- Chapter 3 - What Are You Afraid Of? We're All Girls
Bai Yanxing pressed her lips together, looking somewhat embarrassed. She had never undressed in front of anyone before.
Now, she was being asked to perform such a bold and unrestrained act in front of someone she had only met a few times. It was quite awkward.
“What’s there to be afraid of? We’re all girls here,” Su Tang said, her finger lightly tapping Bai Yanxing’s shoulder, her tone slightly suggestive.
“Of course, you don’t have to wipe off the sweat if you don’t want to. It’ll just get a bit smelly, but I can tolerate it…” Su Tang’s voice took on a slightly aggrieved tone, as her room was impeccably clean, unlike the hastily constructed shelters built after the Apocalypse.
Bai Yanxing glanced around, realizing that if she went to sleep smelling sweaty, she would definitely be ostracized. She gritted her teeth.
“Fine, I’ll take it off.”
She considered asking Su Tang to turn away, but that felt too haughty, so she abandoned the idea.
Bai Yanxing’s body was weak and frail from the high fever, leaving her utterly drained.
Her fingers trembled slightly as she pulled down the zipper of her thin winter coat, revealing a somewhat worn woolen sweater beneath.
It had been two or three years since the Apocalypse began.
Those who had survived were the exceptionally lucky ones.
Su Tang’s eyes widened involuntarily. She had to admit, the Female Lead had an impressive figure—gracefully proportioned, with perfectly defined muscle tone.
A quintessential strong female protagonist.
Su Tang’s mouth watered at the sight.
How could such a woman be wasted on the saintly female lead?
In the later stages of the novel, the female lead’s excessive benevolence had led her to rescue countless ungrateful wretches, ultimately causing Bai Yanxing to fall into a horde of zombies.
If not for the Female Lead’s plot armor, she would have been torn to shreds.
Bai Yanxing, still somewhat embarrassed, clutched her discarded woolen sweater and turned her head away, strands of hair falling across her cheek.
“Could you hand me the towel? I can wipe myself.”
Su Tang knew she couldn’t push too hard, but since she intended to win Bai Yanxing’s favor, she needed to break through this barrier.
She slowly approached.
“Let me help you.”
Without waiting for a response, Su Tang began to act. She pressed a wrung-out towel against Bai Yanxing’s slender neck, gently wiping away the sweat that had beaded up from her fever.
The only sound in the room was the crackling of the firewood.
Bai Yanxing looked up at the person before him. She appeared to be only around twenty years old, her cheeks still retaining a hint of baby fat, a clear sign that she had never endured the hardships of the apocalypse.
She had been well cared for by her father.
With just a few words, the leader of this brutal Shelter had spared her parents.
How could a demon give birth to an angel? Bai Yanxing wondered.
The scalding towel wiped away the sweat and faint traces of bl00d from her skin. Bai Yanxing and her parents had always wandered on the fringes of the city.
While staying away from urban centers reduced the risk of zombie attacks, it also meant being cut off from medical supplies.
They couldn’t afford to leave.
At least in a major city, there were buildings to provide shelter from the wind and rain. In the wilderness, a moment’s carelessness could lead to being bitten by a zombified giant bear.
After wiping away the sweat, as night deepened, the Shelter grew quiet.
Su Tang’s room contained only a single bed, but it was a high-end Simmons mattress, incredibly comfortable to lie on.
For nearly the past few years, Bai Yanxing had been sleeping on the floor, rarely having the chance to sleep on a mattress. Naturally, she assumed she wouldn’t be able to sleep here either.
So, she went to the fireplace, grabbed the blanket lying nearby, and prepared to make do on the floor for the night.
Su Tang watched as Bai Yanxing took the blanket and prepared to settle down.
“What are you doing?” she couldn’t help but ask.
“Our family caused you a lot of trouble today. I’ll just sleep here,” Bai Yanxing replied, not expecting Su Tang to offer her the bed.
As the saying goes, How can one allow another to sleep soundly beside their own bed?
Rather than wait for Su Tang to subtly suggest it, Bai Yanxing decided to take the initiative and sleep on the floor.
“There’s no need for that,” Su Tang said, shaking her head gently. Looking at the person before her, she knew the Female Lead had an inherently sensitive and suspicious nature. After all, only such individuals could better survive in the Apocalypse.
“Just sleep next to me,” Su Tang said, lifting the covers and patting the bed with a seductive smile.
As the saying goes, to win someone over, you must capture their heart and stomach with meticulous care. This was the first step in her conquest plan.
Bai Yanxing, being such a golden opportunity, needed to be seized firmly.
Faced with the girl’s fervent invitation, Bai Yanxing was momentarily at a loss. Her index finger gently traced the pad of her thumb, a nervous habit she displayed when flustered or uncertain.
“But we’ve only known each other for less than a day…”
Seeing her hesitation, Su Tang stood up, slipped into her slippers, and approached Bai Yanxing. She extended her hand with a charming smile.
“Then let’s get acquainted. Hello, I’m Su Tang—Su from Su Shi, Tang from begonia.”
Bai Yanxing paused, then almost instinctively reached out and slowly clasped Su Tang’s hand.
“I’m Bai Yanxing.”
She offered no further explanation and was about to lie back down when Su Tang pulled her up.
Then, stumbling, she was pressed back onto the bed.
“If I tell you to sleep, you sleep. Sleeping on the floor is so uncomfortable—it’ll hurt your back.”
Su Tang’s spoiled and bossy tone truly made her sound like a pampered child. Bai Yanxing stopped struggling, realizing she genuinely intended to have her way.
He could retaliate, of course.
Lying back on the soft bed felt strange. It had been years since Bai Yanxing had slept on such a plush mattress.
He drifted into a hazy sleep.
He felt a pair of arms wrapped tightly around her waist, making it hard to breathe from the heat. But thanks to the medicine, her fever had gradually subsided, and she wasn’t as burning hot as he’d been the past few days.
When she woke up, Bai Yanxing finally realized who had been holding her so tightly in her sleep.
Of course, it was Su Tang.
The girl he’d only met the day before.
Her black hair was spread across the pillow, her hands resting on her abdomen, fingertips lightly tracing the lines of her abs.
The position was undeniably intimate.
Bai Yanxing’s lips twitched slightly.
He reached out, grasped her wrist, and gently pulled her hand away. But as soon as she released her, Su Tang wrapped her arms around her again.
What does this look like?
A pervert.
Bai Yanxing was even more speechless.
He decided to get up. Su Tang hugged empty air this time. After changing her clothes, Bai Yanxing turned back to tuck the blanket around her.
“Thank you, Su Tang,” she said earnestly. The fever had subsided after taking the medicine, and her body had returned to normal.
He could finally see her parents.
The Shelter had spared her parents’ lives on the condition that they both join the Shelter. As their daughter, Bai Yanxing would naturally have to join as well.
In the Apocalypse, firearms were extremely rare, and ammunition was scarce. Most people relied on knives, spears, and clubs.
But Bai Yanxing was different.
An old hunter in her parents’ former team had taught her archery. Before being bitten to death by a zombie, the hunter had given Bai Yanxing her traditional black bow.
This allowed her to start hunting missions at a young age, targeting both animals and zombies.
