Wait, I Got in the Wrong Car (GL) - Chapter 29
“Netizens have dug up so many details. There was even a post saying they’ve known each other for years. Back when Beauty Yu debuted, they were already acquainted. Remember that time she got secretly photographed on Bluestone Road? Ten to one, someone ran to her, and the next morning they left five minutes apart.”
“Maybe you’re just seeing what you want to see. It’s possible they’re just friends. A hug doesn’t mean much. Five minutes apart doesn’t prove they’re a couple either.”
“So your precious Beauty Yu isn’t allowed to own a house on Bluestone Road?”
“Fine, if everything before was coincidence, then how do you explain this latest photo? That’s Beauty Yu’s residence. Would you hug a stranger like that outside your own door?”
Wu Si slid over from beside Mo Ying to Wanqi Tianxin in a flash, eager to find stronger evidence. She pulled out her long-cherished forum post. “Look at their eyes in these two photos. So much love. And this one? Their gazes are way too intense.”
Although Wu Si and Wanqi Tianxin were seated right next to Mo Ying, their debate sounded like it was drifting in from a distant sky. Mo Ying craned her neck, trying to see the ‘loving’ photo, but Wu Si’s hands trembled so much she couldn’t make it out no matter how long she stared.
Chen Ruiling quietly cleaned up everyone’s trash. When she reached Mo Ying’s side, she picked up the beer can and gave it a shake. Empty. Then she looked at Mo Ying, who was quietly propping up her chin, her cheeks flushed like someone had mistakenly dabbed on blush, her brilliant green eyes misty.
“Xiao Yu’er?”
“Mm.”
Seeing her dazed response, Chen Ruiling turned to the other two, who were still arguing, and snapped, “Stop it. Xiao Yu’er is drunk.”
Wu Si, “!!!”
Wanqi Tianxin, “!!!”
The three of them crouched side by side in front of Mo Ying, their eyes wide with surprise. Mo Ying continued to smile at them, her eyes crinkling into soft, delighted slits.
“Xiao Yu’er, how many fingers am I holding up?”
“Smack.”
Mo Ying swatted away the hand in front of her. “My Fourth Sister is so pretty. She sings really well too. But I didn’t think she’d secretly date so many girlfriends behind our backs…” Her voice turned pouty. “She even lied and told me I was too young to fall in love. Hmph.”
The three looked at each other.
“Who’s her Fourth Sister?”
Mo Ying furrowed her brow, struggling to think. “You don’t know who my Fourth Sister is? You’re all so silly.”
They blinked at her.
Clearly very drunk. She was even starting to ramble.
Wanqi Tianxin scratched her head, exasperated. “She really can’t hold her liquor. One drink and she’s out.”
Chen Ruiling added, “She looks like someone who’s never touched alcohol. Even just a few degrees could do her in.”
Wu Si scratched her head too. “This is my first time seeing someone drunk and still so obedient. Such a sweetheart. It’s getting late. Should we head back?”
Before they could decide, Mo Ying suddenly bounced off the couch and clapped her small fishy head. “Oh no, I forgot about Lou Xiaohei.”
The three of them, “???”
“What’s Lou Xiaohei?”
“Lou Xiaohei?”
“A cat?”
Worried about her condition, they hurried after her, only for the bedroom door to slam and lock from inside.
“Xiao Yu’er?”
“Xiao Yu’er?”
“She didn’t fall asleep, did she?”
They scratched their heads outside the door, knocking repeatedly. No response. They waited a long while before finally giving up and leaving.
Inside the bedroom, Lou Anran was wrapped in a blanket, cradling the little fish who had willingly jumped into her arms. The faint scent of beer lingered on the girl’s body, which made Lou Anran frown. She lowered her voice.
“They gave you alcohol?”
Mo Ying’s golden tail slapped the mattress. A golden light flickered in her eyes, adding a mysterious glow to her already dazzling green gaze. “Lou Xiaohei, you hid so well. They didn’t even notice you.”
Lou Anran felt both angry and amused. She had deliberately come here, yet the little one kept hiding her like they were having a secret affair. She rubbed Mo Ying’s soft, pink cheeks, then pinched her cute little nose.
