Weak A, She Just Wants to Live to the End (GL) - Chapter 6
The two of them stared at each other for two seconds, stunned.
Lin Anan acted as if the phone was a hot potato and quickly threw it between them.
While they were thinking about what to do, Yu Nanxi’s call automatically disconnected because no one answered. Just as they were about to let out a sigh of relief, the phone’s ringtone went crazy again, making their hearts jump into their throats.
Their nerves were stretched thin by the incessant ringing. They looked at the phone as if it were a venomous snake, neither daring to reach out and touch it. It was as if a single touch would result in a bite and instant death by poison.
But the phone was uncooperative. The calls came in one after another. In the end, it even changed numbers and kept calling, showing a relentless determination to not give up until someone answered.
Lin Anan’s nerves were finally at their breaking point. She tremblingly extended her finger, tapped “decline,” and then, not wanting to give the other party another chance to call, she pressed the power button to shut it down.
She had originally given up all hope and thought about just “turning herself in” to Yu Nanxi to see if there was any way to make amends and compensate her.
Unlike Wu Xixi, who felt the same way, Lin Anan still held a glimmer of hope. She thought that the Yu Nanxi she “slept with” wasn’t as terrifying as Wu Xixi had described.
Maybe if she communicated with Yu Nanxi properly, there would still be room for a peaceful resolution.
But seeing Yu Nanxi’s furious bombardment of phone calls, she knew the anger couldn’t be quelled in a short amount of time. So she decided to turn off her phone for now and reconsider the matter of “turning herself in” to Yu Nanxi.
Wu Xixi saw what Lin Anan was thinking. She wiped the cold sweat from her forehead, let out a sigh of relief, and said in a soothing voice, “Anan, you did the right thing. Let’s think about it some more, think about a plan.”
The two of them discussed for several hours, and the sky began to turn a soft gray. In the end, they still had very few ideas.
They were so exhausted that they just lay down on the bed and were immediately pulled into a deep sleep.
After the sun was fully up, Lin Anan, still in her susceptible period, stayed home to catch up on sleep. Wu Xixi, on the other hand, took her spare key and was going to ride her old bicycle from the entrance of the Shuxiang residential area to work and then ride it back in the evening.
After all, they were both dirt-poor, and the bicycle was one of their last remaining possessions. They couldn’t just lose it.
After Wu Xixi left, Lin Anan slept again. She only got up when her stomach was so hungry she couldn’t stand it. She cooked herself a bowl of noodles and finally found some good news: after her “one-night stand” with Yu Nanxi, her susceptible period had miraculously ended.
She felt completely refreshed.
It was the most comfortable day she had had since she transmigrated.
After eating the noodles, feeling bored, she tried to turn on her phone. But the sight of over a hundred missed calls made her resolutely press the power button again.
She went back to sleep and stayed in bed until evening. Then she got ready, sprayed a light layer of blocker, and went downstairs to wait for Wu Xixi, wanting to share the good news about her recovery with her as soon as possible.
But the sky grew darker, and there was still no sign of Wu Xixi at the intersection.
Lin Anan comforted herself. Wu Xixi had sprained her ankle yesterday. Although it was a minor sprain, it still hurt, so it was reasonable for her to be walking slowly.
Time passed incredibly slowly. Just as Lin Anan was getting impatient and was about to go to the street to check on her, Wu Xixi slowly limped around the corner.
When she saw Lin Anan walking toward her, she said dejectedly, “Anan, we can’t get our bicycle back.”
Lin Anan walked closer and reached out to help Wu Xixi. “Huh? Why can’t we get it back? Was it stolen?”
“It wasn’t stolen,” Wu Xixi said in a low voice. “When I found the bicycle, there was a man smoking next to it, looking at me suspiciously.”
Lin Anan was confused. “Suspiciously? What did he want?”
“He later… took our bicycle away…” Wu Xixi said as she walked.
Lin Anan was puzzled. “What? Why? Why didn’t you tell him? You should have told him it was ours and that we had the key. He would have believed you.”
Wu Xixi sighed. “I couldn’t get it back because that man was one of Yu Nanxi’s people.”
In the morning, Wu Xixi had taken the bus and finally found the main gate of the Shuxiang residential area. Then, following Lin Anan’s description, she successfully found the bicycle in the corner.
Just as she was about to approach it to unlock it, the smoking man standing next to it turned and looked at her, his eyes filled with suspicion. He looked her up and down.
Wu Xixi instinctively felt that the man’s gaze was strange, so she decided to pretend she was just passing by and walked past the bicycle.
After she had walked a distance, she pretended to turn around to look at the scenery in the distance, and in her peripheral vision, she saw that the smoking man was still watching her. That’s when she knew her premonition was correct.
Since it was still early, Wu Xixi hid nearby and observed him for a while. She saw that the man’s eyes were darting around, looking at his surroundings. At one point, he even made a phone call to someone named “Manager Chen.”
Because she was too far away, she couldn’t hear him clearly, but she vaguely heard him say things like “round face, big eyes Beta,” “didn’t see the person,” and “no one’s here.” It was then that she was sure this person was indeed here to catch Lin Anan.
Wu Xixi leaned on the railing of the stairs. “He stayed there because Yu Nanxi sent him to catch you.”
Lin Anan was in disbelief. “…Xixi, could you be wrong?”
Even though Yu Nanxi had called her over a hundred times, she never thought that Yu Nanxi would be the kind of villainous second female lead Wu Xixi had described.
