Transmigrated into the Film Empress Sister's Sugar Baby Alpha (GL) - Chapter 20
Shen Yishu couldn’t eat any of the dishes on the table. As long as she sat in that room, the vulgar tones of the Shen father and son echoed in her mind. Their words showed they didn’t see Lin Luosheng as a person, but as a tool to execute a plan.
Even though Shen Yishu and Lin Luosheng were only nodding acquaintances, hearing those words still sent shivers down her spine.
Ji Xiangyu took Shen Yishu to the private room she had booked, planning to let Shen Yishu sober up before returning to the hotel.
“I need to go back and shower,” Shen Yishu said earnestly, “I smell awful.”
Shen Yishu wasn’t drunk, but under the influence of alcohol, her brain nerves were a beat slower than usual, and her thoughts slipped out without filtering.
“Smell of alcohol?” Ji Xiangyu poured a glass of water for her and handed it to Shen Yishu.
“No, it’s a bit of a disgusting smell,” Shen Yishu frowned.
She felt as if spending half an hour in the same room as the Shen father and son had made her smell of their foul odor. She lifted her arm and sniffed carefully.
Shen Yishu put her arm down with a grimace, then leaned closer to Ji Xiangyu, raising her right arm, and asked, “Sister, can you smell it?”
Shen Yishu’s face was flushed, and she looked at her with a wronged expression, clearly writing “disgusted” all over her face.
Shen Yishu’s clothes had been washed by Zhu Li in the hotel’s washing machine, giving off a faint industrial scent. The not-so-strong smell of alcohol clung to the white clothing, as faint as if she’d only had a small drink.
Ji Xiangyu shook her head.
She couldn’t quite tell if Shen Yishu was drunk, only that Shen Yishu was much bolder than usual.
Shen Yishu truly wasn’t clear-headed enough.
She saw Ji Xiangyu shake her head, thinking Ji Xiangyu was too far away to smell clearly, so she leaned closer, her cheek almost touching Ji Xiangyu’s lips.
“Sister, smell again?”
Ji Xiangyu looked down at the slightly dazed little Alpha in front of her, realizing she might be a little drunk. Normally, she would try to maintain a hundred thousand miles of distance from her, acting politely in front of others but drawing a firm line privately.
At her most proactive, she’d spout a few wild claims, but her actions always adhered to a “pure and innocent persona.”
Ji Xiangyu pursed her lips and whispered, “There’s no smell.”
She didn’t even dare to move. The young face was inches from hers; if she leaned forward even a centimeter, she could touch it.
Shen Yishu relaxed. As long as Ji Xiangyu didn’t think it smelled bad, then it definitely didn’t.
She leaned back in her chair and drank two glasses of water.
Several minutes passed, and her mind cleared considerably, gradually returning to a normal state of thought.
“Tonight’s recording should prove that I didn’t plan that night’s events, and I was unaware,” Shen Yishu breathed a long sigh of relief. Thankfully, the original owner was rather foolish, and others never told her their plans, which allowed her to escape this predicament.
“I’ll pass it on to Zheng Shu and Lin Luosheng,” Ji Xiangyu also relaxed.
Even with 100% compatibility, she couldn’t choose a bad seed to keep by her side.
Shen Yishu showed a relaxed smile.
The biggest crisis since transmigrating had been resolved. All of this was thanks to Ji Xiangyu, who had been willing to trust her and give her time to find evidence.
“Doesn’t Lin Luosheng know what happened that night?” Shen Yishu suddenly remembered. Lin Luosheng didn’t seem to have troubled her over that incident; she only made snide remarks because she disliked seeing her near Ji Xiangyu.
“No, neither Zheng Shu nor I told her,” Ji Xiangyu glanced at her.
As they looked at each other, Shen Yishu suddenly remembered all the outrageous things she had said earlier while pretending to be a scoundrel.
“Sister, about that…” Shen Yishu couldn’t even lift her head.
She hadn’t wanted Ji Xiangyu to hear those things in the first place.
Who was Ji Xiangyu? Everyone in the industry revered her. Even after several years without acting in art-house films, offers still poured in. The “white moonlight” in everyone’s hearts, a top-tier goddess, had just listened to her and the Shen father and son spout nonsense for half an hour in this small private room.
She herself found it disgusting, let alone Ji Xiangyu.
“There was a reason for it. I’ll keep your secret,” Ji Xiangyu herself didn’t find those words too offensive.
