Transmigrated into the Scummy Alpha of the Apocalypse Heroine (GL) - Chapter 5
As if someone had opened a jar of honey, the sweet scent of pheromones instantly filled the room. Perhaps because it had been suppressed for too long, the fragrance was now even more intense and overwhelming.
Bai Lansheng’s pheromones, completely out of her control, spread throughout the small space and eagerly surged toward the only Alpha nearby.
Realizing what was happening, Bai Lansheng’s toes curled against the tiled floor in embarrassment. She wished she could dig a hole in the ground and hide herself inside.
Her beautiful face turned bright red, and even the corners of her eyes were flushed with color.
She knew that in her current state, she should stay far away from the Alpha. Especially since they barely knew each other and had only met once before.
But despite knowing that, she couldn’t help but want to rely on her. She told herself it was just the emotional vulnerability that came with an Omega’s susceptibility period. Wanting to seek comfort was understandable, wasn’t it?
She spread her arms slightly and looked up at the Alpha with timid eyes, clearly hoping for something.
What exactly was she hoping for?
Bai Lansheng chose not to think too deeply about it.
If it had been any other Alpha standing here, faced with such a sweet and helpless Omega offering herself, they would have already pulled her into their arms and held her tenderly.
But the Alpha in front of her was Qin Junlan, who seriously lacked common sense.
Qin Junlan picked up on the milky scent in the air and noticed that it was beginning to affect her body.
She had never been particularly fond of dairy. At meals with friends, she might order a slice of cream cake just for the photo, but she usually let others eat it afterward.
But now, smelling this sweet scent reminded her of that same cream cake.
She felt hungry, the kind of hunger that struck suddenly and urgently.
Qin Junlan felt distracted.
After a short pause, with Bai Lansheng looking up at her hopefully, Qin Junlan reached out her right hand.
And lifted Bai Lansheng off the ground.
There was no hug.
Bai Lansheng pouted, a little disappointed, but also found the Alpha’s reaction rather unique.
“If you need to use the bathroom, just say so,” Qin Junlan said calmly. “I’m not cruel enough to stop you from handling a basic need.”
“Huh?” Bai Lansheng blinked.
“Your legs are pressed together, your face is flushed. Are you really trying to hold it in until your bladder bursts?”
“I wasn’t trying to…” Bai Lansheng stammered.
“And your scent is way too strong. Can you please try to suppress it?”
Bai Lansheng’s legs instantly lost strength. If Qin Junlan hadn’t been holding her, she would have collapsed right there.
The moment she heard that, a wave of frustration hit her. Was the Alpha complaining about how she smelled?
If this Alpha hadn’t shown up unexpectedly, she would have already taken her suppressant.
She was an Omega. When had she ever been treated like this?
Feeling hurt and embarrassed, Bai Lansheng suddenly wanted to act out. Qin Junlan wanted her to stand? Then she wouldn’t.
She pulled away from Qin Junlan’s hold and let herself fall.
Qin Junlan didn’t realize what Bai Lansheng was thinking. Seeing her fall just after she had helped her up, she assumed Bai Lansheng had no strength left.
Without letting go, Qin Junlan quickly reached around and supported her waist, trying to help her stand properly.
But Bai Lansheng’s body was so soft and limp that it was difficult to support her. She continued to slide downward.
Qin Junlan shifted her hold, placed her hands under Bai Lansheng’s backside, and lifted her slightly to help her regain balance.
The sudden movement made Bai Lansheng crash into Qin Junlan’s chest. She clutched at her collar, her nose stinging from the impact, and froze in shock.
Her waist and somewhere else had just been touched by someone else. It was too much.
Her teeth clenched in anger. She wanted to shout at this Alpha for daring to touch her like that. But once she realized exactly what part of her had made contact, she couldn’t bring herself to say a word.
From Qin Junlan’s slightly open collar, she caught a faint scent of pheromones.
It was the Alpha’s.
Although the scent was subtle, it meant the Alpha did feel something.
But it was so faint.
Bai Lansheng’s frustration faded. A sense of sympathy even started to rise within her.
Qin Junlan, seeing that Bai Lansheng was standing on her own, tried to let go. But instead, she found herself tightly hugged. Bai Lansheng nestled her face into Qin Junlan’s shoulder and snuggled close.
