Transmigrating into a Wasteland Cannon Fodder Slag A [GL Yuri] - Chapter 13
Yan An didn’t think she was being childish at all. She chuckled lightly.
“Anger makes people lose their minds.”
After running for his life all night, Chen Hao must’ve been starving with no food and no water. Seeing her act like this only made him angrier, and now his rage had boiled over completely.
He grabbed a rock from who-knows-where and hurled it at the door. With a loud bang, cracks spread across the glass.
Thankfully, it was tempered glass. The gas station hadn’t cut corners on that at least. It was strong enough to hold.
“Done eating?” Yan An turned to Gu Xia, who had just finished another piece of bread and was sipping some water.
When Gu Xia nodded, Yan An unlocked the door. The handle was still wrapped tight with tape, so the door wouldn’t budge easily, but if Chen Hao kept forcing it, it would eventually give.
Yan An flashed her a smile.
“In a moment, I’ll keep Chen Hao busy. You go start the car.”
“We could wait,” Gu Xia said quickly. “Wait until night when he falls asleep, or even for a few days. Once he’s hungry enough, he’ll have to leave.”
Would Chen Hao really sit out there starving, just to keep watch over them?
Yan An only laughed. “Corner a dog, and it’ll jump the wall.”
She leaned casually against the wall and continued, “Once, there was a woman lost in the wild. A patrol wolf soldier found her, and she killed him. But his death cry drew the whole pack.”
“Chen Hao may be one man, but he can do plenty and he can bring plenty of zombies too.”
Even if Chen Hao couldn’t break in, if a horde swarmed… A few zombies couldn’t crack tempered glass, but what about hundreds? Thousands?
“A turtle in a jar. That’s what we’ll be.”
Yan An’s words shattered Gu Xia’s last hope. She knew it too. They only had one option now: fight their way out.
It was just… Chen Hao had killed so many, left such a shadow over the survivors in that factory.
If dozens had rushed him at once, his ice ability was only F-rank, after all he would’ve eventually run dry.
But no one wanted to be the first to stand up. Easier to play lackey than to risk your life.
Gu Xia looked at Chen Hao’s crazed figure outside, her grip tightening on the fruit knife in her hand.
“Then let’s go. I won’t slow you down.”
“What are you talking about? I never thought you would.”
Yan An’s lips curved in a smile. She was waiting for Chen Hao to force the door.
And then, bang! The door burst open.
The noise drew nearby zombies, who staggered toward them at once.
Slow as they were, Chen Hao didn’t care. He immediately unleashed his ice ability.
Yan An swung her axe down, only for it and her hand to be instantly coated in frost. The ice crackled harshly, sending pain shooting up her arm, as if her bones might shatter.
That was the terror of ice. Freeze first, then break.
Luckily, Chen Hao’s ability was only F-rank. Otherwise, she’d already be an ice statue.
Yan An sneered and kicked him hard, sending him sprawling outside.
“Go!”
She barked the word, then darted toward him.
Chen Hao thrust out a hand, frost blooming across his palm. One touch, and she’d be frozen solid.
With one hand already stiff from frostbite, if she lost another, it would be over.
Just then, a zombie lunged at Chen Hao. Instinct drove it—it didn’t care about his powers.
Before it could tackle him, his frosted palm pressed against it. Instantly, the creature turned into an ice sculpture.
So that was it, his power could freeze limbs from a distance, but a direct touch froze an entire body.
Yan An’s eyes hardened. She slipped past another zombie’s claw.
Meanwhile, Gu Xia was being chased by two more. Fortunately, she was quick, staying just ahead of them.
But when she turned a corner, another zombie staggered out, blocking her path. She had no choice. She’d have to fight.
Yan An was ready to strike Chen Hao while he was distracted, but the moment she saw Gu Xia trapped, she abandoned him without hesitation and sprinted toward her.
Gu Xia only had a fruit knife. With nimble footwork, she barely dodged a swipe, her blade flashing in vain.
And the zombies kept coming. Yesterday’s passing cars must’ve drawn them closer.
Glancing around, she saw at least a dozen more staggering toward them from the distance.
She had to take these three down fast, otherwise, more would swarm her.
But the knife was too short. She didn’t dare get close enough to stab.
So, imitating Yan An, she lashed out with her foot instead, kicking the nearest zombie back to buy herself some space.
Yan An’s skills were sharp. She could create space, then turn back to finish her target. But Gu Xia? She knew her own limits. Gaining distance only meant one thing for her: run.
Yet the moment her kick landed, reality hit her like a brick.
The zombie’s body was as solid as iron, completely unmoved.
How on earth did Yan An manage to send one flying with just a kick?
Her own foot barely made an impact, and instead, the recoil sent her sprawling onto the ground.
All three zombies lunged at once. Just as Gu Xia thought it was over, a figure stepped in front of her. With a few swift moves, Yan An sent the zombies flying back.
She reached down to haul her up, her voice teasing as it brushed past Gu Xia’s ear.
“Senior Guzi, lying on the ground like this? What, waiting for me to pick you up?”
Gu Xia’s cheeks heated in embarrassment. From so far away, she’d still needed Yan An to save her. She scrambled up and hurried toward the car.
Now wasn’t the time for words. She had to get the engine running and drive them out of here.
Yan An’s arm was still bound to the axe by frost, but her hand itself was fine. With her healing ability, real frostbite was nearly impossible.
As for the ice coating the axe, it give her a bit of time, and she had shatter it easily.
But neither Chen Hao nor the zombies intended to give her that time. Breaking free from the horde, Chen Hao came charging again.
“Yan An, you worthless piece of trash! You dared to trick me and even led the zombies to destroy my factory!”
In his hand, he swung the frozen leg of a zombie, bellowing as he ran, “If I hadn’t dug myself a doghole beforehand, I’d have never escaped!”
“When I crawled through that hole, I swore I’d tear you to pieces and smash you into chunks!”
He raged like a madman, his howls echoing, spurring the surrounding zombies into a frenzy. Their slow shuffle turned into a hungry sprint.
Yan An planted herself between him and Gu Xia. With her left hand, she snatched up a fuel pump, lashing it at a zombie, before swinging it around and dousing Chen Hao with gasoline.
She even sprayed a few nearby zombies for good measure, then calmly pulled out a lighter.
Chen Hao froze mid-step, wiping the slick gasoline off his arms as the zombies reeled in confusion.
“Chen Hao,” Yan An mocked with a sharp grin, “gasoline, a lighter… at a gas station. Exciting enough for you?”
His whole body stiffened, eyes locking on the lighter in her hand. For a moment, he nearly laughed from rage.
It didn’t matter that he stayed silent, her goal was achieved.
Gu Xia seized the chance to start the car. Just as she moved to swing the door open, Chen Hao lunged again.
“B1tch, I bet you won’t dare.”
And he was right, she valued her life. She really wouldn’t.
So, it would have to come down to brute force. Yan An tore the axe free from the ice, her hand unscathed thanks to her ability.
One man swung a zombie’s leg, the other a frost-coated axe. They clashed head-on.
After several blows, Chen Hao unleashed his ice again, freezing Yan An’s leg, locking her in place.
He batted aside another zombie, then lifted the stiff leg in his hand. With all his strength, he swung it down at her.
If it hit, she’d lose an arm or worse, a leg.
But just then, headlights flared. A car barreled through, slamming into Chen Hao with a deafening crash. He was sent flying, smashing against the convenience store wall before the vehicle screeched to a halt.
At the wheel, it was Gu Xia.
Damn. What a badass woman.
