Unexpected (GL) - Chapter 36
Although it was their wedding night, since neither of them had any parents left, they hadn’t planned on holding a wedding ceremony. Besides, even if they wanted to, there simply wasn’t enough time.
Qin Ning felt that Xie Jing had been wronged, so she planned to be gentler tonight. But after two whole years of restraint, the moment felt a hundred times more intense than a normal wedding night.
In the end, Qin Ning couldn’t hold back and accidentally made Xie Jing cry.
Xie Jing went through every curse word she knew in her head, but still couldn’t find one strong enough to describe Qin Ning’s madness last night.
“You jerk! You beast! You hypocrite!”
“Liar! You’re a total liar!”
“Ugh.”
Supporting her sore waist, Xie Jing shuffled into the bathroom, slammed the door shut, and then the sound of running water filled the room.
While showering, Xie Jing avoided looking in the mirror the entire time. That crazy Qin Ning had suddenly gone mad last night, reeking of jealousy, and asked her whether she’d been kissed here or
touched there—just shy of naming names, as if Xie Jing couldn’t figure out what she meant.
Xie Jing said no—nowhere had been kissed. But Qin Ning didn’t believe her and only got more jealous. It was completely unreasonable!
After angrily finishing her shower and drying off, Xie Jing realized she had been in such a hurry earlier that she forgot to bring clean clothes. She thought about just walking out and grabbing one
of Qin Ning’s shirts from the closet, but as soon as she opened the door, she heard noise from the bedroom.
Peeking out, she saw Qin Ning bent over, changing the bedsheets.
Blushing, Xie Jing quickly slammed the bathroom door shut again.
She couldn’t wear the dirty clothes again, so she had no choice but to wrap herself in a towel and step out. Her legs were originally fair and slender, but now they were covered in marks. As soon as
she walked out, Qin Ning looked up at her. Her lips moved slightly, as if she wanted to say something but held back.
Xie Jing glared at her fiercely, quickly grabbed a shirt from the wardrobe, and dashed back into the bathroom.
When she came out dressed, Qin Ning was already gone. A set of underwear in her size had been left by the bed—but no pants.
Qin Ning did this on purpose, didn’t she?!
Just as Xie Jing was staring at the clothes in a daze, she heard Qin Ning’s voice from outside the door.
“Xie Jing, come out and eat lunch.”
“Oh…”
Qin Ning’s clothes were a bit big on her. The hem of the shirt came down to her upper thighs. After glancing down at herself, Xie Jing just walked out with bare legs.
Let Qin Ning reflect on her beastly behavior from last night.
She had left not a single patch of unmarked skin.
While eating lunch, Xie Jing happily swung her slender legs and sent a message to her aunt, saying she might need a while before returning to Jiang City.
As soon as she put her phone down, she met Qin Ning’s deep gaze.
Xie Jing: “?”
Qin Ning: “Sit properly.”
Born rebellious, Xie Jing didn’t just ignore her—she plopped right into Qin Ning’s lap. All her weight pressed down on Qin Ning’s thighs. Feeling smug, Xie Jing thought this was a pretty decent form
of revenge.
Qin Ning wrapped one arm around her waist and used the other to place a piece of vegetable into her bowl. “Who were you messaging just now?”
“No one!” Xie Jing didn’t hold back. She flicked the vegetable back into Qin Ning’s bowl and picked up a piece of steamed fish to eat.
Obviously not buying it, Qin Ning tightened her arm around Xie Jing’s waist and brushed her cheek against her ear before sneakily biting her earlobe.
“Ouch! Don’t bite my ear! It hurts!”
Xie Jing tried to dodge, but couldn’t escape. She tried to get up, but Qin Ning pushed her back down into her lap and gently patted her.
“Eat properly,” Qin Ning said. “We’re going out after lunch.”
“…Oh.” Xie Jing’s ears were burning red. She sat up straight and didn’t dare move again.
She didn’t ask where they were going. After lunch, when she got to the living room, she saw a pile of clothes on the sofa, all in her size.
“Wear this one,” Qin Ning said, picking out a light blue dress and holding it up to her.
Qin Ning had great taste, so Xie Jing didn’t object. She obediently changed into the dress and followed her out.
According to Qin Ning, they were attending a birthday party at the Fang family’s old house. It was her cousin’s birthday, and a lot of guests would be there.
Qin Ning also wanted to use the party as a chance to let Xie Jing make a public appearance. Since they were already married, they would inevitably attend events together in the future, so it was
good to give people a heads-up now.
They first picked out a gift for her cousin, then had Xie Jing’s hair and makeup done before heading to the Fang house.
Though it was called a birthday party, it was really more of a business networking event. Many companies and influential families from Jinghai were invited, hoping to spark new collaborations.
