Unexpected (GL) - Chapter 20
“You’re awake!” Xie Jing glanced at Qin Ning, whose face still had water drops, guessing she had just finished washing up. Hehe, her timing was just right. She didn’t disturb Qin Ning.
“Mm, just woke up.” Qin Ning took the lunch box from Xie Jing’s hand and put it on the table. Then she turned back to close the door. After doing this, she took out the letter and asked nervously,
“Xie Jing, is this for me?”
“Yes, yes. That’s a love letter I rewrote after I woke up. After I finished, I saw it was late, so I went to the cafeteria to get food first. I also got you a roast duck rice box.” Besides that, Xie
Jing secretly went to the stationery store and bought a stack of sponge paper, planning to fold 99 roses for Qin Ning again.
“This place’s roast duck rice is really delicious, and there’s no mushrooms~” Xie Jing said as she bent down to take the lunch box out of the biodegradable plastic bag.
Qin Ning stared at Xie Jing’s busy back, feeling her heart full. Even though she already knew Xie Jing was like a hidden little sun, when she personally felt the light from Xie Jing, Qin Ning felt a
warm feeling inside and out.
“Thank you.” Qin Ning took out her phone. “I’ll send you the money for the meal on WeChat.”
“No… last time I sent you money for Xie Guai’s vaccine, you didn’t accept it, and it was returned after it expired.” Xie Jing stopped Qin Ning, pushing chopsticks into her palm without letting her
refuse. “I just want to treat you to a meal, is that not okay?”
Besides, they had already confessed to each other. They shouldn’t still be so formal around each other.
Xie Jing looked at Qin Ning, shyly asking, “Qin Ning, what exactly are we now?”
Though a bit late to ask—after all, they kissed yesterday—but it seemed Qin Ning hadn’t said she wanted to be her girlfriend.
Better to be safe and confirm again.
“What kind of relationship do you want with me? Just roommates, or… girlfriends?” Qin Ning said the three words and stared at Xie Jing, a bit of hope shining in her eyes. Although she confessed to
Xie Jing yesterday, she was too emotional then and forgot to ask if Xie Jing wanted to confirm the relationship.
Qin Ning’s personality was reserved; last night’s confession was sudden because of her feelings.
Afterwards, she thought about their relationship all night. Even though they liked each other, what if Xie Jing’s parents didn’t accept them? And since they lived in the same dorm, sooner or later
other roommates would notice. How would Xie Jing handle that?
“Of course girlfriends! I’ve never had a relationship before,” Xie Jing said excitedly, like a bird ready to fly free. “Besides, college doesn’t stop early relationships. Even if we hold hands in
school, no one would say anything.”
Xie Jing was right. Jinghai University was open-minded and didn’t oppose students dating, even same-s3x couples.
Since that’s the case…
“Okay.” Qin Ning nodded seriously. “Girlfriend!”
Hearing this, the heavy stone in Xie Jing’s heart finally fell. She exhaled and smiled, showing her white teeth.
They carefully and seriously confirmed their relationship as a couple.
“Girlfriend, you must be starving since you skipped breakfast.” Xie Jing smiled and pushed the roast duck rice toward Qin Ning. “Eat quickly. It’s still hot.”
Qin Ning looked at her, amused. So happy just from confirming the relationship? When they kissed yesterday, Xie Jing even wanted to run away.
Thinking of this, Qin Ning glanced at Xie Jing’s lips. Maybe because she liked licking her lips, Xie Jing’s were always moist, with faint lip lines and a small, shy, slightly pursed lip bead. She
looked very gentle.
“What’s wrong? No appetite?” Xie Jing asked, confused as Qin Ning didn’t move her chopsticks.
“No.” Qin Ning suddenly grabbed Xie Jing’s wrist. “I want to kiss you.”
“Ah… this…” Xie Jing’s face instantly flushed red. Qin Ning… how could she do this! Almost time to eat, but she wants to kiss first? Can’t we eat first and then kiss?
“Can I?” Though asking, Qin Ning didn’t loosen her grip, almost pulling Xie Jing onto her lap.
Xie Jing bit her lip, eyes flickering, and nodded, “Just… just one quick one.”
Qin Ning didn’t say anything and pulled Xie Jing onto her lap. She put her hand on Xie Jing’s neck and leaned in to kiss.
