Transmigrated into the Scummy Alpha of the Apocalypse Heroine (GL) - Chapter 7
Bai Lansheng thought she had already escaped that disgusting world for good, but she never expected to return to the past.
First, she saw the ceiling. Then, her eyes fell on the familiar furnishings. She had stayed in this room for less than a day, but she could still describe every detail precisely.
This was because the room had appeared countless times in her nightmares. In those dreams, she was surrounded by pain and bl00d. Each nightmare left her sleepless through the night, making it impossible to forget those repeated scenes.
It was in this room that she lost her innocence, and from there, her life had spiraled into an irreversible abyss.
Beside her, there was the sound of light breathing. She did not even need to reach out to feel the warmth. Someone was lying next to her.
Bai Lansheng stiffened. Slowly, she turned her head toward the person beside her. When she saw who it was, her heart sank.
Her fingers trembled uncontrollably. She wanted to scream, but fear gripped her throat tightly. She felt like a swan with its neck caught, unable to make a sound beyond short, broken gasps.
The sound was so faint it was barely noticeable.
Even so, she was terrified that it might wake the person beside her.
That person.
It was that person.
Cold sweat soaked her back. In only a few seconds, hatred and fear overwhelmed her completely, putting her body on high alert.
The other person had not woken up yet.
Bai Lansheng told herself to stay calm. But as soon as she felt the pain around her neck, it became impossible to think clearly.
She would not fall into that monster’s hands again. Her eyes searched the room and landed on a knife on the nearby table.
If she could kill that person before they woke up…
Qin Junlan was not sleeping peacefully. When she opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was a knife coming straight toward her. Bai Lansheng was holding it with both hands, aiming down at her chest.
Even if it was just a fruit knife, it would still hurt.
Since she was lying down, it was hard to dodge. Instinctively, Qin Junlan kicked out. She forgot to hold back her strength. Her foot hit Bai Lansheng square in the stomach and knocked her off the bed.
Bai Lansheng fell to the floor with a loud thud, hitting her head as she landed.
Qin Junlan sat up to look. The knife had flown out of Bai Lansheng’s hand. She was now holding the back of her head, wincing in pain. It seemed like she had taken a hard fall.
Her forehead had been injured earlier, and now the back of her head too. Qin Junlan couldn’t help feeling a little sorry for her. Hopefully, she had not hit her head so hard that she became slow or confused.
But even though she felt a little sympathy, Qin Junlan still picked up the knife to keep it out of reach. She placed it along with the communicator, then reached out a hand to help Bai Lansheng up.
Bai Lansheng was in pain. When she saw Qin Junlan’s outstretched hand, she turned her head away angrily. She did not want her fake concern.
Her sneak attack had failed. Her weapon was gone. She could not fight Qin Junlan head-on, so she curled up in the corner with her shoulders hunched.
Her hand slowly moved from the back of her head to wrap around her own face.
She already knew what would happen once she failed. Qin Junlan would definitely explode in anger and beat her to vent her frustration. Reason never worked against brute force. All she could do was protect her vulnerable spots and hope the pain would be lessened.
But the beating never came.
Qin Junlan looked at her holding her head and said, “You can’t blame me. It was a reflex. Anyone would be startled if they woke up and saw a knife in their face.
But if you really want to stab someone, you should aim for the neck. There’s a major artery there. Bl00d loss would knock a person out in a few minutes. If you go for the heart, you need to practice a lot to control your strength and angle, because the ribcage protects the heart. If you get it wrong, the knife might hit bone or miss the target. If you don’t kill in one strike, I’ll have a chance to fight back. So I suggest you try a different approach next time.”
Qin Junlan spoke calmly and kept her eyes on Bai Lansheng, secretly observing her reaction while also speaking to the system in her mind.
Qin Junlan: Why do I feel like Bai Lansheng is different after waking up? Is this her darkened version?
System: Correct. No reward for getting it right.
Qin Junlan: When did she turn dark? There were no signs at all.
System: While you were asleep. She woke up just a little earlier than you.
Qin Junlan was suspicious. Before falling asleep, she had reminded herself not to enter a deep sleep. She should have sensed any movement around her. But she had no idea when Bai Lansheng got up and grabbed the knife.
Qin Junlan: I feel sick. But not in a way that’s like being nauseous. It’s more like a deep physical disgust. Could this be related to Bai Lansheng’s change?
System: Our analysis says it’s just poor physical condition. You didn’t sleep well.
Qin Junlan: Is that really it?
Still, she could not shake the feeling that something was missing from her memory.
Qin Junlan crouched in front of her, bringing them eye level. Bai Lansheng flinched. The innocence she had shown the day before seemed completely gone.
Qin Junlan reached out her hand again, palm up. “Can you stand? You can use my hand for support.”
Bai Lansheng had no interest in touching the woman she saw as a filthy scoundrel. She kept hugging her head and stayed silent.
One waited for pain, the other waited for a response. Neither of them spoke. The room was completely silent.
Qin Junlan did not pull her hand back, and she still did not raise a hand against her.
Bai Lansheng hesitated. Slowly, she moved one arm away from her head and glanced at Qin Junlan.
She had already braced herself to see an angry face.
But when she looked at that pale hand and followed it upward, she saw a calm expression instead. Qin Junlan’s face was gentle.
Bai Lansheng was confused. Why wasn’t she angry?
Qin Junlan patiently waited. When she finally felt the weight of another hand press into hers, she smiled and helped Bai Lansheng to her feet.
For some reason, holding Bai Lansheng’s hand made Qin Junlan feel happy.
Bai Lansheng saw the smile and felt uneasy. She forced a small smile in return. But after that, her smile froze.
