Transmigrated to the Interstellar Era to Raise Mermaids GL - Chapter 34
“…The mermaid gazed intently at the sleeping face of the princess. She simply could not bring herself to kill the one she loved. She threw the sharp knife out the window, ready to jump into the sea and accept the fate of turning into a foam on the following morning.”
On the crowded noble avenue, only the sound from the translator pen in front of Hojia could be heard. Everyone was deeply absorbed in the story she was telling, so tense they barely dared to breathe.
Thinking of the mermaid soon turning into foam, some emotional people even began to secretly wipe away tears.
“Just then, the mermaid suddenly heard the princess call out her name in her dream. It turned out the princess was only marrying the neighboring prince out of gratitude, and she truly loved the little mermaid. The mermaid happily danced on the beach, sketching the scene of how she had rescued the princess earlier. The princess, discovering the truth, was also overjoyed. She sent away the prince who had deceived her, and she and the little mermaid lived happily ever after.”
While the people were still savoring the wonderful ending, Orsha flashed Hojia a signal to retreat.
Hojia understood and said, “Alright, my story is finished. Everyone, hurry home to rest! I hope this Earth bedtime story will give you all sweet dreams tonight. Good night!”
With that, they waved at the camera with smiles as the descending lecture platform carried them out of sight.
It wasn’t until the roof above the palace returned to its circular shape that a burst of cheers erupted from the street, as if people had just awoken from a dream.
“Wuwuwu, that was so good! I was already crying for the little mermaid, but I didn’t expect a happy ending! Wuwuwu, now I’m crying because I’m happy for them! My tears are worthless!”
“Aaaah, I didn’t get enough, didn’t get enough! I want to keep hearing the story of what happened after they got together! Wait, what was the Princess’s teacher’s name again?”
“I forgot too, alien names are so hard to remember… But it’s okay, let’s hurry home and watch the replay! I’m going to record this story and listen to the beautiful love story of the mermaid and the princess every night before bed!”
“Remember to send me a copy too! No wonder Her Highness suddenly loves Earth culture and wants to learn Earth Language! If even the story translated by the machine is this captivating, imagine the joy of ascending to heaven if we could understand the teacher directly!”
“Mhm mhm mhm, what you’re saying makes me want to learn Earth Language too! But there doesn’t seem to be anywhere in the Mus Star System to learn foreign languages… I just realized our star system is so closed off! I’m going online to rally support for Her Highness’s decision to promote exchange with foreign star systems!”
“Hey, hey, hey! Look quickly, someone online started a petition demanding the Princess’s Earth Language teacher tell everyone a bedtime story every day! Hurry and sign it!!!”
“Where, where? Send me the link! I’m dragging everyone I know to sign!”
Orsha and Hojia walked into the backyard again, hearing the discussion of the still-dispersing crowd through the palace wall.
“Wow, really? I thought they were listening intently just because of your celebrity effect! I didn’t realize they liked stories this much!” Hojia was overwhelmed.
“The Mus Star System is rich in resources. My ancestors mastered the most advanced technology using mental power, which propelled Mus Star to become the most powerful planet in the entire galaxy. But perhaps due to deliberate guidance from the Lasea family, or perhaps because the star system is too young, it is also a cultural desert. Your stories are not just novel and interesting to me, but to all Mus Star people.”
After hearing Orsha’s explanation, Hojia was relieved.
A fairy tale for children was enough to capture so many hearts. She had a whole basketful of classic literature and online fiction to slowly tell the Mus Star people. Resources were abundant!
“However, I don’t like today’s story.” Orsha suddenly stopped, turning to face her.
Hojia asked, puzzled, “Don’t you like hearing love stories?”
To avoid giving the Mus Star people a psychological trauma during their first meeting, she had even sheathed her forty-meter-long knife and deliberately changed the tragedy into a happy ending!
“I don’t like what the princess in the story did.”
Orsha took a step forward and lifted Hojia’s chin.
She felt that Hojia’s smile today seemed a little forced, as if she were hiding something, and even this happy story seemed to contain a hint of sadness.
“Whether it’s for gratitude, the country, or anything else.”
Orsha stared deeply at her and said, “Remember this: I will not exchange my love for anything.”
Looking at her eyes, which were as clear and translucent as sapphires, Hojia’s heart felt as if it had been suddenly struck, and her eyes uncontrollably welled up with tears.
She quickly ran to the edge of the pool to splash water on her face, using the cool pool water to cool down her feverish eyes. When Orsha walked up to her, she turned her head and forced a smile: “Aiya, why are you suddenly saying such mushy things? You’ve touched me so much I won’t be able to sleep tonight!”
Seeing Hojia’s wet cheeks and misty eyes, Orsha reached out and stroked her soft bangs: “Then how about I distract you?”
“Okay.” Hojia looked at her lips, which were so close, and nervously swallowed.
Is she going to kiss me?
Kissing and cuddling in such a public place feels a bit embarrassing!
“Wait here for a moment.”
Seeing Orsha stride into the room closest to the pool, Hojia felt a slight disappointment.
When she came out again, Orsha had changed into a silky, smooth, light-gold, sleeveless nightgown. In the darkness, she seemed to blend into her flowing golden hair, elegant and mysterious like a glowing elf in the forest. Her clear, beautiful features seemed to carry an air of seduction completely different from the dignified demeanor she had in her military uniform just moments ago.
