Transmigrated into the Scummy Alpha of the Apocalypse Heroine (GL) - Chapter 6
Bai Lansheng said, “I was not! I was just testing your vocabulary so that if you ever meet an Omega you like, you’ll know how to compliment them properly.”
Qin Junlan glanced at her. She was starting to talk back now.
“You’re the cutest. I’m hungry. Do you have anything to eat?”
Bai Lansheng pouted. That felt very dismissive.
When she saw Qin Junlan set her communicator aside without touching it again, she finally relaxed. After a moment of thought, she asked, “Should I order something from the front desk?”
Qin Junlan laughed. “You booked the room. You’re the host here. Why are you asking me?”
Bai Lansheng let out a soft sound as if realizing something. “Oh right. I’m the host. That means I have the right to kick you out too.”
Qin Junlan replied, “Then I would have nowhere to go. I’d be out on the streets. Would you really kick me out?”
“I…” Bai Lansheng looked away from her. The suppressant should have started working by now, but her face still felt warm.
She had taken the suppressant and was soaking in the bathtub while waiting for it to take effect. That was when she realized something was wrong with her today.
If she truly disliked an Alpha, it would be normal to feel afraid. But even when she was dazed, she had still acted clingy toward her.
She might actually like this Alpha.
But how could she admit that?
And if she did admit it, would the other person think she was being too easy or even shallow?
After holding it in for a long time, Bai Lansheng finally blurted, “I hate you.”
As soon as she said it, she regretted it. She could have said it in a nicer way.
Just as she was feeling embarrassed, she heard a loud growl from a stomach.
Qin Junlan rubbed her stomach and said, “I’m really hungry. Find me something to eat or I’ll eat you instead.”
She gave Bai Lansheng a teasing look, licked her lips, and grinned playfully.
This Alpha was so improper. Bai Lansheng felt shy under her gaze, but she also let out a small sigh of relief. Maybe that “I hate you” moment had passed already.
Bai Lansheng suggested ordering room service, but Qin Junlan refused. In the end, they had to make do with the basic food that was already in the room.
There were two servings of instant noodles. Qin Junlan opened both, cooked them with ease, and even poured a bottle of energy drink that was supposed to help with recovery.
Her body was still weak, so she needed to eat well and stay nourished.
After eating, she noticed there was some fruit on the table and picked it up to peel it.
During this time, Bai Lansheng sat quietly beside her, watching without saying anything. When she saw Bai looking at her hands, Qin Junlan assumed she was hungry and handed her a small piece of fruit.
Bai Lansheng wasn’t hungry. The cheap smell of the noodles had killed her appetite. But when Qin Junlan offered her the fruit, she accepted it and started eating in small, graceful bites. It was clear she had been raised with good manners.
Qin Junlan finished eating and let out a satisfied sigh. Sleepiness began to settle in.
She looked at Bai Lansheng and noticed her forehead was slightly swollen.
“Where is the first aid kit?” Qin Junlan asked lazily.
Bai Lansheng touched her ear and dug out the kit.
After pulling it out, she suddenly remembered that she did not have to do whatever Qin Junlan said.
Qin Junlan took out the disinfectant and was about to clean Bai Lansheng’s forehead.
But Bai Lansheng pressed her lips together and suddenly took the lead. She grabbed Qin Junlan’s hand and started disinfecting it instead. She even wrapped it in a bandage, though she was clearly inexperienced. It was wrapped a bit clumsily.
Qin Junlan raised her hand to take a look. Her hand now looked round and bulky like a bowling pin.
“Come closer. I’ll help you with the disinfectant,” Qin Junlan said.
I can do it myself. That’s what Bai Lansheng wanted to say, but she still leaned in. As the cool antiseptic touched her forehead and the Alpha’s face came close, she could smell the familiar scent of their shared bath gel. Her heart began to beat faster.
She asked softly, “Is the reason you didn’t want me to order food because you didn’t want anyone else coming in?” Why did you come looking for me and not someone else?
Qin Junlan gave her a lazy glance. After making sure the medicine was applied, she yawned and covered her mouth with her warm hand. “I just wanted to be alone with you.”
Her answer sounded casual. Bai Lansheng knew she might not have meant much by it, but still…
She looked at Qin Junlan, who was starting to look sleepy. Then she took off her shoes and climbed into the bed.
This caught Qin Junlan off guard.
“You’re sleeping with me?”
“Aren’t you here to flirt with me? And now you’re scared to sleep next to me?” Bai Lansheng even patted the empty space beside her.
Qin Junlan stayed silent.
Bai Lansheng’s scent had faded. There should be no risk for now. If she was willing to lie down calmly, then even if something happened, it would be easier to handle.
Sharing a bed was reasonable in this situation. It might even help complete the mission more efficiently.
With that thought, Qin Junlan lay down as well. She was truly exhausted and wanted a good night’s sleep.
As she lifted the blanket, Bai Lansheng held onto the edge tightly with both hands. When Qin Junlan closed her eyes, she heard Bai Lansheng ask her a quiet question.
“What’s your name?”
“Qin…” Qin Junlan almost said her real name in a half-asleep daze but changed it at the last second. “Qin Sisi.”
“My dad runs a business. He knows a lot of people. I’ll ask him to help you find a good doctor.”
Qin Junlan was so tired that she assumed Bai Lansheng was just talking about connections. She mumbled a quiet reply.
