What to Do if You Mess With an Omega? - Chapter 12
The optical computer was hung up.
Xu Yuqing was stunned for two seconds, still finding it unbelievable. “She actually dared not to answer.”
Ning Qianqian blinked innocently.
Xu Yuqing laughed in anger, but when she met Ning Qianqian’s bewildered gaze, her heart suddenly softened. “Forget her. Let’s eat all of this, and don’t leave a single bit for her.”
She said that, but just the two of them—one big and one small—simply could not finish it all.
Xu Yuqing guessed that this meal had cost Ning Hanzhu quite a bit; considering how the other woman was usually stingy even about drinking nutrient solution, she was probably heartbroken somewhere right now. “Qianqian, eat more.”
The two were just burying their heads in enjoying this hard-won feast.
Bang—
The already flimsy door was kicked open forcefully.
A burly Alpha first poked his head inside, and upon seeing the big and small figures sitting cross-legged on the floor mat eating, he swaggered right in. He gave a small wave toward Xu Yuqing. “Beauty, we meet again.”
Ning Qianqian shrank behind Xu Yuqing in fright.
Xu Yuqing looked at the large group of people behind Yan Feipeng and glanced regretfully at the food on the table.
“Did no one ever teach you to knock before entering someone else’s home?”
Yan Feipeng just loved her cool demeanor; not only did he not get angry, but he grinned cheekily and immediately raised his hands in mock surrender. He walked to the door and knocked on it again, making the already overburdened door even shakier.
Xu Yuqing kept a cold face.
“How could a beauty like you settle for such a shabby place? My place is spacious and luxurious—far more comfortable than here. You’d definitely like it if you lived there.”
“Is that so?”
Xu Yuqing gave him a faint glance. “I think that facing the person you like every day makes even a rundown room bearable, but if you’re facing someone you dislike every day, then no matter how spacious or luxurious the place is, I wouldn’t feel any joy in it.”
Yan Feipeng smacked his lips. “You like that guy?”
Xu Yuqing was taken aback.
Yan Feipeng shook his head with a sigh. “That won’t do. The beauty I’ve set my sights on can only have me in her eyes. Once I dismantle her bones and flay her skin right in front of you, will you still like her?”
Ning Hanzhu, still unaware that she had been targeted, sneezed hard twice.
“Brother Lu, if Ning Ye is really sneaking bites behind Yan Feipeng’s back, a guy like Yan Feipeng—who can’t tolerate a speck of sand in his eyes—definitely won’t let him off. At that point, we can just let them dogs bite dogs and fight among themselves while we watch from the sidelines.”
“That’s a great plan. Knowing he loves money, we just cater to that.”
“I didn’t expect him to have secretly pocketed so many kickbacks behind Yan Feipeng’s back all these years either. But how did you know he’d do something like that?”
In the original body’s memories, Ning Ye was a greedy sort; back then, because he coveted the money her parents had left her, and since Elf Star was so far from the capital star, as long as Ning Hanzhu did not spill everything to the main Ning family branch, it would be fine.
If the main Ning family branch had not held such a dismissive attitude toward the Ning Hanzhu sisters, Ning Ye probably would not have dared to act on his greed for the original body’s money right away.
In the end.
The original body had been too weak at the time, and she was guilty of carrying a jade that incited crime.
Ning Hanzhu smiled. “Because I was the one he robbed, which is how I ended up wandering to that hellhole on West Street.”
In fact, this was also Ning Ye deliberately driving her there; otherwise, with so many places on Elf Star, why drive the original body specifically to that spot?
Lu Yutang immediately recalled their first meeting, when Ning Hanzhu and Ning Qianqian were curled up in a doghouse beside a garbage heap, fighting dogs for territory. At the time, he had even thought he was not the most miserable one.
“So it was that turtle grandson.”
“Yes, it was him.”
Back then, Ning Ye still did not dare to outright kill the original body, so he had robbed her of her money and belongings, smashed her optical computer—all to sever the original body’s connection to the main family, leaving the two sisters to fend for themselves on West Street.
West Street was chaotic, and surviving there was very difficult.
If she happened to die unexpectedly, Ning Ye could push all the blame clean away.
It was probably because he felt that the main family had not sent anyone to look for them all these years that Ning Ye finally decided to finish off the original body for good.
While the two were muttering and discussing here, Ning Ye had just closed a deal. With a flushed face, he rubbed his slightly protruding belly as he saw the person out, then stopped at the hotel entrance to talk. “Just like before, I’ll have the beauty you want sent to your room tonight.”
Lu Yutang immediately used his optical computer to snap a photo of the person shaking hands with Ning Ye. The guy was pot-bellied, and everything he wore—on his body, hands, and neck—was trendy from other star systems; it was clear at a glance that he was not from Elf Star.
“Even just this photo will make Yan Feipeng suspicious. That man’s vengeful to the bone—enough to give Ning Ye a real headache.”
“Catching them in the act with both parties—tonight’s definitely a deal, the best chance to hammer him.”
If they missed it, who knew how long they’d have to wait, and as long as Ning Ye existed for a day, she would have to stay vigilant every moment.
She had only heard of being a thief for a thousand days, not guarding against a thief every day.
The group squatted until the two parted ways before they each dispersed.
Ning Hanzhu thought of the news she had just gotten from Luo Wu and felt some worry; she could think of ways to deal with Ning Ye, but Yan Feipeng had been operating on Elf Star for so long—he was an Alpha not to be trifled with.
