Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot (GL) - Chapter 5
Realizing Wen Wen might be nearby, Jiang Chi inexplicably felt a surge of grievance. Her already reddened eyes grew even more so. Dressed in the attire of an ancient wealthy family’s daughter, she took on an air of pitiful sorrow.
Yet no one at the scene pitied her they all thought she deserved it.
No, she wasn’t here. Not over there either. Wen Wen was nowhere to be seen.
It seemed the plot had achieved its purpose, and only then had it mercifully released her.
Yes, the feeling was different. If Wen Wen had been here, Jiang Chi wouldn’t have felt that oppressive force surrounding her. But now, even though she could move freely, the presence of that mysterious power lingered, as if it could seize control at any moment to push the plot forward.
She glanced at the crew members still staring at her, clasped her hands together in front of her chest, and gave a slight bow. “I’m sorry for the trouble I caused. If you don’t mind, you can contact my team for compensation for working in this heat. I truly apologize.”
A few crew members who couldn’t hide their expressions widened their eyes as if they’d seen a ghost. Some simply chuckled and walked away, while others, noticing her softened attitude, scoffed and muttered, “Think money makes you special?” before storming off.
When Jiang Chi had rushed toward Bai Yuetong earlier, Big Yu had reacted too late. By the time he caught up to stop her, it was already over. Now, witnessing her apology, he stood frozen in place until Jiang Chi walked up to him herself. “Let’s go. We need to see the director.”
Though the director hadn’t said much earlier, he was clearly furious and had called off filming for the day.
By then, the director had already packed up and was about to return to his hotel. Jiang Chi hurried to his car and sincerely apologized, “Director, I’m truly sorry. I didn’t mean to be late or cause trouble today. I deeply regret it.”
She didn’t know what else to say, she couldn’t exactly claim she’d been controlled by some unseen force, or she’d risk being labeled insane and hauled off for study.
“There’s one more thing. I’d like to withdraw from the production. My role isn’t essential anyway you could easily cut it. If this causes any inconvenience, I apologize again.”
The director’s expression turned as if he, too, had seen a ghost, his eyes bulging. It wasn’t his fault, he’d seen Jiang Chi in every state imaginable, but never one where she apologized so earnestly.
Though the director would have been thrilled to see her leave, he couldn’t actually let her go. The entire production was funded by the Jiang family kicking their treasured daughter out of the “game” was out of the question.
He replied politely, “Miss Jiang, I know you didn’t mean any harm, and I accept your apology. But as for withdrawing… even though your role was added later, it’s closely tied to the male lead’s storyline. Cutting it would render many of his scenes unusable. I doubt you’d want that outcome.”
“Moreover, the filming for this drama is already in its final stages. Your character only has three more scenes left before wrapping up completely, so I hope you’ll reconsider quitting.”
Da Yu was completely stunned by Jiang Chi’s series of shocking statements. It wasn’t until the director was halfway through speaking that he finally snapped out of it and quickly chimed in, “Yeah, Jiang Jiang, you wouldn’t want Teacher Su’s screen time to be reduced, would you?”
Su Jing, Su Jing, she’d be thrilled if Su Jing were shipped off to another planet!
But she couldn’t say that. Even though her behavior today had already been erratic enough, when it came to maintaining her character’s image regarding Su Jing… she still had to keep up appearances a little. Who knew how this ridiculous plot might force her to pester Su Jing later? She definitely didn’t want to be labeled as a mentally unstable lunatic.
“I understand, Director,” Jiang Chi said earnestly. “Next time, I promise I’ll do my best not to cause trouble.”
The director gave her a look like she was insane and quickly made his escape.
Watching the car disappear into the distance, Jiang Chi gazed thoughtfully before saying seriously, “Da Yu, in today’s society, isn’t it pretty easy to get someone’s phone number?”
Da Yu nodded confidently. “Absolutely! Jiang Jiang, whose number do you want? Just tell me, and I’ll get it for you right away.”
“Wen Wen.” The name rolled sweetly off Jiang Chi’s tongue.
“No problem, Wen, Wen Wen?” Da Yu’s face twisted in disbelief as he cautiously asked, “You mean the Wen Wen I’m thinking of?”
“Mhm.” Jiang Chi grinned. “The current top actress in the entertainment industry, the stunning beauty surnamed Wen, given name Wen. I want her number by the end of today. I’m counting on you, I’m off now.” She walked away, turning back to wink playfully at Da Yu. “To ambush your beloved Wen, the actress.”
Da Yu pinched his thigh hard, yelping in pain as he spun in place twice.
He wasn’t dreaming, but was this world even real? Since when had his reckless, spoiled Miss Jiang suddenly changed her ways?
The red sports car darted through the streets like a swift leopard, executing a smooth turn before coming to a perfect stop in a parking space.
Jiang Chi leaned against the steering wheel, her eyes fixed on the entrance of the Wen Corporation building in the distance. Her slender fingers tapped anxiously against the wheel as she muttered to herself, “Should I just barge in, or wait here for Wen Wen to come out after work?”
She checked the time, only 3 PM. If she waited, who knew how long it would take? But barging in… she definitely couldn’t take on all those security guards.
If only she hadn’t been so half-hearted about boxing practice back then!
Frustrated, she pressed her cheek against the steering wheel, only to suddenly spot the delivery box on the passenger seat. Her dark eyes instantly lit up, and she immediately started the car. The red sports car shot forward like a predator.