That smile was something she had learned from past abuse. She used it to avoid being beaten. Smiling made the hits come softer.
Even after living again, she was still under someone else’s control.
Bai Lansheng hated this version of herself.
After helping her up, Qin Junlan saw that she was standing stiffly and thought she had no strength. So she picked her up and placed her gently on a chair.
Bai Lansheng’s heart leapt into her throat when she was lifted. She feared being thrown back onto the bed. But instead, Qin Junlan pushed her hair aside, checking the spot where her head had hit the floor.
When Bai Lansheng first woke up and saw the familiar room, she had felt crushed. She had finally escaped from being powerless, only to be dragged back to the very beginning.
The pain in her body made her want to kill the person in front of her. If not that, then at least die together. But now, as she looked at this version of “Qin Sisi” applying medicine to her, she noticed something she had not realized earlier.
It was definitely room 1212. Most of the furniture matched what she remembered.
But there were differences.
There had never been a fruit knife on that table.
And there had never been a first aid kit either.
There was something else that caught her attention, what she was wearing.
Her heat had come without warning. She had been about to inject a suppressant when Qin Sisi suddenly broke in and tore all her clothes apart. But now, she was wearing a bathrobe, and there were no signs of any struggle on the floor.
The biggest difference was Qin Sisi.
She had not cursed at her. She had not hit her. Instead, she was helping apply medicine to her injuries.
Once Bai Lansheng calmed down, she realized that her body definitely hurt, especially her neck, but she had not been marked.
That shameless woman actually left her alone even when she had the chance?
Could this all be a dream?
Bai Lansheng felt like the situation was so absurd that it could not be real.
No matter what it was, the smartest move now was to avoid provoking her. If she could buy time, she might be able to escape. Once she made up her mind, Bai Lansheng cooperated with everything Qin Junlan asked of her. She looked calm and obedient.
She seemed just like the old Bai Lansheng.
But Qin Junlan could tell the difference. If this had been the original Bai Lansheng, she would already be crying and holding her head in her hands.
This Bai Lansheng was more like a cat pretending to be tame, her claws hidden under the surface, waiting for the right moment to strike.
She had already tried to scratch her earlier.
Thinking about this, Qin Junlan pressed the cotton swab soaked in disinfectant more firmly against the injury. Watching Bai Lansheng wince in pain gave her a small sense of relief after nearly being stabbed.
After tossing the cotton swab aside, Qin Junlan packed up the medical kit and checked the mission timer. There were ten minutes left before it ended.
She looked at Bai Lansheng, who sat perfectly still and composed. Knowing that this girl was just putting on an act, she suddenly felt the urge to mess with her a little.
Qin Junlan let out a sigh. “I really don’t understand why you’re reacting like this. You were pretty enthusiastic last night, weren’t you?”
Bai Lansheng looked at her, confused.
Qin Junlan continued. “You hugged me in the bathroom, held onto my waist, and later lay down right beside me. We spent a beautiful night together in the same bed. Now you wake up and pretend none of it happened?”
“What are you talking about?” Bai Lansheng frowned.
Qin Junlan looked at her with an innocent expression, full of fake grievance. “Think about it. Look at our bathrobes. They’re the same style. You were so warm and affectionate last night, and now you’re acting cold. Are all Omegas this heartless?”
Bai Lansheng stared at her like she had lost her mind. The more she spoke, the more ridiculous it sounded.
Qin Junlan pointed to her neck. “The bite mark you left is still here. Want to bite it again for comparison?”
Bai Lansheng said nothing. Her hands clenched tightly in her lap, and the corners of her mouth tensed.
The system, watching the situation unfold, was starting to panic.
System: You are dealing with the post-darkened Bai Lansheng. If she holds a grudge against you, it will become much harder to clear her corruption value.
Qin Junlan: Relax. I know what I am doing.
She pulled her chair closer. Her long legs boxed in Bai Lansheng’s legs from both sides. She rested her hands on the arms of Bai Lansheng’s chair, leaning in until their faces were only inches apart.
Bai Lansheng looked away.
Qin Junlan remained patient. Slowly, she pulled her legs in even tighter. When the two pairs of legs were side by side, she leaned in even more. Her fingertips brushed over the bite mark on her own neck as she watched Bai Lansheng’s face closely.
“Can I bite you again?” she asked softly.
For one sharp moment, Qin Junlan felt a wave of cold, cutting hostility.
But it vanished almost immediately.
Bai Lansheng lowered her head and looked shy.
Qin Junlan felt slightly disappointed. She had hoped to draw out a more honest reaction.
As soon as the seven-hour timer ended, the system hurriedly announced the mission results, clearly afraid that Qin Junlan would stir up more trouble.
System: Mission complete. Locate Bai Lansheng. Performance rating: Excellent. Reward unlocked: corruption value tracking system.
Qin Junlan: Check Bai Lansheng’s corruption value.
System: Searching. Result: Bai Lansheng’s corruption value is above one hundred.
Qin Junlan: One hundred is one thing, but what does the plus sign mean?
System: The maximum value this system can display is one hundred. Bai Lansheng’s actual corruption value exceeds the limit, so it is shown as one hundred and above.
Qin Junlan: So, in other words, her corruption has broken the upper limit?
System: That is correct.
Qin Junlan: Stop using those cutesy emoticons. They don’t match your robotic tone at all.
After venting her annoyance at the system, Qin Junlan glanced over at Bai Lansheng again. With a corruption value like that, she really was as dark as they come.
Just as Qin Junlan finished reading the numbers, there was a noise at the door.
The person had not entered yet, but Qin Junlan already had a guess who it might be.
She looked at Bai Lansheng and saw that her head was still lowered.
She was not calling for help.
