What If I Ended Up Marrying My Enemy? - Chapter 11
Chapter 11: Drunk
“Zai Zai, go say goodbye to them…”
On the other end of the call, Cheng Yu was so stunned by this line that he almost lost his mind. He started speaking rapidly—none of it good.
Surprisingly, Yu Wenxuan didn’t snap back this time. Instead, he finally realized what he had just called Yu Zhixue—
Baby.
Damn it, Cheng Yu. He’d completely thrown him off course.
With a darkened expression, Yu Wenxuan ignored the voice still rambling from the phone and calmly ended the call.
He stood up, went downstairs, and drove to the Yu Corporation. It was rush hour, and traffic was heavy. Seeing the road ahead was nearly at a standstill, Yu Wenxuan pulled over into a nearby spot and parked.
After all, if he drove straight to the company entrance to pick up Yu Zhixue, their relationship would be public knowledge by tomorrow. So, he and Yu Zhixue agreed to meet somewhere nearby instead.
When he arrived at the designated spot, he spotted Yu Zhixue standing by the roadside from afar. His tall, well-proportioned figure made him naturally stand out in a crowd.
Noticing people constantly turning to glance at Yu Zhixue, Yu Wenxuan blended into the crowd and walked up behind him, tapping him on the shoulder.
Yu Zhixue instinctively reacted with a defensive move, but quickly realized who it was and withdrew his hand.
He turned around to see the person he’d expected.
Yu Wenxuan’s hair was slightly tousled, giving him a lazy, casual look. He waved a hand in front of Yu Zhixue and said, “Let’s go.”
Yu Zhixue reached out and grabbed his hand, letting Yu Wenxuan lead him through the crowd.
As they walked, they overheard a few stifled gasps of surprise.
The two of them were just too eye-catching—one had broad shoulders, long legs, and an air of refined nobility, while the other was cool and unattainable. They held hands intimately despite their contrasting temperaments.
Not until they got into the car were the curious stares blocked out by the tinted glass.
Yu Wenxuan didn’t start the car right away. Instead, he asked, “Cheng Yu wants to have dinner with us tonight. You up for it?”
Yu Zhixue had just fastened his seatbelt and replied, “He found a new fling again?”
Seeing Yu Wenxuan’s slightly puzzled look, Yu Zhixue explained, “Every time Cheng Yu gets into a new relationship, he invites us out. Probably wants us to meet them.”
Yu Wenxuan started the car, thoughtfully adding, “So tonight’s dinner will include his new partner.”
Yu Zhixue: “Mhm.”
Given how well Yu Wenxuan knew Cheng Yu, he doubted this was just about introductions. It was more likely the guy wanted to show off.
Glancing down at the plain silver band on his left ring finger, Yu Wenxuan raised his hand and asked the question he’d been meaning to ask, “Is this a wedding ring?”
The ring was simple and elegant, but it didn’t look expensive—someone might even think the Yu family had gone bankrupt.
Yu Zhixue: “…Kind of.”
Yu Wenxuan: “?”
Yu Zhixue explained, “Our wedding rings are custom-made, but not practical for everyday wear, so we keep them at home. Later, we bought this pair to wear instead.”
“I see…” Yu Wenxuan chuckled, turned the steering wheel, and changed directions.
When the car stopped in front of their house, Yu Zhixue looked at him, puzzled. “Aren’t we going to dinner?”
Yu Wenxuan helped unbuckle his seatbelt and said, “No rush. Let’s go put on the rings first.”
Since Cheng Yu wanted to publicly show off, Yu Wenxuan didn’t mind returning the favor—it would also make up for earlier when Cheng Yu got him to slip and say “baby.”
When Yu Wenxuan actually saw the custom wedding rings, he finally understood why Yu Zhixue said they weren’t suitable for everyday wear.
The centerpieces were two bluish-purple diamonds, surrounded by intricate, elegant designs—clearly expensive.