Hojia saw her quickly walk towards her and involuntarily stood up to greet her, only to see Orsha jump straight into the water before reaching her side, the splash of water from the pool wetting her shoes and socks.
But she couldn’t care about anything else, her eyes fixed on the mermaid floating on the water’s surface.
Orsha’s golden hair spread out like seaweed in the water, setting off her jade-like, icy white skin. Below the skirt, a sapphire-blue fish tail was revealed, twinkling with light like a brilliant galaxy as she swam. It made her glow brightly in the clear, luminous night, as if she were wearing a stunning gold and blue gradient evening gown.
Hojia’s mouth was slightly ajar. She watched the figure, even more stunning than she had imagined, slowly swim away. She took off her wet shoes and socks, got into the water, and swam towards her.
Feeling someone approaching, Orsha opened her eyes and asked with a soft smile, “How is it?”
“Mhm mhm!” Hojia nodded repeatedly, her eyes reflecting the deep blue shimmer, smiling with genuine delight: “It’s so beautiful!”
“I’m glad you like it.”
Orsha straightened up and said, “Put on the aqualung. Shall we swim?”
“Now?” Hojia looked at the clock in the backyard; it was almost nine in the evening.
“A little exercise first, and then you’ll sleep better tonight.”
Orsha saw Hojia’s lips pressed together, looking a bit hesitant. She suddenly pointed to a little turtle perched on a water mushroom decoration on the far side of the pool: “Look, your Little Emerald is over there. Aren’t you going to bring it back to your room?”
“Oh, right, I almost forgot!”
Hojia swam in the direction she pointed, shouting, “Little Emerald, I’ve chosen a room. Come back with me!”
Little Emerald quickly scrambled to climb onto the turtle shell in the water: “No, no, no! This pool is big and comfortable, and there’s a silly octopus to chat with to relieve boredom. I don’t want to go back to that narrow, stuffy little fish tank!”
“Aiya, Little Emerald, why are you running! You’ve only been playing alone for a little while, have you forgotten who I am!”
Hojia plunged into the water in a hurry to chase him.
Although turtles were naturally good swimmers, his little short legs, no matter how hard they paddled, couldn’t out-swim Hojia, whose body was now augmented with the fish tail buff.
Seeing that Hojia was about to catch him, Little Emerald wailed, “Sam, come save me! If Hojia takes me away, no one will be here to play with you!”
The octopus, summoned by his call, was about to extend a tentacle from the pool to block Hojia, when Orsha’s voice came from afar: “Don’t bother her!”
It immediately retreated timidly: “I’m sorry, I can’t help you.”
Little Emerald was so angry he almost rolled his eyes. Less than two seconds later, Hojia caught him.
He was held in Hojia’s palm and swam to Orsha. He could only blow bubbles and plead, “Oh, merciful Princess, quickly tell her that even if I don’t go back to her room, I still recognize her as my owner! If I leave, Sam will be so lonely not understanding human speech!”
“It’s okay. My butler can also communicate via sound waves.”
Orsha reached out and smoothed Hojia’s wet bangs. She was displeased that Little Emerald was caught so quickly, meaning Hojia hadn’t gotten enough exercise.
Little Emerald had no choice but to betray his owner for his own benefit, making up things: “Princess, I’m telling you, Hojia super wants to share a room with you. If there’s a big light bulb like me in the room, you’ll have to throw me into the bathtub every time, how inconvenient would that be!”
After all, ‘live together’ and ‘live in one room’ is only one word difference. The meaning is about the same!
“Put him back!”
Orsha lifted Little Emerald out of Hojia’s hand and passed him to Sam’s tentacle: “Your turtle says you will always be its owner, but it wants to stay and keep Sam company.”
“Oh, well, okay then! I’ll come to the pool often to see it.”
Hojia suddenly realized something and looked at Orsha in surprise: “You can even understand what the turtle is saying!”
Does that mean she can directly read the consciousness of any creature in the water?
Oh no…
Hojia quickly and frantically climbed out of the pool. Before Orsha could explain, she rushed straight to her room, dripping wet and head bowed: “I-I-I suddenly feel so tired! I’m going back to sleep now. Good night!”
Orsha watched her retreating figure in utter panic and murmured to herself, “What is wrong with her today?”
“I know, I know!”
Little Emerald said knowingly, “She suddenly realized you’re a princess and the psychological gap is too big. She lacks security at this time and is probably overthinking a lot of bad things. You should hurry after her, eat her up and wipe her clean so she won’t have the energy to think!”
Seeing Orsha shoot him a cold glare, Little Emerald quickly retracted his neck into his shell and whispered, “It’s true! My previous owner always had to do that to coax his wife!”
Hojia ran back to her room, showered, and changed into pajamas, lying in bed.
She was indeed a bit tired after the whole day, but her mind was still a mess, tossing and turning on the bed, unable to fall asleep.
She had been dizzy with beauty just now and had carelessly entered the water. Did Orsha not see her thoughts?
She had just said they should start with holding hands, but she had not only kissed Orsha on her own initiative, but her mind had been racing faster than a rollercoaster at Mount Akina when she saw Orsha lying in the water! If Orsha knew, she would be too embarrassed to ever see her again!
“Knock, knock, knock.”
Suddenly hearing a knock on the door, Hojia ran to open it and saw Orsha standing by the door, her eyes slightly lowered, asking softly, “I can’t sleep in a new place. Can I come in and chat with you?”
