Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot (GL) - Chapter 2
The car circled back and reversed into the parking spot at an astonishing speed, pulling up neatly beside Su Jing’s vehicle. The entire maneuver was executed with such precision and efficiency that even Su Jing, who had been waiting to close Jiang Chi’s car door, was taken aback.
Jiang Chi finally understood what that strange sensation had been it was the feeling of liberation, of freedom!
At this very moment, she could no longer sense the inexplicable, mysterious force that had enveloped her since she first woke up. Reaching out, she pinched Su Jing’s thigh hard.
“Ah!” Su Jing yelped in pain, stumbling back a couple of steps as he stared in disbelief at Jiang Chi, who was still half-seated in the car.
It was real! She could truly control her body freely now!
Jiang Chi smirked without a hint of remorse. “Oops, sorry, Su Jing gege. I thought it was my own leg.”
Su Jing’s grip on the car window tightened, but he said nothing, waiting for her to fully settle inside so he could close the door. To his surprise, instead of moving in, Jiang Chi stepped out of the car entirely.
Puzzled, he turned around, about to speak, when click the door of the adjacent car opened. The first thing that caught his eye was a pair of long legs wrapped in a flowing blue dress. Soon after, the owner of those legs emerged, her head tilting out of the car frame. Jet-black curls cascaded over her chest, her flawless porcelain skin unblemished even under the harsh parking lot lights. Her lashes lowered slightly, veiling the emotions in her eyes, while a tiny beauty mark near the corner of her eye made her look like she had stepped straight out of a painting.
Jiang Chi: A total bombshell!
Su Jing: W-Wen Wen?
Both of them stared openly as Wen Wen stepped out of the car, yet she paid them no attention, as if they were invisible.
For a moment, the air seemed to freeze.
Then Wen Wen shut the car door.
Su Jing was the first to react, quickly stepping forward to greet her. “Professor Wen, what a coincidence running into you here.”
Wen Wen glanced at him and responded with a faint “Hmm.”
Just as she was about to walk away, a figure darted in front of her, blocking her path. Wen Wen arched a delicate brow.
Jiang Chi flashed her a sweet smile, about to speak, but Su Jing abruptly grabbed her wrist and pulled her behind him.
Assuming Jiang Chi was trying to stir trouble, Su Jing whispered a warning, “Don’t cause a scene,” before turning back to Wen Wen with an ingratiating smile. “Professor Wen, what brings you here? Is there anything I can help with?”
Wen Wen’s gaze flickered to their intertwined hands before lifting her eyes, cold and indifferent. “None of your business,” she stated flatly.
She moved to leave, but someone suddenly seized her wrist.
Annoyed, Wen Wen turned back only to find Jiang Chi holding onto her. The irritation in her expression flickered, replaced briefly by surprise.
Noticing the shift, Su Jing immediately tried to pull Jiang Chi back. After all, Jiang Chi had once publicly clashed with this A-list actress in defense of him, and the incident was widely known.
In fact, he had once tried to win Wen Wen’s favor, exerting all his charm, but she remained completely indifferent and often seemed impatient. Over time, he stopped making a fool of himself, yet he still didn’t want to miss any chance to get close to her. After all, Wen Wen wasn’t just a top-tier actress in the entertainment industry, any topic involving her could easily go viral. She was also the CEO and sole heir of the Wen Group, with an incredibly powerful background.
Jiang Chi’s family background was similar to Wen Wen’s, but in terms of status in the entertainment industry, Jiang Chi was a minor celebrity at best, nowhere near Wen Wen’s level.
Anyone with eyes could see the difference between the two.
The reason he wanted to pull Jiang Chi aside was simply to prevent her from angering Wen Wen at least not in front of him. Moreover, from Jiang Chi’s perspective, his action would surely seem like protection, earning him some goodwill.
Killing two birds with one stone was something he was always happy to do.
Before achieving his goal, he needed to bind Jiang Chi’s heart to his the tighter, the better.
Unexpectedly, Jiang Chi was the one who shook off his hand first, generously saying, “You should take Bai Yuetong home now. Don’t worry about me.”
Su Jing’s heart skipped a beat, and he quickly grabbed Jiang Chi’s hand again, gazing at her affectionately. “Baby, are you upset? Fine, I won’t take her back. I’ll have an assistant do it. I’ll take you home instead, okay?”
Jiang Chi rolled her eyes internally. So he knew he could have someone else take Bai Yuetong home after all. But she didn’t have time to waste on him now, the stunning beauty had already slipped away from her grasp.
With every step Wen Wen took away from her, Jiang Chi could feel that mysterious force controlling her creeping back. At this moment, she was certain: the key to breaking free from the plot’s control was Wen Wen herself, not Wen Wen’s car.
Moreover, there was a distance requirement to escape the plot’s influence!
She shoved Su Jing’s hand away and chased after Wen Wen, warning him, “Don’t follow me, or I’ll get angry! Hurry up and take Bai Yuetong home.”
Su Jing tried to grab her hand again, wanting to say something, but caught only air. He didn’t dare follow.
Catching up to Wen Wen, Jiang Chi called out sweetly, “Pretty sister, I—”
Before she could finish, Wen Wen cut her off. “No gym memberships, no insurance, no credit cards.”
Jiang Chi: “…”
Did she look like she was selling those?
“No, I’m not a salesperson,” Jiang Chi said, then continued with an embarrassed expression, “I just wanted to get to know you. In all my life, I’ve never met someone as beautiful as you.”
Hearing this, Wen Wen stopped in her tracks.
Jiang Chi stopped too. She was slightly taller than Wen Wen and looked down at her, while Wen Wen stared back unblinkingly, as if searching for something in her face.
Time seemed to freeze between them.
