Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot (GL) - Chapter 3
Jiang Chi carried the first aid kit back to the penthouse, swiped her card to enter, placed the kit on the sofa by the bed, and then collapsed straight onto the mattress, lying flat on her back.
“If you don’t know how to use it, surely you can read Chinese, right? There are instructions inside.”
Wen Wen’s earlier words replayed in her mind like a broken record. Jiang Chi raised a hand to pinch the bridge of her nose.
She hadn’t done much today, yet she felt inexplicably exhausted.
She had essentially learned the ending of her life in advance, yet she was powerless to change it. Was this the fatigue of helplessness…?
Jiang Chi rolled over on the bed and spotted the first aid kit nearby.
In an instant, she sat bolt upright, grabbed the kit, and clutched it tightly in her hands, her expression brimming with determination.
So what if it was about befriending an aloof beauty? She refused to believe she couldn’t win over that stunning woman!
Jiang Chi picked up her phone and searched for the treatments her wound required, then opened the first aid kit to compare and locate the corresponding medications. She carefully read each instruction manual one by one, mimicking the steps to tend to her face.
The desire for beauty is universal especially for those already beautiful. So, she had to take good care of her face.
She examined the haphazardly wrapped gauze in the mirror, yet her expression was one of satisfaction.
“It’s a bit crude, but as long as it works!”
Jiang Chi returned to the edge of the bed and sat down, picking up her phone again. She opened the search bar.
About that stunning woman, she had only heard Su Jing call her “Teacher Wen,” which clearly meant the beauty was also a celebrity.
With looks like hers, she couldn’t possibly be some obscure nobody, right…?
Jiang Chi typed “female celebrities surnamed Wen” into the search bar. The page quickly loaded an image it was none other than the life-saving beauty, Wen! Next to the photo was the woman’s profile.
Wen Wen. What a lovely name.
Born in February, so she was indeed a little older. Calling her “big sister” wasn’t wrong.
As the saying goes, know yourself and know your enemy, and you will never be defeated. Jiang Chi read every word of Wen Wen’s profile, her eyes widening with each line not just because of Wen Wen’s impressive career, but more so because of the “love-hate entanglement” between the two of them…
[Shocking! Jiang Chi rolls her eyes at Wen Wen on live broadcast just because Wen glanced at Su Jing twice!]
[Is it the loss of humanity or the collapse of morals? Obscure actress Jiang Chi dares to compete with award-winning actress Wen Wen for a man?!]
[Exclusive explosive scoop! To avenge Su Jing, D-list actress Jiang Chi leads a group to storm Wen Corporation’s headquarters!!!]
…
Jiang Chi clicked on the third tabloid article. It didn’t detail what had happened only a few blurry photos of her leading a group into Wen Corporation.
What was going on? Had she known Wen Wen all along?
Then why did she have no memory of it?
No, that wasn’t the important part right now.
The important part was: reading between the lines, did Wen Wen also have feelings for Su Jing?
And based on her past behavior, she absolutely wouldn’t tolerate anyone coveting Su Jing especially someone as outstanding as Wen Wen. So, of course, she would have clashed with Wen Wen…
And naturally, that meant she and Wen Wen had become sworn enemies in the eyes of netizens…
No wonder Wen Wen had looked so impatient with her and kept telling her to stay away!
So it was all because of that scoundrel Su Jing again!
“Seriously, what’s so great about this trashy male lead?”
Apart from his protagonist halo, he was utterly worthless well, except for that face of his. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been so obsessed with him before.
Wait, that wasn’t the point. She shook her head and stared at Wen Wen’s magnified beauty on the screen.
It seemed she had another task now, aside from trying to build a good relationship with Wen Wen and becoming inseparable best friends, she also needed to make Wen Wen see through that scumbag’s true colors!
A stunning flower like Wen Wen shouldn’t be stuck on a pile of cow dung like Su Jing!
She wondered if there was a way to completely break free from the plot’s control. If there was, would it also be related to Wen Wen…
As these thoughts swirled in her mind, Jiang Chi’s consciousness began to blur, and she soon fell asleep.
Meanwhile, Wen Wen stood by the floor-to-ceiling window downstairs, making a phone call. “Investigate what’s been happening with Chi Chi recently,” she ordered.
“Yes, President Wen.”
Wen Wen gazed down at the neon-lit city, her peach-blossom eyes like deep, unfathomable pools, concealing untold emotions.
The next day, Jiang Chi was awakened by her phone’s ringtone.
Groggily, she grabbed her phone, glanced at the caller ID, and answered.
“Hello, Chi Chi?” A gentle voice came through the phone.
Still curled up in bed with no intention of getting up, Jiang Chi mumbled, “Mm, Mom, what’s up?”
Liu Ci’s tone carried a hint of reproach. “Why didn’t you come home last night or even call me? If your bodyguard hadn’t told me you were at your own hotel, I would’ve gone out looking for you myself.”
This suddenly reminded Jiang Chi of something. She jolted awake, sat up, and checked the time, 9:30 AM!
She had planned to ambush Wen Wen at her door before she left this morning!
“Mom, I’m sorry. I promise it won’t happen again. I’ve got something urgent now, gotta go. Love you, mwah~”
Hanging up, she dashed to the elevator at top speed and soon stood outside Wen Wen’s room. After calming her breathing, she knocked lightly.
No response.
She knocked again, harder this time.
Still nothing.
Jiang Chi called the front desk. “Hello, this is Jiang Chi. Could you check if Wen Wen in room 2803 on the 28th floor has checked out?”
“Of course, Miss Jiang. Please hold.”
After about a minute, the voice returned. “Miss Jiang, Ms. Wen checked out at 7 AM this morning.”
“Got it, thanks for your help.”