The Alpha’s skin was still damp from her shower. It felt cool and comforting. Bai Lansheng relaxed into the embrace, wrapping her arms around Qin Junlan’s waist. She even reached behind to touch the damp strands of her long hair and smiled with contentment.
She had guessed correctly. Based on the earlier sounds, she had figured Qin Junlan was washing her hair.
Qin Junlan wasn’t too pleased about having a warm body suddenly clinging to her. She had just finished bathing, and Bai Lansheng had been sitting on the bathroom floor. Then she heard a muffled voice come from the girl in her arms.
“You touched me. I get to touch you back.”
“What did I touch?” Qin Junlan asked.
Bai Lansheng didn’t dare explore further or explain. She didn’t answer the question. Instead, she tightened her grip and buried her nose into the Alpha’s scent.
Qin Junlan looked down and saw a small swirl of silver hair at the top of Bai Lansheng’s head. Her instincts screamed at her that something was wrong.
Maybe it was the stuffy air, but her body was starting to heat up.
The scent was growing stronger. It was clearly coming from Bai Lansheng. Being this close didn’t feel safe anymore.
Trusting her instincts, Qin Junlan placed her hands on Bai Lansheng’s shoulders and tried to push her away.
But nothing happened. It was like the world had frozen mid-motion, like a video suddenly buffering during an intense moment.
She felt dazed.
When her mind finally caught up, she realized she was holding Bai Lansheng tightly and had her head bent down, her teeth already sunken into the girl’s scent gland.
A fist slammed into the bathroom wall. She used the pain to force herself back to her senses.
Her body still burned with heat, but her heart was cold with dread. If she hadn’t tasted bl00d and noticed something was wrong, she might have completely lost control.
Her gums tingled. She touched her canine teeth. They had extended. The sharp tips still rested in the grooves of her bite.
Bai Lansheng’s fair, delicate neck now had two small puncture wounds. That was her doing.
Qin Junlan didn’t dare look again. Every glance at that tender skin made her salivate uncontrollably.
She swallowed several times to resist the urge to lick again. Then she patted Bai Lansheng’s cheek, trying to wake her.
“Wake up. Don’t fall asleep yet.”
Bai Lansheng felt the tapping on her face and grew upset.
“Why are you hitting me, you mean Alpha?”
After complaining, she cuddled closer into Qin Junlan’s arms, messed up her bathrobe, then rested her head on Qin Junlan’s chest again and closed her eyes. She clearly wasn’t fully conscious.
Seeing that shaking her didn’t help, Qin Junlan picked her up, clothes and all, and placed her into the bathtub.
The water hadn’t been drained yet. As soon as Bai Lansheng landed inside, she slid down toward the bottom. Qin Junlan reacted quickly and pulled her back up before she could sink.
The cold water made Bai Lansheng cough violently and snap awake.
“Cough… cough… What are you doing?”
Qin Junlan sniffed the air and noticed that Bai Lansheng’s scent had faded. It worked.
“Is there a way to neutralize your scent more effectively?”
“I almost drowned…” Bai Lansheng muttered bitterly.
“Answer me.”
“There’s a suppressant in my bag. Go get it,” she said.
Once Qin Junlan left the room, Bai Lansheng looked at the closed door and thought to herself, And she calls herself a thug? Didn’t even take advantage of me.
Her eyes drifted toward the bathwater, then to the used bottle of body wash. Her flushed face heated up again.
All of this had been used by that Alpha.
Qin Junlan found the suppressant in Bai Lansheng’s luggage and glanced at the label.
Peach flavored?
When Qin Junlan handed over the suppressant, Bai Lansheng opened the bathroom door just a crack, quickly snatched the item, and shut the door again without hesitation.
From the smoothness of her movement, it was clear she had regained consciousness.
Qin Junlan said, “Call me if you need anything,” then returned to sit on the bed.
After all that commotion, most of her drowsiness had faded. While Bai Lansheng was still inside, she took the opportunity to look through the belongings the girl had brought with her. Aside from clothing and daily necessities, the most valuable item was the communicator.
The device was still turned on and had a lot of functions. Qin Junlan used it to look up some information.
She found that suppressants came in many flavors, mostly fruity, but there were also some odd ones like chili pepper.