After what felt like an eternity, Wen Wen was the first to look away. Without a word, she turned and left.
Jiang Chi was stunned for half a second before snapping back to reality and quickly following. With utmost sincerity, she asked, “What’s wrong, pretty sister? Am I not good-looking enough to be your friend? What kind of look do you like? I have money, I can get plastic surgery!”
The two walked to the elevator, which hadn’t arrived yet. Jiang Chi stood close beside her, waiting shoulder to shoulder.
Wen Wen took a few steps to the side, putting distance between them, and stared straight at the changing numbers on the elevator display. “Please maintain a comfortable social distance and stay away from me.”
Jiang Chi, confused, moved closer again. “Pretty sister, do you know me? You seem to really dislike me.”
Wen Wen glanced at her but didn’t respond.
A thought flashed through her mind she suddenly remembered that in the drama, aside from being the sole heir of the Jiang Corporation, she was also an infamous D-list celebrity in the entertainment industry…
The gossip accounts online had written some truly “impressive” stories about her.
Realizing the reason, Jiang Chi tried to explain, “Pretty sister, you know what they say don’t judge someone based on others’ words. You must’ve heard about me from all those ridiculous rumors online, right?”
“I promise you, I’m nothing like what’s said online. If you befriend me, you definitely won’t regret knowing me!”
“My family is loaded this hotel is ours. If we become friends, you can stay here as long as you want, completely free!”
After all that, Wen Wen finally turned her head to look at her. Thinking she’d made some progress, Jiang Chi was about to press her advantage when Wen Wen, expression unchanged, simply uttered a few flat words: “Stay away from me.”
Just then, the elevator dinged, and the doors opened.
Wen Wen stepped in first. Undeterred by her coldness, Jiang Chi followed, catching sight of the bruise on her forehead in the elevator mirror. Her eyes darted around as a new plan formed in her mind.
If the “money power” approach didn’t work, she’d have to switch tactics.
Jiang Chi brushed her bangs aside and leaned in close to Wen Wen. “Pretty sister, look at me, I’m bleeding here. It hurts so much. Do you have any medicine to help? You’re as beautiful as a flower, you wouldn’t let another pretty flower wither beside you, would you? If my face gets ruined, I might as well die, wuwuwu…”
“Pretty sister, please help me, okay? My head hurts so bad, wuwuwu…”
She propped her head up with a hand, putting on a convincing act of being on the verge of collapse.
Wen Wen frowned slightly at the bl00d on her forehead but only took two cold steps back, her face still blank. “You just said this hotel is yours?”
Jiang Chi’s eyes lit up. “Yes, yes!”
Wen Wen: “In that case, I’m sure any employee here would be happy to assist you. Please stop bothering me.”
Jiang Chi stood frozen for about a minute, pouting pitifully before obediently retreating to the corner of the elevator. She stood quietly, occasionally casting Wen Wen a glance with her dark, dewy eyes, a picture of silent misery, afraid of being disliked.
The elevator reached the 28th floor, and the doors slid open. Jiang Chi seized the chance to steal a few more longing looks at Wen Wen, hoping for a sudden burst of kindness. But even as the doors began to close, the other woman showed no reaction.
The hotel had 30 floors above ground, and Jiang Chi had her own suite on the top level. Now she debated should she give up for now and return to her room, or should she recklessly follow her out?
The moment for thought lasted only a few seconds. Before the elevator doors fully closed, Jiang Chi dashed out in quick strides, following closely behind Wen Wen like a discarded, homeless puppy.
Unfortunately, the beautiful owner showed no intention of paying attention to the stray.
Wen Wen reached her room, swiped her card, and walked straight in without the slightest hesitation not even a glance back.
Faced with the locked door, Jiang Chi didn’t leave immediately. Instead, she pinched her chin and paced back and forth in front of it. What she didn’t know was that the person inside hadn’t walked away either she stood before the surveillance screen, watching the scene outside.
After much deliberation, Jiang Chi finally made her decision,
Scratch the door!
Just like a pampered pet who, after angering its owner, could only cling and nuzzle for forgiveness. If the owner locked herself away, the only option was to scratch at the door for attention but not too hard, lest it provoke even greater displeasure.
Jiang Chi had never considered herself the type to chase after cold indifference. Since childhood, if she wanted the moon, she’d never settle for the stars. Her family had coddled her like a princess, indulging her willfulness. Even those who disliked her never dared show her any disrespect, out of deference to her family.
Wen Wen was undoubtedly the first person to repeatedly shut her out.
She had never imagined that the first person she willingly set aside her pride and dignity to please would treat her with such disregard!
But who could blame her? Wen Wen was the one who could save her life!
What was dignity compared to survival?
She had always said that if someone could save her, she’d worship them like an ancestor. This was nothing in comparison!
The faint scratching sounds continued for a while before Wen Wen, standing behind the door, sighed softly and turned away.
Jiang Chi pressed her forehead against the door, her slender fingers restlessly poking and scratching at its surface.
She counted down silently in her heart once she reached zero, she’d leave and try again tomorrow.
87… 86…
Before she could finish counting, a soft click sounded. The door opened.
Jiang Chi straightened instantly, her dark eyes brightening as if they could pierce through any emotion in the world. But in the next second, those gleaming eyes blinked, instantly turning pitiful, her lips puckering slightly as if tears might spill any moment.
Wen Wen avoided her gaze and shoved a first-aid kit into her arms. “Take it and treat yourself. Don’t stand there, I don’t need a door guardian.”
She moved to close the door, but Jiang Chi swiftly wedged her foot in the gap.
“Pretty sister,” she bargained, “since you’re already being so kind, why not help me treat my wounds? I’ve never used these things before, what if I mess up and ruin my face? Please? I’ll leave right after!”
