Transmigrated into the Villainess Alpha Who Marked the Female Lead (GL) - Chapter 18
Shopping and playing at an amusement park are inherently tiring activities. After playing for most of the day, Ji Ci was truly exhausted. The walk from the amusement park to the bus stop, neither too long nor too short, felt like an immense distance for Ji Ci in her current state.
Her body was already flashing an orange warning,
But Ji Ci didn’t think she was that delicate and walked towards the main street, enduring the dizziness and pain.
Bai Yueli held her hand, while with her other hand, she took out her phone, swiping the screen, and casually asked, “Where does Xiao Ci live?”
Ji Ci sweetly replied, “Ruijing City Garden.”
It wasn’t until a silver car pulled up in front of them, and Bai Yueli opened the back door, gesturing for her to get in first, that Ji Ci realized she had asked for the address to call a ride-sharing service.
She had wondered why Bai Yueli remained indifferent when the 419 bus arrived; she had thought perhaps there were too many people, and she wanted to wait for the next one.
As Ji Ci marveled at Bai Yueli’s thoughtfulness, she took out her phone and brought up the QR code scanning interface, “Senior, please cover the fare for now. I’ll transfer the money to you when we get back.”
Bai Yueli’s peripheral vision caught her phone screen, understanding her intent, “No…”
Just as one word left her mouth, the junior’s expression immediately changed. Her eyes widened slightly, her cheeks puffed out, looking earnest and stubborn. Bai Yueli chuckled helplessly inside, then withdrew her words and silently pulled up her own QR code for Ji Ci.
With a “beep,” it scanned successfully.
The page jumped to a fluffy rabbit image, with the nickname “Yue” consisting of a few simple letters next to it.
Ji Ci sent a friend request, and soon after, received a notification that they were now friends.
Ji Ci instinctively clicked on “favorites,” wanting to send an emoji, but the original owner’s favorites were empty. Oh, not entirely; there were a few files with direct and explicit names, which scared her into quickly backing out, afraid of accidentally selecting and sending one.
Finally, out of options, she chose the most innocent-looking grinning emoji from WeChat’s default selection, typed “three” consecutively, and hit send.
Next to her, there was a “ding.”
Bai Yueli thought that simply passing the verification was enough. They were adding each other face-to-face, so there was no need to say hello. After accepting, she had put her phone back in her bag.
Now, with the WeChat notification sound, she took out her phone and opened it. Three grinning faces were smiling at her.
She propped her hand on her forehead, her lips involuntarily curving upwards, silently chuckling.
Actually, it wasn’t that funny,
The person who usually sent her WeChat messages used emojis without repeating them, but it wasn’t that using WeChat’s built-in ones was entirely out of the question. It was just that this particular grinning emoji, with its silly smile, looked so much like this junior. In her mind, it inexplicably overlapped with Ji Ci’s face.
She stopped smiling, brought up her emoji library, and efficiently added three as well.
Ji Ci looked at the three handshake emojis sent back and fell into thought.
I mean, the style of their chat history didn’t look like that of vibrant young girls at all; it looked more like a few middle-aged uncles and aunties chatting over tea.
“…”
Back home, she took a refreshing hot shower, washing away the day’s fatigue. Ji Ci dried her hair with a towel and sat down at her desk.
It was only a little past eight, and she didn’t like using a hairdryer, preferring to let it air dry.
She had planned to memorize some vocabulary before sleeping, but her mind was currently too excited, constantly replaying the day’s experiences. She probably wouldn’t be able to study today.
Ji Ci took out paper and pen, intending to draw the most beautiful scene in her mind. Today, what was the most unforgettable thing that directly struck her sense of aesthetics?
She subconsciously recalled the scene while waiting for the bus,
The setting sun dyed the earth an orange-red,
The girl, looking elsewhere, turned back for a moment. Her soft, long hair fluttered in the wind, her features gentle and beautiful under the sunset. Each feature, taken individually, was exquisitely delicate, even surpassing those refined by cosmetic surgery. Yet, put together, they didn’t look like a generic, hospital-made face. Perhaps it was the perfectly placed tear mole under her eye that added so much charm to her whole being.
No matter how beautiful the scene in her mind was, her artistic skills were not up to par.
Ji Ci was completely speechless.
Hair is so hard, why does hair even exist!!! In her depiction, the lightly fluttering strands turned into dense algae.
