Transmigrating into a Wasteland Cannon Fodder Slag A [GL Yuri] - Chapter 1
“Stop playing dead!!!”
“If you screw up what the boss told you to do, you’ll be zombie feed before long!”
A splitting pain shot through Yan An’s head, sharp and endless, as if thousands of needles were being driven straight into her skull.
The next second, a rush of foreign memories poured into her mind along with a novel, though only the first ten chapters were unlocked.
She grit her teeth through the agony, forcing herself to accept the sudden flood of information. It took quite a while before she pieced together where she was.
Transmigration?
The words surfaced in her mind. She had been a university student in the 21st century, someone who loved wilderness survival. Just like the year before, she had signed up for an overseas survival trek during summer break.
The goal: survive barehanded for a week in the rainforest. Nothing but the clothes on her back and a flare gun for emergencies.
On the night before her victory, she had gone to sleep exhausted, only to wake up here—in the body of a cannon-fodder scum Alpha from some apocalyptic novel.
Yan An barely had time to sort through the new memories before the shouting in her ear forced her eyes open.
Standing in front of her was a sloppy man in a grimy floral shirt, barking orders like he owned the place.
When she looked up at him, he sneered and jabbed a finger in her face. “What are you staring at? You’d better hurry up and do what the boss told you. Otherwise—”
Before he could finish, he lifted his foot, ready to kick her.
But Yan An’s hand shot out, catching his shin mid-swing. With a sharp twist and shove, she slammed him to the ground.
“Ahhh!” The man’s scream echoed through the room. He scrambled back to his feet, eyes wide in disbelief. “Y-You actually dared to hit me?!”
He raised his foot again, but halfway up, the memory of her throw-down froze him. He jerked his leg back, his courage faltering.
Her gaze was too sharp, too cold. It was the look of a predator locking onto its prey, the kind that promised no escape.
Panic flickered across his face. He tried to cover it with threats. “Damn b1tch, what are you acting so tough for? Don’t forget, you’re about to sell your girlfriend to the boss. Once he’s tired of her, she’s ours. I’ll make sure you wear a nice, bright green hat!”
Yan An snatched up a loose brick, rose to her feet, and hurled it with all her strength.
The man spun to run, but the brick still smashed into his back. He crumpled with another shriek.
Figures. Bully the weak, cower before the strong. The original body had been pathetic, and that’s why trash like him dared to trample her.
They were all underlings. Who the hell was higher than who?
Yan An pressed a hand to her stomach, wincing. No wonder it hurt so much that bastard had kicked her hard.
Still, she wasn’t worried about him tattling. The so-called “boss” of this compound couldn’t care less about small fry squabbles. If someone died, well—one less mouth to feed.
And in the apocalypse, food was the most precious thing of all.
But as she sifted through the fragments of memory, the picture became clear. Why the original had been labeled a cannon-fodder slag Alpha.
Just like her, the girl had once been a university student. But in this world, the apocalypse had broken out a month earlier, zombies sweeping across the globe.
The original had fled into this factory compound with her girlfriend, a girl named Gu Xia—the novel’s heroine.
Inside, some survivors awakened supernatural powers, including the man who crowned himself the compound’s leader.
He set his sights on Gu Xia’s looks and pressured the original to drug her.
The flunky just now had been the one delivering the drug. The original, spineless and stammering, ended up getting kicked half to death. She’d smacked her head against the wall… and when she blacked out, Yan An had taken over.
The pathetic girl’s final regret? That the farthest she’d ever gotten with her girlfriend was holding hands.
Yan An rolled her eyes. Unbelievable.
And that was only the beginning.
The original grew worse in the novel was selling out her girlfriend for food, letting the compound leader close in on her. If not for Gu Xia’s sharp instincts, she would’ve fallen long before the zombies overran the gates.
When the horde broke through, the original pushed Gu Xia straight into the pack to buy herself time.
But in that instant, Gu Xia awakened her powers, slaughtered the zombies, and tied the scum Alpha to a car bumper that’s dragging her along the road as the undead feasted on her piece by piece.
Not a bone left intact.
A miserable end but well earned.
Yan An’s headache flared again. She finally understood why the novel only had ten unlocked chapters. The story was long, but this slag A only lasted ten.
She glanced at the title: The Apocalypse: The Heroine Awakens Again and Again, Dominating the World.
A standard female-protagonist powerhouse story.
According to the blurb, Gu Xia would go on to awaken not just one ability, but many—eventually standing at the very top of the world.
And her? She was cornered on both sides. In this world, only ability users had a shot at survival—let alone a comfortable life.
So what about her? Did she have powers?
Yan An lifted her hand, running through common abilities in her mind. Nothing happened.
She didn’t notice that aside from the dull ache in her head, the pain from the earlier kicks had already vanished—no bruises left behind.
With a helpless shake of her head, she sighed. Looked like she’d have to rely on the skills she did have—boxing, sanda, and years of wilderness survival.
It wasn’t like she’d never faced a tiger before. She hadn’t fought it head-on, but she’d still made it out alive.
This time, she’d just have to see if she could pull off another miracle.
Back in her “room”, if one could call it that. She found nothing more than a quality-control shack: a folding cot, a row of cabinets, some inspection tools, and a few chairs.
At least it wasn’t a chemical factory. Otherwise, she might’ve been poisoned already.
There wasn’t even a blanket. Good thing it was summer, or she would’ve frozen to death.
Her once-white shirt had long turned gray.
Clearly, she needed to do more than just deal with the compound leader. She’d also have to start stockpiling supplies.
Yesterday, the original had eaten a single piece of bread. That was it. She’d lived off water since.
And that bread? Supposed to be split between two people, but she’d eaten it alone. Which meant Gu Xia… had probably gone two days without food.
Wait—where was Gu Xia now? Why wasn’t she in the room?
For someone without awakened powers, stepping outside the compound was basically suicide.
Just then, the door creaked open, and a thin figure stepped inside.
Gu Xia?
Yan An’s breath caught. She really was beautiful and striking at first glance.
Her face was finely sculpted, every feature sharp yet soft, carrying both elegance and a quiet strength. She was radiant, refined, and unshaken even by hardship, her air of nobility impossible to hide.
Her posture was tall and steady, carrying the air of an elegant beauty—poised, unhurried, almost as if she were at home rather than trapped inside a compound surrounded by zombies.
And beside her… a slag Alpha who could sell her off at any moment.
A classical beauty, Yan An thought to herself, the words surfacing unbidden.
“Did you get any food?” Gu Xia asked, her cool voice edged with a faint rasp—probably from going too long without water.
Yan An pulled a small pack of crackers from her pocket and handed it over. “Only this.”
It was the meager ration the original had traded for—agreeing to slip Gu Xia a drug in exchange for this one pitiful bag of food.
Gu Xia’s brows lifted slightly as she looked at the crackers, clear surprise flickering across her face.
The original had never once shared. More than once, she’d devoured everything herself. And now she was suddenly handing food back?
Yan An felt awkward under her gaze, instantly realizing the reason behind that surprise.
But she also knew something else—the truth. Gu Xia had overheard the deal the original struck with the compound leader. This calm acceptance of food was just an act.
If Gu Xia had already awakened her powers, she would’ve likely killed her first.
And judging by the timeline… that awakening wasn’t far off.