Unlike last night in the dark, this time Qin Ning clearly saw Xie Jing’s skin slowly turning red. The blush spread from her cheeks to behind her ears, then down her neck and collarbone, disappearing
into her white collar.
Xie Jing had just finished a milk-flavored lollipop, so Qin Ning tasted a faint milky scent from her mouth.
Strangely, Qin Ning didn’t like dairy products before, but now the milky scent from Xie Jing’s mouth felt like fine wine, tempting her to keep wanting more.
Only when Qin Ning’s lemon mouthwash covered Xie Jing’s breath did she slightly pull away.
Their foreheads touched, noses brushed, warm breaths tangled. Qin Ning looked down at Xie Jing’s lips, ripe like cherries, her eyes dimmed.
“No, we said just once.” Xie Jing saw Qin Ning staring at her lips and reached out to cover her mouth, but Qin Ning caught her wrist and pinned it behind her back.
Xie Jing: “???”
Liar, you don’t keep your promise?
“Be good, kiss me again.” After calming her breath, Qin Ning lowered her head again. Unlike before, this kiss was gentle, as if savoring a treat slowly.
Just as they kissed lost in each other, sounds of playful noise came from the hallway, growing closer.
Xie Jing suddenly opened her eyes wide, looking toward the door, a bit panicked.
“It’s fine.” Qin Ning raised her eyelids. “I locked the door from inside. No one can come in.”
Xie Jing: “…” When did she lock it? Why didn’t she tell her? Wait, why would Qin Ning lock the door? Did she already expect they would kiss again? No, a second kiss.
While Xie Jing was lost in thoughts, Qin Ning, seemingly annoyed at her daydreaming, turned her head and gently bit her earlobe.
Xie Jing felt like someone had flipped a switch inside her; her waist shivered and she moaned softly.
Qin Ning looked at Xie Jing like she discovered a new world, then thoughtfully stuck out her tongue and licked the sensitive earlobe.
“Mm…” Xie Jing opened her eyes wide, shocked by Qin Ning’s teasing. Her ears were sensitive and fragile; just a bit of heat made half her body tingle. Qin Ning’s mouth on her earlobe was almost
like holding her life, leaving her unable to move, only able to stare.
Qin Ning seemed to not understand Xie Jing’s embarrassment and even found it fun, lowering her head to play with Xie Jing’s earlobe happily.
Xie Jing’s eyes turned slightly red, tears welling up from the stimulation. Qin Ning caught the shimmering tears and immediately stopped.
“What’s wrong?” Qin Ning froze. “Did I hurt you?”
“No…” It didn’t hurt, but it was itchy and numb. Xie Jing felt weak all over and couldn’t use any strength.
She rested on Qin Ning’s leg for a while before recovering. Qin Ning’s hand was still supporting her lower back. Xie Jing moved a little and said, “Put me down.”
Reluctantly, Qin Ning let go, and Xie Jing quickly jumped off her lap and went to the door. She checked carefully and saw that the dorm door was indeed locked from the inside.
Xie Jing glanced at Qin Ning without saying a word and then sat down at her own spot.
Xie Jing didn’t stay silent for long before Qin Ning moved closer. Xie Jing instinctively made space on the table, then lowered her head to eat.
“This roast duck rice is really good.” Qin Ning picked up some meat and put it in Xie Jing’s bowl. “Eat more, Xie Jing, you’re too thin.”
Seeing Qin Ning’s kind attitude, Xie Jing put aside her small awkwardness. She ate the meat Qin Ning gave her, then returned the favor by putting a piece of cabbage in Qin Ning’s bowl.
“You should eat more too.”
Qin Ning smiled and ate the cabbage. The two of them finally returned to a peaceful mood.
After finishing the meal, Qin Ning rinsed her mouth and then took out a bottle of green tea, handing it to Xie Jing. “This is a thank-you gift for bringing me food.”
Xie Jing accepted it happily. After drinking a few sips, she noticed Qin Ning was staring at her.
“What’s wrong? Are you thirsty too?”
Qin Ning nodded. “A little.”
“Then have a sip too.” Xie Jing turned the bottle to her and held it near Qin Ning’s mouth. Qin Ning took a sip while holding Xie Jing’s hand.
But the position was awkward. Some tea spilled, running down Qin Ning’s neck to her collarbone, wetting part of her shirt.
Xie Jing stared at the darkened fabric for two seconds before realizing and quickly took out a tissue to wipe it.