It was simply a desecration of the person…
In a short while, Ji Ci had already wasted several sheets of paper. She suddenly remembered that the original owner had a tablet, and it came with a pen.
Perhaps she could try it on the tablet.
She took it out of the drawer. Since it hadn’t been used for a long time, the tablet had automatically shut down. She plugged in the charger and spent some time charging the pencil. Ji Ci intended to open the drawing software, but her hand accidentally trembled, and she tapped the notes app next to it.
The background was miraculously still there,
What met her eyes were well-formatted handwritten notes, recording the date and weather.
Ji Ci never expected the original owner to have a habit of writing a diary. The daily entries weren’t long, just a sentence or so, but they provided a rough outline of the original owner’s day.
The things worth writing in the original owner’s diary were nothing more than a few items: camera, senior, image city.
Every day it was them…
March 2nd, Sunny
Senior went back early today, didn’t meet her.
March 3rd, Cloudy
Pei Ling asked me to go to Zhonghai, but Mom came back today.
Why did she come back? I really hope she never comes back.
••••
March 14th, Overcast
The blonde girl next to Senior seems to have noticed me taking pictures of them.
March 15th, Cloudy
The camera inexplicably broke. Can’t take it for repair until tomorrow.
••••
Ji Ci yawned lazily as she read, the original owner’s diary was more hypnotic than math problems.
She was about to exit but took one last casual glance,
March 17th
Dreamed of her again today.
Ji Ci stopped her yawn, blinking back two physiological tears that had welled up in her eyes.
There were no more notes after March 17th.
Ji Ci thought about it; this seemed to be the day before she transmigrated.
Regarding this “her,” Ji Ci instinctively thought of Bai Yueli, but then felt it wasn’t quite right. The original owner’s address for Bai Yueli had always been clear, referring to her as Senior.
So, who was this “her” that was worth writing in the original owner’s diary?
Unable to figure it out, Ji Ci quickly let it go.
Perhaps the original owner was lazy that day and didn’t want to write “Senior,” so she just used “her” instead. Or perhaps it was the original owner’s Omega mother. Looking back, her Omega mother had been mentioned once before. It’s inevitable for a daughter to miss her mother, even someone like the original owner might have a side that wants to cuddle in her mother’s arms.
The next day,
She had been in this world for a week or two now, and Ji Ci had encountered all the courses. The teachers at North First were all excellent educators, teaching in a humorous and engaging way, with strong professional skills and easy-going personalities.
The most baffling person was probably the first one she met, old Lady Zhang.
She went back on her word, and on top of that, she was moody and unpredictable in her actions.
Today, she actually asked them to form some kind of English interest group, taking the top sixteen from the last semester’s final exam as group leaders, dividing them into eight groups, and letting everyone find their own teammates.
Ji Ci had a massive headache.
With the original owner’s social skills, who could she possibly team up with? And starting her own group? Heh, with that magnificent score of 29 points??
Sigh, truly…
Ji Ci carried this nagging problem until lunchtime. She had been scouting all morning but hadn’t found a suitable candidate.
At least she had to eat,
Pei Ling hadn’t woken up, so she had to go to the cafeteria alone. After getting her food, she found a corner table with her tray.
This was the busiest time for dining. North First was a public school, and in some aspects, it was different from schools in the real world. For instance, the dishes—some were expensive and rare, and if you arrived late, they’d be gone.
The cafeteria was packed, filled with people. Her spot was off to the side, and only a few seats remained there.
“Sister Yang, there are no seats anywhere,” girl A said.
“There seem to be a few empty seats over there,” girl B nudged her chin.
Ji Ci looked up and saw that those few people had also noticed her. The two girls who had been talking immediately showed expressions of disgust.
Ji Ci: “…”
These few were from their Class Five, and the one they protected like a star in their midst was old Lady Zhang’s favorite, Zuo Yang, who was first in English.
Girl A: “If I had to sit there, I think I’d rather eat standing.”
“Me too. I’ve always been afraid to interact with this ‘Ji’ person. I’m an Omega…”
Ji Ci: “…”
You’re overthinking it.
Although the original owner was a bit of a psycho, her taste was very particular. Only the most excellent, best-looking, and highest-ranked person would do.