Yu Wenxuan swapped his plain ring for the custom one before taking Yu Zhixue to the restaurant Cheng Yu had chosen.
It was a highly private location. As soon as they arrived, they spotted Cheng Yu waiting outside the private room.
He waved and led them to the place he had booked in advance.
Inside, there was only one young woman. She had a gentle presence and carried herself gracefully.
As Cheng Yu opened the door and eagerly leaned toward her, she calmly pushed him away and greeted Yu Wenxuan with a smile, “Hello, I’m Jiang Qingqing.”
Yu Wenxuan nodded, said his name in return, and then pulled Yu Zhixue slightly closer by the shoulder to introduce him: “Yu Zhixue—my Husband.”
Cheng Yu, who had just been pushed away, blurted out without thinking, “Wasn’t he your baby?”
Yu Wenxuan resisted the urge to punch him for Jiang Qingqing’s sake but gave him a long, meaningful look instead.
Cheng Yu instantly wilted and ducked behind Jiang Qingqing. She laughed lightly and changed the subject: “Please sit. We already ordered a few dishes—see if there’s anything else you want to add.”
Yu Zhixue tugged on Yu Wenxuan’s hand, and when the latter turned to look, he blinked once and softly said, “I’m a bit hungry.”
Yu Wenxuan immediately led him to sit down, looked through the menu, added a few more dishes, and handed it back to the waiter.
The restaurant was efficient, and the food started arriving quickly.
While they waited, Yu Wenxuan undid Yu Zhixue’s hair and tied it back into a neat ponytail.
Jiang Qingqing had already heard from Cheng Yu about how affectionate the two were, but witnessing it in person was something else.
Yu Wenxuan seemed polite and approachable, but everyone in high society knew—beneath that smile, he was the coldest of them all.
A man capable of controlling clouds and storms in the capital, yet still captivated by a lover’s hair.
Jiang Qingqing’s eyes crinkled with a smile. “You two have such a good relationship.”
Yu Zhixue replied politely, “You and Cheng Yu, too.”
He had seen Cheng Yu quarreling with this girl right after landing a few days ago. He’d assumed they broke up, but apparently, they made up.
When all the dishes were finally served, Yu Wenxuan leaned closer and asked Yu Zhixue what he wanted to eat.
After listing a few, Yu Wenxuan served them to him, then picked up the tools to start cracking open crabs.
Under the warm lighting, Yu Wenxuan’s hands looked pale yet strong—but what stood out most was the dazzling diamond ring on his finger.
Jiang Qingqing said, “What a beautiful diamond. It really suits you both.”
Cheng Yu had planned this dinner to get back at Yu Wenxuan for constantly showing off. But from the moment they walked in, he’d been completely overshadowed.
He blurted, “Qingqing, I can get one for you too!”
Yu Zhixue, without looking up as he accepted the crab meat, casually said, “The raw stone for these rings was 160 million.”
Cheng Yu: “…”
Upon hearing the price, Cheng Yu gave up all hope and began imitating Yu Wenxuan—serving food and checking in on Jiang Qingqing like a model boyfriend.
Yu Wenxuan stopped after cracking two crabs. Crabs are cooling after all—not good to eat too many.
Halfway through the meal, Cheng Yu started ordering alcohol—sampling a bit of everything.
Yu Wenxuan didn’t refuse, and even sent a message to have someone come pick them up. He took a drink and found it surprisingly pleasant.
Yu Zhixue also held a glass, taking small sips in silence, his expression distant and cold.
Cheng Yu had heard from Yu Wenxuan how obedient Yu Zhixue was in private, but he always thought that was just Wenxuan seeing things through his love-struck lens.
Look at him—always aloof, barely speaking, the embodiment of a cool, untouchable beauty. Cheng Yu thought his friend was beyond saving.
Neither he nor Jiang Qingqing dared to encourage Yu Zhixue to drink, so they kept clinking glasses with Yu Wenxuan instead.
Yu Wenxuan’s alcohol tolerance was no joke—by the time the other two were tipsy, he only had a slight flush.
