Weak A, She Just Wants to Live to the End (GL) - Chapter 7
After dinner, the two of them sat at home, debating whether or not to call Yu Nanxi to make peace.
They were still hesitant when Wu Xixi’s phone rang. It was Manager Zhang, who had called them in the evening. “Xiao Wu, what’s wrong with you?”
“Why haven’t you called the customer yet? They complained about us again, do you know that?”
The two of them looked at each other, and Wu Xixi finally succumbed to the power of money. She said weakly, “Manager Zhang, I… I’ll call right now…”
“Don’t bother calling. You don’t have to take any orders today. You’re fired,” Manager Zhang said, being all business. “With this complaint and your one-star review, I’m deducting about five hundred from you.”
“That’s about how much salary you have left here, so let’s just consider it a wash.”
“Manager Zhang, you can’t do this. How can you deduct all of it?” Wu Xixi looked at Lin Anan, on the verge of tears.
Manager Zhang’s voice grew angry. “Deduct all of it? I’m already being lenient. If the customer had sued our platform, we would have lost more than that.”
Manager Zhang paused, probably feeling that his anger had made him lose his professionalism. He softened his voice and continued, “Xiao Wu, it’s not that I’m giving you a hard time. It’s the company’s policy, and I can’t do anything about it.”
“Also, did you do something to offend this customer? They asked for your address and said they would sue us if I didn’t give it to them. I had no choice but to tell them the truth. This is your problem, so you handle it yourself. The company has already done everything it could.”
“Manager! How could you…” Wu Xixi’s words were cut off by a “beep-beep-beep” sound, indicating a busy line.
Lin Anan looked at Wu Xixi’s tearful expression and said, trembling, “Xixi, what did Manager Zhang… say?”
Wu Xixi grew angry and threw her phone onto the sofa. “Manager Zhang said that Yu Nanxi asked him for our home address. She’s probably coming to find us.”
Sure enough, shortly after Manager Zhang’s call ended, several unfamiliar numbers started calling.
Given the furious calls on Lin Anan’s phone yesterday, both of them were a little nervous and didn’t dare to answer.
But the frequency of the calls was just as relentless as the ones on Lin Anan’s phone yesterday. The calls came in one after another. After a while, they even started to change phone numbers.
Remembering Yu Nanxi’s villainous acts in the original novel, they couldn’t sit still anymore. They immediately declined the calls and simply turned off their phones.
In the original novel, Yu Nanxi not only framed the female protagonist but also once harmed the villainous cannon fodder, Lin Anan.
It was when the two of them teamed up to plot against the female protagonist. But they didn’t succeed, and their plot was discovered. Yu Nanxi pushed all the blame onto Lin Anan, sacrificing her to protect herself. This caused Lin Anan, who didn’t have much of a fan base to begin with, to completely lose it.
That incident was also the direct trigger for Lin Anan being blacklisted from the entertainment industry.
Lin Anan had been a little skeptical about these plots, but with the way things were developing now, she truly believed that an angel and a demon could be combined. The pure-faced Yu Nanxi was indeed a true villain.
The two of them frantically packed their things and contacted their landlord. Within half an hour, they had packed their belongings and moved out.
They didn’t have much stuff to begin with. When they were kicked out by Bai Yunshuang, their belongings were already limited.
They were lugging three suitcases and were fully armed as they walked out of the residential area. They had just turned a corner when a black van screeched to a halt right at the entrance.
The car door opened, and a tall, capable-looking woman with short, stylish hair led the way out. Her features were exquisite, and the curve of her lips held a natural smile. Among the group, she was the first person you would notice, with her bold and radiant presence.
However, her eyes weren’t as gentle as her smile. They held a hint of aggressive toughness.
She was chewing gum and said casually to the men next to her, “Let’s go up and take a look. We’ll be nice and polite at first. Don’t scare her, got it?”
The men gave a messy acknowledgment and then walked into the residential area.
Lin Anan and Wu Xixi, who had witnessed them getting out of the car, had already hidden in the shadows by the wall. After hearing their conversation, they wanted to merge with the darkness, pressing themselves against the wall.
They held their breath, terrified of being discovered by the group at the gate.
Looking at the group’s aggressive demeanor, it was clear they had no intention of being nice. They looked like they wanted to catch someone and tear them apart.
They were lucky they had run in time. If they had waited just a moment longer, they would have been trapped at the entrance.
After the group went inside, Lin Anan and Wu Xixi continued to hide in the shadows and carefully moved away.
