What If I Ended Up Marrying My Enemy? - Chapter 10
Chapter 10: Intimacy
The impulsiveness from yesterday had finally come back to bite Yu Wenxuan today. After parting ways with Yu Zhixue and arriving at the company, he was greeted by a mountain of documents.
The secretary still remembered how Yu Wenxuan had declared he was going to “catch someone” the day before and kept her head down without a word.
Looking at the towering pile, Yu Wenxuan felt a bit weary and told the secretary to leave.
He worked straight until after eleven. Watching the time closely, he set the documents down, turned, and took the elevator downstairs.
The car in the basement roared to life. While driving, Yu Wenxuan removed the new glasses perched on his nose and set them aside.
Aside from the day he first transmigrated, this was the first time he had opened the chat window with Yu Zhixue, staring for a long while at the nickname “Baby”.
He hovered over the remark section to change it back to “Yu Zhixue,” but ultimately couldn’t press confirm.
After a few seconds of hesitation, Yu Wenxuan exited the screen and left it untouched. Instead, he started a video call.
Yu Zhixue was still in his office. The person who’d been scolded yesterday had rushed to complete a new proposal and just handed it to him.
Only their voices echoed in the room as they reported. Just as Yu Zhixue was about to speak, the phone on his desk began to vibrate.
The moment he saw the contact name, he instinctively checked the time — thankfully, it wasn’t too late.
Letting out a silent sigh of relief, Yu Zhixue said to the people in front of him, “You can leave now. For anything not covered, email me tonight.”
As soon as they left, he picked up the video call. The other end was slightly dim. As he leaned closer, he realized Yu Wenxuan was driving.
“Were you busy just now?” Yu Wenxuan asked.
Yu Zhixue: “Yeah.”
Yu Wenxuan glanced briefly at the screen at a red light. “Where are you right now? Show me.”
Yu Zhixue obediently flipped the camera. “In the office.”
“Have you eaten?”
“About to.” Yu Zhixue blinked and switched the topic, “Where are you headed?”
“To have lunch with you,” Yu Wenxuan said while gripping the steering wheel. “Should be there in ten minutes. Thought I’d try out the food at the Yu Corporation cafeteria.”
Given this person’s track record, Yu Wenxuan thought it was best to keep him under close watch.
Yu Zhixue paused slightly, then said, “I’ll come downstairs to meet you.”
“No need. I know the way.” Yu Wenxuan raised an eyebrow.
Yu Zhixue shook his head earnestly. “It’s not that I think you’ll get lost. I just want to see you sooner. Okay?”
Those words rippled like a drop of water in Yu Wenxuan’s heart. For a moment, he was silent — only his breathing could be heard in the car.
Turning slightly, he acted like he didn’t care. “Whatever you want.”
But off-camera, his expression was clearly smiling.
…
Yu Corporation – First Floor Lobby
Normally bustling, one corner of the lobby was especially quiet. Staff walked by holding their breath — but none could resist sneaking a glance.
Sitting on the lounge sofa was a slim figure, casually checking his phone — clearly waiting for someone.
Who was President Yu waiting for?
Various names flashed through everyone’s minds before they all settled on one thought: Could it be President Yu’s partner?!
Because really, who else could make Yu Zhixue come downstairs personally to wait?
That thought alone sent the company group chat into chaos:
“President Yu is in the lobby waiting for someone — suspected to be the mysterious spouse! Come quick!”
“Are you serious?! Really?! I’m heading down now!”
“I’m swamped — someone downstairs please narrate! We’ve all wondered for three years who he’s married to!”
Though they looked focused, everyone’s attention was clearly elsewhere.
Outside, cars passed until one pulled up out front.
Yu Zhixue took one glance and immediately stood up, walking a couple steps toward the door — clearly going to meet someone.
Everyone’s eyes followed. The receptionist, however, stared at the car, a strange look on her face. Why does it look familiar…?
Meanwhile, in the chat:
“He’s up! Going to meet them at the door — definitely the husband!”
“Keep updating! I can’t leave my desk!”
“Anyone got a pic? I’m dying to know QAQ”
“Too scared to take one. I’ll just describe.”
As the person stepped out, each step brought their figure into clearer view.
“Husband seems… kind of tall?”
“What do you mean?”
“Literally. Looks like… maybe over 185cm.”
“Wait — that’s half a head taller than President Yu. Is he a model?!”
The door slowly opened. Yu Wenxuan glanced at his watch. Perfect — under ten minutes.
Looking up, he was immediately met with shock, awe, and disbelief in the staff’s expressions.
