Transmigrated into the Scummy Alpha of the Apocalypse Heroine (GL) - Chapter 9
Qin Junlan felt completely unsettled. Bai Lansheng’s sudden action made the storyline feel increasingly surreal.
When she looked back, Ke Nian, who had just been lying on the floor groaning, had completely disappeared.
Qin Junlan asked, “Where did Ke Nian go?”
The system responded, “She ran off while you were busy saving someone.”
Qin Junlan frowned. “And you didn’t think to tell me?”
The system replied, “You always say I talk too much and get in your way. I was just trying to be considerate this time. Don’t you think I’m thoughtful?”
Qin Junlan fell silent, her expression blank.
She began to realize that her role in this entire mess might be much bigger than she had expected.
The person she had thought was the main character, Ke Nian, had just run off, leaving only her and Bai Lansheng behind.
In other words, maybe the real main character was her all along.
She had caused Bai Lansheng to fall into darkness, and now she had to be the one to pull her back out.
Wasn’t this the same as wrecking a car and then being forced to repair it?
The mission had just become much more difficult.
The one who had hurt Bai Lansheng was the original Qin Sisi. But now Qin Junlan was the one left to clean up the mess.
If Bai Lansheng could separate her from the original host, this might not be so hard. But from the moment Bai Lansheng woke up, she had tried to stab her. And her corruption value was already maxed out. No matter what Qin Junlan said, Bai Lansheng would most likely think she was just making up excuses.
Qin Junlan glanced again at the mission requirements. The goal was “to ensure the target grows up healthy and strong.” That vague wording offered no clear standard for success.
There was also no time limit and no specific location, which suggested this was a long-term mission.
And Bai Lansheng clearly had a tendency toward self-destruction. Qin Junlan would have to be constantly alert. In other words, she would have to keep Bai Lansheng by her side at all times.
Qin Junlan muttered in her mind, “System, give me a new feature. Turn Bai Lansheng into something small, like a keychain. Or even better, a small animal. That would make things easier.”
She had experience taming creatures, after all.
The system responded, “Stop trying to cheat the rules. That kind of thinking is dangerous.”
Qin Junlan replied, “What’s really dangerous is my life expectancy right now.”
She pulled out a vial of sleep mist and sprayed it directly at Bai Lansheng, who quickly fell into a deep sleep.
There was no time to talk right now. If Ke Nian returned with backup, things would get ugly. After all, Qin Junlan was not supposed to be in the hotel in the first place.
Besides, she had an appointment to keep with Green Hair.
Because carrying someone around openly would draw too much attention, Qin Junlan stayed in her hotel uniform and hid Bai Lansheng under a dining table as she made her way downstairs. Once they reached the second floor, she changed into a loose shirt that she had picked from Bai Lansheng’s clothing.
She wrapped Bai Lansheng in the hotel bathrobe to keep her face hidden.
When Green Hair saw her, she was surprised to see that Qin Junlan had brought someone with her.
“Is she asleep?” she asked.
Qin Junlan nodded.
Green Hair tried to sneak a look at the girl’s face, but Qin Junlan stopped her. However, after carrying someone for so long, Qin Junlan was tired, and her reflexes were slower than usual. Green Hair managed to catch a glimpse.
She looked at Qin Junlan, then at the unconscious Bai Lansheng.
No wonder the boss was being so protective. She had been bitten.
Green Hair gave her a thumbs-up. “Boss, you’re amazing. You hooked up with her in just one night. Teach me how to flirt with girls sometime, will you?”
Qin Junlan handed her the hotel uniform to return, along with some money. “Let me borrow your bike. You figure out another way home.”
Green Hair saluted. “Got it. Stay safe on the road.”
Qin Junlan rode off with Bai Lansheng on the back of the motorcycle. Green Hair rubbed her chin, thinking to herself that judging by the way the girl looked dazed and helpless, the boss must have gone full beast mode last night.
Her eyes lit up as an idea came to her. She quickly ran off.
As she disappeared, someone watched from above.
“Are those the ones who snuck in?”
“Yes. One went up to the second floor. The other boldly entered a guest’s room.”
“Do we know who they are?”
“The one with green hair is nicknamed Green Hair. Her real name is Yu Zhao. The other is called Qin Sisi. She’s an enforcer from Sector D of the Eastern District.”
“Did they cause any real trouble?”
“Not really. One hotel employee was knocked unconscious.”
“Dock that employee’s pay.”
“Should we punish the person who let them in?”
“People are always curious about this place. No need to come down too hard. Fine them half their wages.”
“Understood.”
“And what about the guest who was taken away? Have we confirmed her identity?”
“Already checked. She’s just an ordinary tourist.”
“Then there’s no need to waste more time. Inform the boss of the Eastern District and let her handle it.”
Qin Junlan had chosen to take Green Hair’s motorcycle because she knew people would start asking questions if an Alpha was seen traveling around with an Omega. It was safer to avoid attracting attention.
She had memorized the way there, so even if the return trip was slower, at least it would be quiet and safe.
And her caution turned out to be well-justified. They were only halfway home when Bai Lansheng began to stir.
The sleep mist, which was supposed to keep someone knocked out for hours, had only worked for less than two.
Qin Junlan asked herself, “Was the advertisement a lie? Is this expired, or just a fake product?”
The system stayed completely silent.
Qin Junlan was speechless.
The system could pretend to go offline, but Bai Lansheng was now awake and clearly not calm. Realizing she was lying on a motorcycle’s fuel tank with Qin Junlan right behind her, she began to struggle.
“Stop moving. We’re still riding.”
Qin Junlan was not a great driver, and the road was rough. That was also why they had only made it halfway so far.
