Wait, I Got in the Wrong Car (GL) - Chapter 21
“Who is that?” Yu Xuan’s voice slipped through clenched teeth as she stared coldly at the screen, where Lou Annie grinned broadly while holding a baby leopard. The room fell into complete silence.
She swept her gaze across everyone present, pausing on Mo Ying, who had just turned her back. “No one knows her?”
“Lou Annie!” Ni Xinyu turned to look and felt as if lightning had struck her straight from the heavens, scorching her inside and out.
When had sweetheart ever interacted with Lou Annie?
She could only recall the day of the talent show selection.
Her eyes instinctively flicked to Lou Anran, whose face was now so dark it seemed ink might drip from it. Ni Xinyu immediately shut her mouth and nudged a stunned Chu Shu with her elbow.
“Lou Annie, second young lady of the Lou family, known for its jewelry.” Chu Shu looked like she was about to cry as she tried to give Yu Xuan a warning glance, practically begging her to leave quickly. “Miss Mo should know best… Wait, where did she go?”
When everyone had turned their attention to the TV screen, Mo Ying had quietly tugged the equally confused Kong Rulan away. Once downstairs, she urged him, “Second Brother, where’s your car?”
Kong Rulan, unable to resist her persistence, took her to the underground parking lot. Along the way, he barely managed to speak a sentence. “You… you were being naughty, weren’t you?”
Mo Ying snorted. As the proud little princess of the mermaid clan, did she not care about pride?
Then, thinking of the little traitor in her belly who had such a knack for switching sides, she put on a mournful expression. “I can raise the baby fish myself. Second Brother, you’ll help me, right?”
Kong Rulan nodded. “Yes… yes, Lou—”
Once inside the car, Mo Ying patted the seat impatiently. “Second Brother, drive quickly. I want to take the baby fish to see your fish tank. Hurry.”
By the time Yu Xuan chased after them, there was no one in sight. Not even a trace of exhaust fumes was left. She immediately decided to track down that wretched Lou Annie first.
Once they were gone, the room that had been so lively moments before suddenly felt empty.
Ni Xinyu glanced at the heart-shaped pink balloons on the wall and the carefully arranged roses on the dining table. The luxurious suite had been meticulously decorated. She could easily guess why Lou Anran had brought Mo Ying here.
If someone had shown her this much effort, she would have been a little moved too, let alone sweetheart, who was still a blank canvas.
Still…
She turned her wheelchair and addressed the stunned Chu Shu. “I’ll stay next door tonight. Take me to the hospital for an IV tomorrow.”
Chu Shu saw the last guest out and dared not look directly at Lou Anran. In her memory, the boss had never been so quiet—
Bang!
Crackle—Rip.
The large LCD screen flickered violently from an impact, its image distorting with a loud buzzing. Lou Annie’s cheerful face fractured into a spiderweb pattern before clinging stubbornly to the wall.
A flash of resentment passed through Lou Anran’s calm eyes. She grabbed the ashtray from the coffee table and smashed it directly into Lou Annie’s face on the screen.
Bang! Smash!
The screen went black, then lit up again, flickering between the two states. Lou Annie’s broken smile on the screen looked increasingly eerie, unsettling to the eye. The worn-out LCD finally gave up with a last fizz and shattered completely.
Chu Shu was so startled by Lou Anran’s violent outburst that she pressed herself against the door, not daring to breathe. She feared she would be the next “screen” to be sacrificed.
For ten minutes, a deathly silence spread through the room. Lou Anran’s eyes finally glanced lightly at Chu Shu. “Find out when Lou Annie and Mo Ying started sneaking around behind my back. I want every detail.”
Even the intimate moments?
Boss, are you a masochist?
Despite her internal complaints, Chu Shu didn’t dare argue when Lou Anran was in this state. “Yes, Boss. Please wait a moment.”
Chu Shu was puzzled. When the boss returned to the country, she had already compiled detailed reports on every member of the Lou family from the past decade. Lou Annie’s records included everything from school to work.
“Strange. Nothing ever indicated Lou Annie had any interest in women.”
Can sexual orientation change just like that?
Ding—
She checked her phone. Ni Xinyu had sent a deadly question. “Tell me, can women get other women pregnant?!???”
The message hit like a bucket of ice water dumped over her head.
Chu Shu shivered and instinctively turned to warn Lou Anran. Earlier, they had all been frightened by Yu Xuan’s sudden outburst and rushed over in panic to stop a potential disaster. Then came the news like a nuclear bomb. Their minds had been completely sidetracked…
If not for Ni Xinyu’s message, she really would have spent the night wondering how Lou Annie had managed to hook up with the little beauty right under the boss’s nose.
