Transmigrated to the Interstellar Era to Raise Mermaids GL - Chapter 17
The boat reached the third island. Orsa and Sam set off again, going ahead to the next destination.
Repeating this cycle, the time spent on the islands was significantly shortened. He Jia looked at the one after another “cleaning complete” markers on the map, feeling that the goal of returning before sunset was getting closer!
The boat speed today was the fastest all along. He Jia watched Orsa dive into the sea and disappear time after time, and stood on the deck gazing out time after time.
Her fear of the ocean was gradually being covered by anticipation. Whenever she separated from Orsa, she wished the boat could go faster, and even imagined the scene of sitting on Sam’s tentacles with Orsa in her mind.
But when her feet actually stepped into the water, she still reflexively hurried to the shore.
The group walked onto the beach dyed red by the sunset. He Jia said to Orsa and Sam, “Thank you so much for today! After cleaning this island, I can return to base. You two should go back and rest early!”
Orsa nodded, swam a few meters towards the ocean, then turned back and said to He Jia, “The sun is setting soon. We need to hurry. I’ll take you back first!”
“Ah, now?”
“You make the records first, and let Sharon drive the boat back herself after finishing the cleaning.”
He Jia nodded. Since victory was in sight, she also wanted to strive not to have a single penny deducted, so she quickly ran around the island to make the records and returned to Orsa, asking, “Is Sam taking us back?”
The scene in her mind would be realized so quickly. He Jia’s nervous expression also carried a hint of eager anticipation.
“No, its speed is not as fast as mine.” Orsa said, “I’ll swim you back.”
“What…?!”
He Jia stared dumbfounded at the calm-faced Orsa. After confirming the other party was not joking, she shook her head and said, “I… I don’t dare…”
“If you’re afraid, you can first turn on the inflatable switch on your protective suit.” Orsa reached out her hand to her, her voice soft yet brooking no refusal: “Come here.”
The soft light of the setting sun reflected in her eyes, floating with the waves, making those azure eyes appear particularly firm and bright.
Seeing Orsa’s lower body submerged in the ocean as if walking on solid ground, He Jia seemed to have her heart bewitched again. She obediently stepped into the water splash and walked towards her step by step.
“Ah!”
The moment He Jia’s foot missed the bottom, Orsa stepped forward, grabbed her arm, and steadily supported her in front of herself with just one arm.
She wiped away the water droplets splashed on He Jia’s cheek, placed one of her hands on her own shoulder, and chuckled, “Trust me, you won’t sink.”
Orsa turned around and floated on the sea surface. After confirming He Jia was lying prone on her back, she lightly flicked her fish tail twice and swoosh broke through the waves like a feathered arrow shot from a bow.
“Eh eh eh! So fast?!” He Jia, who hadn’t mentally prepared, was so startled she quickly closed her eyes.
Sam realized they had suddenly swum far away and shouted anxiously, “Master! How can you take this human yourself! You’re already… oh dear, wait for me!”
Seeing that Orsa didn’t look back at all, it could only desperately move all its tentacles, chasing after them with all its might.
He Jia lowered her head and smelled the clean, snow-like scent from Orsa’s neck. Her frantic heartbeat overwhelmed her fear of the ocean, and she felt as if she were dreaming.
As Orsa’s lithe body surged up a wave, He Jia, who was rapidly descending with her, couldn’t help but let out a surprised cry. She hugged the firm, delicate waist and dropped again. She was steadily supported out of the water by the torso of the person beneath her, without choking on a single drop of water.
Just like gliding on a surfboard, He Jia quickly grasped the joy of personally bobbing and weaving through the seawater.
She would rise and fall with the waves, feeling incredibly exciting while not having to worry about being swallowed by the sea. Cool splashes of water often sprayed onto her body, making all the pores on her body feel refreshed as if they had opened up.
He Jia’s mood gradually relaxed. She let go of the arms tightly embracing the other person, placed one hand on Orsa’s shoulder, and opened her eyes to watch a few strands of golden hair slide over the back of her hand, gently drifting on the sea surface.
Ahead, a large school of colorful small fish came right towards them. It was as if they were traveling on a specially cleared path in the ocean; the fish automatically split into two groups and swam past their left and right sides, without even touching a single strand of hair drifting with the waves.
He Jia found it extremely interesting. She deliberately stretched out her arm to block the small fish’s path.
Seeing the fish dart away haphazardly from her fingertips, the slightly cool water current rushing into her palm felt comfortably like tickling. Her body was then suddenly lifted upwards by a huge wave. She happily raised her hand and shouted like she was on a roller coaster: “Ahhhh! How exciting!”
Listening to the clear cries beside her ear, transforming from panicked trembling to unrestrained soaring, Orsa felt as if He Jia’s curved smiling eyes and slightly red cheeks were reflected on the water surface before her.
She was momentarily distracted. She severely pinched her arm underwater to snap out of it, realizing the hotel beach was already in sight.
Orsa sighed with relief, swung her fish tail in one go to swim onto the shallow beach, slowly decelerating and straightening her body.
He Jia got off her, rolled a few times in the water, shook her soaking wet fringe, and sat up, laughing: “Wow, that was amazing! That was too much fun!”
She looked up and saw Orsa swimming back towards the ocean. The distant sunset was about to completely drop below the horizon. She quickly stood up, frantically waved at her, and shouted loudly, “Goodbye! Thank you for taking me back! I feel super happy, and I’m not afraid at all!”
Orsa’s body below the shoulders was submerged in the water. Although she didn’t even have the strength to lift her arm, she still nodded to He Jia without changing her expression.
Seeing He Jia turn around and run towards the control room, she closed her eyes and, with a wave, fell backward into the ocean.
Sam, who had finally caught up, followed her into the sea, extended a tentacle to wrap around Orsa’s vertically descending body, and heard her say, “Sam, take me into the shell.”
Sam had already noticed she was physically exhausted. While taking her down, it couldn’t help but ask, “Master, your body hasn’t fully recovered, and you didn’t rest in the shell last night. Why did you insist on swimming back with that Earthling!”
“I promised to take her back before sunset, and my maid cannot be afraid of water…”
Orsa’s consciousness began to gradually blur. He Jia’s wet cheeks and bright, sparkling eyes in the sunset reappeared before her.
It’s good. Finally, she no longer looks like a trembling rabbit.
“Master is really good to this new maid.” Sam said sourly, “Much better than you are to me.”
“It’s different.”
“How is it different?” Could it be just because that Earthling knows how to make fire and cook, so Master likes her especially?
Sam was so angry it looked like a pufferfish with tentacles.
“She hasn’t agreed to be my maid yet…”
Therefore, she just didn’t want to leave a bad impression on He Jia.
Orsa, utterly exhausted, completely fell into a deep sleep.
