Turns Out Seducing the Movie Queen Can Break the Plot (GL) - Chapter 6
Jiang Chi ran up to Wen Wen while walking backward, his face full of grievance. “You’re so gentle with everyone else, sis. Can’t you be a little gentler with me too? Otherwise, I’ll be heartbroken.”
Wen Wen didn’t look at him, keeping her eyes on the path ahead. “They’re my employees. What are you to me?”
Jiang Chi pinched his chin in thought for a moment before grinning. “I’m your future best friend.”
“Be careful, there’s a step behind—”
Before she could finish the word “step,” Jiang Chi’s foot landed on empty air, and his body instantly lost balance, tilting backward.
Wen Wen reacted swiftly, grabbing his wrist and yanking him back. But she had overlooked her own circumstances, she was wearing high heels. The sudden pull threw her off balance, and she stumbled sideways.
At the critical moment, Jiang Chi steadied himself just in time and pulled Wen Wen tightly into his arms.
Her heart, which had remained calm even at the prospect of falling, suddenly surged with turbulence the moment she was embraced. Wen Wen lifted her hands slightly, as if to return the hug, but was abruptly pushed away.
“Whew, that scared me. I almost fell,” Jiang Chi exhaled in relief, straightening Wen Wen up. “Are you okay?”
Standing face to face, so close they could almost hear each other’s breathing, Wen Wen paused for a second before lowering her head and murmuring, “I’m fine.” She tried to pull her hand free from his grasp but found it held even tighter. She looked up.
The distance between them seemed to shrink further, as if their breaths had synchronized. Wen Wen instinctively held hers, though she couldn’t control the pounding of her heart.
Jiang Chi gazed at her seriously, as if making a monumental decision. Taking a deep breath, he asked, “Are you seeing someone?”
Thump.
Her heart skipped a beat. Wen Wen was momentarily stunned.
“I know it’s rude to ask, but I don’t care! If you don’t answer, I won’t let go!” Jiang Chi said stubbornly.
Regaining her composure, Wen Wen countered, “Why does it matter?”
Jiang Chi hesitated before replying, “If you were dating someone, all your time would go to them. You’d be with them all the time, and then there’d be nothing left for me your future best friend! That’d be such a raw deal for me.”
Wen Wen’s eyes dimmed, shadowed under the streetlight. “I’m not seeing anyone,” she said quietly. “But even so, I won’t spare any time for you.”
With that, she forcefully freed her hands and continued toward the parking spot.
“Why not? I really want to be good friends with you! It’d be even better if we became inseparable besties!”
“I’m a great friend, you know! Just think about it, okay?”
Wen Wen suddenly stopped, lowering her head and closing her eyes as she took a deep breath. When she turned back to face Jiang Chi, her expression was firm and merciless. “Listen carefully. I will never be friends with you again.”
The intensity of her tone startled Jiang Chi, making him miss the oddity in her phrasing.
Without another word, Wen Wen turned and walked away this time, much faster.
“Why?” Jiang Chi chased after her.
Wen Wen stopped at the car door and turned with a warning. “Don’t follow me.”
Getting into the car and closing the door, Wen Wen suddenly heard a cry of “Ah!” from above her head. She quickly pushed the door open and stepped out, her expression dark as if she wanted to say something. Jiang Chi preempted her, whining pitifully, “Sister, my hand hurts so much. Is it going to die? Wuwuwu…”
Wen Wen sighed lightly as she looked at Jiang Chi’s rapidly swelling, reddened hand. “Get in the car. I’ll take you to the hospital.”
Jiang Chi immediately brightened, her tone lifting. “Okay!”
Wen Wen took her to a private hospital under the Wen family’s name and had the best emergency surgeon examine her.
The doctor said, “It’s not too bad. No bones were injured, just severe localized bruising. However, movement might be inconvenient for the next week.”
After collecting the prescribed medication, Wen Wen drove Jiang Chi home.
Looking at the familiar villa gate, Jiang Chi unconsciously curled her lips into a smile and leaned toward Wen Wen. “How did you know I live here? Tell me, have you been secretly keeping tabs on me?”
Was she genuinely forgetting or pretending? Wen Wen raised an eyebrow slightly and tilted her head to look at her.
The streetlight outside filtered through the car window, casting half of Wen Wen’s face in shadow and the other half in light, making her expression unreadable.
Seeing Wen Wen staring at her without speaking, Jiang Chi grinned even wider. “What’s wrong, sister? Do you think I’m so pretty you want to look longer? Then come a little closer.”
With that, she leaned in herself, their breaths instantly mingling.
Wen Wen inhaled sharply, holding her breath, and shoved the medication into Jiang Chi’s hands, her voice cool. “Get out of the car.”
“Oh! You’re kicking me out!” Jiang Chi lifted her bandaged, mummy-like hand in front of Wen Wen, feigning shock. “You don’t want to take responsibility, do you?”