“I let you out for a little while and you go and get yourself drunk.”
Unable to breathe through her nose, Mo Ying smacked her hand away. “I’m not drunk.” To prove it, her tightly wrapped goldfish tail slipped out, teasing Lou Anran’s long, pale legs. She gave a quick swipe along the soles of her feet before darting away.
When she tried again, Lou Anran moved like lightning, grabbing the naughty tail. But Mo Ying was as slippery as an eel. She nearly slid off the bed, which was dangerously close.
After several failed attempts, Lou Anran’s patience wore thin. Her body reacted despite her restraint, a smoldering desire rising with each playful touch.
She pinched herself. After a cold shower, she had calmed down. As good as coupling might feel, it couldn’t compare to holding the little one in her arms every day and night.
Mo Ying flicked her tail proudly, her soft voice drawn out. “Lou Xiaohei, am I really drunk…”
Lou Anran leaned down and silenced her with a kiss. She brushed against the tip of Mo Ying’s tongue, deepening the kiss until the girl began to gently tap against her in protest. Only then did she pull back, leaving a lingering intimacy between them.
Mo Ying had gone limp from the kiss. Even her tail hung listlessly. Her golden eyes blinked slowly as she stared at Lou Anran. She licked her lips and declared, “Lou Xiaohei, you want to mate with me.”
Lou Anran chuckled softly. She leaned down and kissed the corner of Mo Ying’s lips again. “Yes. My little mermaid is so clever. Nothing gets past you.”
Mo Ying looked troubled. Her already limited brainpower, now dulled by alcohol, struggled. “But… Lou Xiaohei, you don’t have a tail.”
Lou Anran watched her contemplate the logistics with such seriousness. It was unbelievably charming. She couldn’t help but cup Mo Ying’s little face and pepper her with kisses.
“Aren’t you curious why I came today?”
Mo Ying squirmed at the affectionate kisses and buried her head into Lou Anran’s chest, trying to wipe away the lingering sensation. The question finally hit her. “Oh right, why did you come?”
Lou Anran knew most sea creatures were shameless and expecting this one to grow a conscience was wishful thinking. It was better to offer herself up.
She pressed her forehead to Mo Ying’s. “I heard you wanted someone to fall in love with. How about me?”
Mo Ying blinked. Her mind filled with images of her Fourth Sister’s endless stream of girlfriends. She nestled into Lou Anran’s arms, found a comfy position, and closed her eyes.
“Lou Xiaohei, I’m going to sleep.”
…
Mo Ying woke up to the sound of knocking that could bring the house down. She rubbed her pounding head, sat up in bed, and had a nagging sense she had forgotten something.
Still barefoot on the rug, she wiggled her toes before slowly opening the door.
“Wow, Xiao Yu’er, you okay?”
“I’m sleepy.”
“No more sleep! We’ve got to watch the rest of the competition. There are tons of great performances. Know your enemy and yourself, right? That way we’ll all make it to the finals together!”
Mo Ying didn’t want to move. She felt like she hadn’t truly woken up. But Wanqi Tianxin and her team weren’t having it. They dragged her all the way back to their private lounge from yesterday.
After a night together, the once chaotic room was now in order. Bonds had formed through shared accommodations. Everyone seemed more familiar except for Mo Ying.
The moment she staggered in, everyone turned to look at her before going back to their own business.
Mo Ying waved away the malice rushing toward her as if she were sleepwalking. She glanced around. The room was filled with colorful emotional threads. More than enough to satisfy her hunger, though some of the dark ones smelled putrid and foul.
Wanqi Tianxin, thinking Mo Ying was still half-asleep, quickly had Wu Si and Chen Ruiling bring over a chair and gently settled her into it.
“Good thing we finished our preliminary performances yesterday,” she muttered. “Otherwise, like this…”
Chen Ruiling noticed the unfriendly glances around them. “You’d better hide those things well. If someone finds them, it’ll be real trouble.”
