Wait, I Got in the Wrong Car (GL) - Chapter 34
Ye Moli stood at an impressive 1.87 meters. As he moved through the crowd, he radiated an aura so potent that every subtle gesture drew screams from the women around him. When he reached Song Yuan, he leaned in slightly, stopping half a meter away. His voice was gentle as he spoke to the stunned woman. “I was a bit far earlier and could not hear clearly. Could you please repeat what you just said?”
Song Yuan found herself lost in his pale green eyes for several seconds, completely dazed. She ignored the dangerous curve of his smile, her heart racing like that of a girl falling in love for the first time. Her pulse hammered so fast it felt like it might leap from her chest. Under that deep gaze, her entire body seemed ready to boil. She touched her flushed cheeks and smoothed her hair with shy hands. If she had the chance, she would have rushed to the restroom to fix her makeup so she could meet this man looking her best. “I…”
Ye Moli encouraged her with a smile. “Speak.”
The sharp contrast before her was unbearable. The man beside her suddenly seemed fat, ugly, temperamental, and insufferably arrogant. Aside from a bit of money, he had nothing. Compared to the handsome man standing in front of her, he was worthless. Almost unconsciously, she pulled her hand back and pointed her toes outward in disdain.
Ye Moli noticed. His gaze shifted sideways and caught how the man beside Song Yuan was staring elsewhere, oblivious to the woman releasing his arm.
Straightening, Ye Moli towered above them. His expression cooled like the deep sea, and his smile darkened with wicked intent. His meaning was clear when he spoke. “Zhou Jewelry’s taste in recent years is astonishing. Even flawed pieces like this are admitted. Personally, I despise counterfeits.”
What excellent taste.
Song Yuan nodded quickly, only realizing moments later what he meant. Then she turned and shouted at Mo Ying’s group. “Didn’t you hear him? Get out already. Do you want the security guards to drag you away?”
Mo Ying blinked in confusion, her mind swimming with questions.
Wanqi Tianxin had seen Ye Moli’s photo in her brother’s phone. She knew the entire auction was essentially arranged for this man. He was not someone to provoke. Quietly, she slipped into a corner to call for backup.
Wu Si could not stand Song Yuan’s arrogance and muttered loudly to Chen Ruiling, making sure the onlookers heard. “Is this woman delusional? Just because she is some sugar baby, she thinks she is above everyone.”
Before Chen Ruiling could answer, Song Yuan’s shrill voice cut through the air. “You butch freak, what nonsense are you spouting!”
Wu Si was sturdier than most women, but she was far from the masculine image the insult suggested. Just as a full-blown fight was about to erupt—
Ye Moli’s mocking smile widened. He looked at the furious Song Yuan and said, “A defective item who has had three rounds of facial surgery dares to cause a scene in public? Who gave you the courage?”
Everyone, “!!!”
Plastic surgery? Three times?
Even a flawless face would be ruined by that. The thought alone sent chills through the crowd.
The women exchanged looks and, without a word, all took a step back.
The sudden turn left everyone stunned. Even Song Yuan was struck dumb. She stood frozen, unable to believe what she had heard. Ye Moli’s elegant smile remained, his gaze deceptively tender. “You… what did you just say?”
Ye Moli gave her a bored glance, mocking her inability to grasp his words. He chuckled and turned to the man beside her. “Hey, have you ever seen her original, mangled face?”
He traced graceful lines across his own features with a beautiful hand. Every movement was elegant, even noble, yet the wicked grin on his lips chilled the air. A cold wave swept through the room.
The man, “!!!”
Startled, his eyes shifted to Song Yuan with suspicion and fury. Thinking of the nights spent holding her, a shiver ran down his spine. “Didn’t you say this face was natural? How dare you lie to me—”
Smack.
Half of Song Yuan’s face was struck sideways. Her makeup and smile collapsed at once. Rage twisted her features, but when she turned back, she forced her voice into a coy tone. The bruised half of her face made the act grotesque. “Darling, how could you believe a few words from him? Touch it. Isn’t my face real?”
