Weak A, She Just Wants to Live to the End (GL) - Chapter 1
“Ding ding ding…” Lin Anan’s phone rang abruptly.
She didn’t need to reach for it; she knew from the ringtone alone that it was her good friend and assistant, Wu Xixi, calling.
This was a special ringtone that Wu Xixi had set for her, saying that hearing this old-fashioned and startling sound would serve as a constant reminder that they were modern people, they had to work hard to earn money and survive, and then figure out a way to get back to their real lives.
Lin Anan answered the phone, and Wu Xixi’s voice immediately flew through the line: “Waaah… Anan, I fell down.”
“Are you okay? Did you fall off your bike?” Lin Anan sat up from the sofa, shaking her dizzy, feverish head. “Is it serious? Don’t you dare leave me here alone.”
Wu Xixi whimpered a few times, her voice mixed with the sound of car horns. “I won’t, Anan, don’t worry. I just fell, and now my ankle is sprained. It hurts a bit, and I can’t drive.”
“So, how about you help me deliver the flowers to the customer? It’s not too far.”
Lin Anan looked at the pitch-black night outside and worried, “Me? You’re familiar with this world since you created it, but I don’t know the way at all.”
“Anan, please just try. If you can’t find it, then forget about it,” Wu Xixi said dejectedly. “If we don’t complete this order and get a complaint from the customer, they’ll deduct several hundred from our salary.”
“If we don’t have money, we’ll be eating dirt at the end of the month, and then you probably won’t have money to buy your suppressants and blockers.”
Money talks, and Lin Anan had no choice but to reluctantly agree.
Half a month ago, she had just finished her college entrance exams and was listening to her friend Wu Xixi talk about the new ABO entertainment novel she had written. They discussed it until the middle of the night, and when they were too tired to stay awake, they fell asleep together on the bed.
When they woke up, the two of them had inexplicably transmigrated into this very ABO entertainment novel.
They had just woken up and hadn’t figured out the situation yet when a handsome man opened the door and burst in, and without a word, he and a few others directly kicked them out onto the street with a pile of messy luggage.
The two of them stood on the street, stunned for about ten minutes, before Wu Xixi finally guessed from the situation in front of them that they had likely transmigrated. Lin Anan’s gland on the back of her neck confirmed their guess.
Wu Xixi sorted through the clues from the half-hour since they had transmigrated and finally began to remember the plot she had written.
Lin Anan had likely become a minor cannon fodder celebrity with the same name, no power or influence, and a newly differentiated, weak Alpha.
If the original setting was correct, the handsome man who had just kicked them out was the male protagonist of this novel, Bai Yunshuang.
The reason they were kicked out by the male protagonist was because Lin Anan’s character was Bai Yunshuang’s kept ex-girlfriend, a cannon fodder.
At this time, Bai Yunshuang was also an unknown minor celebrity, and his character was set up to be a slightly weaker Alpha, just like Lin Anan. He had been waiting for Lin Anan to differentiate into an Omega so he could offer her to a certain director and get a chance to act in that director’s movie.
But after a long wait, Lin Anan finally fainted in the dressing room yesterday afternoon while differentiating, only to turn into an even weaker Alpha.
Furious, Bai Yunshuang kicked Lin Anan out of his house.
And the reason Wu Xixi was kicked out with her was because she was Lin Anan’s assistant, and she had transmigrated as a Beta with the same name. After bringing Lin Anan back in the afternoon, she had been in the room taking care of the unconscious Lin Anan.
The original owners of the bodies having the same names as them was entirely thanks to Wu Xixi.
Wu Xixi, the lazy author, couldn’t be bothered to come up with names for the supporting characters, so she just used her and Lin Anan’s names for the 18th-tier supporting characters in the novel.
When the novel was updated, Wu Xixi had even called Lin Anan to take credit, saying that their names would live forever in the novel.
But that same night, they both transmigrated in, and no matter how hard they tried, they couldn’t get back out.
For the past half-month, Lin Anan had been tormented by the intense susceptible period of her first differentiation because she had no Omega pheromones to soothe her.
And since Bai Yunshuang had abandoned Lin Anan, all her upcoming advertising contracts had been snatched away by other young actors from the same company, leaving her with no other source of income.
For Lin Anan’s safety, the two of them could only use their remaining money to rent a cheap room, then buy suppressants and blockers for Lin Anan so she could rest at home first.
During the day, Wu Xixi would go to work, and at night, she would loyally take on part-time jobs through a food delivery app to ensure Lin Anan could safely get through her susceptible period.
Lin Anan got dressed, looked at her flushed face in the mirror, and injected half a dose of suppressant into herself. After her face returned to normal, she sprayed some blocker on herself and the gland on the back of her neck.
Then she leaned against the door frame for a moment, and after the dizziness subsided, she put on a mask and went out.
She walked downstairs, pulled out Wu Xixi’s old bicycle from the corner, took out her phone, and began to decipher the address Wu Xixi had sent her. She entered it into the navigation and followed the route outside.
After a difficult half-month, she was finally getting used to the feverish and nauseating feeling of her susceptible period.
When she first transmigrated, she had fainted several times from the heat and the uncomfortable churning inside her body. Although Wu Xixi, a Beta, had a faint pheromone scent, it was clearly not compatible with hers. It wasn’t repelling, but it didn’t provide any relief.
Thankfully, after a week, these symptoms slowly began to lessen. But before she could get through the first fierce susceptible period, a second one came, so she had been resting at home in a daze for half a month without going out.
The suppressant was currently working, and with the cool breeze outside, she felt truly alive again.