When he looked down, he suddenly noticed several empty bottles in front of Yu Zhixue.
—Yu Zhixue hadn’t said a word, but had quietly finished all the drinks in front of him.
Yu Wenxuan suddenly remembered how their whole relationship had started—a drunken night that turned into love.
He had a bad feeling. Cupping Yu Zhixue’s face, he gently tilted it up to check if he was drunk.
Thankfully, Yu Zhixue’s gaze was still clear, though his eyes were a little red. He didn’t avoid the touch and asked steadily, “Are we going home now?”
Yu Wenxuan: “Yeah. Let’s go.”
Cheng Yu had already walked to the private room’s entrance with Jiang Qingqing and called back, “What are you waiting for? Let’s go!”
Once outside, the air had turned chilly.
Yu Zhixue didn’t say anything, but Yu Wenxuan still took off his coat and draped it over him.
The driver was already waiting, and just as Yu Wenxuan was about to take his hand like usual, he noticed Yu Zhixue rooted to the spot.
Turning back, he asked gently, “What’s wrong?”
Yu Zhixue clutched the coat tightly, looked up with confusion, and asked, “…Aren’t you going to carry me?”
His tone was dreamy and soft, melting away anyone’s resistance.
Yu Wenxuan sighed. “You’re drunk, aren’t you?”
Yu Zhixue clearly didn’t think so. “I’m totally sober. Not dizzy. I can walk just fine. Also…”
He trailed off, slowed down, then frowned, “Wait, why am I explaining this to you…?”
Lifting his eyes again, he insisted, “Aren’t we going home? Aren’t you going to carry me?”
Yu Wenxuan was now certain. Yep, he was drunk—but not in the way most people were. Others would throw up and pass out.
But this one? He just wanted cuddles.
Obediently, Yu Wenxuan slid his arm under his knees and lifted him up. Yu Zhixue instantly buried his face in his neck, rubbing gently.
“I’m sleepy…”
It tickled.
Yu Wenxuan thought, like holding a fluffy little animal.
“We’ll be home soon.” But after just a few steps, he felt a wet warmth against his neck—Yu Zhixue was kissing and licking his skin.
Yu Wenxuan reached back, lifted his head, and stared into his hazy eyes. “Yu Zhixue, are you a little cub or something?”
Yu Zhixue gave a dazed response—it wasn’t clear if it was to his name or the word “cub.”
Just then, Cheng Yu’s driver finally arrived. He waved from a distance.
Cheng Yu and Jiang Qingqing froze. Were they seeing things? Those two were suddenly hugging, and Yu Wenxuan had his hand around Yu Zhixue’s neck.
With Yu Zhixue’s flushed, drunken face, the scene was undeniably seductive.
Too lazy to free a hand to wave back, Yu Wenxuan shifted the person in his arms.
Yu Zhixue’s eyes went wide, round like a kitten’s pupils, staring at him with faint accusation.
Yu Wenxuan lifted him a bit higher, gave a casual smile, and coaxed gently, “Zai Zai, go say goodbye to them.”
A few seconds later, Yu Zhixue finally realized he was being called. Confirming that Yu Wenxuan had a steady hold on him, he let go of his neck.
One hand braced against Yu Wenxuan’s shoulder, the other lifted in a little wave toward Cheng Yu’s direction, as he obediently said goodbye.
Afterward, he leaned back down, wrapped his arms around Wenxuan’s neck again, buried his face in his shoulder, and let his long hair fall.
On the other side, Cheng Yu and Jiang Qingqing were frozen in shock. They hadn’t expected Yu Zhixue to be the one to say goodbye.
And Yu Wenxuan hadn’t been lying—Yu Zhixue really did have that soft, spoiled, dual-standard side.
The two of them looked away at the same time, got in their car, and were left speechless.
—So… were they just blessed with a rare moment of being pampered by Yu Zhixue thanks to Yu Wenxuan’s glow?
