Transmigrated into the Scummy Alpha of the Apocalypse Heroine (GL) - Chapter 11
That afternoon nap was deep and restful. When Qin Junlan woke up, she realized she had been hugging Bai Lansheng tightly, treating her like a giant doll.
She gently withdrew her hand from Bai Lansheng’s soft waist, sat up, stretched her body, and loosened her muscles. Then she glanced at Bai Lansheng, who was still pretending to be asleep.
Bai Lansheng’s thick and long eyelashes fluttered slightly, like the wings of a butterfly, revealing that she was only pretending.
Qin Junlan didn’t expose her. She quietly slipped into her shoes and searched for a while before pulling out a sheet of paper and a pen.
Bai Lansheng heard the soft rustling, then a brief pause. Footsteps approached the bedside and then stopped completely.
With her eyes closed, her hearing became more sensitive. She could even feel the gentle breathing close to the edge of the bed.
Not knowing what Qin Junlan was doing, Bai Lansheng finally couldn’t resist and opened her eyes. What she saw was a piece of paper.
The words “IOU” were written in large letters across the top, and Qin Sisi’s name was already signed in the lower right corner.
The handwriting was messy and crooked.
Qin Junlan said, “I told you we were writing an IOU. Come on, get up and sign it. Your name is the last one missing.”
Bai Lansheng paused for a moment. She hadn’t expected Qin Junlan to actually follow through with the IOU idea. She had thought it was just empty talk.
But then again, what did it matter? It wasn’t as if she could repay it anyway. She took the pen and signed her name carelessly without even reading the content.
After she finished, Qin Junlan even pulled out some paint and pressed fingerprints over both their signatures to make it official.
Qin Junlan said, “We made two copies. Keep yours safe.”
Bai Lansheng didn’t move at all.
Seeing this, Qin Junlan raised her eyebrows and said, “Alright, I’ll keep it for you then.”
Though she said she would store it, there wasn’t even a cabinet in the room to put things away properly.
Qin Junlan wrapped up the IOU and stuffed it at the bottom of a pile with various other miscellaneous items.
She returned to the bed and sat down.
There really was no other option. The bed was the only piece of furniture in the room where one could sit.
When she wrote the IOU, she had to use the wall as a surface to write on.
Qin Junlan looked at Bai Lansheng, who was unusually quiet, and noticed her eyes were swollen and her energy was low.
She hadn’t even had any water before sleeping. Why were her eyes so puffy?
And there was a red mark on her chin.
Qin Junlan asked, “What happened to your chin?”
Hearing this, Bai Lansheng suddenly remembered the pain in her chin and glared at the culprit in front of her.
Qin Junlan guessed, “Was it a mosquito bite? That mosquito sure is picky. It didn’t bite me even though I slept outside. Instead, it bit you. Is it because your skin is more delicate?”
There was a reason she said that.
Qin Junlan had always been fair-skinned and was known at work as the beautiful pale one. But next to Bai Lansheng, she didn’t even compare.
Qin Junlan looked over Bai Lansheng carefully, from her forehead, to her jaw, down her neck, and to her toes. She had seen how several of the bruises had formed. Now those spots had turned into deep red marks.
Bai Lansheng had porcelain-like skin. Even the faintest mark stood out clearly. That made the bruises look even more alarming.
The moment she heard the word “mosquito,” Bai Lansheng’s shoulders tensed. She was afraid Qin Junlan would remember something from before.
To Bai Lansheng, Qin Junlan’s gaze was far too bold. It made her uncomfortable all over.
She frowned deeply and thought, What are you staring at?
Qin Junlan changed the topic. “There’s not much to eat. Just some bread.”
Bai Lansheng looked at the dry piece of bread. The packaging was simple, and it looked greasy and unappetizing. She had no desire to eat it.
She stayed silent and refused to touch it.
Seeing her frowning, Qin Junlan shook her head.
“You can’t go on like this. Pull yourself together.”
Qin Junlan dragged her off the bed, helped her put on shoes, then grabbed a wooden bucket and a towel from under the bed. She led her outside.
They walked to the riverside. Qin Junlan put the bucket on the ground and suddenly pulled Bai Lansheng into a run.
Bai Lansheng was half dragged, half carried along for the run. Soon, she was sweating and gasping for breath, filled with resentment.
If hatred could turn into actual damage, Qin Junlan would already be stabbed in the back with countless imaginary knives.
Back at school, Bai Lansheng never ran more than six hundred meters. But this thug had her run back and forth along the riverside three times.
The total distance was more than one thousand five hundred meters.