Last time, she had gotten away unscathed only by name-dropping the tiger’s skin, but once that flimsy cover was pierced, nothing would hold Yan Feipeng back anymore.
Ning Hanzhu racked her brains for a strategy, but as soon as she reached the entrance, she saw her front door wide open, with a crowd of people gathered around outside peering in. “Oh my, a perfectly good house torn apart like this.”
“Little Qianqian was even taken away.”
“What a pitiful child.”
“Alas, such a shame.”
At that, Ning Hanzhu’s head buzzed.
What she feared most had come true.
She pushed through the crowd and entered the house. The once somewhat tidy room was now a mess like a garbage heap; the bed and table had been dismantled into mere boards, and the scattered food boxes on the ground had been trampled by footprints.
It was not hard to imagine what had happened here before she returned.
Ning Hanzhu asked someone, and the person hemmed and hawed through a rough account: Yan Feipeng’s people were all fierce-looking, and they had been terrified—who would dare to openly watch the drama? They had all just listened to the sounds. It had been fine at first, but then it turned into a chaotic crashing and banging, accompanied by a child’s cries.
The group had imagined all sorts of bloody scenes, real and unreal.
In truth, no one had actually seen with their own eyes where the people inside the house had been taken or by whom.
Seeing how they all exaggerated wildly, Ning Hanzhu bolted off, soon finding Lu Yutang at the relief station unloading goods.
“Qianqian and the others were taken away by Yan Feipeng.”
“What!”
“It must have been them.”
Because Xu Yuqing’s metal suitcase from the room was also gone.
Ning Hanzhu assumed she had left without any harm, and on the contrary, Yan Feipeng might even have had someone eagerly carry the suitcase for Xu Yuqing. At the thought of that man leading Ning Qianqian and directing the West Street boss to carry the suitcase.
She suddenly was not so anxious anymore.
As soon as Lu Yutang heard, he wanted to gather a bunch of brothers to go demand them back, but once everyone had assembled, Ning Hanzhu stood frozen in place.
“Bamboo, let’s go—we’ll bring Qianqian right back.”
“Wait a bit first.”
“Wait for what?”
Ning Hanzhu looked at these familiar yet distant people in front of her; she always ran into them when she went to find Lu Yutang and would occasionally exchange greetings, knowing who among them was Brother Bear and who was Leopard.
But these people were not close to her at all.
Previously, Ning Hanzhu had paid them to investigate many things about Ning Ye’s past—jobs that were not too dangerous. But now, if they went to West Street for Xu Yuqing and Ning Qianqian, an unavoidable brawl was bound to break out.
She did not want to see anyone get hurt.
“Brother Lu, I think they won’t be in danger for the time being.”
“Have you lost your mind? How could a guy like Yan Feipeng easily let go of a child and a weak Beta who can’t even tie a chicken, and he’s dead set on your friend.”
Ning Hanzhu’s originally steadfast heart wavered at his words, but thinking of the important stakeout that night, she said, “How about this: Brother Lu, you and Brother Bear help me get evidence of Ning Ye sneaking bites behind Yan Feipeng’s back. I’ll go to West Street alone.”
“You alone? No way.”
“Didn’t you solo Yan Feipeng back in the day?”
Soloing Yan Feipeng had ended with him getting mobbed by Yan Feipeng’s group and tossed into a garbage heap like trash—that was absolutely Lu Yutang’s black history. As soon as Ning Hanzhu said it, Lu Yutang’s face turned as black as the bottom of a pot. “You little punk, poking at which pot not to open, huh?”
Ning Hanzhu directly tore off the barrier patch at the back of her neck, and her domineering and fierce pheromone immediately made all the brothers here involuntarily step back two paces. “Brother Lu, do you still think I’m biting off more than I can chew like this?”
Lu Yutang was convinced by her.
Because over these past few days, he had personally tested how strong Ning Hanzhu’s five senses were and how domineering her pheromone.
Ning Hanzhu went to West Street alone.
She navigated the familiar paths to Yan Feipeng’s lair. Strangely, the little minions guarding the door did not stop her much; they even very proactively cleared the way, though their gazes at her carried a baffling hint of schadenfreude.
Yan Feipeng’s lair was a massive abandoned factory that he had renovated; upstairs and downstairs, with the middle turned into a huge arena—it was easy to imagine what these Alphas did up there on a normal day.
But now, the arena had become a massive stage, with dazzling stage lights. Ignoring the group of Alphas eyeing her covetously around the edges, it gave the illusion that someone was about to debut on this stage.
Today’s protagonists had all gathered here.
As soon as Ning Hanzhu entered, she spotted Xu Yuqing—she was too dazzling, especially under the lights, as if her whole body was glowing. As for Yan Feipeng standing rigidly beside her, he looked more like her bodyguard.
As for Ning Qianqian, she hid at Xu Yuqing’s side; being so small, she was impossible to notice if you did not pay attention.
After Yan Feipeng had brought the people back, he coaxed them for a long time, but Xu Yuqing was stingy even with a glance at him. Yet the more she acted that way, the more Yan Feipeng treasured her—until he saw Ning Hanzhu walk in alone.
“Sister.”
Yan Feipeng smacked his own head. “Came alone? That’s got a bit more guts than I imagined.”
“Just in time—it saves me the trouble of tracking you down.”
Ning Hanzhu saw that the two of them were unharmed and let out a breath of relief. “What do you want with me? I’m not into that. No interest in you.”
Xu Yuqing’s face, which had been cold for so long, finally cracked at that moment; she burst out laughing.