Chu Shu stopped pacing and decided to investigate. Only with the facts could she report back.
When she returned holding the report, the suite looked like it had been hit by a tornado. The rose bouquet’s petals had been trampled into the floor. She handed over the documents.
Lou Anran extended her hand indifferently. “The report.”
Up close, Chu Shu saw several wine bottles sprawled out under the coffee table. One had a deep burgundy lipstick mark on it.
“Boss, there doesn’t seem to be any connection between Lou Annie and the little beauty.”
Lou Anran raised an eyebrow. “So?”
Chu Shu ventured, “I think the little beauty’s pregnancy might be entirely made up. Maybe Miss Yu just made a joke.”
The documents included more than just Lou Annie’s attempts to win over Lou family shareholders. There was even a research paper on the probability of pregnancy between women.
Lou Anran narrowed her eyes. “What do you mean?”
Chu Shu swallowed nervously. “Boss, in my experience, pregnancy between women is virtually impossible. If it does happen, it usually involves technology like incubators, stem cell engineering, or genetic manipulation. It would require mutual emotional commitment. So, the most likely scenario is that Miss Yu couldn’t stand seeing you two together and made up a huge lie.”
Lou Anran massaged her temples and mocked, “Yu Xuan would destroy a child’s reputation over something so petty? Do you even think before you speak?”
She thought back to the time the little one had barged into her office with those strange remarks…
Chu Shu, once so confident, was now filled with doubt. “If Yu Xuan wasn’t lying, then that means… the little beauty is actually pregnant!!!”
Lou Anran irritably flipped through two pages before slamming the report onto the coffee table. “Close the net.”
Chu Shu blinked. “What? You mean the Lou Annie situation?”
Lou Anran casually poured herself another glass of wine. Through its crimson swirl, she stared at the shattered television.
“What else?”
But just yesterday, you said to strike only when she made another mistake. You wanted to use it as the final blow to kick her out of the Lou family.
Isn’t this a bit rushed?
Chu Shu kept a straight face. “Understood, Boss.”
Lou Anran quietly sipped her wine. Before she realized it, she had finished several bottles. She had hoped to drown herself in alcohol, but the more she drank, the clearer her mind became.
Her thoughts kept circling back to Mo Ying’s bizarre words, Yu Xuan’s angry interrogation, and her deadly glare. They all pointed to one thing…
The little one was really pregnant.
But how?
They only had that one night. Sure, it was wild, but she wasn’t capable of getting a woman pregnant… right?
That night, many people tossed and turned because of Mo Ying’s pregnancy. Meanwhile, the girl herself, full and content, with new stylish clothes, slept peacefully in a swimming pool prepared by Kong Rulan.
After watching her for a while, Kong Rulan pulled out a treasured piece of white gauze and began tailoring it by hand, making slight adjustments to fit her measurements.
When Mo Ying woke up, the basket beside her already held over a dozen little outfits, all in soft white. She held one up against herself but found it was far too small. “Second Brother, are these clothes for the baby fish?”
The fabric was soft like mist, gentle and silky to the touch.
Kong Rulan focused on sewing, his needlework swift and dazzling.
Mo Ying gently touched her belly. “Second Brother, do you know when the baby fish will come out? She’ll be so happy to see the clothes you made.”
Kong Rulan’s hand trembled as he picked up the scissors, accidentally cutting a deep slit in the finished garment. He stammered, “I… I’ve never… given birth.”
So he had no idea?
Mo Ying began packing the tiny clothes into bags, counting them as she worked. “Fourth Sister would know.”
Kong Rulan’s hand slipped again, nearly ruining another piece. Afraid she would say something even more shocking next, he stopped sewing and began circling her nervously.
After a long silence, he finally managed, “No… she… doesn’t… know either.”
Mo Ying’s eyes widened in fear. “Then what do we do? I don’t know either.”
The two siblings exchanged helpless looks. Then they both pulled out their phones and searched, “How many months does a pregnant fish take to give birth?”
The answers varied wildly. The more Mo Ying read, the more confused she became.
“Second Brother, female fish can have difficult labor.”
Kong Rulan frowned. “You… you’re half human, half fish.”
Mo Ying breathed a small sigh of relief and kept scrolling until she found a relatively credible source.
“Early stages show pregnancy spots. I have golden flower buds. Fish tails curl upward. Mine does that all the time…”
Each line matched her perfectly. Mo Ying’s eyes widened in horror.
At the bottom of the page, the user had written:
If all of the above apply, congratulations. Your fish is about to give birth.
Mo Ying gasped. “Second Brother, I’m going to give birth!”