Then she searched for information on susceptibility periods.
After reading through it, her expression darkened.
Omega pheromones had a natural pull on Alphas. When an Alpha bit into the scent gland, it marked the Omega as their prey.
Her canines had formed grooves, which was a clear sign that she was about to mark someone.
She had no doubt that if she ended up marking Bai Lansheng, the likelihood of her mission failing would skyrocket.
Her current mission was only to remain in the same room with Bai Lansheng for seven hours. The task didn’t go into further detail.
When she first entered the room, Bai Lansheng had already shown early signs of entering her susceptibility period. Qin Junlan had asked if there was a noticeable scent in the air, but the system gave no response.
The system had deliberately withheld important information, pushing the plot forward without warning.
Qin Junlan narrowed her eyes.
“I know you’re still watching. Don’t pretend you’re not here. If I end up marking Bai Lansheng, what happens?”
The system responded, “According to the original storyline, the host willingly slept with her. However, based on your personality, this system assumes you won’t follow the original plot. So far, your performance has been impressive.”
Qin Junlan scoffed. So this was supposed to be for her own good?
“Instead of empty praise, why don’t you give me something useful? For example, tell me why Bai Lansheng ends up turning dark.”
“When the storyline reaches that point, you will receive a prompt. For now, your only objective is to stay in the room for seven hours.”
Qin Junlan frowned, stopped talking to the system, and returned to playing with the communicator.
She opened the contact list. Bai Lansheng had labeled most of her contacts by their real names. For instance, Ke Nian was just labeled as “Ke Nian.” But two names stood out from the rest.
Daddy.
Mommy.
Only her parents were labeled with affectionate nicknames.
Qin Junlan studied the screen for a while, memorized their contact information, and added two new numbers into the device. These were numbers she had picked up during her earlier conversation on the eighth floor.
Judging by the small number of contacts, Bai Lansheng’s social circle seemed limited. Qin Junlan tried looking through her photo gallery to get a sense of her relationships, but quickly gave up.
Nearly every picture was of scenery.
Qin Junlan knew she was invading someone’s privacy, but the situation was special. The system was unreliable. If another crisis happened, she didn’t know whether she could resolve it in time.
So she needed to learn more about this world and about Bai Lansheng as quickly as possible.
Glancing at the bathroom door, Qin Junlan said, “You can come out now. How long are you planning to hide in there?”
Half a minute passed before the door finally opened. Bai Lansheng had clearly mustered her courage. The way she opened the door was forceful, but the moment she saw Qin Junlan, her confidence vanished.
Before opening the door, she had paced back and forth for a long time. She remembered all the embarrassing things she had done while in a daze and wasn’t sure how to face the Alpha outside.
But when she stepped out, she saw that Qin Junlan wasn’t even looking at her.
The Alpha was sitting at the edge of the bed, legs crossed, leaning against the headboard. She was dressed in a white bathrobe, head lowered as she focused on something in her hands.
The light illuminated her features, softening her expression and making her look calm and at ease.
Bai Lansheng noticed the bathrobe Qin Junlan was wearing was the same as hers.
She froze for a moment. When Qin Junlan didn’t react, she slowly stepped closer and noticed that the Alpha was holding her communicator.
What was she doing?
Bai Lansheng leaned over slightly to peek and realized Qin Junlan was scrolling through her photo album.
Qin Junlan had opened one of her selfies. In it, Bai Lansheng was pouting at the camera and flashing a silly peace sign.
“Ahhh, don’t look at that!” Bai Lansheng shrieked. The following photos were even more ridiculous, all of her making goofy faces at the lens. How could anyone be allowed to see those?
Qin Junlan wasn’t planning to return the communicator just yet. If Bai Lansheng tried to send a message out, that could cause serious trouble. So she held the girl down as she lunged forward, casually reaching over to place the device on the cabinet beside her, keeping it out of reach.
“Adorable things deserve a few more glances,” she said.
Bai Lansheng fell on top of her and was instantly reminded of the hug they had shared in the bathroom. She no longer tried to take the communicator back. Instead, she looked up at Qin Junlan.
“You think I’m adorable?” she asked softly.
Qin Junlan let out a thoughtful sound. “Do you care about my opinion?”
There was a hint of nervousness in Bai Lansheng’s expression.
