Wait, I Got in the Wrong Car (GL) - Chapter 31
In the distance, Yu Xuan let out a screech like a marmot. Lou Anran gave Mo Ying, who was snuggled in her arms and looking up at her for guidance, an encouraging smile.
Mo Ying’s cheek pressed against a soft spot as she blinked innocently. Her long lashes brushed against that sensitive place, tickling Lou Anran’s heart. If the timing had been better…
Lou Anran had never imagined meeting the “family” in such an awkward setting. That step had been planned for much later. She remembered Yu Xuan as being rather difficult. From their last encounter, it was clear she was not someone easily dealt with.
Lou Anran pressed her lips into a thin line and glanced regretfully at her adorable little girlfriend nestled so sweetly in her arms. “Sweetheart, I don’t mind continuing this another time.”
Yu Xuan heard those words, and her eyes widened in shock. She stormed toward Lou Anran with righteous fury and forcefully pulled them apart. The shirt, tugged from both sides, gave way. Buttons scattered like pearls across the floor.
A rush of cool air swept over Lou Anran’s chest. Mo Ying, now held steady by Yu Xuan, blinked in confusion and stared blankly at the person who had interrupted her attempt to leave a mark. “Fourth Sister, why are you here?”
Yu Xuan’s temples throbbed. Her sunglasses had been knocked askew by Mo Ying’s head and now hung crookedly at the tip of her nose. She growled, “If I hadn’t arrived just now, what exactly were you two planning to do in broad daylight?”
As her gaze landed on her little sister’s wide-eyed innocence, Yu Xuan turned her wrath toward Lou Anran. “It must be your doing.”
Back at the banquet, Yu Xuan had sensed immediately that Lou Anran was a calculating woman. Now, the sight of that glaringly red bl00d tridacna bracelet only fueled her anger further.
Not to mention that time Lou Anran had invited her Fifth Sister to a hotel…
Once, then twice, then three times…
Yu Xuan’s eyes darkened. It felt like she had just unearthed something monumental.
Lou Anran gasped and quickly raised her hands to shield her exposed chest. “Sweetheart, shouldn’t you be the one covering for me? Your little girlfriend is about to be exposed to the world.”
She then cast a meaningful glance at Yu Xuan, her tone laced with provocation.
Little girlfriend? Outsider?
Yu Xuan’s vision turned black. Her eyes bore into Lou Anran’s smug face. Her fists clenched so tightly they cracked. It looked like she might pounce and devour her at any moment.
She tried to convince herself that it had been her own Fifth Sister who made the first move. Morally speaking, Lou Anran wasn’t entirely at fault.
Mo Ying looked at Lou Anran’s thoroughly ruined shirt and was stunned.
Lou Anran looked pitiful. “Sweetheart, I need a hug full of love.”
Yu Xuan, “…”
She had never met anyone so shameless.
Thinking about Lou Xiaohei’s new status as her girlfriend, Mo Ying reluctantly threw herself into her arms. She wrapped her arms around her and patted her back gently in a show of comfort. When she tried to pull away, Lou Anran locked her in a firm embrace and refused to let go.
Mo Ying tilted her head in confusion. “Lou Xiaohei?”
Lou Anran whispered, “As long as you’re holding me, I won’t be exposed anymore.”
She then turned to Yu Xuan, who looked like she was about to faint. “Could I trouble Fourth Sister to bring me a change of clothes? If I go out like this, all three of us might end up trending online.”
Yu Xuan nearly choked.
Who the hell are you calling Fourth Sister, you shameless creature?
By the time Lou Anran had draped herself in a bedsheet and gone upstairs, half an hour had passed.
Yu Xuan’s face was still dark when she saw Lou Anran lounging shamelessly on the sofa. Seething, she grabbed a bewildered Mo Ying and dragged her into the bedroom. She slammed the door shut and locked it before confronting her. “Fifth Sister, tell me honestly. When did you get involved with Lou Anran? Why did she just say you’re her girlfriend?”
Mo Ying’s eyes sparkled as they darted around. “Oh right, Lou Xiaohei is my little girlfriend now. Fourth Sister, didn’t I tell you?”
Yu Xuan’s face twitched. Thinking of Lou Anran’s character made her eyelid spasm. “Fifth Sister, then what about Lou Annie?”
Lou Annie?
Just hearing the name made Mo Ying’s fish brain throb. “Fourth Sister, she’s annoying. Lou Xiaohei isn’t annoying.”
Yu Xuan was stunned. She had gone through so much trouble to sneak Lou Annie into the second season of Sing for the Song, and now she was being dismissed like this.
“Fifth Sister, Lou Anran is the truly dangerous one. You have no idea what she’s done recently.”
Mo Ying tilted her head. “Did Lou Xiaohei do something?”
Yu Xuan nearly choked. “She set Lou Annie up. Because of her, the Lou family lost nearly a hundred million. She’s a complete lunatic. Lou Annie was even kicked out of the board of directors by the old man. If she can be that heartless to her own sister, she’ll definitely treat you the same way one day.”
Mo Ying raised her fish tail and gave it a lazy little swish.
Yu Xuan had argued until her lips were dry, but her Fifth Sister didn’t seem fazed at all. It was infuriating.
“Break up with Lou Anran. If you really want to experience love, find someone else. I think Lou Annie is a hundred times better than Lou Anran.”