Born into a prominent family and entering the entertainment industry early, she had heard far more vulgar things. Besides, this was just Shen Yishu deliberately trying to extract information.
“I’m sorry,” Shen Yishu sincerely admitted her mistake.
“It’s fine. If it really comes down to it, you can use your pheromones to tempt me,” Ji Xiangyu picked up the water glass beside her, took a small sip, and hid the smile at the corner of her mouth.
Shen Yishu: …
How could I dare!
However, after Ji Xiangyu’s joke, Shen Yishu wasn’t as nervous anymore.
In Shen Yishu’s mind, Ji Xiangyu was now like a goddess descended to earth, solving her problems, keeping her secrets, and even asking for nothing in return. Shen Yishu couldn’t imagine anyone else in the world with such a kind heart.
Just as she was about to speak, Ji Xiangyu’s phone suddenly rang.
Ji Xiangyu silently looked at the name flashing on the screen. The phone’s default ringtone was piercing, echoing through the small private room, sounding like a death knell.
After half a minute, she slowly answered.
“Dad, is something wrong?” The smile that had been on her lips vanished without a trace. Her thin lips tightened into a straight line, and her expression was distant.
“I just saw your license plate in the parking lot. Are you at Spring Garden?” Spring Garden was the name of the private kitchen.
The smell of alcohol seemed to waft through the phone, making Ji Xiangyu instinctively frown.
“Yes, get straight to the point,” Ji Xiangyu lost her patience.
“I’m in room 302. Come over and say hello. How long has it been since you came home?”
Shen Yishu looked at Ji Xiangyu worriedly.
She had never seen Ji Xiangyu like this: her back was tensed into a curve, her fingertips unconsciously scratching her thigh. The blue jeans had a few white streaks from being scratched, and her fingertips were red from pressing too hard.
Only her expression remained cold and distant, maintaining a composed look, showing only disdain, but not the unnatural movements beneath the table.
“Later. I have something else to do,” Ji Xiangyu lowered her gaze, took a deep breath, but still couldn’t say no.
“What could you possibly have to do? If you’re not filming properly, being in the city, you wouldn’t be accompanying…” The words from the other end of the phone weren’t even finished before Ji Xiangyu hung up.
Shen Yishu had heard most of the intermittent sounds from the phone call.
She understood now why Ji Xiangyu’s expression hadn’t changed after hearing her vulgar remarks. Turns out there was someone at home who spoke even more offensively.
“Sister,” Shen Yishu said, seeing Ji Xiangyu’s lips tightening even more, turning pale, her knuckles clenching tightly on her leg, trembling slightly, trying to control her emotions.
“I’m fine. You wait for me here for a bit,” Ji Xiangyu took a deep breath, forcing a smile at Shen Yishu.
“I’ll go with you,” Shen Yishu truly didn’t feel comfortable letting Ji Xiangyu go alone.
A father who could speak so harshly to his own daughter might do something even worse later. Shen Yishu didn’t want Ji Xiangyu to suffer such humiliation. A person so cold and ethereal shouldn’t endure such insults.
“Very worried?” Ji Xiangyu glanced at Shen Yishu, whose brows were tightly furrowed. The tense string inside her suddenly loosened.
“You don’t want to go.”
“Mhm.”
Shen Yishu understood.
Even someone of Ji Xiangyu’s stature could be manipulated.
“I’ll go with you. I’ll wait for you outside,” Shen Yishu felt that as long as she was close enough, she should be able to protect Ji Xiangyu.
“Mhm,” Ji Xiangyu picked up her phone and led Shen Yishu towards the third floor.
“If there’s any commotion in the private room later, don’t just rush in,” Ji Xiangyu suddenly said as they were about to reach the third floor.
“?” Shen Yishu was confused.
“Be good. Listen to your sister.”
There was only one private room on the third floor. The elevator was in the very center, and the hallway lights were dim for privacy.
As soon as they reached the third floor, loud boisterous sounds accompanied by an overwhelming smell of alcohol emanated from the room. A middle-aged man walked towards the staircase, his phone call loud and piercing, like a broken, low-quality speaker from a small town.
“Hello!”
Shen Yishu looked in the direction of the voice but couldn’t see the person. Someone was forcefully pushed into her arms.
“Block me,” Ji Xiangyu whispered, suppressing her breath, into Shen Yishu’s ear.
Shen Yishu put her arm around Ji Xiangyu’s shoulder and only then realized Ji Xiangyu was trembling slightly.
