Transmigrating into a Wasteland Cannon Fodder Slag A [GL Yuri] - Chapter 25
Gu Xia ignored Yan An. They had been together for quite some time and had been through so many things together. If she was fussy about it, she would have been pissed to death.
I don’t mind Yan An saying these things, of course. In the past, Yan An had talked about wanting to meet her parents, and Gu Xia had always refused. But the previous Yan An would react with a look of inferiority, as if she wasn’t good enough for her, or she would just look down and stay silent. It made Gu Xia feel like she was being looked down upon, but now she knows that was a form of manipulation. It was a way to bind her morally, to rush their relationship, get married quickly, and become an heir to her family’s fortune.
The current Yan An is completely different. She’s smart and decisive. She can stay calm even when surrounded by zombies and is willing to go to the city center and accompany her home out of concern. A person can’t change that drastically all of a sudden unless they’re not the same person. Gu Xia had her suspicions, though she wasn’t certain. But for now, they were a good team, working well together. They trusted each other and had each other’s backs, which was a rare thing to find in this apocalypse.
“Let’s go upstairs,” Gu Xia said. Her parents had left the flying car for her, and with a range of 500 kilometers, it would be enough to get them from Pingzhou City to Pingzhou Island and back.
Yan An was also interested in the flying car. Before she transmigrated, she had seen a video that said flying vehicles were being tested with good results and were expected to be on the market within two years. This world had more advanced technology, and flying cars were already in use. However, they were expensive and required a permit and a flight path to operate. It was a bit of a hassle, but it was a lifesaver in traffic and, in their case, an invaluable asset when the ground was crawling with zombies.
“Do you know anything about machines?” Gu Xia asked, turning to her.
Yan An understood immediately that Gu Xia wanted her to check if the car was in working order. “Let me see.” After a quick inspection, she found nothing wrong with it. “Should we leave now?” They should go before it gets dark. At night, the flying car’s lights would make them a huge target.
Gu Xia turned and walked downstairs. “Let’s wash up and go to sleep.”
Oh, right. They were home. It would be good to get a proper wash and a good night’s sleep before they started their journey, as they wouldn’t have time to sleep soundly on the road.
“Where do I sleep? With you?” Yan An asked innocently, catching up with Gu Xia. She knew they were both women, and with her neutral feelings on the ABO dynamic, she saw no reason why two women couldn’t share a bed. She didn’t like men, but she had never dated a woman before, and Gu Xia was like a girlfriend who had fallen from the sky.
Gu Xia was speechless for a moment. After a while, she said, “You can sleep in a guest room.” There were so many rooms in the house; there was more than one guest room.
Yan An shrugged. “Then I want the guest room closest to you.” She emphasized the words “guest room,” and Gu Xia almost rolled her eyes.
“Then you can have my sister’s room,” Gu Xia said. Her and her sister’s rooms were next to each other.
“You have a sister?” Yan An asked, surprised.
“Yes,” Gu Xia replied.
“Do you have any family photos? I want to recognize everyone so I can address them properly when we meet.” Yan An’s questions kept coming. She was undeniably a chatterbox.
Although Gu Xia found her talkative, she wasn’t annoyed. Yan An’s words were meant to comfort her, to tell her that she would see her family again. Yan An seemed to have a knack for sensing other people’s emotions. She knew that Gu Xia was worried about her family and feared she might never see them again. Yan An was clearly trying to reassure her.
“Thank you,” Gu Xia said softly, pointing to the room beside them before walking into her own.
Yan An smiled, pushed the door open, and walked in. The room belonged to a cute little girl. It was decorated in pink, with a teddy bear on the bed and many dolls in a glass cabinet. A blue princess dress was thrown on the bed, probably left behind in the rush to escape.
Yan An didn’t start making the bed right away. She went straight to the bathroom to wash up before touching anything in the room. It had been days since she had a good shower, and the water was surprisingly hot. Warm water poured over her head, and she saw shampoo, body wash, a toothbrush, and toothpaste next to the shower. She couldn’t use the children’s toiletries, of course, but luckily, she had her own.
After her shower, feeling refreshed, Yan An was in a better mood. She knew this might be her last hot shower until they reached a safe zone, and she was tempted to take another one. But she felt so relaxed that all she wanted to do was lie in bed and sleep.
Suddenly, the door to the room opened.
Yan An blinked. Gu Xia froze.
“Why aren’t you wearing clothes?” Gu Xia immediately turned around.
“How was I supposed to know you’d walk in?” Yan An retorted. “This is a kid’s room. What kind of clothes do you think I can wear?” She only had her underwear and her windbreaker in her space. Was she supposed to sleep in that? Yan An felt wronged and pulled the blanket over herself. She was the one who was at a disadvantage.
“I’m in bed now. What do you need?”
Gu Xia turned back around and placed a nightgown on the bed. “I brought you some clothes.” Seeing Gu Xia’s ears turn red, Yan An cleared her throat. “Uh, thanks.”
“Get some rest. We’re leaving early tomorrow,” Gu Xia said. She didn’t want to leave home, either. She felt a certain comfort and relief being in a familiar place. But she knew that, as she and Fang Qiang had discussed, the government could level Pingzhou City with a missile at any moment. Staying was just waiting for death. Besides, her family had already left, and she had to find them.
Yan An smiled at Gu Xia’s retreating back. “Good night.”
Gu Xia paused with her hand on the door, then turned back. “Good night.”
For Yan An, Gu Xia was the only person she could trust in this new world. Even though she hadn’t read the whole novel, she knew that the main character would have her own principles. After fighting alongside Gu Xia for the past few days, she knew that beneath her cold exterior was a kind heart. The pain and sadness in Gu Xia’s eyes when she saw the bloody puppy were not feigned. Gu Xia was aware of her limitations and could only suppress her emotions. She was kind but not blindly so, and she was incredibly rational. These traits made her a great partner.
Despite being surrounded by zombies and in a dangerous situation, Yan An didn’t regret coming back with Gu Xia.