She leaned against her man, clinging like soft spring water. He hesitated, patting his round belly, visibly conflicted.
“Mr. Ye, please wait!”
A chubby man pushed through the crowd at the entrance, panting and wiping sweat from his forehead. Seeing the chaos, he snapped, “What is going on? Why are you blocking the doorway? Security? Security!”
The guards stiffened at the sound of their young master’s voice. “Young Master Zhou.”
Zhou Liuyu’s sharp eyes spotted Ye Moli immediately. He shoved a guard aside and said, “Mr. Ye.” His gaze swept over the crowd before he smiled broadly. “Is this a reunion with old friends?”
Ye Moli’s tone was cool. “Brother Zhou, this does not match what your people told me.”
Zhou Liuyu’s sweat poured down like rain. He forced a smile. “Mr. Ye, perhaps there has been some misunderstanding?”
He searched for support, but no one came forward to help. His hands trembled as he wiped away more sweat.
Ye Moli watched him playfully. “Not going to get the full story first?”
“Oh? Isn’t this Young Master Zhou? A pleasure.”
“You are…?”
Song Yuan’s man quickly bowed and flattered him, then glanced at Ye Moli. “This must be a distinguished guest you invited. Just a small misunderstanding earlier. Why don’t you introduce us?”
Ye Moli’s reply was cold. “There is no misunderstanding.”
The crowd froze.
Zhou Liuyu began sweating even harder. A guard leaned close and whispered in his ear. He roared in frustration. “What were you thinking, letting in people who do not belong? Especially some plastic surgery cases. People will start wondering if Zhou Jewelry is now selling flawed pieces. Do you understand?”
The guard nodded quickly. His eyes flicked to Mo Ying’s group. If he had thrown them out earlier, he would probably already be packing his belongings.
A chill ran down his back as sweat dripped despite the air conditioning. “Then…”
Zhou Liuyu barked, “Throw them out, of course!”
Song Yuan’s man looked confused. “Wait, is he a plastic surgeon or something?”
A trained surgeon could easily spot cosmetic work that others could not.
Seeing Ye Moli’s smile fade, Zhou Liuyu clenched his teeth. “This gentleman is the Vice President of the International Jewelry Association. My father invited him multiple times before he agreed to come. You blind fool, get out.”
He waved impatiently at the guards. “Throw those two out of the auction. From now on, they are banned from all Zhou family venues and shops.”
He muttered, “Who knows how they even got invitations. Mr. Ye, does this arrangement satisfy you?”
Ye Moli neither confirmed nor denied. Instead, he gave a radiant smile and spread his arms wide.
Zhou Liuyu stood awkwardly, unsure what to do, when a graceful figure darted forward and threw herself into Ye Moli’s arms. “Third Brother!”
Ye Moli lifted her without hesitation and spun her joyfully before remembering the setting. “Xiao Wu, when did you come out?”
Mo Ying tiptoed to whisper in his ear, matching his tone. “It has been a few months. Things are lively here, and it’s a lot of fun. I even found lots of food. I ran into Fourth Sister and Second Brother as well. Look, Second Brother made this outfit for me. Isn’t it pretty?”
Ye Moli’s eyes softened with warmth. “It is lovely. He has always been your personal designer.”
As the two embraced with joy, the surrounding crowd was left stunned.
Especially Wanqi Tianxin’s group. When Ye Moli first appeared, they thought disaster had struck. Then came the twist. When Zhou Liuyu revealed his true identity, and Mo Ying herself added to the shock…
“Tianxin, I am sorry. I tried everything but could not secure what Miss Mo deserved.” Wanqi Tianhan’s lips were dry from pleading. His position in the company left him powerless.
“Do not give up, Brother. Maybe fate is giving us another chance. Look over there.”
Wanqi Tianhan followed her gaze. He first saw Zhou Liuyu fuming, then caught sight of Ye Moli laughing with Mo Ying.
“Looks like… there is hope after all.”