The flower shop was indeed very close; it took less than ten minutes to get to the front of the shop by bike.
After Lin Anan matched the verification code with the flower shop owner, she picked up the bouquet of roses the customer had custom-ordered.
Taking the bouquet from the owner, she couldn’t help but feel her spirits lift, and the slight heat in her heart was swept away.
It was a bouquet of rainbow roses, sprinkled with gold glitter. Under the light of the flower shop, they were breathtakingly beautiful. Although they weren’t necessarily priceless, one look told you they were a rare variety that needed to be pre-ordered.
Even though they weren’t for her, being able to hold them and look at them up close was a happy thought.
The flower shop owner saw the sparkle in Lin Anan’s eyes and smiled with understanding. “Is this your first time seeing them?”
Lin Anan nodded. “They’re so beautiful. They must be very expensive, right?”
The flower shop owner shook his head, his gaze gentle. “The price is reasonable, it’s just difficult to pre-order.”
“We rarely have customers who pre-order these rainbow roses, because it takes several months to get them. Be careful with them, little girl.”
Lin Anan quickly agreed and asked the flower shop owner to wrap the flowers well so she could carry them on her back to avoid accidentally bending them.
The customer’s address was a bit farther. Following the navigation, Lin Anan rode for half an hour before she reached the vicinity of the customer’s address.
She looked around and finally found the main entrance of the Shuxiang residential area, which was listed on the address. But at the gate, there was only one security guard standing there; no one was waiting to receive the flowers.
Lin Anan took out her phone, asked Wu Xixi for the customer’s phone number, and called it.
The phone rang for a short while before it was answered, and a low, sad female voice came through: “Hello? Where are you? I’ve been waiting for you for so long…”
Lin Anan was stunned. She took the phone away and checked the number, and after confirming she hadn’t dialed the wrong one, she put the phone back to her ear and said gently, “Hello, ma’am, this is Strawberry Delivery. Your custom-ordered roses have arrived.”
“I’m at the main entrance of the Shuxiang residential area right now. Where are you?”
She thought the person on the other end of the line was speaking strangely. She must have mistaken her for someone else.
The female voice on the other end seemed to sniffle and then said, “I’m by the flowerbed. Just come here.”
Lin Anan hung up the phone, asked the security guard for directions to the flowerbed, and walked over with the roses on her back.
There was indeed a girl sitting by the flowerbed. She was wearing a plain tracksuit, her long hair loosely tied with a hair tie. Her profile, illuminated by the distant lights, had an indescribable, delicate beauty.
As Lin Anan got closer, she could see that the girl’s cheeks were slightly red. She was holding a bottle of wine, the brand of which was unidentifiable, and more than half of the wine was gone, which meant the girl had drunk a lot.
The girl was staring intently at the air in front of her, her eyes a bit hazy and unfocused.
As Lin Anan approached, a faint, not-too-strong scent of mint mixed with the alcohol-filled air. For some reason, Lin Anan found this scent pleasant. When she inhaled it, her mind cleared a bit.
Lin Anan couldn’t help but sniff the scent, but she didn’t dare get too close, because Wu Xixi had told her that in the ABO world, scents attracted and balanced each other. If she met someone strong, her weak Alpha could easily be harmed.
And because she was new to this world, she was still very unfamiliar with controlling her pheromones, and she was in her susceptible period, so it was best not to get too close to anyone, or she might lose control.
She stood two meters away from the girl, pulled at her mask, and pulled up the customer information Wu Xixi had sent her. She asked politely, “Hello, are you Ms. Xi Nan?”
The girl turned her head and glanced at Lin Anan, and answered a non-sequitur: “You finally came to find me.”
Then she frowned slightly and added, “What Xi Nan? I’m Xiao Xi. Have you forgotten me so quickly?”
After she finished speaking, she turned back and continued to stare at the air in front of her, then raised her hand and took a gulp of wine.
Lin Anan was confused by the girl’s words. She opened her phone and looked at the order screenshot Wu Xixi had sent her. The name on it was indeed Xi Nan; she hadn’t said the wrong name.
She had no choice but to call the number she had just dialed again.
After just one second, the phone next to the girl rang on cue.
It seemed she hadn’t found the wrong person. The customer she was looking for must be the girl in front of her.
Lin Anan hung up the phone, took the bouquet off her back, and took it out of the bag. She took a small step forward and held it out to the girl. “Ms. Xi Nan, these are the roses you custom-ordered. Please sign for them. And please give us a five-star review.”
The girl, who had ignored the phone ringtone, finally turned her head to look at the roses in Lin Anan’s hand. She slowly blinked. “Why are you so cruel? If you don’t have flowers, you won’t come to find me, will you?”
“…” Lin Anan took a small step closer, involuntarily taking two sniffs of the minty scent, and explained, “You might have the wrong person? I’m just a delivery person. These are the flowers you ordered.”
The girl’s eyes were full of loneliness. “Since you don’t want to see me, and you don’t want the flowers, then just throw them away.”
Lin Anan: “…”
This young lady’s words were all over the place, and she was drinking here so late. Could she have been heartbroken?
But even if she was heartbroken, she couldn’t mistake me, a woman, for a man, right?
Lin Anan took two more steps, walked over to the girl’s side, and tried to hand the bouquet to her. Suddenly, a strong scent of mint wafted over. The scent, mixed with the air, entered her body, and after a moment of unspeakable comfort, it suddenly turned into a wave of dizziness.
A faint heat surged up in her heart, and she felt her whole body temperature rise a bit.