Wen Wen didn’t look at her, keeping her gaze forward. “I already have.”
“But the doctor said I’ll have trouble moving for the next week! If you plant a flower, do you just stick it in the soil and leave it?” Jiang Chi complained.
Wen Wen rubbed her temples, her voice resigned. “Then what do you want?”
Jiang Chi’s bright, clear eyes gleamed even more in the darkness as she took out her phone, unlocked it, and handed it to Wen Wen. “First, give me your phone number.”
Earlier that afternoon, Big Fish had called to tell her that no matter what method they tried, they couldn’t find Wen Wen’s phone number. She had been upset about it for a while, but now the opportunity had presented itself.
Wen Wen stared at the phone for a few seconds before taking it and entering her number, murmuring under her breath, “It’s useless even if I give it to you.”
Her voice was so soft that even in the silent night, Jiang Chi didn’t catch it. She took the phone back and without hesitation typed “Wen the Great Beauty” in the contact name field.
After slipping the phone back into her bag, Jiang Chi raised her injured hand again and made her second demand. “Your car did this, so you have to take full responsibility. That means you have to come over every day to change my bandages.”
“Professional matters should be handled by professionals. Go to the hospital or call your family doctor,” Wen Wen replied without hesitation.
“How did you know I have a family doctor?” Jiang Chi asked suspiciously.
Wen Wen brushed it off. “Just a guess.”
“Oh, okay.” Jiang Chi didn’t question further. “The family doctor won’t do. I can go to the hospital, but you have to drive me there and back.”
“Fine.”
Wen Wen unexpectedly didn’t refuse, she agreed without the slightest hesitation. Jiang Chi was momentarily stunned by this attitude but quickly recovered: “What time works for you tomorrow? If you’re busy, I can wait at your office!”
“I’m free anytime. You decide.”
Jiang Chi thought for a moment: “How about 8 a.m.?”
The hospital would already be open by then, and she could see Wen Wen early. Once they met, she’d have no trouble finding ways to stick around.
Her plan was solid, but the next day, it wasn’t Wen Wen who came to pick her up.
A kind-looking, balding middle-aged driver stepped out of a black sedan and respectfully opened the rear door: “Please get in, Miss Jiang. I’ve been sent by my lady to take you to the hospital for your dressing change.”
“Your lady is cheating!”
No wonder she agreed so readily yesterday, she had this trick up her sleeve.
Jiang Chi huffed and immediately pulled out her phone to call Wen Wen.
The driver didn’t rush her, standing politely to the side.
The call connected with a single ring before switching to a busy tone: “Hello…”
Jiang Chi hung up and glared at the driver. “Your lady’s that popular? Last night it was busy, and now it’s busy again!”
The driver neither confirmed nor denied it. “My lady is indeed very busy, which is why she sent me to take you to the hospital. Under normal circumstances, she would never break an appointment. Today, I hope Miss Jiang can understand.”
Jiang Chi snorted and climbed into the car. “Fine, I’ll believe her this once.”
But the next day, the day after, and the day after that even when the doctor said she no longer needed dressing changes and just had to be careful with movement it was still the driver who came for her!
Jiang Chi raised an eyebrow at the fourth different driver in as many days. “Go on, tell me.”
Yesterday’s excuse was food poisoning didn’t want to be late.
The day before, it was an urgent morning meeting.
Today, she was ready for whatever absurd reason came next.
The driver replied calmly, “My lady went on a business trip yesterday afternoon.”
“Oh…” Jiang Chi drew out the syllable. “When is she coming back?”
“That… isn’t something I would know.”
“Then where did she go?” She’d fly straight there to find her!
The driver glanced at her, still polite. “That also isn’t something I would know.”
“……” Speechless, Jiang Chi pulled out her phone and called Wen Wen again.
Same as before one ring, then busy tone.
A realization struck her. “Did your lady block me? Use your phone to call!”
The driver obliged, dialing as instructed. The same busy tone played.
Jiang Chi exhaled in relief. At least she wasn’t blocked. Not that it made sense anyway the first call had gone straight to busy before Wen Wen could’ve known it was her.
Fine. If that’s how it was, she’d just have to ambush Wen Wen in person tomorrow!
She had originally planned to intercept Wen Wen early the next morning before she arrived at the company. However, filming the final scene last night had dragged on until late, and by the time she got back, it was already past 2 a.m. After washing up and going to bed, it was 3 a.m., which meant she completely missed her alarm and didn’t wake up until 10 a.m.
By the time she arrived at Wen Corporation Tower, it was already 11 a.m.
The receptionist still blocked her way and even threatened to call security to escort her out.
Jiang Chi quickly stopped her, saying, “Haven’t you heard the news? My relationship with your CEO Wen has changed!”
The receptionist ignored her, dismissing her words as nonsense, and proceeded to pick up the landline to call security.
“Wait! Just wait, I’ll call your CEO Wen myself!”