Mo Ying remembered all the things that Book Lou Annie had done to Book Mo Ying and shook her head vigorously. “No, no, no. Lou Xiaohei just agreed to be my girlfriend. I can’t be two-timing. That would make me a scummy fish who doesn’t take responsibility.”
Yu Xuan, “…”
Her Fifth Sister was pregnant with Lou Annie’s child, yet now she was in a relationship with Lou Anran. And those two were sisters.
Yu Xuan really wanted to explain that wavering between two sisters already made her a top-tier scummy fish.
Getting involved with the other mother of the fish baby while staying ambiguous with Lou Anran made her the scummiest of scummy fish.
Mo Ying saw Yu Xuan’s worried face. “Fourth Sister, I don’t like Lou Annie. Lou Xiaohei is very nice. She’s helped me so many times, and she’s my first little girlfriend.”
Lou Xiaohei had even seen her fish tail and complimented its beauty.
After speaking, Mo Ying hesitated. Her gaze on Yu Xuan became thoughtful, as if she was holding something back. Then she remembered her Fourth Sister’s long list of ex-girlfriends…
There were just too many to count.
Yu Xuan was puzzled. She had only suggested breaking up, but now her Fifth Sister was looking at her like she was some kind of hypocrite. Why did she feel like she was being judged?
Clearly, a direct approach wasn’t going to work.
Yu Xuan decided to try a more subtle method. “Lou Anran helped you a lot?”
Maybe she really had judged her too harshly.
Mo Ying nodded. “Yes, Lou Xiaohei even fought with me. She helped me find food.”
Loyal and reliable. A real friend.
Yu Xuan was speechless. “That red stone bracelet on Lou Anran’s wrist… what is it?”
Mo Ying dodged. “Toll. She gave me a ride for a long stretch. I left in a rush and didn’t bring many small stones. I handed out a few and ran out.”
Yu Xuan coaxed her into the bathtub, closed the bedroom door, and found Lou Anran had already changed. She sat gracefully on the sofa with her legs crossed and a laptop in hand, radiating a cold presence that kept everyone at a distance. The clingy woman who had just been downstairs with her Fifth Sister had completely vanished.
Such a changeable woman.
Yu Xuan chose a seat across from her and, as expected, saw that same bl00d-red tridacna bracelet wrapped around her wrist. Thinking of her Fifth Sister jumping between the two siblings, she wasn’t sure whether to feel sorry for Lou Anran or despise her more.
Still, the sharp angles of her profile, focused as she stared at the screen, really did explain why her Fifth Sister might be smitten. “Lou Anran, we need to talk.”
Lou Anran closed her laptop and could not resist teasing, “Not calling me President Lou anymore?”
Yu Xuan did not flinch. “I didn’t quite catch that ‘Fourth Sister’ earlier. Why don’t you say it again so I can hear it clearly?”
Lou Anran played along. “Fourth Sister.”
Yu Xuan, “…”
She had meant to catch Lou Anran off guard, but somehow she ended up being the one played. There was no satisfaction in this so-called victory.
“Since you’re my Fifth Sister’s new girlfriend, you must know she’s pregnant. Do you not care at all?”
Over the years Yu Xuan had spent living among humans, she had come to understand how seriously they treated relationships. They were nothing like mermaids. For mermaids, baby fish were ever-present, while romantic partners came and went without much weight.
“You were there that day. You heard her say the child is Lou Annie’s. Your sister’s.”
Lou Anran listened calmly and seemed surprised that Yu Xuan still hadn’t figured out that the baby fish was hers. “So, Fourth Sister, you’re saying—”
Yu Xuan cut in quickly. “Obviously, you should break up with her. You do not want the two of you, as sisters, to fall out because of my Fifth Sister. I am saying this for your own good.”
Lou Anran asked, “If it were Lou Annie sitting here, would you allow her to be with the little one?”
Yu Xuan’s forced smile twitched. Her brow furrowed in obvious disapproval.
Lou Anran swept her tongue across her teeth. The words “that baby fish is mine” nearly escaped, but she swallowed them down. It was clear Yu Xuan had no intention of letting the little one’s other mother stay close.
She smiled. “From my perspective, that idiot Lou Annie is completely unworthy of the little one. Only I am. We are in a passionate relationship. Wouldn’t it be a shame to break us apart?”
Yu Xuan, “…”
She hated Lou Anran’s arrogant confidence. Many times, she had wanted to slap that smug face.
“You think just dating my Fifth Sister means you’ve won?” She glanced at the tridacna bracelet on Lou Anran’s wrist. “I said this before. That bracelet doesn’t mean anything. If Fifth Sister truly loves someone, she’ll give them the anklet made of golden beads.”
Lou Anran swirled the bracelet in her hand. “Looks like Fourth Sister’s sense of fashion isn’t as sharp as Second Brother’s. We should all sit down someday and discuss current color trends. This bracelet is just an accessory. But thank you for the reminder. If that anklet really symbolizes her true heart, I will one day make sure she gives it to me willingly.”
Yu Xuan, “…”
Shameless creature.
Everything she had just seen was clearly a façade. Lou Anran was as infuriating as ever. But then Yu Xuan smiled with resolve. “We’ll see. I look forward to the day you actually get her to take it off.”