That small sound made Bai Lansheng feel even more sympathy.
Qin Sisi’s Alpha scent was so faint. She hadn’t tried to mark her during her heat either. She really was a gentle person.
Tomorrow she would talk to her again. Maybe even help her find a good job. Ideally at her dad’s company, so they could still see each other often. She wondered what kind of work Qin Sisi wanted to do.
Maybe she would ask her dad if he needed a new assistant. A role that required a suit and a uniform would be nice…
With these thoughts, Bai Lansheng drifted into sleep.
After she had truly fallen asleep, Qin Junlan, who had seemed asleep too, opened her eyes and looked at her.
Silver hair was spread across the pillow. Her small face looked like it might sink into it.
She thought to herself, this girl really is trusting. She actually fell asleep without knowing who I am. What if I were dangerous? The system was right about how naïve she is.
She was even smiling in her sleep. Who knows what kind of dream she was having?
Qin Junlan poked her cheek gently. After confirming that she was really asleep, she closed her eyes again.
Before drifting off, she checked the mission timer.
Five hours and twenty-three minutes remaining.
Qin Junlan allowed herself to finally rest.
Once she was asleep, the system updated the mission.
[Side Mission Activated: Caught in the Act]
The mission message appeared briefly in text, flickered, then vanished.
Qin Junlan, still asleep, had no idea that the mission had been updated. But in her dream, she saw Ke Nian.
Or rather, it was Qin Sisi who had her eyes on Ke Nian.
It felt like her spirit had merged with Qin Sisi. Through the original host’s perspective, she watched everything unfold.
Unlike Qin Junlan, who would always clean up after waking, Qin Sisi didn’t care about the strong smell of alcohol on her body. When others looked at her with disgust, she would get even closer on purpose, breathe directly into their faces with her foul-smelling breath, and laugh loudly as they turned and ran away.
Qin Junlan frowned. Her vision followed Qin Sisi’s exactly. It felt like she was the one doing all those terrible things.
From that point of view, Qin Junlan saw Qin Sisi following Ke Nian into the banquet hall on the eighth floor. When Ke Nian went into the restroom, Qin Sisi quickly stole his room card.
Then she used it to open the door to room 1212.
Qin Sisi seemed used to this kind of thing. She entered the room with a knife in her hand. But when she saw an Omega sitting alone, she changed her mind.
She grabbed the Omega by the ankles and dragged her to the bed, then from the bed to the bathroom. Red handprints were smeared across the floor. The Omega had tried to call for help, but Qin Sisi found her too noisy and knocked her teeth out.
Qin Junlan’s expression remained blank as she watched everything.
Because she was seeing from Qin Sisi’s point of view, she could not see Bai Lansheng’s face unless Qin Sisi looked directly at her.
But when Qin Sisi dragged her in front of the mirror and prepared to humiliate her, Qin Junlan and Bai Lansheng locked eyes.
That innocent girl was covered in bruises and bl00d. Her face was swollen. She held her mouth shut, too afraid to make a sound.
The girl in the mirror looked completely helpless and lost.
Her tears fell without a word. The moment they hit the floor, it felt like they landed directly on Qin Junlan’s heart, searing it with pain.
She wanted to say, “Don’t cry.”
But she couldn’t speak. She was only a spirit inside someone else’s body, forced to watch the violence happen in front of her.
Seven hours later, the door opened and Ke Nian stepped inside.
Bai Lansheng thought he had come to save her.
But instead, Ke Nian said, “You’re filthy.”
He was furious. He believed Bai Lansheng had betrayed their promise, betrayed her parents’ love, and ended their relationship on the spot.
He turned around and left her with the attacker.
Bai Lansheng had already lost her teeth and could barely speak. She never even had a chance to explain.
“It hurts so much…”
She reached out toward Ke Nian’s back as he walked away. But the only response she got was the sound of the door closing.
Qin Junlan wanted to reach for that hand. In reality, the hand was caught, but not by her.
Qin Sisi grabbed Bai Lansheng’s wrist and tied her hands behind her back with a piece of torn clothing.
The image slowly faded. Qin Junlan could no longer see what happened next. But she didn’t need to. She already knew that with someone like Qin Sisi, what came after would only be worse.
She called out to the system again and again.
Qin Junlan: You showed me this. Is this part of the mission?
System: You can think whatever you want. But when you wake up tomorrow, you will forget everything.
Qin Junlan had never hated the system’s voice so much. It sounded cold, without the slightest emotion.
Qin Junlan: What if I don’t want to forget?
System: You won’t have a choice. The moment you wake up, all of this will disappear from your memory.
Qin Junlan: I’m not so old that I’d forget something I experienced firsthand.
System: You cannot change anything. This is Bai Lansheng’s fate.
Qin Junlan: Then I will change her fate.
System: No one can change what has already been written.
Qin Junlan resisted. She did not want to fall back into sleep. But her consciousness was still being dragged into the darkness.
In that darkness, a strange force began to wash away her memories.
Her stomach turned. She suddenly woke with a jolt.
And then she saw a pair of eyes filled with hatred staring at her.
Bai Lansheng was holding a knife and driving it straight toward Qin Junlan’s chest.
“You monster. I’m going to kill you.”
As the blade came down, Qin Junlan thought to herself, she should have moved the fruit knife farther away before falling asleep.
