What to Do if You Mess With an Omega? - Chapter 13
She could still laugh.
It seemed she had not suffered any losses for the time being.
Ning Hanzhu’s heart, which had been in her throat, slowly settled. She strode forward and leaped onto the stage using the floorboards, her body light as if she had practiced water drifting—this was one of the skills she had recently discovered. Once she landed steadily, she could finally see clearly that several plates of desserts sat in front of Xu Yuqing.
Her brows furrowed slightly. “Just this?”
Yan Feipeng did not take Ning Hanzhu seriously at all; after all, this was his turf, and crushing her would be as easy as killing an ant. He just wanted to see what medicine she was selling in her gourd.
Xu Yuqing had never realized she could infuriate someone like this; her words cooperated fully. “When he invited me over, he promised so much—said he would give me the largest, most luxurious room.”
Her gaze casually swept over the rundown factory and the plates of cheap snacks on the table.
Ning Hanzhu clicked her tongue lightly. “Alphas are all a bunch of big pig’s trotters—how can you believe his words?”
Yan Feipeng, “???”
Aren’t you a fucking Alpha?
Xu Yuqing could not help but look at her with new eyes; this woman was ruthless enough to curse even herself.
Ning Hanzhu belatedly sensed the angry glares from the group of Alphas below and only then remembered that she herself was an Alpha. She touched her nose guiltily. “Just looking at these—compared to the Golden Dew Nectar I ordered for you, this stuff is practically inedible.”
Yan Feipeng’s eye twitched. One of his underlings immediately briefed him on the signboard for Yijian Shisuo, including their ridiculously expensive desserts and such. “Boss, the food boxes we smashed in that house today were takeout from Yijian Shisuo—at least this much.”
The underling gestured with his palm.
He had even picked up two undamaged packages back then to taste, and the flavor had been exquisite.
Now Yan Feipeng’s cheek muscles twitched. He turned and slapped the underling. “Why the fvck didn’t you tell me sooner?”
Ning Hanzhu and Xu Yuqing exchanged a glance. See, this was a guy with no taste.
Yan Feipeng felt he had lost face and immediately had someone clear away all the desserts on the table. He guaranteed it three times over. “I keep my word. I said I’d give you the best food and the best place to stay, and I’ll make sure it happens. Just wait.”
Xu Yuqing raised an eyebrow. “Is that so?”
Ning Qianqian had already sneaked from behind Xu Yuqing to behind Ning Hanzhu. Ning Hanzhu saw that the little one had been well protected and unharmed; though scared, she had stayed very obedient. She patted her small head and gestured for her to go back to Xu Yuqing’s side.
Yan Feipeng noticed her little gesture and immediately wanted to regain some ground. “Since you’ve come knocking on my door yourself, how about we have an appetizer before the main course?”
Xu Yuqing’s eyelid twitched. She had not forgotten Yan Feipeng’s bloody vow in front of her earlier, and now looking at Ning Hanzhu’s frail build. “Yan Feipeng, do you know why I’ve always rejected you?”
Yan Feipeng had thick skin; rejection did not anger him—he only cared about the result.
The result was that Xu Yuqing was now on his turf. Once he dealt with Ning Hanzhu, he would make everyone on West Street understand clearly.
Xu Yuqing leaned back against the chair in a relaxed posture; even so, she did not forget to hold Ning Qianqian’s hand. “Actually, I ended up on Elf Star by accident because I was fleeing a marriage.”
Ning Hanzhu, “?”
Again???
She would absolutely not play the fool this time.
Ning Hanzhu wore an expression that said you make it up, keep making it up—she absolutely would not believe it.
Yan Feipeng burst out laughing. “Beauty, you might not know me well. Let alone a betrothal—even if you’re already married, once I’ve set my sights on you, you have to be mine.”
See, the big pig’s trotter speaks.
A flash of disgust crossed Xu Yuqing’s eyes. “Is that so? Even if for me, you’d throw away your life, and everything you’ve painstakingly built up, all those shady dealings of yours that could vanish in an instant.”
Yan Feipeng had fallen for it once and would not fall for it a second time. He admired that captivating face. “Beauty, do you think that trick still works? I’ve already had someone check your background. The Luo family means nothing here to me—Luo Wu spilled everything. He doesn’t know you and even suspects you were scamming him before.”
The lie was exposed.
Ning Hanzhu saw that she did not panic at all; just this composure was worth her learning well.
Xu Yuqing merely pursed her lips in a light smile. “Looks like the outside world’s evaluation of the Luo family is spot on. It really is a declining century-old family—even an Alpha like you scraping by on the streets doesn’t take it seriously. It shows—”
Yan Feipeng pressed. “Shows what?”
“It shows you’re as good as dead too.”
Boom—
A blinding white light flashed by.
Ning Hanzhu felt a wave of heat rush toward her face. The stage they stood on trembled under the force. She instinctively pulled Xu Yuqing and Ning Qianqian into her arms. Her ears rang with a constant buzz, and she could hear nothing.
What kind of bullet was this?
Its power was actually this great.
“Who dares say my Luo family is a declining house?”
“Fvck, boss—someone’s ambushing our base.”
Yan Feipeng was not blind; he saw it. A group of well-trained people swiftly subdued his wailing brothers on the ground. From the commotion, it was clear the attackers’ weapons were better than theirs, and they did not play fair—no warning at all.
The leader was actually a woman.
She shouldered a beam rifle and burst through the door like a female god of death, yet she had a baby face.
“Who just said my Luo family is declining? Step forward—I’ll give them a quick end.”
“…”
The whole place fell silent.
Ning Hanzhu’s ears had just recovered when she heard this. She instinctively looked toward the person who had been spouting off just moments ago.
This mouth must have been blessed…
She had just mentioned the Luo family, and now people from the Luo family had arrived.
Xu Yuqing, however, brushed the dust off her clothes and spoke righteously. “I said it. Isn’t it true?”
Ning Hanzhu watched as the woman raised the beam rifle in her hand again upon hearing this, aiming it straight at Xu Yuqing. She hurriedly pulled Xu Yuqing behind her. “Misunderstanding—it’s all a misunderstanding. Miss, let’s talk this out properly.”
Ning Hanzhu had originally planned to stall until evening, but she had not expected a Cheng Yaojin to kill her way in midway—not only that, but a fierce woman who opened fire without a word, and one connected to the Luo family. Suddenly, inspiration struck her. “Miss, could you be the second young lady of the Luo family?”
Second Miss Luo was surprised. “You know me?”
Ning Hanzhu let out a dry laugh twice.
It was over, over—the boomerang had come back too fast.
Second Miss Luo suddenly took an interest in her. “You’ve offended our Luo family—no one here gets to live. But if you hand over the woman behind you to me, I can let you go. How about it?”
Ning Hanzhu, “…”
Of course not how about it.
Had they just escaped the tiger’s den only to enter a wolf’s lair?