The system watched as Bai Lansheng’s anger levels kept rising. Her darkening value shot up quickly, making the system tremble with fear.
This wasn’t reducing her negative emotions. This was pushing her toward world destruction.
System: “Warning, Host. The heroine’s resentment toward you has increased again.”
Qin Junlan replied, “It was already full. Let it rise even more. If I let her sit around doing nothing, she’ll keep overthinking. Exercise releases dopamine. That makes people happy. I don’t know exactly what she’s been through, but who hasn’t faced hard times? Even the emperor can’t have everything his way. If she chooses to stay stuck, then she’s the one trapping herself.”
Qin Junlan said that to the system, but also to herself.
She had already made up her mind. If she could secure multimillion-dollar deals, she could figure out how to reach Bai Lansheng too.
After Bai Lansheng couldn’t run anymore, Qin Junlan continued running by herself for another fifteen minutes. She felt great afterward. Much of the pressure inside her had been released.
Qin Junlan returned to the river, filled the bucket with water, washed her face, and soaked the towel again. As she roughly wiped Bai Lansheng’s face, she said, “We’ll do this again tomorrow.”
Bai Lansheng looked miserable as her cheeks were rubbed raw by the coarse towel. She seemed to have lost the will to live.
Hearing Qin Junlan’s words, she almost couldn’t stop herself from pushing her into the river.
But she held back. What if that thug could swim?
System: “Host, didn’t you hear her grinding her teeth?”
Qin Junlan glanced down at Bai Lansheng and responded firmly in her mind, “No, I didn’t.”
After running over one thousand five hundred meters, Bai Lansheng was completely worn out. But Qin Junlan still didn’t let her sit down. She insisted they continue walking slowly to ease muscle soreness.
Whenever Bai Lansheng slowed down, Qin Junlan gently pushed her shoulder to keep her moving.
And so, the two of them walked at a slow pace along the path.
The walk to the river hadn’t seemed long, but on the way back, it felt endless to Bai Lansheng.
She could feel the steady pressure from behind. On a normal day, she would have avoided being touched. But now, her legs, arms, and shoulders all ached terribly.
Without that push from Qin Junlan, she didn’t think she could make it back.
Qin Junlan had no idea that Bai Lansheng had silently added another mark to her mental list of grievances.
This run wasn’t just about strengthening Bai Lansheng’s will. It was also for Qin Junlan herself.
Her body’s foundation was still weak. The last time Ke Nian suppressed her with spiritual force, she had barely fought back.
If she encountered someone even stronger in the future, she would be in serious danger.
Right now, she needed to make her body more adaptable and increase its endurance. If she ever had to fight someone head-on, she didn’t want to be unprepared and regret it later.
Qin Junlan said, “We’ll keep doing this tomorrow.”
“What?” Bai Lansheng thought she had heard wrong.
“Not just tomorrow,” Qin Junlan replied. “The day after, and the day after that. Every single day, as long as it’s not windy or rainy. Eventually, it will become your habit.”
“I don’t want that habit!” Bai Lansheng raised her voice in frustration.
Realizing she had spoken too loudly, she lowered her voice and said pitifully, “It’s too tiring. I really can’t run anymore.”
Qin Junlan laughed quietly and said, “But you still have me. If you can’t run, I’ll pull you along.”
Seeing Bai Lansheng suffer a small setback, Qin Junlan could not help but feel delighted.
System: “Host…”
Qin Junlan: “Hmm?”
System: “Would you like to check the corruption level?”
Qin Junlan checked Bai Lansheng’s corruption value and found that the original score of over 100 had vanished. In its place was a single symbol.
A large question mark.
Qin Junlan: “What does that mean?”
System: “It probably means disaster is coming.”
The system felt it had placed its hopes in Qin Junlan far too early. What it really needed to do was find another candidate quickly, before more time was wasted.
Qin Junlan was a little surprised. So, the value could still change? Over 100 wasn’t the maximum?
She stared at the back of Bai Lansheng’s head for a while, then suddenly stopped walking.
What surprised her even more was that although Bai Lansheng should have been too tired to keep going, she continued walking forward at the same pace, even without Qin Junlan’s help.
Qin Junlan stepped ahead and moved to block her path.
She looked at Bai Lansheng with interest.
Bai Lansheng paused briefly, then tried to walk around her.
Qin Junlan blocked her again.
Bai Lansheng tried to go around once more.
Qin Junlan blocked her again.
After the third time, Bai Lansheng finally lifted her head.