They had finally moved about ten meters when the woman and the men who had just gone inside walked out, looking furious.
Lin Anan and Wu Xixi quickly pressed themselves against the shadows, stood still, and didn’t dare to breathe. They truly blended into the shadows, standing like two tree stumps by the side of the road.
They didn’t dare to turn around. They only vaguely heard someone kicking the van and saying, “Damn it, she got away!”
The tall woman replied, “So what if she got away? Why are you so angry?”
“Ha, but this Beta is pretty impressive. She disappeared so quickly.”
Lin Anan, who was on the inner side, felt her heart race. She held onto Wu Xixi’s arm tightly, trying to slow her breathing, terrified of making a sound and being discovered by the people at the gate.
The group at the gate chatted for a few more moments. Then, a man ran out of the residential area with a phone in his hand. He seemed to have just hung up. “Sister Chen, the landlord said they moved out almost half an hour ago.”
The woman nodded, a half-smile on her face. “She’s not just a regular Beta, it seems. A Beta who can mark an Omega is truly something else, huh.”
They said a few more things, but the street was too noisy, and Lin Anan and Wu Xixi couldn’t hear them clearly. After a short conversation, they opened the car door and got in.
After the car doors closed, the car sped off and disappeared.
The two people in the shadows finally let out a sigh of relief and dared to breathe deeply.
Lin Anan looked in the direction the car had left and patted her chest in fear. “Xixi, I just want to confirm, I only had a consensual one-night stand with Yu Nanxi, right?”
“Why is Yu Nanxi acting like I dug up her family’s grave?”
“Do we really have such a deep hatred for each other?”
Wu Xixi wiped the light sweat from her forehead. “Sigh, I told you, she has this kind of personality. If she wasn’t like this, how would the female protagonist get a chance to shine, how would she face challenges, and how would the male protagonist be a hero and save her?”
Lin Anan: “…”
It was late at night, and they couldn’t find a place to rent. Hotels were too expensive, so they had to make do with an internet cafe until morning.
In all this bad luck, there was one good thing: Lin Anan’s susceptible period was completely over. This meant she no longer had to rely on Wu Xixi to earn money for a living.
Lin Anan could now work like a normal person and earn money.
However, they were worried about what Yu Nanxi would do next, so they didn’t dare to let Lin Anan go back to her management company to get jobs. Although Lin Anan was only a low-level celebrity, getting a job meant exposure.
Exposure increased the chances of being recognized by Yu Nanxi.
It would be a complete loss if she was recognized by Yu Nanxi because she rashly went to the company to get work.
And they had two more things to worry about: whether the vindictive Yu Nanxi was pregnant and whether she had been permanently marked by Lin Anan.
If either of these things were true, they would have to give up Lin Anan’s identity as a quick-money artist and live a low-key life under assumed names. Otherwise, if Yu Nanxi ever caught them, the outcome would definitely not be better than what was described in the novel.
Fortunately, their bad luck had finally come to an end. In the following days, they found an affordable place to rent, Lin Anan successfully found a job as a clerk, and both of them changed their phone numbers, living a peaceful life for a while.
Of course, they were also constantly monitoring Yu Nanxi’s every move.
Through various live events, live streams, and reality TV show videos, they finally confirmed that Yu Nanxi had not been permanently marked by Lin Anan.
They saw in a video from an outdoor reality show that the gland on the back of Yu Nanxi’s neck was as pristine as ever, with no signs of being permanently marked.
Additionally, after their observations, they also doubted that Yu Nanxi was pregnant.
After her “one-night stand” with Lin Anan, Yu Nanxi’s life remained incredibly busy, and her work intensity was high. She hadn’t even gone to a hospital during her rest periods.
Omegas would become very weak if they were pregnant due to their physical makeup.
Yu Nanxi’s high-intensity work schedule clearly showed she hadn’t gotten pregnant; otherwise, her body would have broken down long ago.
To be even more certain that Yu Nanxi wasn’t pregnant, Wu Xixi even used her position at the management company to ask around about Yu Nanxi’s daily life. There was even one time when she went to the makeup room where Yu Nanxi was filming an advertisement to confirm it.
After observing numerous details, the two of them could finally rest easy.
As they were celebrating, they received even more exciting news: Yu Nanxi and Bai Yunshuang had accepted roles in a republican-era film called The Love of Hemlock.
They would be playing the male and female leads, and this film, The Love of Hemlock, was actually the one that later earned Yu Nanxi her first Best Actress award.