“I’m not wrong,” Wu Xixi said. “I waited for a while longer, and he took our bicycle right in front of me.”
Just as Lin Anan said, Wu Xixi initially doubted her own judgment. So, she waited for a while longer, hoping she was wrong and that the man would leave quickly.
But as work time approached, the streets became crowded. Wu Xixi was about to be late for work, but the man was still walking back and forth within five meters of the bicycle.
In the end, Wu Xixi reluctantly left the Shuxiang residential area. Losing the bicycle was a small matter, but if they lost their jobs, they probably wouldn’t be able to survive until Yu Nanxi came to take revenge on them.
Wu Xixi waited and waited at the company until evening. When she finally arrived at the main gate of the Shuxiang residential area on the bus, she was shocked to see that the smoking man was still there.
At this point, Wu Xixi could finally confirm that the man was indeed there to stake out Lin Anan.
She reluctantly decided to wait for another half an hour. If the man still didn’t leave, she would give up on the bicycle. After all, compared to the bicycle, their lives were more important.
But things had already gone wrong.
Before Wu Xixi had waited for half an hour, the man finished a cigarette, made a phone call, and after hanging up, he lifted the bicycle and took it away right in front of Wu Xixi’s expectant eyes.
The man forcefully crammed the bicycle into a small car on the side of the road. Then he opened the door, got into the driver’s seat, started the engine, and drove off, leaving Wu Xixi with her hands outstretched in despair.
“…” Lin Anan was speechless.
Wu Xixi looked at Lin Anan’s still-hesitant eyes and said in a voice filled with frustration, “Anan, you have to believe me. I’m her creator. I’m telling you, in my original character setting, Yu Nanxi was exactly like this.”
The atmosphere grew cold again. Neither of them knew how to describe their terrible luck.
Wu Xixi was about to rest for a bit and then use Lin Anan’s arm to climb the stairs. But before she could lift her foot, her phone “ding-donged,” and a message came in.
Wu Xixi took out her phone. The screen showed a message in red. The first two words were in bold: Complaint.
She quickly unlocked her phone and tapped on the red message. After a few seconds of buffering, the link opened to the Strawberry Delivery app’s order management page, along with a one-star review.
Wu Xixi: “…”
Lin Anan: “…”
The two of them looked at each other. They didn’t even need to open it to know that the one-star review was from Yu Nanxi’s order.
This method of revenge was indeed very “Yu Nanxi.” Not only did she give a bad review, but she also filed a complaint. Combined, these two things would deduct several hundred yuan from their pay.
The reason for the complaint was that the customer had paid but did not receive the rainbow roses.
The two of them were dumbfounded, their jaws dropped by Yu Nanxi’s actions.
But before they could fully digest the shock, Wu Xixi’s phone suddenly started ringing frantically, startling her so much that she almost dropped it and broke it.
Wu Xixi fumbled to hold onto her phone and pressed the answer button. “Hello, Manager Zhang, hello.”
Manager Zhang from Strawberry Delivery said in a passive-aggressive tone, “Xiao Wu, you were doing so well with your deliveries before. What’s wrong this time?”
“Where did you take the customer’s roses? Hurry up and return them, or the customer will sue our platform.”
Wu Xixi looked at Lin Anan and said with a wry smile, “Manager Zhang, if I told you that I really did deliver the roses, would you believe me?”
Not only did Lin Anan deliver them, but the “corpses” of those roses were still at Yu Nanxi’s house.
Manager Zhang grew a little anxious and said earnestly, “Xiao Wu, why are you still lying? If you delivered them, would the customer complain? Would the customer give you a one-star review?”
“You say you delivered them, where’s the customer’s signature?”
“…” Wu Xixi was on the verge of tears. In Lin Anan’s memory, Yu Nanxi had indeed not signed the receipt.
“See? You can’t even provide proof. How am I supposed to believe you?” Manager Zhang hesitated. “Or… is there some misunderstanding between you and the customer?”
Manager Zhang didn’t hear Wu Xixi’s answer and continued to give her a way out. “How about this? You know, it’s better to settle things than to escalate them. Why don’t you call the customer? If there’s a misunderstanding, you can just explain it.”
“Remember to get the customer to remove the one-star review and the complaint, okay?”
Wu Xixi was in a difficult position. “Manager… I…”
“What ‘I’?” Manager Zhang said angrily. “Are you expecting me to call and apologize for you?”
Wu Xixi: “That’s not what I meant…”
“Then that’s it. It’s settled. Hurry up,” Manager Zhang said, and without waiting for Wu Xixi to say a word, he hung up.
Wu Xixi took her phone away from her ear. She looked at the phone, then at Lin Anan, unable to understand how she could be tormented like this by a character she had created.
Lin Anan was so scared by Wu Xixi’s despairing look that her voice stuttered. “Xixi, Manager Zhang… what did he say?”
Wu Xixi plopped down on the stairs next to her. “Manager Zhang told us to call Yu Nanxi and apologize, and get her to remove the one-star review and the complaint. Otherwise, we’ll probably get our money deducted.”
Lin Anan thought about the rage behind the more than a hundred missed calls on her phone, and her face instantly turned pale with fear.
Author’s Note:
Lin Anan: Yu Nanxi is so terrifying. She’s completely changed my worldview again. I’m not turning myself in, I’m not going!
Yu Nanxi: …You took my first time, and you think you can just run away?