Qin Junlan smiled slightly, her gaze fixed intently on Bai Lansheng.
In that moment, she seemed to catch a faint glimpse of the real corrupted version of Bai Lansheng.
There was a trace of provocation in Qin Junlan’s gaze. She wanted to see whether Bai Lansheng would take the bait.
Just then, a voice called out in the distance.
“Boss, there you are. I was looking for you.”
Qin Junlan frowned slightly and turned her head.
Green Hair came over and noticed someone standing in front of Qin Junlan. He looked surprised.
“Oh, sis-in-law is here too? What are you two doing?”
Qin Junlan replied casually, “Just enjoying the scenery.”
“Oh…” Green Hair scratched his head. The atmosphere just now didn’t really feel like sightseeing.
He reached into the bag he was holding and pulled out a large pack of bread.
“Boss, sis-in-law, have you had breakfast yet? I brought some bread.”
The bread looked plump and soft, much more appetizing than the dry ones from earlier.
The three of them walked to the riverside. Qin Junlan, not caring about appearances, found a grassy spot and sat down. Green Hair sat beside her, while Bai Lansheng chose a stone a little farther away.
Green Hair kept sneaking glances in her direction and finally whispered, “Boss, did you upset sis-in-law?”
Seeing her whisper like that, Qin Junlan leaned over and lowered her voice to match, although she made no effort to actually speak quietly.
“Well, your sis-in-law has a bit of a temper. She gets angry easily. But since I’m an Alpha, I just have to be patient and tolerant.”
Green Hair nodded, taking it to heart.
“Boss, when you have time, can you teach me a few tricks? I want to bring back an Omega of my own someday.”
“No problem. Just find someone as beautiful as your sis-in-law.”
Sis-in-law. Sis-in-law. Sis-in-law.
That word coming from the mouth of that shameless scoundrel was incredibly irritating.
Bai Lansheng tore up the grass beneath her in frustration. The scattered pieces near her feet showed she had already pulled out quite a few.
As the two continued chatting and laughing, clearly enjoying themselves and even cracking inappropriate jokes, Bai Lansheng suddenly said, “Stop calling me sis-in-law.”
Green Hair was startled by her sudden outburst.
“Uh… okay, sis-in-law.”
Bai Lansheng was speechless.
Qin Junlan burst out laughing.
“Don’t make it hard for her. She doesn’t even know your name. Why don’t you introduce yourself?”
Bai Lansheng was already full of anger. Introduce herself to one of Qin Sisi’s ridiculous friends? That was not going to happen.
Seeing her furious expression, Qin Junlan handed her a piece of bread.
“You burned a lot of energy running earlier. You must be hungry. Want some?”
It was a peace offering.
Bai Lansheng turned her head away, rejecting it with pride. She was not about to accept food handed out like charity.
Green Hair looked at Qin Junlan. “Boss…”
Qin Junlan waved him off. “It’s fine. She’ll feel hungry soon enough.”
Qin Junlan set aside one steamed bun, then tore the rest into small pieces and tossed them into the river.
Fish swam over quickly, darting around and fighting for the floating bread crumbs.
Green Hair stared at the rippling water, suddenly lost in thought.
“Boss, do you think we’re like the fish in this river? Forever trapped in the same pool of water.” Her tone was heavy, as if weighed down by fate. Their origins had already determined their paths.
Qin Junlan replied, “That question needs to be looked at from both sides.”
Green Hair asked, “What do you mean?”
Qin Junlan explained, “If you think of yourself as a fish, then you’re confined to this body of water. But if you see yourself as a bird in the sky, then those fish in the river become nothing more than crumbs floating on the surface.”
Green Hair thought about it and said slowly, “You mean we shouldn’t see ourselves as fish in the first place? If we want to escape the fate of being fish, we have to jump out of the pond. We need to take a higher perspective, become hunters of a higher level. That way, whether it’s the fish or the bread, it all belongs to us?”
Bai Lansheng had also begun listening closely.
She turned her body slightly away, wearing an expression that clearly said, “Whatever they’re talking about sounds boring. I’m not interested, don’t think I’m curious.” But her blue eyes had already glanced in their direction.
Qin Junlan said, “Actually, what I was really thinking is, these fish look pretty dumb. Do you think we can catch a few?”
Bai Lansheng was speechless.
Green Hair scratched her head again, not sure whether she understood or not.
Suddenly, she slapped her thigh and exclaimed, “Oh no, I almost forgot. Boss, I actually came to find you for something. I told you yesterday, remember? Our group has an event. I’m here to remind you. It’s happening tonight!”