On the 28th floor of the building, inside the CEO’s office, Wen Wen stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, watching until that flash of red completely vanished from sight. Only then did she turn to her assistant and say, “Let’s go. Time for the meeting.”
Jiang Chi drove to a nearby department store, picking out a simple outfit to change into. She bought a mask to cover most of her face and a hat to conceal her striking red hair.
Standing in front of the dressing room mirror, all that remained visible were her eyes. Satisfied, she nodded.
She went upstairs to the luxury store and bought a mangosteen-shaped necklace, asking the clerk to package it as requested.
After finishing this, she quickly drove back to the Wen Corporation building. This time, she parked her car in a spot farther from the main entrance to avoid drawing too much attention.
Checking her appearance in the rearview mirror repeatedly to ensure everything was in place, Jiang Chi finally opened the car door and stepped out. Taking a deep breath, she walked into the Wen Corporation building with natural ease.
Approaching the front desk, Jiang Chi slightly lowered her head, pretending to write something on a courier slip, and said in a professional tone, “Hello, same-day express delivery. The sender specifically requested that this package be handed directly to someone named Wen Wen here. Could you please notify her to come down and collect it, or tell me her location so I can deliver it?”
After waiting a moment with no response, she looked up to see the same receptionist from noon smiling politely at her and saying warmly, “Miss Jiang, I’m sorry, but our CEO doesn’t wish to see you.”
Jiang Chi was stunned for half a second. “How did you recognize me?”
“It was quite easy to recognize you,” the receptionist replied, maintaining her polite smile. “Miss Jiang, would you prefer to leave on your own, or should I call security to escort you out?”
Jiang Chi’s eyes darted around, landing on the only gift-worthy item in her possession the necklace. But the thought of giving it away was immediately suppressed in her mind.
This was for Wen Wen! She couldn’t give it to anyone else!
She crumpled the soft pouch into her pocket, placed both hands on the marble reception counter, and interlaced her fingers, attempting to charm her way through. “How about letting your CEO ask me to leave herself?”
“Of course,” the receptionist said, picking up the landline phone beside her. “I’ll call security for you.”
Jiang Chi hurriedly reached out to stop her, her eyes dropping in disappointment. “Fine, I’ll leave on my own.”
Leave?
Not a chance!
She drove around the open parking lot, eventually spotting Wen Wen’s blue sports car. She parked directly opposite it, in a spot that gave her a clear view of the building’s main entrance. As soon as Wen Wen stepped out, she’d see her.
In her 28th-floor office, Wen Wen set down the documents in her hand, rubbed her temples, and stood up to gaze out the floor-to-ceiling window. Her eyes gradually drifted downward, landing on the familiar red car.
Glancing at her watch, she raised an eyebrow slightly. It was already 8 p.m. How long had she been waiting?
Wen Wen returned to her desk, shut down her computer, and began organizing the files. Just then, her assistant walked in. “CEO Wen, the last meeting of the day is scheduled in ten minutes.”
“Cancel it. Reschedule for tomorrow afternoon and let everyone go home early,” Wen Wen said without looking up.
The assistant was momentarily stunned. Wen Wen was known for her meticulous planning, she never made last-minute changes like this.
Receiving no response, Wen Wen glanced up at her, picked up her bag, and walked toward the door, patting the assistant’s shoulder on the way out. “I just remembered I have an appointment to see a puppy for adoption today. You should head home early and rest too.”
The assistant adjusted her glasses, watching her CEO’s retreating figure with confusion. What kind of puppy could possibly make someone like Wen Wen break her own rules?
The moment Wen Wen turned the corner from the elevator, she noticed movement from the figure inside the red car parked opposite. By the time she reached the main entrance, Jiang Chi had already sprinted to the doorway and stood before her.
Jiang Chi was dressed in a black casual outfit, her fiery red hair tucked beneath a black baseball cap. She flashed Wen Wen a sweet smile, looking every bit like a vibrant college student full of youthful energy.
Wen Wen feigned surprise. “What are you doing here?”
Instead of answering, Jiang Chi pouted slightly with a hint of complaint. “Sis, do you always work this late? I’ve been waiting for you since four this afternoon didn’t even have dinner. I’m starving~”
Just then, a burst of chatter erupted nearby. A group of young men and women huddled together, their voices not exactly hushed, seemingly gossiping about something.
“Assistant He, come on, tell us! What exactly did President Wen say?”
“Yeah, is President Wen dating someone? From what I know, only the mysterious power of love can make a rational person lose control!”
“I think so too! I really wanna know what kind of guy could win over someone like President Wen gorgeous, sharp, loaded, and outstanding in every aspect of her work. She’s practically a goddess!”
The girl at the center of the group sighed in exasperation. “I’ve said it a million times President Wen just wants to adopt a puppy! She left early to go see it!”
“I don’t believe it!”
“Believe it,” Wen Wen interjected with an amused smile, her tone gentle as she looked at the gathered employees. “What she said is exactly what I said. Also, watch where you’re walking, and be safe on your way home. I’m heading out now.”
Jiang Chi stood beside her, staring unblinkingly at Wen Wen, her mind filled with nothing but admiration, Beauties really are beauties. She looks so pretty when she smiles, talks so softly, and her voice is so soothing. She’s just perfect in every way! But then it hit her, why was Wen Wen so warm to everyone else yet so cold to her?
She didn’t even spare her a glance, just walked off without hesitation!
Jiang Chi hurried after her.
