- Transmigrating as a Cannon Fodder in the Apocalypse, Seducing the Mad Female Lead
- Chapter 10 - How Could the Original Owner Be So Love-Struck?
The weather grew increasingly frigid. Su Tang had already switched to her thick down jacket. Only now did she truly grasp the reality of the Apocalypse, especially how the freezing temperatures made it impossible for many crops to survive.
Su Jianyu had ordered the construction of greenhouses using glass and plastic sheeting to protect their remaining crops from the frost.
With both natural disasters and human-made crises erupting simultaneously, even the winter temperatures were far colder than usual.
Su Tang huddled in her room, the fire burning hotter than ever. She clung tightly to Bai Yanxing, whose body radiated warmth, unwilling to let go. She practically burrowed into her embrace.
To be honest, she had initially sought to win her over purely for survival and selfish reasons.
Su Tang had only wanted to latch onto a powerful figure, but after spending these past few days with him, she realized the Female Lead’s character was truly remarkable. Cold and aloof to outsiders, yet warm and affectionate to those close to her.
Their black hair intertwined like a lovers’ knot, their fingers resting on her abdomen, the soft flesh beneath her fingertips slightly tense, making it irresistible to touch.
Bai Yanxing used to try to pry Su Tang’s hands off him, but now she had completely given up resisting. She didn’t know what had come over him, but she actually found these hugs and cuddles quite nice—at least they kept her warm.
Just then, a rhythmic knocking echoed from outside the door: knock, knock, knock. The forceful strikes were necessary to cut through the howling wind.
Bai Yanxing stood up and opened the door.
“Excuse me…”
Before she could finish speaking, she was greeted by a bouquet of roses frosted with ice crystals. The roses were vividly colored but completely scentless, clearly made of plastic.
“Su Tang, marry me!”
“I’ve passed your dad’s test. Now I can finally marry you.”
Chen Bin’s eyes crinkled with a smile, but she immediately realized something was wrong. The woman before her had a cool, aloof demeanor, especially her eyebrows—neither thick nor thin, they exuded an invisible pressure.
“You’re…”
He stumbled backward several steps, visibly shaken. She tilted her head left and right, as if checking if she had come to the wrong house.
But this was definitely Su Tang’s house, wasn’t it?
“Bai Yanxing,” she said, introducing herself simply. Yet, for some reason, a sense of irritation lingered in her heart, as if she resented this woman for disturbing her sleep.
Even without a university education, Bai Yanxing could guess the meaning behind the roses. In the post-apocalyptic world, human interaction served as the best teacher, and roses symbolized love.
“Su Tang’s roommate,” she finally managed to say, unable to think of a better way to describe their relationship.
Just then, Su Tang emerged from the room, throwing on a coat. She didn’t recognize the woman before her; she was another nameless cannon fodder character from the book.
Yet, within the author’s sparse background details lay the entire struggle and trajectory of their lives.
“What do you want?” Su Tang asked cautiously, avoiding asking her name directly. After all, they were old acquaintances, and suddenly asking her name would seem strange and risk exposing her true identity.
“Su Tang, your father asked me to hunt ten zombies. I’ve succeeded in hunting them all. Now I can marry you openly and honorably.”
As Chen Bin spoke, she pulled a fishing line from her backpack. Strung along it were ten dried zombie fingers, a gruesome sight.
Ugh…
Su Tang frowned deeply, her distaste for the zombie fingers palpable.
She had no idea how the original plot would unfold. After all, the author wouldn’t waste time on a minor character like her. She forced herself to remain calm.
“But I don’t want to get married yet, and I don’t like you,” Su Tang said carefully, choosing her words. She hadn’t expected that seducing the Female Lead would also entangle her in this mess.
“That’s okay. Feelings can grow over time. Besides…”
Chen Bin didn’t finish the sentence aloud, but her mind grew wary. How had the usually naive Su Tang become so shrewd?
“My feelings for you are genuine.”
Of course, her feelings were anything but genuine. She only said this because marrying Su Tang would secure control of the entire Black Wolf Gang for him.
In the Apocalypse, painstakingly building a shelter from scratch was no less challenging than fighting the Zombie King with bare hands. But inheriting one? That was a whole different story.
Su Tang: ……
Is she acting out a romance novel for herself right here? If she hadn’t read the original novel and known its core theme was the Female Lead’s relentless slaughter and the fact that over ninety percent of people’s hearts were rotten, she might have believed him.
After all, in the Apocalypse, everyone was on edge, and even Hannibal-style factions were common.
“I’m sorry, but can I refuse?” Su Tang took a step forward, emerging completely from the shadows.
The woman was clearly taken aback by her response. Just moments ago, she had seemed shy and hesitant.
“But you promised me! Before I left, you said that if I collected enough fingers to fill both hands, you’d marry me!”
Su Tang inwardly groaned. This must be one of the original owner’s messes, though the novel never mentioned it.
But following this clue, the conclusion was painfully obvious: the original owner was a goddamn love-obsessed idiot!
Su Tang was speechless.
Based on the original owner’s age, she should still be quite young.
Su Tang had seen photos of the original owner. Like the Female Lead, she was only in her early twenties, yet she was so eager to get married.
Seriously? This is the Apocalypse!
Having a child carelessly would be practically a crime.
Su Tang was mentally rehearsing how to gracefully and reasonably reject the woman before her. After all, the original owner had agreed to the marriage.
I could never marry a stranger.
Just then, a pair of warm hands gripped her wrist tightly. Bai Yanxing’s eyes radiated an indescribable sense of oppression.
Her gaze was utterly deranged, capable of instilling infinite terror in anyone who met it.
Chen Bin stumbled backward several steps.
“The fingerprints on this zombie’s finger are too faint. If it had been cut from a freshly killed zombie and then dried, the prints wouldn’t be this faded.”
“They should be as vivid as bl00d.”
Since the Apocalypse erupted, Bai Yanxing had killed at least a hundred zombies, if not a thousand.
“So, these ten fingers of yours were all cut from zombies that had been dead for a long time.”
Bai Yanxing’s tone remained steady as she spoke.
Chen Bin froze, stunned that her deception had been exposed so easily. Embarrassment quickly turned to anger.
“What right do you have to slander me with baseless accusations?!”
“The zombies I painstakingly killed are now just ‘easy pickings’ to you?!”
Bai Yanxing crossed her arms, showing no fear.
“Say what you want. The truth is, they’re fake.”
“I doubt Su Tang would want to marry a liar.”
Su Tang was equally stunned, never expecting the Female Lead to channel her inner Sherlock Holmes and come to her rescue.
He smirked.
“Exactly! If you have any doubts, why not have my dad authenticate them?”