Xie Jing was never into these kinds of social events. After walking a few steps with Qin Ning, she let go of her hand.
“I want to walk around on my own.”
“Don’t wander too far. I’ll come find you later.” Though Qin Ning wasn’t completely at ease leaving her alone, this was still the Fang house, and security wasn’t an issue.
After Qin Ning left, Xie Jing lifted her dress and wandered into a quiet corner of the garden.
The Fang family estate was huge—about 800–900 square meters in this pricey part of Jinghai. A five-story standalone villa with a garden and an artificial lake. The party was mainly happening on the
first floor of the villa and in the garden.
Qin Ning had already gone into the villa. Xie Jing looked around at the scenery and took out her phone to chat and kill some time. But before she could open WeChat, a few stunning girls appeared in
front of her.
When Xie Jing looked up, they were all surprised.
The girl leading the group quickly recovered and smiled at Xie Jing. “Hey… whose daughter are you? I don’t think I’ve seen you before?”
“I’m…” Xie Jing thought for a second, “a friend of President Fang’s.”
“Oh, so you’re President Fang’s friend. No wonder you’re so pretty… Come on, let’s have a drink. Sitting here playing with your phone alone is no fun.”
Chen Yunqing’s eyes sparkled. She cheerfully came over and grabbed Xie Jing’s hand. Xie Jing couldn’t resist her enthusiasm, so she followed her to a long table.
The table was filled with champagne and desserts. Xie Jing was a bit hungry and reached for a dessert—but before she could grab one, someone handed her a glass of champagne.
“I still don’t know your last name,” Chen Yunqing said, raising her glass to her.
“Xie. Xie Jing,” she replied, clinking glasses with her.
“So you’re Miss Xie. I’m Chen Yunqing.” She took a sip, then leaned in and asked in a quiet voice, “I heard President Fang has a first love she’s been thinking about for two years. Is it true?”
Xie Jing was stunned. “Where did you hear that?”
“My cousin.”
Her cousin had worked with President Fang before. Chen Yunqing had thought they’d end up together, but her cousin came back saying it was impossible. Apparently, President Fang had someone else in
her heart—and she’d even seen that person once and thought they looked perfect together.
Xie Jing asked, “Who’s your cousin?”
“That’s not important. What matters is—I really like President Fang. I want to pursue her. You’re her friend, right? You must know who this first love is?”
“It’s been two years… Do they still have a chance?”
If not, she planned to make a move. She wasn’t like her cousin who had hang-ups—she didn’t care if President Fang had a first love. President Fang was beautiful, rich, her dream wife.
Xie Jing swallowed a sip of wine, unsure what to say. She couldn’t exactly tell her that the first love was sitting right in front of her.
She gave an awkward smile. “I just came back to China recently… I don’t really know much about that.”
She made up a random excuse. Thankfully, Chen Yunqing didn’t push and just kept talking on her own.
“President Fang is so loyal! Still single after two years… I can’t imagine what kind of person that first love must be to capture her heart like that. Must think she’s a princess and only a prince
is good enough for her.”
Hearing this, Xie Jing took a few more sips.
She didn’t comment—mainly just listened to Chen Yunqing vent.
“I plan to confess to her later. Do you know what kind of flowers she likes?” Chen Yunqing noticed Xie Jing’s face was getting red and worried she was getting tipsy. She swapped her wine for juice
and even kindly pushed a plate of desserts toward her.
Unable to refuse, Xie Jing picked up a piece and smiled as she ate. “No idea, haha.”
“She never told me.”
They continued chatting aimlessly until someone walked toward them.
“Yunqing, who are you chatting with? You seem so happy.”
Chen Qianqian had also come to the party. She had spotted Yunqing from afar and came over to say hello.
“This is Xie Jing, a friend of President Fang’s.” Chen Yunqing introduced her new friend and then turned to Xie Jing. “This is the cousin I mentioned.”
When Xie Jing met Chen Qianqian’s eyes, both of them froze.
Xie Jing: “Cough cough cough—”
Chen Qianqian: “It’s you?!”
Chen Yunqing: “You two know each other?”
“We do. This is the one I told you about—President Fang’s first love of two years.”
President Fang had kept her distance from Chen Qianqian back then because of Xie Jing. Ever since Xie Jing caught them once, President Fang had hardly had a meal with her again.
Though she never said it outright, it was obvious she was afraid her girlfriend would misunderstand. Chen Qianqian could guess with her toes that it was because of Xie Jing.
After that, she never saw the little girl around President Fang again. President Fang had also become colder and quieter.
Chen Qianqian had tried a few times to test the waters, but got no response. Eventually, she gave up and moved on.
Chen Yunqing: “???”
Xie Jing: “…”
Please let her explain.