But Bai Lansheng wasn’t listening to her at all. The more Qin Junlan told her not to move, the more she struggled, completely unafraid of falling off the motorcycle.
Qin Junlan clicked her tongue and gave her a light smack on the butt to get her to behave.
To Qin Junlan, it was the kind of thing you’d do to a naughty child. But to the already darkened Bai Lansheng, it felt like blatant harassment. She thrashed like a fish out of water, flailing wildly.
Qin Junlan hurried to hit the brakes, but it was too late. The front of the bike smashed into a nearby building.
The front wheel was bent from the impact.
Bai Lansheng fell hard to the ground. Tears welled up from the pain, but she still glared fiercely at Qin Junlan.
Qin Junlan said nothing.
She told herself to let it go. There was no point arguing with a brat.
At least anger was better than despair.
Luckily, they hadn’t reached the back roads yet. There was still a repair station nearby. Qin Junlan dragged Bai Lansheng over so they could rest while the bike was fixed.
The repair shop was a run-down place. Even the chairs were thick with dust. Qin Junlan didn’t care, dusted one off, and sat down. When she saw that Bai Lansheng wouldn’t budge, she asked the shop owner for a newspaper to use as a seat cushion for her.
But Bai Lansheng stood stubbornly off to the side, hands behind her back, refusing to sit.
Qin Junlan watched her for a while and motioned her over.
Bai Lansheng turned her head away.
Qin Junlan asked for some cool boiled water, then grabbed Bai Lansheng’s arm.
“What are you doing?” Bai Lansheng’s reaction was intense. In the scuffle, she accidentally scratched Qin Junlan’s cheek.
Qin Junlan calmly replied, “Doesn’t your hand hurt? I’m trying to get the gravel out.”
When they fell, Bai Lansheng had been sitting in the front with no support. Her elbows and palms had been scraped badly, and small stones were embedded in the wounds. Qin Junlan only noticed when she saw Bai Lansheng clutching her hand tightly.
After she helped pick the gravel out, she took a sip of the water. Finally, she felt a bit more comfortable.
The sun had risen higher, and the air was starting to heat up.
Qin Junlan glanced up at the sky.
When it came time to pay, she used Bai Lansheng’s money.
Meeting Bai Lansheng’s gaze head-on, Qin Junlan said, “I’ll write you an IOU when we get back.”
Bai Lansheng thought, Yeah right. Like I’d believe that. You don’t look like someone who could pay anything back.
She couldn’t even be bothered to respond.
When the bike was finally fixed, Qin Junlan held out a sunhat. “Are you getting on the bike yourself, or do I tie your hands and make you walk while I drive?”
Was she seriously threatening to drag her behind the motorcycle? Bai Lansheng slowly moved toward the bike but still refused to get on.
The repair shop owner, who had nothing to do now that the job was done, came over to chat. Seeing Bai Lansheng’s stubborn look and Qin Junlan’s exasperated expression, he chuckled.
“Did you make her mad? Let it go. One day she’ll understand.”
Qin Junlan muttered, “You hear that? Get on.”
Bai Lansheng refused to move.
The owner shook his head. “You need to be gentler. Omegas don’t respond well to being yelled at like that.”
Then he turned to Bai Lansheng. “I saw her take care of your wounds. But did you notice her arm is still bleeding?”
Bai Lansheng kept her face cold and expressionless. That had nothing to do with her.
Qin Junlan put the sunhat on her head, picked her up, and put her on the bike.
She pressed her down into the seat and warned, “Keep your head low so you don’t block my view. If you try to jump off again, you’ll have to crawl the rest of the way.”
There weren’t going to be any more repair shops along this road.
They had only bought one sunhat, and she gave it to Bai Lansheng, leaving herself without one.
Back on the bike, Bai Lansheng sat silently as Qin Junlan reached around her to grip the handlebars. When she saw the bl00d on Qin Junlan’s elbow, she didn’t struggle again.
It was partly because she had to hold the sunhat down to keep the wind from blowing it off, so she couldn’t move even if she wanted to.
The sun was harsh, but the breeze was surprisingly gentle once the bike got going.
The battered motorbike rumbled down the bumpy dirt road. Bai Lansheng watched as the scenery became more and more familiar. The cracked, dusty road felt like a metaphor for her own colorless life.
She had returned to the swamp-like place where she had been dragged down before.
A place where she was destined to rot.
Qin Junlan, however, wasn’t thinking about anything so heavy. Riding the bike for this long was exhausting, especially with how bumpy the road was. She was starting to feel sore herself. Ever since they left the repair shop, Bai Lansheng hadn’t moved a muscle. Her endurance was impressive.
No wonder she was once capable of destroying the world. That level of self-control was on another level.
“We’re here.”
Qin Junlan looked at what she called her “birthplace.”
Someone poked their head out, saw it was her, and quickly pulled back. Others, a bit bolder, greeted her. Their eyes occasionally drifted to Bai Lansheng.
Qin Junlan thought to herself, It’s like a fairy dropped into a rough village. Of course she doesn’t fit in.
She parked the bike at the entrance of the alley. She really didn’t want to step in the filth further down. If the alley had been just a bit wider, she would’ve driven the bike right up to the front door.
After getting off, she shook out her numb legs, while Bai Lansheng remained slumped on the bike, staring blankly.
Qin Junlan started walking. Bai Lansheng hesitated, then quietly followed.
But…
Qin Junlan glanced back at her and suddenly laughed. “You look like a waddling goose right now.”
Bai Lansheng froze and stared at her.
The sunlight behind Qin Junlan made it hard to see her face clearly, but she heard two soft “quack quacks.”
Before she could react further, Qin Junlan pushed open the wooden gate.
They were home.
Bai Lansheng stared at the familiar old house and went completely still.