It was a republican-era romance film. The plot was about the male and female protagonists being classmates and falling in love. They were later separated by war, each believing the other had died in a foreign land.
But they both held onto their beliefs, joined the revolution, and never fell for anyone else.
Years later, after the war ended, they unexpectedly met again and realized they still loved each other, and they finally got together.
However, the plot of the film wasn’t the main point. The main point was that the female protagonist was a student, and in the beginning, she had to wear a specific republican-era student uniform, a form-fitting top.
If Yu Nanxi were pregnant, she would definitely not dare to accept a role in such a film. After all, a pregnancy would start to show in no time, and wearing a form-fitting top would make it easy to be discovered.
Furthermore, because the film was set during a time of war, the filming intensity was not to be underestimated. The production period alone was advertised to be half a year long.
This condition further proved that Yu Nanxi was not pregnant.
Of course, it wasn’t out of the question that Yu Nanxi might have gotten pregnant and then had an abortion.
But regardless, the fact that Yu Nanxi willingly accepted such a film showed that the pregnancy crisis had indeed been averted.
And because of the special filming location, the entire crew had to go to a specific film studio in another province for a closed-off production. This meant that even if Lin Anan accepted a job, the chances of being caught by Yu Nanxi would be greatly reduced.
There was another thing to be happy about: Bai Yunshuang also left, so even if Lin Anan went to the company to ask for a job, she wouldn’t have to worry about Bai Yunshuang obstructing her.
And according to the original novel, Yu Nanxi would fall in love with Bai Yunshuang and film a kissing scene with him during this production.
Although it seemed that many of the characters here had already deviated from the original novel, Yu Nanxi’s story arc of falling for Bai Yunshuang and becoming the second female lead was a major plot point, so it likely wouldn’t deviate too much.
Looking at it this way, as long as Yu Nanxi fell for Bai Yunshuang and became the second female lead, her main target would probably become the female protagonist, Tang Xin, and she wouldn’t waste her energy on Lin Anan anymore.
Even if she did get caught, Lin Anan could use their shared goal of framing the female protagonist to temporarily make peace. After all, the enemy of your enemy is your friend.
In conclusion, it was a win-win situation for everyone that Yu Nanxi and Bai Yunshuang accepted this film.
So, on the second day after the two plagues, Yu Nanxi and Bai Yunshuang, left, Wu Xixi happily took Lin Anan to their management company to ask for work.
Early in the morning, the two of them swiped their access cards and went to the floor where the managers’ offices were.
Lin Anan initially entered the industry because of Bai Yunshuang, so her manager was naturally the same as his. Now that Bai Yunshuang had gone to another province to film, she felt brave enough to go and find their manager, Li Sheng.
Lin Anan and Wu Xixi walked to Li Sheng’s office door. Lin Anan calmed her nerves and reached out to knock. “Brother Li, are you in? It’s Anan.”
The room was quiet for a moment. Then they heard Li Sheng’s unconcerned voice say, “Come in.”
Lin Anan and Wu Xixi looked at each other, encouraging each other. Lin Anan then reached out, turned the doorknob, and pushed the door open.
She didn’t expect to see that Li Sheng wasn’t the only one in the office. A girl was sitting on the sofa. When she heard the door open, she turned her head to look in Lin Anan’s direction.
Lin Anan’s eyes met hers. She was shocked to discover that this girl was the female protagonist of the original novel, Tang Xin.
Author’s Note:
Lin Anan: Yu Nanxi is so terrifying. She really is a villainess… I have to stay away from her in the future.
Yu Nanxi huffed, anxiously looking like she wanted to say something but couldn’t.
Author’s Note: Actually, I think she can still be saved.
Let me explain the positions of Anan and Xiao Xi again.
Even though Xiao Xi was drunk and not thinking straight, Lin Anan wasn’t a willing participant. She was the one who was pounced on and taken advantage of, used as a substitute, and lost her virginity.
Just because Xiao Xi is an Omega, don’t automatically assume she’s the weak one. Besides, with Yu Nanxi’s increasingly ruthless actions and the knowledge that Yu Nanxi is a ruthless villainess, it’s a completely normal thought process for Lin Anan to run away to save her life.
Plus, they are a couple! A couple in the end! So let’s not worry about these details. And there’s a plot twist later! A plot twist.
Well, that’s all I’m going to say. Thank you to all the readers who made it this far. Big love! [Heart emoji]