“I think student Ji is quite good. Do you really have to be so loud that people from other classes think our class is divided?” Zuo Yang said calmly.
After speaking, she gave Ji Ci a slight smile. Ji Ci was somewhat surprised; this was her first direct interaction with Zuo Yang, and she unexpectedly felt that Zuo Yang was nice, at least not as aloof and hateful as she appeared.
The two girls pouted and followed Zuo Yang, reluctantly sitting down.
Actually, Ji Ci had pretty much finished eating. She had a small appetite and felt full but still ate slowly, looking up at Zuo Yang frequently.
Perhaps feeling the time was right, she put down her chopsticks and smiled: “Class rep, is your group still short on people?”
“What’s wrong?” Zuo Yang looked up: “Are you thinking of…?”
Girl B sneered: “Lots of people want Sister Yang. I don’t know how you even have the nerve to ask.”
Ji Ci: “…”
Zuo Yang stared at her, thought for a moment, and said, “If you want to join my group, I’ll write your name down when we get back to the classroom. Our group happens to be short one person.”
Girl B looked at her in disbelief: “Sister Yang???”
“You’ve all seen student Ji’s ability these past few days,” Zuo Yang said. “Even if her foundation is weak, it doesn’t matter. Teacher Zhang’s original intention was for everyone to improve together, not for grade comparison.”
Ji Ci’s eyes lit up.
As expected of the class rep, she was truly broad-minded.
Zuo Yang’s entire image in her mind was elevated.
The two girls were also convinced by Zuo Yang’s words and stopped arguing.
“Then… can I bring one more person?” Thinking of the sister who had shared thick and thin with the original owner, Ji Ci, before she could even be happy for herself, fell back into humility.
“You’re not talking about Pei Ling, are you???” Girl A’s eyes widened, showing a lot of white.
Ji Ci activated her passive skill – silence.
“No! Absolutely not!” Girl A said, “Sister Yang, if you add Pei Ling too, then I’m leaving.”
Ji Ci: “…”
Sigh.
Zuo Yang thought for a moment, “Is the person student Ji is referring to really Pei Ling?”
Ji Ci nodded, saying yes.
“I’m sorry, I cannot accept your suggestion,” Zuo Yang said. “It’s not that I doubt student Pei’s ability; it’s just that our group is already full.”
Ji Ci nodded, indicating understanding.
At most, Zuo Yang had only met her this one time. Ultimately, she had been too presumptuous.
They finished the meal, each with their own thoughts. Zuo Yang invited her to return to the classroom with them, but Ji Ci politely declined.
Her presence would only create ill will between Zuo Yang and the other two girls; she’d rather not be the bad guy.
Ji Ci waited until they left before taking her tray to the cart.
The cafeteria was no longer as crowded as before. Ji Ci looked up and immediately saw a striking figure entering from the doorway.
At this hour, there were hardly any people coming to the cafeteria. Others were leaving as they entered, making them particularly noticeable.
The group consisted of four people: Jiang Yi and a girl together, and Bai Yueli shoulder-to-shoulder with another boy, laughing and chatting, maintaining her usual amiable demeanor.
Today, she wore her hair tied back in a flowing ponytail, which was the first time Ji Ci had seen her with this hairstyle. She held a notebook in her hand, looking lively and energetic. The boy had neat, short bangs, refined features, and was very tall, probably similar to Ji Feng, but slightly more mature.
They were walking towards the aisle where Ji Ci was.
Ji Ci’s heart inexplicably thumped. Even though she had just spent an entire afternoon with Bai Yueli at the amusement park yesterday, not seeing her for a day felt like spanning across seasons.
Her smile was already fixed, just waiting to curve slightly when Bai Yueli approached.
And she did exactly that, but as soon as she saw Bai Yueli, her smile wasn’t controlled well. Her almond eyes curved into narrow slits, “Senior.”
When she opened her eyes, only the backs of a group of people remained.
Ji Ci: “…”
She never expected that Bai Yueli wouldn’t even greet her.
She could feel the slight breeze that stirred as the girl passed her, carrying a familiar floral scent. Their voices also lingered in her ears; the girl’s voice was clear and gentle, and just hearing her laughter, she could imagine her breathing softly near her ear.
Everything felt so familiar…
Except the object of her gentle smile had changed to someone else.
Ji Ci was like a statue,
Yesterday felt like a dream.