The receptionist seemed taken aback before hurriedly replying, “N-not at all.”
After hanging up, Jiang Chi returned to her room to freshen up, planning to head straight to Wen Corporation to find Wen Wen.
Arriving at Wen Corporation, she approached the front desk. “Hello, is President Wen Wen here?”
“Hello, may I—” The receptionist looked up and froze mid-sentence at the sight of her, stepping back two paces while clutching the desk phone, poised to call for help in a defensive stance.
Seeing her frightened expression, Jiang Chi instantly understood this girl must have been a victim when she last barged in with her crew?
Jiang Chi curled her lips into a devastatingly charming smile and said gently, “I’m not here to cause trouble this time. I need to discuss something with your CEO Wen.”
“Legitimate business,” she emphasized.
Hearing this, the receptionist relaxed slightly. “Our CEO Wen hasn’t returned yet.”
“Now now, miss,” Jiang Chi smiled knowingly, “you didn’t ask if I had an appointment earlier, which means CEO Wen is actually in the office, right? Liars turn ugly, you know.”
The receptionist gulped and countered, “Then may I ask if Miss Jiang has an appointment?”
“I don’t,” Jiang Chi clasped her hands together pleadingly, putting on an adorable pitiful expression. “Could this kind and beautiful lady help notify her? It’s truly urgent business with CEO Wen. Please?”
Just then, the receptionist’s expression changed as she respectfully bowed toward someone behind Jiang Chi: “CEO Wen.”
Jiang Chi turned eagerly, only to hear Wen Wen say indifferently to the receptionist, “Didn’t I say that if Miss Jiang comes, security should escort her out immediately?”
“My apologies, CEO Wen. I’ll call them right away.”
Wen Wen walked off without even glancing at Jiang Chi.
After a stunned pause, Jiang Chi hurried after her and clung to her arm, whining pitifully, “Sis, don’t be so cruel. I really have something important!”
Wen Wen didn’t immediately shake her off but narrowed her eyes at the person clinging to her, her tone unreadable: “Do you always act like this with everyone?”
“Huh?” Jiang Chi looked genuinely confused. “Act like what?”
“Never mind.” Wen Wen tried to free her arm but was immediately grabbed again.
This time Jiang Chi held on tighter. “Don’t be so heartless, sis. Give me a chance?”
Wen Wen stopped resisting and stared directly at her, hesitation creeping into her voice: “Are you admitting you were wrong?”
“Wrong about what?” Jiang Chi reflexively countered.
Of course she should’ve known better than to expect self-awareness from Jiang Chi. Wen Wen yanked her arm forcefully but failed to break free, icily commanding, “Let go.”
Realizing the situation was deteriorating, Jiang Chi quickly conceded, “Okay okay, I was wrong!”
Wen Wen asked flatly, “Oh? About what?”
“Everything!” Jiang Chi declared earnestly.
Ignoring her, Wen Wen turned to the watching receptionist and said coldly, “Where’s security? At this rate, I’m questioning your competence.”
Two guards rushed over immediately. After greeting Wen Wen, they moved to pull Jiang Chi away but stopped at Wen Wen’s sharp glance.
Swallowing hard, a guard said respectfully to Jiang Chi, “Miss Jiang, public displays like this are inappropriate. Please leave our premises.”
Jiang Chi glanced at Wen Wen, not only failing to release her but instead tightening his grip on her hand shamelessly retorting, “What’s not good-looking? With your CEO Wen’s looks, she’d look stunning even in a burlap sack!”
Perhaps everyone was imagining their CEO dressed in a sack, the scattered staff nearby burst into laughter. The security guard’s lips twitched upward but were quickly suppressed as he sternly said, “Miss Jiang, please leave.”
Jiang Chi completely ignored him, blinking innocently at Wen Wen with sincerity, “Sister, don’t mind them. I think you’re super gorgeous! The most beautiful!”
Wen Wen suppressed the urge to smile, clearing her throat and speaking sternly, “Don’t twist my words. Leave my company, and don’t come looking for me again.”
Just as Jiang Chi was about to say more, a sudden phone ringtone interrupted her. As she freed one hand to grab her phone, the hand in her embrace slipped away in an instant. Before she could react, two bodyguards stepped between them, forming an insurmountable barrier that blocked her from Wen Wen.
And Wen Wen walked away without hesitation.
The phone continued blaring insistently. Jiang Chi had no choice but to check the caller her manager. She answered, “Hey, Lu-jie, what’s up?”
“My dear, where on earth are you?” came an exasperated yet helpless voice from the other end. “Do you realize the entire set is waiting for you? Sweetheart, I reminded you last night, you had an early shoot today, remember?”
Jiang Chi racked her brain and vaguely recalled that being the case before she took Bai Yuetong away.
But after what happened last night, she had no mental capacity left to remember her filming schedule. Wen Wen alone had already consumed every thought in her head!
“Sorry, Lu-jie. I don’t want to act anymore.”
“What? Quitting now? Do you know your character is almost done filming?” Lu-jie’s voice was clearly suppressing fury before she caught herself. “Wait, what did you just say?”
“I don’t want to act anymore?”
“No, the line before that.”
“Sorry, Lu-jie. This role was added specifically for me anyway. The show would flow more naturally without me. Please tell the director to just cut my scenes, I’m done.”
Only after finishing this speech did Jiang Chi realize, she hadn’t heard her own voice. Simultaneously, she heard herself immediately contradict her words, declaring haughtily, “So I’m a little late. Lu-jie, tell the director I’ll cover the crew’s catering for the last month. I’m on my way now.”
Hanging up abruptly, Jiang Chi found herself involuntarily marching out of Wen Corporation’s building.
Damn this plot control!
Sister Wen Wen, save me!
