- Transmigrating as a Cannon Fodder in the Apocalypse, Seducing the Mad Female Lead
- Chapter 31 - Deeply Shocked
Su Tang froze, stunned. She had browsed jewelry stores before, but she could never afford a pink diamond as large and dazzling as this one.
“Do you like it?”
“I found a counter near the mall with this ring. The moment I saw it, I knew it was perfect for you.”
Bai Yanxing’s lips curved into a smile, recalling the newspaper article she had seen. While she couldn’t bring herself to kneel on one knee—that was too embarrassing—he could still place the ring on her beloved’s finger.
He gently took the cool metal between her hands and slowly slid it onto her finger. The pink diamond ring embraced her ring finger, appearing intertwined and entwined.
“I love it,” Su Tang said, her voice choked with emotion. She admitted she had ulterior motives for pursuing the Female Lead, but she never expected to be reciprocated with such genuine and fervent love.
“That’s good.”
Su Tang naturally wouldn’t wear such a precious ring while bathing, even though such items had lost their value in the Apocalypse. But the sentiment behind the gift from the Female Lead was priceless.
Su Tang still wanted to keep the ring safe.
She left the bathroom, placed the ring on the nearby cabinet, and then returned.
It was best to shower quickly to conserve water.
Bai Yanxing had already started undressing. She was wearing a wool sweater underneath, likely because it was standard-issue rather than custom-fitted.
The sweater was loose, concealing even Bai Yanxing’s graceful figure.
When she finally took it off, her jade-like skin was revealed, captivatingly beautiful.
Su Tang’s ears flushed crimson as she lowered her head, afraid to look.
Her hands began to move slowly, while she mentally scolded herself:
Su Tang… Su Tang… Getting clean so we can watch a movie together is what matters! Don’t let your mind wander!
Just as she tossed her dirty clothes into the laundry basket, warm water began to cascade from the showerhead, soaking her ink-black hair.
“What are you thinking about?”
Bai Yanxing raised her hand, her slender fingers gently massaging her dark strands, her eyes earnest. She assumed she was thinking about the ring she had given her.
Su Tang expected Bai Yanxing to react like the girls at her school, jumping for joy even if the ring was just a cheap trinket from an online shopping site.
But Su Tang’s reaction was completely different.
She was overwhelmingly shy, like a freshly steamed sweet potato, its skin peeled back to reveal soft, tender flesh, sweet and sticky, still steaming gently.
“I didn’t expect you to give me a ring so soon,” Su Tang murmured, her voice barely audible.
“Because it suits you perfectly,” Bai Yanxing replied, turning off the shower and carefully massaging her hair.
“I know what giving a ring means, Su Tang. I’m an adult. I understand the consequences of my actions.”
“You kissed me, and I responded.”
“Isn’t that a good thing?”
It was only at that moment that Su Tang truly realized she hadn’t made a mistake by clinging to the Female Lead’s coattails. Bai Yanxing’s character was genuinely good.
No wonder she repeatedly forgave the Female Lead’s saintly behavior in the novel, even after being repeatedly betrayed and manipulated.
After her shower, Su Tang felt as if her body was still radiating heat.
Since the television couldn’t connect to a signal, they only needed to plug in the DVD player. Bai Yanxing rummaged around and thankfully found a compatible cable.
The two had spent considerable effort finding a television that matched the DVD player in the store.
The moment both the DVD player and television lit up, they instinctively held their breath. Bai Yanxing recalled the awe she had felt the last time she witnessed the miracle of electricity—when the Hydroelectric Dam powered the Base.
With Su Jianyu’s command, the once dim and desolate Base, illuminated only by kerosene lamps and campfires, instantly blazed with light.
In an instant, it felt more human.
Yet the feeling of the television and DVD player lighting up was entirely different.
“What DVD do you want to watch?” Bai Yanxing asked.
He was wearing only a tank top, her arms lean and muscular. If you pressed firmly, you could feel the evenly toned muscles beneath.
The Female Lead wasn’t a musclebound woman, but after years of fighting zombies, she certainly wasn’t the frail, delicate figure from ancient romance novels, coughing with every step.
The firewood in the fireplace continued to burn, warming the room.
Su Tang rummaged through her backpack and pulled out the DVDs she had secretly taken during the day. The slightly yellowed, old-fashioned plastic cases slid out of the bag and landed on the soft bed.
Three of them were horror movies.
A masked woman leaned against a door, chainsaw in hand, her body drenched in bl00d.
A disheveled woman crawled out of a television screen.
And a dilapidated castle swarmed with bats fleeing from its crumbling roof.
Bai Yanxing: ……
It seemed there was no other choice. Su Tang’s preferences were crystal clear. Just as she was about to pick up the least terrifying-looking one, the bat-themed castle, her gaze suddenly shifted.
Bai Yanxing noticed another DVD.
A lush green forest, two women running through it like birds soaring toward the horizon.
“What’s this?”
To be honest, Bai Yanxing wasn’t afraid of horror movies. After all, she could calmly face even zombies—creatures far more repulsive than anything in horror films.
But if the person beside her wanted to watch it, she was willing to spend an hour or two in this apocalyptic world, just to be with her.
Even a single moment together was precious beyond measure.
“A romance movie,” Su Tang replied, propping herself up on one hand against the soft bed. Frost patterns bloomed on the windowpane, obscured by curtains. Outside, the wind howled, punctuated by occasional gunshots.
And the zombies hanging on the electrified fence, crackling and sizzling.
“Do you want to watch it?” Su Tang asked, her breath as fragrant as orchids, almost like a bewitching succubus.
“What kind of romance movie is it?” Bai Yanxing asked, puzzled. To be honest, before the apocalypse, she had been too busy studying, immersed in books, to pay much attention to entertainment or films.
Naturally, she didn’t recognize the movie.
“It’s like the book I gave you,” Su Tang said, pressing the disc into Bai Yanxing’s hand and gently nudging her waist. “Go put it in. You’ll understand when you see it.”
Bai Yanxing didn’t refuse. She stood up, her bare feet sinking into the plush carpet, and opened the DVD player, inserting the disc.
After a few minutes, the film’s production and distribution credits slowly began to appear on the screen.
Bai Yanxing returned to the bed, and the two leaned against each other. Su Tang turned off the lights, leaving only the faint blue glow of the LCD screen illuminating their faces.
Bai Yanxing watched intently, but when she saw two women embracing, her ears couldn’t help but flush slightly. Her fingers unconsciously drifted to her lips.
So, this is how it can be…
His pupils constricted slightly, Bai Yanxing was deeply shaken.