Wu Si had spent the night obsessively listening to Beauty Yu’s debut song on repeat. When she saw Mo Ying nodding her little head energetically, she decided to sit beside her and nod along too. She even draped her coat over both their heads like a blanket. Before dozing off, she mumbled, “If things get worse, we’ll just settle everything tonight.”
Her words had barely faded when staff arrived with a basket. “Starting today, phones will be confiscated. Any hidden snacks in your suitcases must be handed over. Game consoles and electronics are prohibited during this period. If you absolutely must use your phone, you need to submit a request.”
That final sentence carried a heavy implication. Chen Ruiling frowned instinctively. She took the chance to visit the bathroom, and when she returned, she obediently handed over her phone.
Wanqi Tianxin groaned over her stashed goods. “Seriously? They were so lax yesterday. Why the sudden surprise check? Who can handle this?”
Chen Ruiling lowered her voice. “They probably don’t want us checking Weibo.”
“Why not?”
“Xiao Yu’er’s performance got leaked. Especially the part where she explained Su Bai’s love song. It’s trending and not in a good way.”
Wanqi Tianxin reached for her phone, only to remember it was gone. She cursed.
Online, a storm of hate was brewing against Mo Ying. Trolls, bandwagoners, and even direct insults filled the feeds, leaving Ni Xinyu dumbfounded.
She had missed escorting her singer to the show due to a follow-up medical check. Even while hooked to an IV in the hospital, she had kept an eye on her sweetheart’s every move.
Who would’ve guessed that just one day without supervision would unravel all the careful planning she had put into Mo Ying’s image?
Xiao Ai pounded away at the keyboard. “Boss Ni, I just deleted those comments, but new ones keep popping up in the forums. There’s clearly a paid smear campaign happening.”
Ni Xinyu carefully watched the short video that had gone viral. Mo Ying’s actual performance was edited out. Only the final exchange between her and Zhuang Yun remained. The clip was short but very clear.
Xiao Ai noticed her stormy expression. “Boss Ni… Could it be Su Bai?”
From a benefits perspective, Su Bai gained the most from the scandal. The ones attacking Mo Ying were likely his hardcore fans.
- “Don’t insult Teacher Su’s love song. Who is this brat? Doesn’t even understand the story behind it and dares to explain it wrong? How is she even on this show?”
- “If it weren’t for Teacher Su, I wouldn’t watch this garbage show.”
- “Who does she think she is? Daring to use my Su Su for clout? Gross.”
The comment section was overwhelmingly hostile. Everyone accused Mo Ying of trying to ride on Su Bai’s coattails.
Ni Xinyu had never expected the little one to go viral like this, becoming infamous instead of truly famous.
She skimmed the rest. “Given Su Bai’s current standing, if he really needs tactics like this to stay relevant, his career’s practically over. Besides, don’t forget. He’s got Guan Xiuniang. She wouldn’t do something so stupid.”
Meanwhile, Mo Ying had no idea about the storm raging online. She smacked her lips and stretched lazily, sensing something off.
“Is the show almost over?”
Wanqi Tianxin looked at her with a complicated expression. Seeing her still carefree, she figured it was better for Mo Ying to stay unaware.
“Xiao Yu’er, you really slept the entire day.”
Mo Ying glanced at the screen and saw Lou Annie walking onto the stage. Her fish eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. The shock sobered her up instantly.
“I need… the bathroom.”
Lou Annie joined the preliminaries, too?
As long as they didn’t run into each other, it was fine.
Still shaken from her careless comment before, Mo Ying walked in a daze. Then someone dragged her into the bathroom.
She didn’t even think to resist. But that scent was familiar. When she turned around, she said, “Lou Xiaohei, you’re here.”
Lou Anran covered her mouth. “Darling, do you remember what you promised me last night?”
Mo Ying tilted her head. “???”
She had slept the whole day. Her brain still wasn’t functioning. All she remembered was how happy she had been eating with Wanqi Tianxin and the others…
The chips were tasty. The wine, not so much.
Seeing her dazed look, Lou Anran kissed her forehead. “It’s okay if you don’t remember. I came to fulfill my duty as your official girlfriend.”
Mo Ying’s eyes went wide. Oh wow. She slept through everything and woke up with a girlfriend!