The general reaction could be summed up as: Wait, it’s YOU?! or How could it actually be YOU?
Yu Wenxuan blinked, confused, and turned to Yu Zhixue for answers.
Yu Zhixue shook his head slightly, equally confused.
Not one to dwell, Yu Wenxuan said nothing. Yu Zhixue came up beside him and spoke in a voice only the two could hear.
From an outsider’s perspective, they looked like they were discussing serious business — Yu Wenxuan calm and sharp, Yu Zhixue cold and composed.
But in truth—
Yu Zhixue: “I’ll take you upstairs. Just follow me, alright?”
Yu Wenxuan: “I’m not going to get lost.”
Yu Zhixue: “I know. I just want you to follow me… please?”
With words like that, what could Yu Wenxuan say? He tilted his head slightly, agreeing. “Let’s go.”
Once the two vanished into the elevator, the time — frozen since Yu Wenxuan arrived — finally resumed.
Those still waiting in the chat grew anxious.
“So? Who was it?!”
“Doesn’t look like the husband — maybe a client?”
“No way. What kind of client needs President Yu to personally come down?! Are you blind?!”
“Seriously. He’s never done that before!”
Then someone sent a single message that lit a fuse:
“It was Yu Wenxuan.”
…
The next day, Yu Wenxuan once again sat where he’d been the day before — only this time, not to supervise, but to eat lunch together.
As a legacy corporation, Yu Corporation’s cafeteria was top-notch. Yu Zhixue casually told Ji Hua to bring up a few dishes.
Under watchful eyes, Yu Zhixue didn’t just pick at his food like usual — he ate seriously.
After finishing, a bit of soup lingered at the corner of his lips. Yu Wenxuan reached for a tissue, gently pinched his chin. “Don’t move.”
Yu Zhixue didn’t resist, obediently leaning into Yu Wenxuan’s palm.
After wiping his mouth clean, Yu Wenxuan was just pulling his hand back when—
Squeak— The door creaked open.
With that intimate pose — hand on chin, faces close — Ji Hua, peeking from outside, twitched slightly. He had come in because Yu Zhixue told him to clean up.
But… was he interrupting something tender between lovers?
Yu Wenxuan saw his awkwardness but ignored it. After telling him to clear the dishes, he tapped Yu Zhixue’s head. “I’m leaving. Got stuff this afternoon. I’ll pick you up later.”
Ji Hua froze slightly. For someone like Yu Wenxuan, time was more precious than money.
Yet he willingly made a half-hour round trip just to make sure Yu Zhixue ate lunch.
Knowing he had work, Yu Zhixue didn’t ask him to stay. After a brief pause, he waved goodbye like a kid.
Yu Wenxuan saw the gesture, smiled, and walked back over.
He touched Yu Zhixue’s fingertips, mimicked his tone, and said with a slow drawl: “See you later, junior.”
Technically not wrong — Yu Wenxuan was nearly two years older, from the same department.
But in college, Yu Zhixue had never once called him “senior.”
Yu Wenxuan and Ji Hua left one after the other. Ji Hua, upon hearing “junior,” didn’t look up again.
After seeing him out, he wiped nonexistent sweat from his brow and opened his phone — chat messages: 999+.
The group chat had shifted from “Who is the husband?” to “Yu Wenxuan?!?” to “Why is Yu Wenxuan always here?”
“Didn’t we just steal a project from his company? Maybe he’s here for revenge.”
“Didn’t he come yesterday too?”
“Is he planning to show up every day?! What did we do to him?!”
Knowing the truth and being force-fed dog food all day, Ji Hua just replied:
President Yu’s Assistant Ji Hua: “Heh.”
…
Yu Wenxuan’s drive back was unusually smooth. Assistant Liu thought the boss would be MIA all afternoon, but love-struck as he was, he still remembered to return.
Which, frankly, was impressive.
With nothing on his mind, Yu Wenxuan’s productivity skyrocketed.
Just as he was finishing, he received a call from Cheng Yu, clearly timed right at the end of work hours.
As soon as it connected—
“Got time tonight? Let’s grab dinner.”
Yu Wenxuan: “Not going anywhere shady.”
Cheng Yu, sounding offended: “Who said anything shady?! Do I really seem like that kind of guy to you? Just dinner — at a restaurant!”
Yu Wenxuan replied flatly: “Oh. Still not going. I’ve got someone to be with. Unlike you, I’m not that free.”
Cheng Yu wanted to drive over and slap him — but didn’t dare. “Then bring your baby with you! Just dinner!”
As Yu Wenxuan packed up, he casually responded—“That depends on whether my baby is willing or not.”