“Your shirt’s wet. What should we do?” Xie Jing looked worried. “Qin Ning, are you cold? Do you want to change clothes?”
“I’m not cold.” Qin Ning held Xie Jing’s hand that was on her chest and looked down at her, her eyes shining with a strange light. “It’s okay, I’ll handle it.”
“Still, you should change. Wet clothes sticking to your skin can feel uncomfortable.”
Xie Jing didn’t realize how intimate her actions were. Her hand was pressed against Qin Ning’s chest, held firmly by Qin Ning so she couldn’t move it.
Xie Jing tried to wipe a few more times until the wet spot lightened, then pulled back her hand.
“Xie Jing.” Qin Ning’s breathing quickened, her breath became hotter.
“Hm?” Xie Jing looked up, and suddenly Qin Ning grabbed her wrist and leaned down to kiss her.
Xie Jing’s one hand was held, and the other still held the drink. She froze, afraid to move. When Qin Ning parted her lips, Xie Jing’s hand shook, almost dropping the bottle.
Qin Ning had just drunk the tea, and her mouth smelled fresh like green tea. Xie Jing swallowed and slowly sank into the kiss.
Maybe because they had practiced twice before, Xie Jing was calmer this time. Though still bad at breathing, she didn’t turn red from choking.
Xie Jing tried to match Qin Ning, twisting and rubbing their tongues inside their lips and teeth.
Qin Ning noticed Xie Jing’s awkward response. Her heart beat like a drum, excited and happy, like it would burst and show her joy to the girl in front of her.
“Hmm…” Suddenly, Xie Jing pushed Qin Ning away. She turned her head and took a deep breath, panting like a fish out of water.
Qin Ning tasted a bit of bl00d. When Xie Jing’s wild kiss hit her lips, her canine tooth grazed Qin Ning’s mouth, but Qin Ning didn’t show any discomfort and still returned Xie Jing’s shy kiss.
“I really can’t kiss anymore today,” Xie Jing said, blushing. “We already kissed… three times.”
Xie Jing clearly felt Qin Ning’s kissing got better. Yesterday, it was just lips touching, and later, a little tongue. But today’s three kisses almost made her choke.
The kisses made her feel strange all over, weak and tingling like electric shocks. This made Xie Jing feel scared—was she sick? Or had her genes changed?
“From now on, only one kiss a day,” Xie Jing wagged her slender finger in front of Qin Ning. “We have to be careful, no too many kisses. It’s bad for your health.”
Surprisingly, Qin Ning didn’t seem unhappy. She smiled and said, “Okay, I’ll listen to you.”
Xie Jing breathed a sigh of relief, glad Qin Ning was reasonable.
“Then it’s decided.” Xie Jing took another sip of green tea. She trembled a little as she put the cap back on and planned to cut sponge paper to fold roses. Unexpectedly, Qin Ning reached out to
help press the edges of the paper.
Qin Ning said, “Let’s fold together.”
“Oh… okay.” Since the roses were for Qin Ning, Xie Jing didn’t refuse.
Folding roses was delicate work—easy but needing concentration. After two hours, Xie Jing suddenly yawned.
Qin Ning, who had been watching her carefully, stopped folding. “Tired?”
“Yeah, a little.” Xie Jing had gotten up too early, still drunk from the night before, had been busy writing love letters since six in the morning, worked all morning, and folded roses all
afternoon. She was naturally sleepy.
Qin Ning looked at her sleepy girlfriend and took the half-finished rose from her. In a few moves, she finished it, then took her hand and led her to the stairs.
“Go rest now. I’ll wake you at six.”
“Aren’t you coming too?” Xie Jing stopped, looking back at Qin Ning. She took the rose Qin Ning had just folded and put it on the table.
“No doubt, Qin Ning, you’re coming with me.”
After saying this, Xie Jing went to bed.
Qin Ning thought for a few seconds, then climbed the wooden stairs. Two seconds later, she lifted Xie Jing’s pink bed curtain and slipped inside.
Xie Jing was already lying down on the side of the bed, with a few stuffed toys by her pillow. Seeing Qin Ning come in, she was surprised for a moment, then moved the toys onto the blanket.
Xie Jing patted the space beside her generously. “Ning Aifei, I share my dragon bed with you.”
Qin Ning: “…” If Xie Jing’s eyes weren’t almost closed, Qin Ning would definitely pinch her and kiss her a few more times to remind her who the real “Aifei” was.
