“Thank you, Dr. Zhao!” Shen Yishu, seeing Ji Xiangyu leave, quickly followed, not forgetting to express her gratitude.
Dr. Zhao chuckled.
One of them was as cold as an iceberg, the other a vibrant little sun. They truly could be a match.
